Caldwell
Marilyn J. Caldwell, 48, of Baytown, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, in Dayton.
Funeral services will be held at a later date under the direction of Stockdale-Marlin Funeral Home Camden, Tennessee with burial following at Cowell's Chapel cemetery in Camden, TN. Visitation will be held from 4 Pm to 9 Pm, Friday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.
Marilyn was born July 3, 1953 in Detroit, MI., to parents; E. T. Pierce and Joyce Bell, has resided in the Baytown area for the past 12 years, and had been a resident of southeast Texas for the past 25 years. She was a secretary for Brown and McCarrol Legal Services, and member of the Chili Pod BBQ Team and enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling state wide for cookoffs.
Mrs. Caldwell was preceded in death by her father: E. T. Pierce and step-father: Bill Whitsett. She is survived by her husband: Michael Caldwell of Baytown, son: David Pierce of Baytown, daughter: Amanda Pierce of Dayton, grandson: David Allen Pierce f Baytown, mother: Joyce Whitsett of Camden, TN., numerous other relatives, and friends.
Ripkowski
Ripkowski Bernie I. Ripkowski, 87, of Dayton, died Thursday, November 1, 2001 at the Hospice Patient Center in Crockett. A native of New Waverly, Texas, He had resided in Dayton for over 66 years. He was an employee of the Trunkline Gas company and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dayton. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, November 5, 2001 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with interment to follow at the Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton.
He is survived by his Sons: Richard S. Ripkowski and his wife Chris of Beaverton, Oregon and Bernie M. Ripkowski and his wife Connie of Corpus Christi, Texas; Daughter: Carline Patton and her husband Billy of Crockett, Texas; Brothers: Alex Ripkowski, Leon Ripkowski and his wife Mary, Bill Ripkowski, Franklin Ripkowski and his wife Mildred, John Ripkowski and his wife Julie, Mike Ripkowski and his wife Margie all of Dayton and Herman Ripkowski and his wife Jane of Liberty; Sisters: Catherine Machala and her husband Joe of Crosby, Virginia Carter of Dayton, Perline Tilton and Dayton and Anna Lee Campbell of Dayton; Grandchildren: Mysti Ripkowski Richardson, Crystal Ripkowski, B. J. Patton, Josh Patton and John Patton; Great-Grandchildren: Ashley Corrine Richardson and Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Pallbearers will be B. J. Patton, Josh Patton, Ron Alexander, Jay Alexander Keith Alexander, Michael Richardson and Jonathan Rogers.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM, until 9:30 PM Saturday, November 3, 2001 and from 9:00 AM until 9:30 PM, Sunday, November 4, 2001 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Hohn
Anastazie 'Stazie' Vyoral Hohn, 77, of Dayton, died Wednesday, October 24, 2001, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 Am, Saturday, October 27, 2001, at the St. Joseph's the worker Catholic Church in Dayton with Father Thomas Phelan officiating and burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm with wake and rosary services at 7 Pm, Friday at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.
Stazie was born April 21, 1924 in the Eastgate community, to parents; Mr. and Mrs. Vyoral and has resided there throughout her lifetime. She was a homemaker, member of St. Anne's Mission Catholic Church, attended St. Joseph's the Worker Catholic Church, member of the Alter Society and the Shepherd's Staff, and winner of numerous Grand Champion awards for her baking. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, pets including dogs, cats, and doves, and will be remembered as a giving and family orientated person.
Mrs. Hohn was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Louis Hohn, Sr., brother: Leroy Skarpa, and sister: Margaret Beasley. Survivors include her daughters: Sherri Colvin and husband Harlan of Dayton and Lynda Marie Hohn of Dayton, sons: Louis Hohn, Jr. and wife Brenda of Dayton, William Hohn of Dayton, David Hohn and wife Becky of Dayton, sisters: Betty Jane Williamson of Dayton and Lillian Spies of Houston, Nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Telford
Jolene Telford, 72, a faithful Christian and servant of our Lord Jesus Christ, died on Thursday, October 25, 2001.
Jo was born March 8, 1929 in Hightower, Liberty County Texas, to John Murphy and Ora Berry Murphy Wedell.
Jo graduated from Tarkington High School in 1947 and Married Jack K. Telford that same year.
Early in their marriage, Jack and Jo moved to the Cedar Bayou are of Baytown, Texas, where they raised their family and lived for 41 years.
While in Baytown, Jo was an active member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church.
Upon Retirement, Jack and Jo moved back to the country in Tarkington Prairie.
Jo enjoyed her country life and enveloped many wonderful friendships, especially through her beloved church, Rural Shade Baptist Church of Tarkington Prairie.
Jo was a loving and devoted wife for over 54 years to her husband, Jack, who survives her and will cherish her memory forever.
Jo was also a precious Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother.
She is survived by Daughter: Pamela Sue Telford Patrick and Husband, Raymond of Houston; Son: Darrell Keith Telford and Wife Candice Marie of Tarkington Prairie; Grandchildren: Jason Keith Telford and Wife, Alicia and Kenya Paige Telford; Great-grandchild: Makenzie Aaron Ripkowski.
She was preceded in death by one Great-Grandson: Chase Aaron Siebert and her Brother: Lloyd Lee Murphy. Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, October 29, 2001 at Rural Shade Baptist Church in Tarkington Prairie.
Interment will follow at Ryan cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 27, 2001, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Burton
Nelda M. Burton, 61, of Dayton, died Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at her residence.
