Born on March 29, 1941 in Waxahachie, the son of Allie D. and Cordie Baker, he passed away Jan. 28, 2001 at his home in Waxahachie.
Preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Tina Nash, one brother Darvin Baker, two sisters Floyce Hodge and Laura Morgan and his first wife Ann Baker; he is survived by his wife Peggy Ann Baker and Mother-in-law Kay Ryne, both of Waxahachie; sons Gene Baker, Jr., Alvis and wife Tosh, all of Illinois, Teddy Joe Baker of Mineral Wells, Cohen Steven (Bear) Baker and Larry Dean Baker, both of Waxahachie, Donnie Fisher of Waxahachie and Jerry Lowe of Kemp; daughters Terry Smith and husband Jerry of Bryan, Tammy Crandall and husband Tim of Arlington, Denice Nixon and husband Phil of Kemp; brothers Arvil Baker and wife Jo Ann of Waxahachie; brother-in-law C.H. Hodge of Grand Prairie; sisters Billie Bush of Waxahachie, Bobbie Townsend and husband Tom of Venus, Darleen West and husband Ronnie of Waxahachie, Geneva Neal of Alvarado; 24 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Interment followed in the Sardis cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Waxahachie Funeral Home.
Allison Barcevac

RED OAK – Funeral services for Allison Barcevac, 22, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Mark Seitz and Father Page Polk celebrants.
Born on Feb. 23, 1978 in Dallas, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Lou (Cusson) Barcevac, she passed away Feb. 1, 2001 at Methodist Hospital in Houston.
She is survived by her parents Joseph and Mary Lou Barcevac; grandmother Mary Ann Barcevac all of Ovilla; brother Zack Barcevac and wife Erin of Bryan; and fiancé Colby Lemon of Red Oak.
Pallbearers were Ryan Campbell, Larry Dalke, Milt Enright, Chris Kohut, David Kohut and Pat Moriarty. Honorary pallbearers were Ian Campbell and Ron Hoffman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2929 Carlisle, Suite 230, Dallas, TX 75204, in memory of Allison Barcevac.
Interment followed in the Sardis cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
Charlie Blackman Compton

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for Charlie Blackman Compton, of Waxahachie, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 at the Waxahachie Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Smith officiating.
Born on Jan. 15, 1912 in Italy, the son of Will and Sally Compton, he passed away Feb. 3, 2001 at Renfro Living Center.
He is survived by his wife Bessie Compton; son Charles Harper and wife Judy; daughter Nedra Lewis and husband Carl; brothers Berlin Compton and W.A. Compton; sisters Elizabeth Chenowth and Mable Watson; grandchildren Scott Ashton, Amy Harris, Jennifer Hoolihan and Grant Harper.
Pallbearers were Jim Couch, Randy Compton, Ronnie Compton, Keith Hines, Jerry Lewis and Tony Overdirth.
Interment followed in the Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home.

Born in Mobile, Ala., the son of Oran Jackson Cooper, Sr. and Mildred E. Saine Cooper, he passed away on Jan. 29, 2001 in Red Oak.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Cooper of Red Oak; one son Stephen Cooper of Red Oak; two daughters Christine Sweetin of Red Oak and Sheri Haganan of Grand Prairie, and six grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Red Oak Funeral Home, Berdon Byrum.
Thelma “Lucille” Davidson

Born on Oct. 28, 1916 in Greenville, the daughter of James Leonard and Verna Bosque (Morgan) Perry, she passed away Feb. 1, 2001.
Preceded in death by brother James Otis Perry and sister Grace Marie Ford; she is survived by two daughters Ferne Lyle of Waxahachie and Sue Lambeth of Midlothian; brother Delbert Heath Perry of Midland; four grandchildren Valerie Sue Windell, Donald Kay Segraves, Mike Lyle and Gary Lyle; and six great-grandchildren Shaunta and Shea Windell, Alyssa, Bailey, Blake and Lauren Lyle.
Interment followed in the Mt. Zion cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Born on Jan. 18, 1951 in Ennis, the son of Gene Byron and Peggy Joan Davis Jackson, he passed away Feb. 3, 2001 at Baylor Medical Center in Garland.
Preceded in death by his father and sister Tammy Kay Sanders; he is survived by his son Devin Byron Jackson of Denton; mother Joan Davis Jackson of Bristol; Sherry Ann Blalock of North Richland Hills; brother Michael Gene Jackson of Boyd; three aunts and one uncle.
Pallbearers were Steve Nalley, Darrell McKay, Marty Davis, David Davis, Harold Witherspoon and James McCarty. Honorary pallbearers were Billy McCarty and Larry Davis.

Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Stanley “Corky” Jordan and Roger Jordan, two sisters Mary Ann Segars and Bettye Sanders and nephew Steve Morris; he is survived by son Charles David Jordan of San Antonio; brother N.B. “Buck” Jordan and wife Jane of Waxahachie; two grandchildren Lindsey and Michelle; nieces and nephews Brent and Denna Morris, Kim and Doug Utter, Nick and Renee Jordan, Jeff and Kari Jordan and Joni Jordan Mitchell.
Pallbearers were Calvin Burks, Johnny Burks, Jeff Jordan, Nick Jordan, Brent Morris and Douglas Utter.

Born on Nov. 17, 1914 in Denton County, she passed away Feb. 4, 2001 at her residence.
Preceded in death by her husband in 1959, infant brother John Franklin Jennings, brother Clarence Jennings, two sisters Ruby Peugh and Faye Oliver; she is survived by her daughter Linda Fisher and husband Lawrence; son Tony and wife Jan all of Waxahachie; three sisters Lorena Riddle of Tahoka, Weir Keller of Alvarado and Lenora Crumpton of Waxahachie; seven grandchildren Vicki Miller, Robert Smith, Lisa Fisher, Debbie White, Kevin Lightfoot and Leslie Lightfoot; 11 great-grandchildren and special friends Mike and Linda Fabion and their daughter Christina.

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for Mildred Turner, 83, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Rev. Merwin Key Turner, Dr. Richard Reed and Rev. Bobby Reynolds officiating.
Born on May 19, 1917 in Waxahachie, the daughter of William and Pearl (Taylor) Bevers, she passed away Jan. 31, 2001 at her residence.
Preceded in death by her parents and husband; she is survived by two sons Mike Turner and wife Brenda, and Phil Turner and wife Cheryl both of Waxahachie; three grandchildren Jeff and Greta Turner and Suzanne Laviolette; and one great-grandchild Reed Laviolette.
Pallbearers were Vernon Roper, Bill Pitts, Melvin Loveless, Jack Kelley, Jack O’Bannion and James Lewis. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Fidelis Class.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Waxahachie in memory of Mildred Turner.
