The Rev. Henry D. Vincent
Services for the Rev. Henry D. Vincent, 74, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Harvest Time Church with the Revs. J.A. Griffin, S.D. Dodd, Doug Herrell and Larry Tillman officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Rev. Vincent died Wednesday at his home.
He was born March 11, 1928 in Burleson County to James Elijah and Janie Merka Vincent.
Rev. Vincent was a minister and member of Snook Assembly of God Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 3907 and the American Legion.
Rev. Vincent graduated from S.A.G.C. on June 1, 1951. He established and built the First Assembly of God Church in McGregor. He was pastor of Westside Assembly of God Church for more than 30 years, retiring in 1991 after 43 years of pastoral service.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Shell.
Rev. Vincent is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Giesenschlag Vincent of Palestine; daughter, C.J. “Carol” Bayless of Palestine; son, Robert James “Bobby” Vincent of Midland; sisters, Marjorie Rannals and Meleesee Rozell, both of Tyler, and Joanna McGill of Dallas; brother, James L. Vincent of Snyder; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Garland Bass, Wayne Smith, Mike Morton, Larry Jung, Frank Brown, Robert Elom, Eddie Wesson and Herman Linam III.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Robert Vincent, Justin Bayless, Taylor James Vincent, Chance Vincent Bayless, Ryan Neves and Patrick Ely.
Condolence calls will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Edna Elizabeth Anderson Owens
Services for Edna Elizabeth Anderson, 95, of Bronte, and formerly of Grapeland, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Christian Church in Grapeland with the Rev. Dennis Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery.
Mrs. Owens died Tuesday at a Stanton nursing home.
She was born Dec. 24, 1906, in Grapeland to James Victor and Linnie Anderson.
Mrs. Owens married Granville Welborn Owens on Dec. 2, 1923.
Mrs. Owens lived in Bronte for 41 years. She was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church in San Angelo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, G.W. Owens, in 1970; brothers, Alton, Almond, Lem, Sonley, Bailey, Coy and Aubrey Anderson; children, Gerald Owens, Linnie Avonell “Terry” Brosh, J.V. Owens, and Linnie Virginia Frazee; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Owens is survived by daughter, Dale Hightower of Harker Heights; and son, Sam Owens of Midland; 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rick Frazee, Bob Frazee, Christopher Stout, Terry Brosh, Mike Anderson, Richard Rusk, Tod McDaniel, and James Stalling.

Amanda Leona Farris Miller
Services for Amanda Leona Farris Miller, 95, of Dallas, and formerly of the Cedar Creek community of Anderson County, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Cedar Creek Cemetery off Highway 294.
Mrs. Miller died Tuesday at Baylor Hospital in Dallas.
She was born June 7, 1907 to James Dudley Farris and Denora Horne Farris.
Mrs. Miller grew up in the Cedar Creek community. She had lived in Dallas for the past 30 years.
Mrs. Miller attended Sam Houston State Teacher’s College and later attended Sul Ross State Teacher’s College where she received her degree in elementary education. She began her teaching career in Grapeland, and also taught elementary classes in schools of the Dallas Catholic Diocese and substituted for the Dallas Independent School District.
She married Emmett N. Miller.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by brothers, J.D. Farris Jr., and Fagan B. Farris.
She is survived by sisters, Loleta Collins of Anderson County and Mae Weesner of Sea Beach, Calif.; children, Eva Mae Armstrong of Dallas, Clarence W. Miller of San Marcos and James C. Miller of Arlington; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of choice.
Johnnie Jean Wright
Services for Johnnie Jean Wright, 68, of Crockett, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Crockett with the Rev. James Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Kennard Community Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Homes.
Mrs. Wright died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital in Houston.
She was born March 30, 1934 in Kennard to Johnny Lockett and Effie G. Mash.
Mrs. Wright attended Kennard public schools. She was a member of Pine Spring Baptist Church. She also attended Rising Star Baptist in Grapeland and Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Crockett.
She married William Wright on July 23, 1976.
Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a brother, Kelly Roy Denman; and twin grandsons.
