Omah Faye Carter

Services for Omah Faye Carter, 71, of Kirvin will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Louie  Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Carter died Sunday in Kirvin.
She was born April 11, 1930, in Mexia.
Mrs. Carter was a homemaker. She was a member of Kirvin Baptist Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 331.
Mrs. Carter is survived by daughters, Sammie Faye Turner of Kirvin, Christine Owsley of Terrell and Mary Adams of Richardson; son, Fred Lance Carter of Kirvin; brother, Thomas Franklin Lance of Teague; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Roberson, Keith Roberson, Corey Current, Michael Carter, Robbie Castlow, Jeremy Davis, Jonathen Allred and Blair Casey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Robinson, Fred Latham, Clint Sutton, Rodney Latham, Michael Roberson and Ken Sessions.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the building fund of Kirvin Baptist Church.

Sam Carter

Mr. Carter died Sunday in Kirvin.
He was born Sept. 23, 1928 in Wortham.
Mr. Carter was a carpenter. He was a member of Kirvin Baptist Church and a member of Cotton Gin Lodge No. 154. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Mr. Carter is survived by daughters, Sammie Faye Turner of Kirvin, Christine Owsley of Terrell and Mary Adams of Richardson; son, Fred Lance Carter of Kirvin; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Roberson, Keith Roberson, Corey Current, Michael Carter, Robbie Castlow, Jeremy Davis, Jonathen Allred and Blair Casey.

Freddie Tutt

Funeral arrangements for Freddie Tutt, 45, of Palestine, are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home.
Mr. Tutt died Monday night at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Dixie June Watts Shugart

Services for Dixie June Watts Shugart, 78, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Grissom officiating. Burial will be at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.
Mrs. Shugart died Saturday morning at her residence.
She was born April 25, 1924, in Anderson County to Amos F. Watts and Emily Butler Watts.
Mrs. Shugart was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Altrusa Club. She served on the board of directors for the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Museum for East  Texas Culture and Harvey Woman’s Club.
She worked 52 1/2 years as comptroller for Vernon Calhoun Packing Company.
Mrs. Shugart was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Shugart, in 1997; and brothers, Wade Watts and Butler Watts.
She is survived by daughters, Judy Williams and Dawn Elrod, both of Houston, Gloria Hollingsworth and Kellie Snyder, both of Palestine; son, Clay Shugart of Palestine; brother, George Watts of Ruidoso, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steve Watts, Bill Watts, Randy Watts, Cliff Johnson, Gary  Johnson and Bill Knowles.
Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Calhoun, Mike Rhodes and John Solona.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of Grace United Methodist Church.

Lewis Arnold “L.A.” Smith

Services for Lewis Arnold “L.A.” Smith, 88, of LaMarque, and formerly of Grapeland, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Church of Christ in Grapeland with Jamie Duplichan officiating. Burial will be in Lively Cemetery with Masonic rites accorded by the Grapeland Lodge No. 473 AF & AM. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mr. Smith died Thursday at Gulf Health Care in Galveston.
He was born Oct. 6, 1914, in Grapeland to George and Minnie Cunningham Smith.
Mr. Smith was employed with Union Carbide for almost 30 years. He retired in 1976 and moved back to Grapeland and became a rancher. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Grapeland, and a 50-year member of the Grapeland Masonic Lodge No. 473 AF & AM.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Darrell Smith; sister, Elvira Cook; and brothers, Earl Smith, Irving Smith, John Smith and Robert Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Lucille Skidmore Smith of Galveston; daughter, Karen Ann Fullen of Galveston; sons, Ralph Clifton Smith of Omega Bay, Gerald Lewis Smith and Donald Carroll Smith, both of Dickinson; sisters, Ruth Quinn of Pasadena, Mada Lou Skidmore of Nacogdoches, Hazel Norman of Montgomery, Ala. and Virginia Wooten of Houston; brother, W.D. Smith of Grapeland; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Billy Fullen, Clif Smith, Brad Fullen, Baxter Smith, Randy  Jones and Jose Palmer.
Condolence calls will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lucille Vannoy Fitzgerald

Services for Lucille Vannoy Fitzgerald, 94, of Montalba, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Grasty officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Church Cemetery in the Blackfoot community.
Mrs. Fitzgerald died Friday at Cartmell Home for Aged in Palestine.
She was born Jan. 10, 1908 to James Robert Vannoy and Mary Elizabeth Isabell Vannoy.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was reared in the Blackfoot community, attending school there. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She married Loyd S. Fitzgerald in 1936. They settled in Pasadena, where she worked as a seamstress and school bus driver in Pasadena ISD.
After retiring she moved to Montalba in 1980. She was an active member of the Montalba Baptist Church and the Montalba Community Improvement Association. For many years she, along with other quilters, donated special quilts for the community in drawings to raise money for community improvements.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim Vannoy and Thomas Isaac Vannoy; sisters, Geneva Thomas, Laura Willhite and Mary Etta Henderson.
Mrs. Fitzgerald is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to Montalba Baptist Church.

