A holy Mass was celebrated at
8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Catholic Church.
Committal services and interment
were held in the Calvary
Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Javier Bernal,
Rene Jimenez, Antonio Bernal,
Jr., Juan Alberto Bernal, Gerardo
Bernal, Gustavo Bernal,
Antonio Bernal, III, and Gabriel
Bernal.

Manuel S. Martinez
Manuel S. Martinez, 67, passed
away Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999 at a
local hospital.
He was preceded in death by
his sisters, Elvira M. Martinez,
and Herminia M. Garcia.
Mr. Martinez is survived by his
beloved wife of 43 years, Diana
M. Martinez; he was a loving
father to his children, Juan
Manuel (Leticia) Martinez, Jesus
(Gloria) Martinez, Leticia
(Manuel) Romo, Jose Alfredo
(Emma) Martinez, and Maximiliano
Martinez. He is also
survived by his mother Carmen
S. Martinez; his sisters, Josefina
Gallegos of San Antonio, and
Maria A. Martinez of Laredo;
he was a caring and loving
grandfather to 11 grandchildren.
Mr. Martinez will be
greatly missed by those who
knew him.
A rosary will be recited Tuesday,
Dec. 21, 1999 at 7 p.m. at
Joe Jackson Springfield Chapels,
1900 Springfield. Visiting hours
will be held from 5 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held
Wednesday morning, Dec. 22,
1999 at 10:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson
Springfield Chapels, 1900
Springfield to San Jose Catholic
Church.
Interment will be at the family’s
plot in the Calvary Catholic
Cemetery.

San Juana Reyes Koonce of
San Antonio passed away Friday,
Dec. 17, 1999.
Mrs. Reyes is survived by her
loving husband, Clifford
Koonce of San Antonio; two

granddaughter, Rheanna Tristan;
mother, Paulita Reyes; father,
Cleotilde Reyes, both of
Laredo; brothers, Feliciano

TX. and Santos (Gloria) Reyes
of Laredo; sister, Laura
(Arturo) Lozano of Grand
Praire, TX.; paternal grandfather,
Paulo Reyes of Laredo; numerous
nieces and nephews;
two lifelong friends, Thelma
(Gerardo) Garcia and Jesusa
(Domingo) Zamora, both of Laredo.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday,
Dec. 21, 1999 from 4 to 9
p.m. at the Nieto Dickey and
Lopez Funeral Home Chapel.

Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999. The

8:15 a.m. to San Luis Rey Catholic
Church. A holy Mass will be

Ventura Reyes, 70, passed away
Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999 at a local
hospital.
Mrs. Reyes was called by our
Lord on Thursday, Dec. 16,
1999 to join his angels in heaven.
She will be remembered by
her family as a devoted wife,
mother, grandmother and great
grandmother. Her loving spirit
will continue in her children’s
heart and all whom she
touched.
Mrs. Reyes was preceded in
death by her son, Emilio Reyes
Jr.
She is survived by her beloved
husband of 49 years of marriage,
Emilio Reyes and her
children, Evaristo (San Juanita)

Jimenez, Carlos (Epifania) Zamora,

Hermelinda (Alberto) Flores,

She will also be missed greatly

He was born in Laredo.
Mr. De Luna was in the Army. He

iron worker.

He is survived by his spouse,
Magdalena De Luna; children,
Maria, Nellie De Luna, Dolores
De Luna, Josie De Luna, and
Elizabeth De Luna and her husband,
Charles Marcus; five
grandchilren; mother, Trinidad
De Luna; brother and sister Juan De
Luna Jr. and Herminia
Cantu and her husband, Arnold

MESA, AZ.— Ruth Mayes Whitenton,
77, died Tuesday, Dec.
14, 1999 at home in Mesa, AZ.
She was a homemaker and was
preceded in death by her beloved
husband, C.E. “Whit” Whitenton, a
former long-time Webb
County game warden.
She is survived by brother, Aubrey
Mayes; sister, Dorthie Earnest;
daughters, Arlean Taylor
of Kingwood, Texas, and Cathie
Semmelmann of Mesa, AZ.;
son, Cary Whitenton of San Antonio,
Texas; eight grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren.
