Ethel McGee
PARIS - Services for Ethel McGee, 90, of Gladewater, formerly of Paris, Texas, were held Monday at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Spanhanks officiating. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. McGee died Saturday at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview. Mrs. McGee was born, Feb. 4, 1908, in Elk City, Okla., to Dr. Joseph and Cora Pierce Ruff. She married
Clifton B. McGee on June 11, 1926, in Lamar County. She was a member of the Spring Hill First Baptist Church and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Paris. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1966; a son, Richard McGee and a granddaughter. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Cantrell of Gladewater and Greer Sue Mantooth of Sherman; two sons, Dan McGee of Farmers Branch and Ned McGee of Dallas; a brother, Joseph Max Ruff of Paris, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Irene E. Oldham
Memorial services for Irene E. Oldham, 85, of Longview will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Lakeview Mausoleum Chapel with Chaplain Ron Barber officiating. She passed away Sunday afternoon in a local nursing home. Ms. Oldham was born Jan. 3, 1913, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She loved to bowl, was secretary of several leagues, and a member of the Woman's Bowling Association. She was an airplane pilot during the 1930's. Survivors include her cousins, Juanita Pacey, LaVeta Talbutt, Betty June Brooks, Verna Jean Oldham, Grace Hearn and Eula Mae Robertson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to Hospice of Longview.

Luke Player
Graveside services for Luke Player will be held at 1 p.m. today at Memory Park cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home. He died Sunday in Tyler. Mr. Player was born on Sept. 13, 1921, in Darlington, S.C. He was a car salesman in Gladewater, Dallas and Longview for 35 years and served in Merrill's Marauders during World War II. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Luan and Norman Green of Richardson; and three grandchildren, Trey, Timothy and Melissa Green. The family will meet at 808 Toler Court in Pine Tree after the service.

George Clark Nelles
George Clark Nelles, 44, of Longview passed away Tuesday, March 17, 1998, in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 31, 1953, in Denton. He had been a resident of Longview since 1972 and was a musician. Mr. Nelles will be cremated under the direction of Welch Funeral Home. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. He is survived by his mother, Jane Nelles of Longview; a sister, Michele Lacy of Columbus, Ohio; and a nephew, Sean Lacy of Dallas.

Lois M. Hill
Funeral services for Lois M. Hill will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Longview with the Rev. Jonathan Jehorek, Dr. W.D. O'Neal and the Rev. Scott Mackey officiating. Interment will be at the Elysian Fields cemetery in Elysian Fields, Texas, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. Hill died Tuesday morning. She was born Dec. 9, 1906, in Collins, Miss., but lived in Texas most of her life. After graduating from Ballinger High School, she attended Sam Houston State University. She taught school in Waskom, Texas, for several years. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Theron Hill. She is survived by one daughter, Betty Vaughan of Longview; one daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Jack Tompkins of Frankston; eight grandchildren, Johnny Vaughan and his wife, Peggy, and Scott Vaughan and his wife, Kelly, all of Longview, Gayle Barnes and her husband, Jeff, of Dallas, Gary Vaughan of Burnett, Mike Tompkins and his wife, Lisa, of San Antonio, Charlotte Lee of Tyler, Karon Hagood and her husband, Rock, of Colleyville and Kyle Tompkins of Red Lodge, Mont.; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Huey Bazer officiating. Burial will be in the Iron Bluff cemetery in Lone Star under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Mrs. Poe was born Sunday, Oct. 2, 1921, in Pecan Gap, Texas. She died Monday, March 16, 1998, in Lone Star. She taught Sunday school at the First Baptist Church in Arlington before moving her membership to Lone Star Baptist Church. She was a home missionary and helped establish the Southern Baptist Church in the northwest territory. She was retired from Dallas Baptist University, where she worked in the business office. Mrs. Poe is survived by her husband, Jack Poe of Lone Star; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Jack and Barbara Poe of Pasadena, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Jimmie and O.W. Johnston of Daingerfield; her brothers, Doy Skinner, Jim Mac Skinner and Jack Skinner, all of Childress, Bill Skinner of Quitman and Charles Skinner of Hereford; a sister, Lee Smith of Bonham; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