She is survived by sons, Johnny Lamb Sr. of Grapeland and Lee Williams of Crockett; brothers, Frank Earl Gilmore of Dallas, R.V. Denman of Phoenix, Walter B. Denman of Palestine, William Lockett of Augusta, Ga., Carl Lockett and Clarence Lockett of Yardly, Pa.; sisters, Effie Sue Denman and Cherly Denman, both of Palestine, Fannie B. Denman of Crockett, Joycelyn Walker and Alice Rodgers, both of Houston, and Betty Carter of Detroit; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Elton Brimberry
Services for Elton Brimberry, 86, of Grapeland will be at 10 p.m. Friday at Sunset Christian Church with the Rev. Vance Drum officiating. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mr. Brimberry died Wednesday at Memorial Southwest Hospital in Houston.
He was born May 30, 1917 in Houston County to Ben and Beulah Owens Brimberry.
Mr. Brimberry was a builder. He graduated from Grapeland High School, and Sam Houston State University. He was a member of the Home Builders Association, Rotary Club, past president of Sam Houston University Alumnus, past member of the Executive Board of Northwest Bank & Trust, and past member of Fox Hunter Association. He was a member of Sunset Christian Church, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Brimberry was preceded in death by his two wives, Norma Rich Brimberry and Sara Kegler Brimberry; and two brothers, Benny Frank Brimberry and Arnold Brimberry.
He is survived by daughter, Cherry Williams of Friendswood; stepdaughters, Sara Thurston of New Jersey, Sandra Scott of Huntsville, and Suzette Kegler of Madisonville; son, Richard Brimberry of Navasota; sisters, Melba Story of Grapeland, Wanda Winter of St. Louis, Mo., Neva Williams of Bellaire, and Jo Brimberry of Katy; brother, Oather Brimberry of Grapeland; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Walter Williams, Dale Williams, Bob Winter, Kind Chandler, Tommy Brawner and Donald Brawner.

Melvin Main
Services for Melvin Main, 84, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. James Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park.
Mr. Main died Sunday at his residence.
He was born March 29, 1918, in Anderson County to Hiram Oscar Main and Lucy Ann Congleton Main.
Mr. Main was a lifetime member of Fields Chapel Methodist Church. He retired from the military following 20 years of service in the Army. While in the Army he served in the African, Italian, French and German invasions during World War II and received five Battle Stars. He served in the Korean War and received a Bronze Star. Following his retirement from the military, he was a security guard for 13 years at U.T. Southwest Medical School.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Lottie Lasiter and Cora Mae Teel; and brothers, Herman, Olen, Leonard, Vernon and Kenley Mann.
Mr. Main is survived by his wife, Annette Marie Main of Palestine; sisters, Irene Lasiter, Edith Lasiter, Virgie Babb, Susie Langston, Daisy Cook, Eva Nell Funderburk and Tommie Jean White, all of Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Earl Main, Rickey White, Jerry Langston, Randy Hargrave, Maurice Main and Roger Main.

Lisa Moss
Services for Lisa Moss, 36, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Draper and Steve McCall officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park.
Mrs. Moss died Sunday at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.
She was born Nov. 2, 1965, in Garden City, La. to James H. Adams and Margie Ann Buxton Adams.
Mrs. Moss was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Tony Moss of Palestine; daughters, Erica Littlefield of Tyler and Brittany Littlefield of Alto; son, Jeff Littlefield Jr. of Alto; parents, James and Margie Adams of Rusk; grandparents, James W. and Nell Adams of Alto; sister, Lola Atkinson of Alto; and brother, Craig Adams of Chandler.
Pallbearers will be John Roy Croft, Jimmy Woodard, Paul Wayne Kennedy, Danny Johnston, Jeff Bobbitt and Everett Bowman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marion Lloyd Adams and Davy Whitehead.

Cleo Fain
Services for Cleo Fain, 85, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at South Union Baptist Church with the Revs. James M. Busby and Vernon C. Jackson, Kenneth E. Henry and Gregg Wren officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Palestine.
Mr. Fain died Friday at Palestine Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 19, 1917 in Elkhart to William and Rosetta Jamerson Fain.
