Bill Haddox
HARLINGEN, TX — Bill Haddox, 41, stepped into God’s loving arms on February 5, 2003.
He was a beloved son, brother, and uncle. He loved, and will be missed by many others.
His father, Allen H. Haddox preceded him in death.
Survivors include: his mother, Marilyn Haddox; his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Charles Herring; his nephew and niece, Kaleb and Kathryn Herring.
Memorial service for Bill will be held at 8th & Harrison Church of Christ in Harlingen on April 5, 2003 at 10 a.m. in the chapel.

Oralia Martinez
HARLINGEN, TX — Oralia Martinez 68, entered into rest on March 29, 2003 at her residence in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mrs. Martinez was born in La Feria on April 3, 1934 to Margarito and Guadalupe Martinez.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Martinez; brother, Ralph Martinez.
She is survived by her son, Frank (Emma) Ballesteros; 2 grandchildren, Michael Ballesteros and Mark Ballesteros; 1 great-grandchild, Brianna Ballesteros all of Corpus Christi; and a brother, Senaido Martinez of La Feria.
She was an active member of the Texas Communication Workers of America.
Funeral services will be held today, April 2, 2003 departing the Rudy Garza Palms Chapel at 1:30 p.m. for a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church with Father Plutarco Belanggoy as Celebrant and interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Frank Ballesteros, Michael Ballesteros, David Martinez, Ralph Martinez, Jr., and JR Martinez.
In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Building Fund.

Enriqueta G. Rojas
HARLINGEN, TX — Enriqueta Garcia Rojas, 74, entered into rest on April 1, 2003, in Harlingen, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leobardo and Juana Alejandra Garcia and one sister, Magdalena Garcia.
She is survived by her husband, Raul Rojas; six children, Miguel Raul Rojas (Lourdes) of Harlingen, Alberto Rojas (Minerva) of Harlingen, Jose Rojas (Benita) of Mississippi, Herlinda Rojas of Harlingen, Juanita Serna (Jose) of Harlingen, Malu Rojas (Shawn Lett) of Dallas; two brothers, Leobardo Garcia, Geronimo Garcia; and one sister, Rosenda Garcia all of Mexico City.
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Eduardo, Michelle, Alejandro, Chantalle, Emily Jo, Jose Jr., Linda Lee, Anthony, Latasha, Sophia, Samantha, Gabriela, Margaret, Monica, Mario, Michelle. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, Allen Michael, Roberta, Jacob, Seth, Mireya, Lorissa, and Averie. Visitation will be held today, (Wednesday) April 2, 2003 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Harlingen.
The funeral procession will depart the Rudy Garza Funeral Home on Thursday, April 3, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father McHugh as celebrant. Interment will follow at Ashland Memorial Park Cemetery in Harlingen. Pallbearers will be Miguel Raul Rojas, Alberto Rojas, Jose Rojas, Alejandro Rojas, Jose Rojas, Jr., and Anthony De Leon. Honorary pallbearer will be Lucio Garcia.

Vivian B. Houghtling
TULSA, OK — Vivian Brown Houghtling died in Tulsa, Oklahoma March 31, 2003 after a short illness from cancer. She was a longtime resident of San Benito, Texas.
She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Gene Houghtlng of Tulsa; son, Lance Houghtling and his wife, Constance of Talala, Oklahoma; daughter, Cheri Tatum and her husband, Dr. Harvey A. Tatum of Tulsa; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held today, Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at Central Church of the Nazarene and burial will be at Floral Haven 6500 South 129th Avenue, Broken Arrow, OK.
Raymond Hinman
HARLINGEN, TX — Raymond (Sailor) E. Hinman, 50, Merchant Marine Born Dayton, Ohio on March 12, 1953. He died on Friday, June 6, 2003 at Valley Baptist Hospital.
Surviving from previous marriage, Virginia Murphey; two sons Jeremy (Lynda) Hinman, Jason Hinman; sisters Suzy Manning, Sandy Griesheyer, Sheri Hinman, Sena Dixon and present wife Tenna Felix, wife of 17 years.
Memorial services will be on June 2004 at South Padre Island. Arrangements were under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Gloria Escobedo Alvarez
SAN BENITO — Gloria Escobedo Alvarez, 52, entered into rest on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at Harlingen Medical Center. Gloria was born September 6, 1950 in San Benito, Texas to Ernestina V. and Arturo R. Escobedo. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter Eva Teresa "Terry" Alvarez (Rene); her mother Ernestina V. Escobedo; her siblings, Santos E.A. (Ron) George of Harrisburg, PA, Emilia Escobedo of Denton, TX, Arturo Escobedo of San Benito, Norma A. (Leo) Longoria of La Feria, Rosalinda E. (Justin) Reaves of Houston, TX and Ida E. (David) Arellano of San Antonio, TX; nieces and nephews Ruth Ann Alicia, Rosita Alicia, Alfredo Escobedo, Cindy Escobedo, Jessica and Janis Escobedo, Tanya, Patricia and Elisa Longoria, Arturo and Samantha Jimenez, Stephanie Escobedo and Mindy Arellano.
Gloria was preceded in death by her father Arturo R. Escobedo, her daughter Ana Elisa Alvarez, and her brother Samuel Escobedo.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2003 at San Benito Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, June 17, 2003 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. both nights.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at St. Theresa Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Rene Estrada, Arturo Jimenez, Leonel Longoria, David Arellano, Justin Reaves, Carlos Rodriguez, and Joe Rubio.

