Claudie Francis “Tuck” Langston

Services for Claudie Francis “Tuck” Langston, 72, of Maydelle were at 2 p.m. today at Maydelle Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Robert Compton and Henry Ray Brooks officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Mr. Langston died Sunday at a Jacksonville hospital.
He was born March 25, 1930 in Anderson County.
Mr. Langston was a life resident of Anderson County and a member of Maydelle Assembly of God Church. He did road and bridge work and logging.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Poorman; a grandson, Stephen Paul Coslett; four brothers; and a sister.
Mr. Langston is survived by his wife, June Langston of Maydelle; daughters, Gladys Thornton and Rhonda Langston, both of Maydelle, and Geraldine Goodwin of Pelham, N.Y.; brother, Curtis Langston of Porter; sisters, Mary Weaver of Flow, Birtie Bowman of Grapeland, Callie Fletcher of Oakland, Allie Croft of Elkhart, and Dora B. Lusk of Jacksonville; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Frances Wayne Langston, Kevin Langston, Toby Coslett, B.J. Mott, Keith Langston , Joe Roy Fletcher, Ricky Frazier and Bill Coslett.
Honorary pallbearer was Christy Tosh.

Lisa Marie Williams

Services for Lisa Marie Williams, 24, of Deerpark, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Buffalo City Cemetery with Glen Loftin officiating. Memorial Funeral Home in Buffalo is handling arrangements.
Ms. Williams died Saturday in Pasadena.
She was born January 7, 1978 in Pasadena.
Ms. Williams was a phlebotomist and a Baptist.
She is survived by her father, Ken Williams of Baytown; mother, Debra Webb of Buffalo; daughter, Kennedy Gabriele Elise Ramirez of Austin; son, Kannon Boxa of Deerpark; brother, Ryan Scott  Jones of Houston; and sister, Neely Sue Magee of Deerpark.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Cheryl Lynn Thomas

Funeral arrangements for Cheril Lynn Thomas, 22, of Waco, and formerly of Grapeland, are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home, Crockett.
She died Saturday at Hillcrest Baptist Hospital in Waco.

Donald Spencer Hurley

Donald Spencer Hurley, 66, of Palestine will be cremated and no formal service will be held.
Mr. Spencer died Sunday at his home.
Emanuel Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Michael McKissic

Funeral arrangements for Michael McKissic, 54, of Palestine are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home.
Mr. McKissic died Saturday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Valerie Farris

Funeral arrangements for Valerie Farris, 60, of Palestine are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Farris died today at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Infant Jordyn Sarai Smith
Services for infant Jordyn Sarai Smith will be Friday at Jerusalem Cemetery with the Rev. Jesse  Johnson officiating under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.

The infant was stillborn Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

She is survived by parents, Stacey M. Wickware and Jeremiah N. Smith; grandparents, Samuel and Linda Wickware of Palestine and Joycette Smith of Garland; great-grandparents, Herman and Merlene Williams of Palestine, Napoleon and Pauline Wright of Wills Point and Samuel and Alma Wickware of Duncanville; and great-great-grandfather John Kimbrough of Palestine.

Laura Bell Williams
Services for Laura Bell Williams, 91, of Houston and formerly of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Vernon AME Church with the Revs. Ernest Helaire, Paul Cox and Marshall Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow in Mason Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Mrs. Williams died March 15 at Doctor’s Hospital in Houston.

She was born March 22, 1910, in Palestine, the seventh of nine children of Andrew  Jackson Anderson and Mattie Swanson Anderson.

Mrs. Williams graduated from Flint Hill High School. She was a member of Anderson Chapel Church and later joined Mount Vernon AME Church. There she served as a stewardess, missionary and choir member. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Lonnie Williams Sr.; son, Benjamin Williams; and her siblings.
Mrs. Williams is survived by daughters, Ida Bell Edwards of Palestine and Jean Williams Smith of Houston; son, Lonnie Williams II of Houston; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Thomas Edwards, William Edwards, Preston Hodge, Robert Jackson, Curtis McGaskey and Joe Selman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Isaac Larkin II, Steven Larkin, Claude B. Swanson, Edward Swanson, Henry Swanson and Lonnie Williams III.