Cameron Aundrey Borah

Funeral arrangements for infant Cameron Aundrey Borah, 4 months, are pending at McCoy Funeral Home.
The infant died Saturday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Linda Lee Blocker

Funeral arrangements for Linda Lee Blocker, 50, of Oakwood, are pending at McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Blocker died Saturday at her residence.

Terry L. McFall

Services for Terry L. McFall, 49, of Dallas and formerly of Anderson County, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Adam’s Chapel AME Church at 7707 Santa Rosa Way in Dallas with burial to follow in the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Emanuel Funeral Home of Palestine is in charge arrangements.
Mr. McFall died Thursday at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
He was born March 14, 1953, in El Paso, to Will and Hester Mae William McFall.
Mr. McFall was a construction helper.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. McFall is survived by brothers, Dwight McFall, Troy McFall and Gary McFall; and sisters, Pamela McFall-Knott and Sylvia Guild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Adam’s Chapel.

Emma Rountree
Services for Emma Rountree, 48, of Fairfield, are pending at Bailey & Foster. Mrs. Rountree died Sunday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Frank Clinton Armstrong

Services for Frank Clinton Armstrong, 71, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Revs. Robert and Etta Bell Gutherie officiating. Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Armstrong died Sunday at Dogwood Trails Advanced Care Center.
He was born Oct. 5, 1931, in Mobile, Ala. to Leonard C. Armstrong and Lilly Walls Armstrong.
Mr. Armstrong was a member of Grace & Truth Tabernacle Church. He owned and operated Clinton’s Repair Shop for many years.
He is survived by his former wife, Dixie Armstrong Wright of Palestine; stepmother, Billy Armstrong of Palestine; sons, Leonard Armstrong of Palestine, Clyde E. Armstrong of Palestine, Daniel F. Armstrong of Oak Hurst and Darrell W. Armstrong of Palestine; half sister, Teresa Porter of Palestine; half brother, Michael Armstrong of Palestine; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Armstrong, Jason Armstrong, Jonathan Armstrong, Justin Armstrong, John Day and Brian Standley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Allex Armstrong, Allen Armstrong and former employees of Glass Containers.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Margaret Mongold Zant

Services for Margaret Mongold Zant, 83, of Austin, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Plum Branch Cemetery in Eolian.
Mrs. Zant died Friday.
She was born Aug. 20, 1918 in Pell City, Ala.
Mrs. Zant was a medical office manager in Bayton and an office manager for Edward  Jones in Palestine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Zant; her parents, James Mongold and Dixie Kilgroe; and brother, Sol Mongold.
She is survived by daughters, Dixie Sims Turnbow and Virginia Trchalek; sister, Jo Mongold; brother, George Mongold; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association.

Angela M. Harris

Services for Angela M. Harris, 69, of Palestine, will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Alan Van Hooser officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Harris died Thursday at her home.
She was born Aug. 31, 1933 in Neath, Wales to David Watkins Price and Margaret Nita Weekes Price.
Mrs. Harris was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and worked part-time at Palestine Memorial Hospital (83-85), EVAPCO in Madera, Calif from 1987 to 1993 and was a volunteer for the Anderson County Literacy Program.
Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her father; and her husband, Floyd Neil Harris.
She is survived by her mother of Swansea, Wales; daughters, Anita L. Niles of Cayuga Park,  Calif., Katherine M. Krafft of Houston, a son; Neil Harris of Saugus,  Calif., a brother, Martin Price of Swansea, Wales; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Martin Krafft, Forrest Niles, Steven Krafft, Erick Byers, Paul Holiday, Jay Powell, Irvin Harris and Martin Price.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mitch Holiday, Darwin Harris and James Fecteau.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East  Texas Hospice, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler,  Texas 75701.
