Mrs. Whitlock died this morning at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield.
Brian Paul Main
Services for Brian Paul Main, 19, of Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, and formerly of Palestine, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Kan. with the Rev. Thomas B. Mendenhall officiating. military honors will be conducted by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Elliott Mortuary in Hutchinson.
Mr. Main died Thursday in Wichita Falls.
He was born Sept. 9, 1982 in Wichita, Kan.
Mr. Main was a longtime resident of Hutchinson, Kan. He was a 2001 graduate of Palestine High School, and joined the Air Force in 2001. He was an airman first class in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Main was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
He is survived by his mother, Marie D. Gianakon of Hutchinson; his father, Stephen J. Main of Wichita, Kan.; grandparents, Paul and Vida Gianakon of Hutchinson, Jimmie and Joan Main of Newkirk, Okla.; and great-grandmother, Esther Groneman of Lincolnville, Kan.
Memorials are suggested to the Brian P. Main Memorial Fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Lucille Salmon
Services for Lucille Salmon, 80, of Elkhart, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with James Coffman officiating. Burial will be in Guiceland Cemetery.
Mrs. Salmon died Friday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 28, 1921 in Okamugee, Okla.
Mrs. Salmon was preceded in death by her husband, John Salmon, on June 17, 2001; sons, Ronnie Butler and Johnny Salmon; and a brother, Joe Martin.
She is survived by daughters, Virginia Graham of Pinehurst and Pam Franks of Crandall; son, Tim Salmon of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rock Graham, John Groda, Jeff Clapp, Joel Michna, Charles Wayne London and Eddie Dancer.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Elmo J. King
Services for Elmo J. King, 80, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with Elmer Moore officiating. Burial will be Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory.
Mr. King died Saturday morning in a Palestine hospital.
He was born Jan. 17, 1922 in Mexia to John Harvey and Irene Martin King.
Mr. King was raised in Neches. He worked for Humble Oil and Refining Co. and for Exxon. He retired in 1982 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Eastside Church of Christ.
Mr. King served in the U.S. Air Force in Europe and India during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Letha Bomer King of Palestine; sons, David King of Wichita, Kan., and Warren King of Palestine; daughter, Kay Pennington of Neches; brothers, Mulloy King of Bacliff, Jimmy King of Kingsville, and John Dale King of Lake Jackson; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan King, Jeremy King, Jarod King, Jason King, Brent Pennington and Colby Pennington.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees from the Exxon oil field in Neches.
Visitation will be from 8 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Vera A. Damm
Services for Vera A. Damm, 80, of the Blackfoot community, will be at 3:30 today at Roselawn Park with the Rev. Dennis Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Damm died Friday at her home.
She was born Sept. 27, 1921 in Valley Stream, N.Y. to John E. West and Florence Hendrickson West.
Mrs. Damm was a Catholic and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harold W. Damm of Blackfoot; daughter, Linda Ann Bishop of Palestine; son, John Damm Sr. of Athens; four grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Damm Sr., John Damm Jr., Edward Damm, Patrick Gaines, Robert Bishop, Aaron Wade Damm, Jordan Damm and Matthew Gaines.
Luke Griffin
Services for Luke Griffin, 69, of the Tadmore community in Houston County, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Simpson Chapel Baptist Church in Tadmore. Burial will follow in McKelvey Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home, Crockett.
Mr. Griffin died in the Wells Care Center in Cherokee County on Nov. 9.
He was born Oct. 18, 1933 in Ratcliff to John Griffin and Velma Calhoun Griffin.
Mr. Griffin was a member of Simpson Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John White and Bud Sheffield; and a sister, Jackie Sheffield.
Mr. Griffin is survived by children, Tina Hackney, Sheila Hackney, Earnest C. Griffin and James Griffin, all of Alto, Reginald Griffin of Las Vegas, Nev. and Luke Griffin Jr. of Jacksonville; siblings, Rochester Griffin and Justin Poole, both of Alto, Runt Sheffield and John Griffin, both of Ratcliff, Donald White of Crockett, Ronald White of Tadmore, Sam Griffin and Sam Sheffield, both of Houston; and a host of grandchildren.
A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight in the T.W. Berry Chapel.
Carlena A. McLemore
Services for Carlena A. McLemore, 59, of Palestine, were held Wednesday at Muse Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster. A memorial service conducted by the family was at 1 p.m. today at Christ Community Church.
Mrs. McLemore died Wednesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 12, 1943 in Jennings, La. to Earnest John McLemore Sr. and Maggie Leleux McLemore.
Mrs. McLemore was a homemaker and a member of Christ Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. McLemore is survived by her husband, Joel Richards of Palestine; son, Robert V. Simmons Jr of Palestine; sister, Madeline Curtis of Austin; brothers, Jerry McLemore of Elkhart and Donald McLemore of Palestine.
Johnnie Green Wagner
Services for Johnnie Green Wagner, 87, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Myron Waddle officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wagner died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 25, 1915 in Palestine to the Rev. Bennie and Julia Beason Green. She attended Anderson County schools and was a domestic worker for years.
Mrs. Wagner was a longtime member of Grant Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir and served the church in other capacities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Wagner; six sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by a brother, Matthew Green of El Paso.
Harold Eugene Swarthout

Captola Holland Holley

Mrs. Holley died Friday morning at East Texas Medical Center in Crockett.
She was born Dec. 15, 1904, to Ed and Sally Ann Holland.
Mrs. Holley united with Antioch Missionary Baptist Church early in life. She married Johnnie Holley on Dec. 3, 1922.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Lula Truss and Toni Holland; brothers, the Rev. Jasper Holland and Sidney Holland; and a daughter.
Mrs. Holley is survived by children, Clementt Holley of Houston, Charlie Hollie of Pennington and Johnnie Holley of Groveton; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Henderson “Red” Larkin Jr.
Services for Henderson “Red” Larkin Jr., 64, of Fort Worth were held Dec. 28 at Inspiring Temple of Praise Church in Fort Worth. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Fort Worth under the direction of Morris-Bates Mortuary of Fort Worth.
Mr. Larkin died Dec. 19 at a Fort Worth hospital.
He was born in Palestine. He was a former member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Mr. Larkin was preceded in death by his father, Henderson Larkin.
He is survived by his wife, Theone Larkin; sons, Michael Larkin of Arlington and Tracy Larkin of Fort Worth; daughter, Angela Larkin of Mansfield; mother, Christine Larkin of Palestine; brothers, Rick Larkin, Robert Larkin and Johnny Larkin; sister, Bettye Brewer of Los Angeles and Bobbye Kelley of Palestine; and three grandchildren.
Louis Lindsey
Services for Louis Lindsey, 89, of LaRue, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Edwin McDaniel and Elvin Adair officiating. Burial will follow in the LaRue Cemetery.
Mr. Lindsey died Monday in LaRue.
He was born in Bowie to Oscar Lee and Mattie Beulah Lindsey.
Mr. Lindsey was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Palestine and had resided in LaRue since 1959.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Lindsey; a grandson, Jeffrey Hardy; four sisters; and four brothers.
Mr. Lindsey is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elsie Lindsey of LaRue; daughter, Patsy Hardy of Palestine; sister, Doris Bennie of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Hardy, Michael Holcomb, Daniel Lindsey, Larry Holcomb, James Lindsey and Jerry Lindsey.
Memorials may be made to the Union United Methodist Church, East U.S. 84, Palestine, Texas, 75801.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
