LINDEN - Services for Dale E. Brindle, 79, of Jacksonville will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bear Creek Baptist Church with Brother Earnest Hodge officiating. Burial will be in Bear Creek cemetery. Mr. Brindle, a Baptist, died Monday in Jacksonville. He was born July 29, 1918, in Hazleton, N.D.

Patricia Bell Brumley
PALESTINE - Graveside services for Patricia Bell Brumley, 56, of Lewisville are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Guiceland cemetery with Dr. Jeff Cover officiating, directed by Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. Mrs. Brumley died Tuesday. Area survivors include daughter Kim Reed of Marshall and her sister, Karen Pritchett of Longview. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edwin Booth
Edwin Booth, descendant
of local pioneers, dies
FEB. 4, 1999 --Longview native and retired insurance company owner Edwin R. Booth will be remembered at memorial services 10 a.m. Friday at Church of the Holy Trinity United Church of Christ.
Booth, 78, died Tuesday. Both sets of his grandparents, James and Judith Adams and Willis and Woodie Booth were pioneers of Gregg County. Booth also co-owned Booth Insurance Agency with his brother Talmadge Booth before the former retired.
He was a charter member and elder of the Church of the Holy Trinity United Church of Christ. Booth also was a charter member of both the Gregg County Historical Foundation and the Gregg County Historical Museum.
His sister-in-law, Kitty Booth, said she will remember Booth as a wonderful storyteller who knew the history of Gregg County well.
"He knew something about everyone whose family had been in town for a while," she said. "He was so interesting. He talked about when people came to town and how things were when he was growing up."
Booth was also an antique collector and avid gardener, Kitty Booth said.
"He loved flowers. He always had lots of flowers," she said. "That came from his mother. She had every flower imaginable" at her home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rader Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Church of the Holy Trinity United Church of Christ, 3800 Judson Road, or to a Christian charity of one's choice.

James Peek Coffey
NAPLES - Services for James Peek Coffey, 85, of Omaha will be held at 10 a.m. today at Omaha Methodist Church with the Rev. Lanny Peek and the Rev. Hugh Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in Omaha cemetery. Arrangements are by Alexander Funeral Home. Mr. Coffey, a Mason, a Shriner and a retired Red River Army Depot fireman, died Tuesday in a Mount Pleasant hospital.

Pearl Atlas Siler
HENDERSON - Funeral services for Pearl Atlas Siler, 93, of Price will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Hoefner and the Rev. Mike Ledbetter officiating. Interment will be in Duncan cemetery. Miss Siler died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, at Henderson Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 1, 1904, in Rusk County, Texas. The lifelong resident of Rusk County was a member of the Good Springs United Methodist Church. A homemaker, she devoted her time to caring for her family and spent many hours working in her much-loved flower gardens. Miss Siler was preceded in death by sisters Eddie Mason and Beatrice Fletcher; brothers Earnest Siler, Boyd Siler, Clifton Siler and Will Mason; and nephew Ray Weldon Fletcher. She is survived by sister Gertrude Rettig of Price; nephews and their wives, Jack Fletcher, Joe Bill and Betty Fletcher, Bennye and Lois Siler and Steve and Sandy Siler; her nieces, Margaret Fletcher, Becky Young and her husband, Hi, and Roxie Fletcher; her great-nephews, William Boyd Siler, Sam Young, Austin Siler, Nicholas Siler, Cody Cross and Michael Krause; her great-nieces, Debbie Foster and her husband, Tim, Grace Siler, Anne Young, Ashley Foster, Robin Foster, Joan Marie Fletcher, Janice Fletcher Cross and Joni Krause; and her great-great-nieces, Ashley Foster, Robin Foster, Rebecca Evans, Lauren Evans, Mary Katherine Evans, Amber Krause and Amy Krause. Pallbearers will be Sam Young, William Boyd Siler, Bradley Joe Fletcher, Jack Fletcher, Scott Fletcher and Steve Siler. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Patterson, Abby Bradbury, Clyde Cowen and Alix LeLeux. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Good Springs United Methodist Church, 8659 CR 454 South, Henderson, TX 75654.

Benny Alvin Freeman
GLADEWATER - Services for Benny Alvin Freeman, 65, of Tyler will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Temple C.O.G.I.C., 1914 Garden Valley Road in Tyler, with Bishop J.E. Lee officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park under the direction of Dearion & Davis Funeral Parlor of Gladewater. Mr. Freeman died Sunday in a Tyler hospital. Survivors include his wife, B. Naomi Lee Freeman, and a daughter and son-in-law, LaQueta and Superintendent Melton Timmons. Viewing will be noon-8:30 p.m. at the Community Funeral Home, 1429 N. Border Ave., in Tyler.