Marilyn Sue Denig Carpenter

Services for Marilyn Sue Denig Carpenter, 55, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Lone Pine Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Stegall officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carpenter died Sunday at UT Health Center in Tyler.
She was born April 22, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio to Harry Porter Denig and Betty Campbell Denig.
Mrs. Carpenter had lived in Palestine for the last 36 years. She was a bookkeeper at Boyd’s TV and Appliance for many years. She was a member of Montalba Christian Church.
She is survived by her father and stepmother, Harry and Ethel Denig of Grand Saline; her husband, David Carpenter of Palestine; son, Derrick Carpenter of Palestine; daughters, Cheryl McCann and Melissa Wilbanks, both of Palestine; brothers, William Denig of Plano and Daniel Denig of Sun Valley, Ariz.; sisters, Beverly  Jones of Fruitvale and Debby Clower of Grand Saline; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Leon Collins, David Giles, Chad Davis, Dwaine Wilbanks, Orville Wilbanks, Jason Wilbanks and Brad Langston.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Johnny Lipscomb

Funeral arrangements for Johnny Lipscomb, 70, of Conroe, are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Lipscomb died Sunday at Conroe Medical Center.

Joseph D. Collins

Mr. Collins died Saturday at HomePlace in Tyler.

Lowell Tarrant

Funeral arrangements for Lowell Tarrant, 86, of Palestine, are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Tarrant died this morning at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

W.C. “Bud” Thomas

Funeral arrangements for W.C. “Bud” Thomas, 90, of Frankston, are pending a Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Thomas died Sunday at Frankston Healthcare Center.

Jason McKinley Franklin

Services for Jason McKinley Franklin, 17, of Elkhart, will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Elkhart High School Gymnasium with the Revs. Ron Davis and Floyd Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Franklin died Monday at East  Texas Medical Center in Tyler.
He was born April 25, 1984 in Bedford, Ind. to Joel Eugene Franklin and Sandra Rae Wineinger Franklin.
Mr. Franklin lived in Elkhart for the past four years. He was a senior at Elkhart High School. He had been accepted to attend college at  Texas Christian University and Baylor University and would have attended college in the fall.
He was a member of the National Honor Society, the debate team, a captain on the varsity football team, a member of the baseball team and the powerlifting team. He participated in University Interscholastic League academic competitions in math and science.
Mr. Franklin had been a Cub Scout and earned the Star rank in Boy Scouts. He completed a 60 mile trek through Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, N.M. He attended the 2001 summer seminar at the U.S. Naval Academy.
He was a member of Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Franklin is survived by his parents of Elkhart; a grandfather, Claude Glenn Wineinger of French Lick, Ind.; grandmothers, Virginia Franklin of Lady Lake, Fla. and Willa Mae Wineinger of French Lick, Ind.; great-grandparents, Claude A. and Easter Wineinger of French Lick, Ind.; great-grandmother, Edith Eastridge of French Lick, Ind.; brother, Bryan Russell Franklin of Elkhart; and sister, Sara Beth Franklin of Elkhart.
Pallbearers will be Todd Marsh, Brandon Martin, Mark Fisher, Justin Harris, Jim Bartee, Dustin London, Tommy Sinks and Jonathan Walling.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Elkhart High School Class of 2002.

Azora Kathleen Butler

Services for Azora Kathleen Butler, 94, will be held in the near future at Sun City, Ariz. Local arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Butler died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 11, 1907 in Long Island, N.Y.
Formerly of Sun City, Ariz. and Whelling W.Va., Mrs. Butler was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Sun City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David S. Butler; and her mother, Esther Jennings.
She is survived by Bertie and Harry  Jackson of Frankston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Presbyterian Church, 16000 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Ariz., 85351.

Emma Louise Rountree

Services for Emma Louise Rountree, 48, of Fairfield, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster with the Rev. Larry Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Freestone County.
Mrs. Rountree died Sunday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 3, 1953 in Fairfield to Otho Neal and Emma Jean Christian Laird.
Mrs. Rountree was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her father, and her first husband, Mike Brown, in 1972.
Mrs. Rountree is survived by her mother of Tucker; her husband, George Rountree of Butler; daughter, Amanda Rountree of Nacogdoches; son, Mike Brown of Palestine; brother, Gwen Layton of Stephenville; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Harding, John Fritz, Glenn Toole, Sidney Wolfe, William Keys III and Paul Bell.
Condolence calls will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