Mr. Fain was a member of Beulah Baptist Church during his youth. Upon returning to Palestine from San Antonio, he joined South Union Baptist Church.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army.
Mr. Fain was employed at Clayburn Tile Company for many years. He also worked for Memorial Hospital in Palestine, retiring after more than 20 years on the job.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Fain.
Mr. Fain is survived by his wife of 43 years, Annie L. Henry Fain of Palestine; and a son, Cleo Fain Jr. of Palestine.
Active pallbearers will be Floyd D. Boyd, Garry W. Cannon, Jimmie Cummings, Kenneth Henry Jr., John M. Jackson Jr. and Roy Jamerson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hosea Fain, Dr. J. Don Jackson Sr., Obie Phillips, Edd Reed and Floyd Reed Jr.
Navada Jane “Vada” Miller
Services for Navada Jane “Vada” Miller, 85, of Springdale, Ark. will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sisco Chapel of Springdale with the Revs. Kelly Yarbrough and Royce Collier officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sisco Funeral Chapel Inc. of Springdale.
Mrs. Miller died Sunday in Springdale.
She is survived locally by a grandson.
Russell Hooper
Services for Russell Hooper, 84, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Gardner, Melvin Eads and Marshall Pryor officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Hooper died Monday at Palestine Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 14, 1918 in Lamont, Miss. to Mark Hooper and Mozena Lewis.
Mr. Hooper was raised in Timpson by his father and stepmother, Ozella Hooper. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Prairie View A&M University and took graduate courses at Prairie View and Texas A&M universities. He taught vocational agriculture in Minden and Arp. In 1951 he began a 31-year career as Anderson County Extension Agent.
Through his regular radio programs and weekly columns, “Weekend Gardening” in the Palestine Herald-Press, he provided practical information to agricultural producers.
He received the Modern Farmer degree, the Honorary Chapter Farmer degree, and a 30-year service award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In 1973 he was recognized as educator of the year by the Palestine Negro B&PW Clubs Inc.
Mr. Hooper was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where he sang in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Julius B. Hooper and Lee Dell Hooper; and a sister, Mozena Miller.
Mr. Hooper is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helen Starr Hooper; daughter, Jacqueline K. McQueen of Indianapolis, Ind.; son, Lt. Col. Russell L. Hooper of DeSoto; sister, Margie H. Gipson of Houston; and five grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Blouis Gipson, Cameron Hooper, Louis Hooper, Martin Hooper, Wesley Hooper, Julian McQueen and Julius McQueen.
Honorary pallbearers will be C.D. Hooper, James E. Hooper, Willie Hooper, Claiborne Lewis, James Miller, Dolphus Sample and the deacons and men’s choir of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
Charlie “Jack” Walker
Services for Charlie “Jack” Walker, 71, of Galveston, and formerly of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Davis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy McClelland officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Sam Houston cemetery under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home in Palestine.
Mr. Walker died Saturday in a Galveston hospital.
He was born in Anderson County and attended Palestine public schools. He was a member of Salt Work Road Church of Christ.
Mr. Walker is survived by a daughter, Mazie M. McKee; sisters, Joe Ann Brooking, Goldie Henry, Barbara McClelland of Palestine, and Juanita Henry of Tyler.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Johnnie Lee Johnson Burks
Services for Johnnie Lee Johnson Burks, 56, of Crockett, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Crockett with the Rev. Hosea Dolphus Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Murphy Cemetery in Austonio under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home, Crockett.
Mrs. Burks died Friday at her home.
She was born July 30, 1946 in Crockett to Elbert and Fannie Mae Taylor Johnson.
Mrs. Burks attended Crockett public school and finished at Williams High School. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in the Ash community. She later united with Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She lived in Houston for 30 years before moving back to Crockett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Burks, in 1993; a sister, Polly Ann McGowan; and brothers, Daniel and John Johnson.
Mrs. Burks is survived by a sister, Annie Mae Mitchell of Trinity; and brothers, Elbert Lee Johnson and Albert D. Johnson, both of Midway, Charles Johnson of Houston and Larry Hopkin and Sidney of Phoenix, Ariz.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