Arthur H. Hayes
Services for Arthur H. Hayes of Longview will be held at 11 a.m. today at McCabe United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mary E. High, the Rev. Herb Spady and the Rev. Eugene Murphy officiating. His final resting place will be Jordan Valley Memorial Park, under the care of Bigham Mortuary. Mr. Hayes, a retired print setter for the Philadelphia Tribune, died on Friday in a local hospital. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Hayes, and daughter, Alice Hayes Buchanan, both of Longview; two brothers, Luther T. Hayes of Jefferson and Perry Lee Hawkins of San Francisco, Calif.; and his nephew and niece, Robert T. Hayes and Bessie Stornborn, both of Houston.

Services for A.G. Jackson, 69, of Kilgore will be held at noon Saturday at Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Kilgore with the Rev. B.B. Brown officiating. Mr. Jackson died Saturday, May 16, 1998. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Jackson of Dallas and Barbara Ann Johnson of Longview; three sons, Michael, Hosea and Donald Ray Jackson, all of Dallas; and a sister, Varie Reddy of Longview. KILGORE - Services for Dorothy Mae Wynn Jones will be held at 1 p.m. today at Mount Zion C.M.E. with the Rev. T.E. Wady officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion cemetery, directed by Cunningham Funeral Home. Mrs. Jones died Saturday at her residence. Area survivors include sons Phillip, John E., L.T. and Curtis Jones and her brother, Artis Wynn, all of Kilgore.

James A. 'Jim' McCann
Memorial services for James A. "Jim" McCann, 83, of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 22, 1998, at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Al Rodriguez and Verger John C. Murphy officiating. He died Thursday, May 19, 1998, at his residence. Mr. McCann was born Sept. 28, 1914, in Shreveport, La., where he grew up and attended school and St. Mark's Episcopal Church. He had worked in his father's tire business before becoming service manager of Firestone Tire in Shreveport. He came to Longview Feb. 1, 1938, as the youngest manager of a Firestone store in the United States. Then he and his father, James McCann Sr., opened McCann Tire Service in Longview. After a devastating fire there in 1954, he became a manager of General Tire Store until his retirement. He married his wife, Frances Magbee, in 1937. Mr. McCann was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry and as a junior warden. He was also a former member and president of the Longview Jaycees, a former member of the Longview Rotary Club and a Mason. He was on the committee who brought the Very Rev. Dr. Michael C. Macey to Longview. Mr. McCann was preceded in death by his daughter, Martha Ferguson. He is survived by his wife, Frances McCann of Longview; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Carol McCann of Huntington Beach, Calif.; his grandchildren, Susan and Bert Allen, Robert Ferguson, Tracy McCann and Paige and Kyle Medlin; his great-grandchildren, Jennifer Allen, Brian and Kim Allen, Michelle Ferguson and Randy Ferguson; two great-great-granddaughters; and many friends. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. today at Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or to Hospice of Longview.

Helmuth Timm
Graveside services for Helmuth Timm, 80, of Longview will be held at 11 a.m. today at Rosewood cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Rev. Tom Roberson officiating. Mr. Timm died Wednesday morning, May 20, 1998, at his residence. He was born on April 21, 1918, in Hamburg, Germany, and was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine and had served as a machinist mate 1st class in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Timm was a retired petroleum engineer for St. Joe Minerals, Amerada-Hess and Sulpetro. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Carolyn Timm of Seagoville; his daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Jim Lingafelter of Longview and Susan and Raymond Schutte of Katy; two sisters, Carla Nebiker and Ursula Cousineau, and a brother, Charles Timm, all of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Timm, in 1973. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at #8 Big Woods Road in Longview.

Funeral services for Lucy A. Blanchard, 90, of Longview will be held at noon today, May 22, in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Starr officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens cemetery in Colonie, N.Y., at 2 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Blanchard died Wednesday evening, May 20, 1998, at her residence. A native of Woodland, Maine, she was born May 31, 1907, and had lived in Longview for the past year, moving from Schenectady, N.Y., where she had been a registered nurse with Ellis Hospital. Mrs. Blanchard is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and James Albritton of Longview; a son and daughter-in-law, Leo- nard and Barbara Blanchard of Ellington, Ct.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will greet friends 11 a.m.-noon today at Rader Funeral Home. The family requests memorials to Hospice Longview.