George Calvin Haynes
HARLINGEN — George Calvin Haynes, 82, was called by our Lord on June 13, 2003 at Valley Baptist Medical Center. He was born on July 8, 1920 in Stuart Place, TX and moved to Harlingen as a young man, living there most of his life.
George worked as a short wave tower technician; he retired to his hobbies. He was a charter member of Smash Remote Control Club, and a member of the Academy of Aeronautics Association.
George leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and very close friends. He will be deeply missed.
Graveside services will be held on Monday June 16, 2003 at the Combes Cemetery.

Angela Leal Robles
RIO HONDO — Angela Leal Robles, 87, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at Retama Manor Nursing Home. She was born at Rancho El Fresnal in San Benito, TX and lived in the San Benito and Rio Hondo area all her life. She was a housewife, and member of the Trinidad Assembly of God Church in Rio Hondo.
Mrs. Robles was a loving Mother and Grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also by many friends and relatives. Her memory will be always in our hearts and we know she is in God’s Hands.
The Robles family would like to give a special thanks to the Family Practice Residency Program and the Doctors and Staff for their care; also to Retama Manor Nursing Home. A special thanks to Nurse Amabeli Gonzales of Valley Baptist Hospice.
Mrs. Robles is survived by her children Sabas (Gollita) Robles of Rio Hondo, Andres (Dalia) Robles of San Benito, Ezequiel (Aurora) Robles of Rio Hondo, Baldemar Robles of San Benito, Esther (Eleazar) Guajardo of Rio Hondo, and Maria Magdalena Garza of San Benito; 27 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Robles was preceded in death by her husband, Ygnacio Robles in 1964 and her son and daughter, Ygnacio Robles Jr. and Petrita Robles in 1955.
Visitation will be held Sunday June 15, 2003 from 1p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with Prayer services both nights at 7 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home Chapel.
Services will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Trinidad Assembly of God Church in Rio Hondo at 2 p.m. with Pastor Lazaro Olive officiating.
Entombment will be at Mont Meta Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Eleazar Guajardo Jr., Rollen Alaniz, David Carlos Gracia, Ryan Lee Garcia, David Castro Jr., and Aroldo Garza Jr.

Emiliano Benavides
LOS FRESNOS, TX — Emiliano Benavides, 78, entered into rest on Friday, June 13, 2003 at Valley Baptist Medical Center. He was born September 4, 1924 in Pesqueria Chica, N.L. to Francisco Benavides and Victoria De La Rosa.
He worked more than 50 years with Bayview Water District #11. He was always busy around the house doing mechanical work and yard work.
He is survived by his wife, Francisca Benavides; daughters, Jacinta Benavides, Francisca Benavidez and Laura Rocha; sons, Gilberto Ulluela, Isidro Ulluella, Ramiro Benavides and Gilberto Ulluela, Jr.; 21 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the San Benito Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2003.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced at a later date. Pallbearers will be Guadalupe Ortiz, Ivan Benavides, Michael Benavides, Rudy Benavides, Jr., Isidro Ulluela, Jr. and Frank Ulluela.

Maria G. Canales
HARLINGEN, TX — Harlingen resident Maria G. Canales entered eternal rest after a long illness on June 10,. 2003, at age 94.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Levi E. Canales; her sons, Reynaldo Canales and Ramiro Canales.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria C. Corkill of San Benito, five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughters-in-law, Antonia A. Canales (Reynaldo) of Harlingen, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and Gloria G. Canales (Ramiro) of Harlingen, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Thursday, June 12, 2003 from 12 noon to 9 p.m. at Trinity Funeral Chapel. A holy rosary was recited at 7 p.m. that evening.
A holy mass will be held today, Friday, June 13, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harlingen. Interment will follow to Restlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Robert Corkill, Ronnie Corkill, Raymond Corkill, Ruben Corkill, Reynaldo Canales, and George Canales.

Mrs. Coronado is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Irineo Coronado of La Feria, TX; children, Juan J. (Eva) Coronado of Harlingen, Pedro Coronado of Houston, TX, Martin (Vicky) Coronado of La Feria, Raul (Maria Anita) Coronado of Raymondville, TX; 2 daughters, Fidencia Fonseca and Rosa Garza; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, June 12, 2003, from 10 a.m. until 9 a.m. at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m.