She was a native of Weeches, Texas, had lived in Dayton for the last 6 years and had previously lived in Crockett and was a homemaker.
Services will be held at 3:30 PM, Thursday, October 25, 2001 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with the Mr. Roger Kellum officiating. Burial will follow at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home of Dayton.
She is survived by her Husband: Vennis Skiles of Dayton; Mother: Lillian Hollis of Grapeland; Sons: Richard Hollis of Tyler; Daughter: Kay Skiles and her husband Kirk of Slidell, Louisiana and Tine Owners of Dayton; Brothers: Jesse Hollis, Sr. and his wife Louise of Manville, Texas, Doug Hollis of Crockett and Wayne Hollis of Grapeland; Sisters: Shirley Reed and her husband Floyd of Lovelady and Eloise Richardson of Grapeland; 12 Grandchildren and numerous Nieces, Nephews and Loved Ones. Pallbearers will be: Chris Scott, Clint Scott, Kevin Hollis, Buster Shaw, Roger Kellum, Jesse Hollis, Jr. and Homer Davis.
Visitation will begin at 5 PM, Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
McClosky
Janie McClosky, 82, of Pasadena, died Sunday, October 21, 2001 at her residence.
Graveside services will be held at 2 Pm, Tuesday, October 23, 2001, at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton, with Father Thomas Phelan officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, with wake services held at 7 Pm Monday at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.
Janie was born January 20, 1919 in Anderson, to parents; Mark and Frances Ulkie McClosky, a former resident of Dayton, and has resided in the Pasadena area for the past 49 years. She was a retired PBX Operator for the Magnolia/Century Paper Companies in Houston, graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1937, member of the Pioneer Class, past president and member of the PBX Club of Houston, and was catholic by faith. She enjoyed watching sports, working crossword puzzles, playing the piano and organ, and family and club functions made her fondest memories.
Miss McClosky was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and three brothers.
Survivors include her sister: Rosa Kay of Pasadena, two nephews: A. A. 'Buddy' McClosky of Pasadena and Paul Damek of Liberty, six nieces: Cornelia D. 'Klee' Ripkowski of Baytown, Ruby Vyoral of Liberty, Adelle Derrington of Marlin, Mildred Ripkowski of Dayton, Jeanette Mullunex of Beaumont, and Maxine Gray of Memphis, TN., and numerous great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Emmitt Elmar Smith, 84, of Liberty, died Monday, October 22, 2001 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 4 PM, Thursday, October 25, 2001 at the First Methodist Church in Liberty. Interment will follow at Cooke cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 PM until 9 PM at Allison Funeral Services.
Mr. Smith was a native of Sabine, Texas and had lived in Liberty 51 years. He was owner operator of Smith Wholesale and was a Salesman of Burnham Chevrolet. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and Liberty Lodge #48. He enjoyed fishing & hunting and was always willing to help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lucille Smith, 3 sisters & 2 brothers.
He is survived by his daughter Sandra Jackson & husband H.D. of Goodrich, TX; son Larry Smith & wife Lillian of Tulsa, OK, Terry A. Smith of Goodrich, TX; brother Trubie Smith of Liberty. 5 Grandchildren & 10 Great Grandchildren.
Guedry
Bertie B. Jordan Guedry, 77 of Batson, died Monday, October 22, 2001 at Methodist Hospital in Houston.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, October 25, 2001 at Batson Prairie Baptist Church in Batson with Rev. Butch Perkins & Rev. Cecil Burns officiating. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson. Visitation will be from 11 AM until 9 PM on Wednesday at the Church.
Mrs. Guedry was a native of Kilgore, TX and had lived in Batson most of her life. She retired from Goodwill Industries in Houston. She was a member of the Batson Prairie Baptist Church, Sunday School Teacher, GA and a W.M.U. Bertie enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, crafts, and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her husband Otis Guedry and a daughter Bertie Jean Guedry.
She is survived by her daughters Iora Lou Dillon & husband Bill of Batson, Aledith DeGaugh & husband Michael of Damascus, MD, Elaine Finklemeyer & husband Gary of Houston; sons Jay Guedry & wife Pam of Houston, Bob Guedry & wife Janice of Batson; sisters Mary Sue Jordan of Sour Lake, Nadine Dagle of Batson, Faye Hallick of Montrose, VA; 10 Grandchildren & 16 Great Grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Martin
Gloria Marie Martin, 87, of Beaumont, and formerly of Daisetta, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2001 at her residence.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty, Texas with Rev. Max Crawford officiating. Interment to follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson, Texas. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 23, 2001 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty, Texas.
Mrs. Martin was born February 23, 1914 in Jeanerette, La. She was a longtime resident of Daisetta, Texas. She resided at Baton Arms Retirement Center in Beaumont for the past three and a half years. Gloria retired as a Nurse from Yettie Kersting Memorial Hospital in Liberty, Texas.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband: Otis Martin and son: Kenneth Martin.
Survivors include her daughter, Delores Roubieu of LaBelle, Texas; Sons: Val “Sonny” Martin of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. and Eugene Martin of Cove, Texas. She is also survived by daughter-in-laws, Darlene Martin and LaJuana Morrow and son-in-laws, Bill Morrow and Melvin Sexton. 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. All of which carry a tremendous amount of love that Gloria poured out to each one as “MaMa” and “MawMaw”.
