Penny Jo Petty Arthur
Services for Penny Jo Petty Arthur, 51, of Grapeland, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Bradley and Kenneth Mobley officiating. Burial will follow in Antrim Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Arthur died Sunday at her residence.
She was born July 11, 1951 in Madisonville to Milton W. and Edna Brown Petty.
Mrs. Arthur graduated from Grapeland High School in 1969 and attended Sam Houston State University. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was an administrator for W.A. Brown Realty.
Mrs. Arthur was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Milton C. Petty.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Arthur of Grapeland; a daughter, Karrie Jo Merchant - USN - Norfolk, Va.; sons, Ryan Lee Arthur of Grapeland and Paul Arthur of Athens; and sister, Jean North of Ovilla.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Murphy, Mike Herrington, Jackie Cheatham, Gregg Brown, Buzz Kelley and Joe McGee.

Eleanor Easley
Services for Eleanor Easley, 79, of Elkhart, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster with the Rev. Howard Huhn officiating. Burial will follow in Strong Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Easley died Sunday at King’s Daughter Hospital in Temple.
She was born March 20, 1923 in Watkins, Minn. to John W. and Lilly E. Hanson Johnson.
Mrs. Easley was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkhart and had work as a medication aide at the Elkhart Nursing Home for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Easley, in 2000.
Mrs. Easley is survived by her sons, Charles Easley of Belton and Lynn Easley of Elkhart; sisters, Donna Wakefield and Margaret Elstad, both of Litchfield, Minn.; brother, Vernon Johnson of Litchfield, Minn.; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Carnes, Bobby Jones, Mack Butler, Richard Spencer and Doyle Campbell.
Douglas Melvin Cutler
Services for Douglas Melvin Cutler, 70, of Grapeland were at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Davey Ray Hobson officiating. Burial followed in Grapeland City Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mr. Cutler died Sunday at Spring Seasons of Elkhart.
He was born Sept. 11, 1932, in Sheppard to Roscoe and Alma Lee Owens Cutler.
Mr. Cutler was a carpenter and worked for many years with the Hollywood Overhead Door Company in Houston. He was a member and deacon of Muse Baptist Church.
Mr. Cutler was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester Odell Cutler and Jerel Cutler.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Cutler of Grapeland; daughter, Lanita Cutler Weisinger of Houston; son, Dennis Cutler of Grapeland; sisters, Owena Miles and Carolyn Bates, both of Tyler; brothers, Butch Cutler of Houston and Doyle Kirkpartick of Manvel; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jamie Hogan, Boyd Ray, Charles Abernathy, Nathan Dyess and Glen Bowman.
Charles M. Courtney
Funeral arrangements for Charles M. Courtney are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Courtney died this morning at Dogwood Trails Advanced Health Care.
Clinton Eugene Hankins
Services for Clinton Eugene Hankins, 74, of Crockett, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Palestine City Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Glenn officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Hankins died Monday in Crockett.
He was born Dec. 31, 1927, in Palestine to Morris Clay Hankins and Thelma Black Daigle Hankins.
Mr. Hankins had been a deputy sheriff for Anderson County and worked with the National Scientific Balloon Base.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in Berlin with the rank of corporal and was a military athletic instructor.
Mr. Hankins is survived locally by friends, Jannette Arnold, Jo Maddoux and Jan Madden.
Pearl Davis
Funeral arrangements for Pearl Davis, 67, are pending at McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
Myrtle L. Mooneyhan
Services for Myrtle L. Mooneyhan, 88, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Bailey & Foster Chapel with John Horner and Mark Smith officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park.
Mrs. Mooneyhan died Wednesday in a local hospital.
She was born Oct. 30, 1914 in Ellis County to Alfred Benjamin Dyess and Martha Carrie Storey Dyess.
Mrs. Mooneyhan was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Winfred Mooneyhan, in 1972; daughter, Bobbie Lucille Bonner; brothers, Wayne Dyess, Clovis Dyess; grandchild, Janet Threet; and great-grandchild, Brandon Walker.
Mrs. Mooneyhan is survived by a daughter, Marie Smith and husband Carrie of Waxahachie; son, R.O. Wilson of Palestine; sister, Stacy Jarrett of Garland; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Rozanne Rogers
Services for Rozanne Rogers, 47, of Waco, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Palestine with the Rev. Mike Glenn officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.
Miss Rogers died Saturday at her residence.
She was born Aug. 13, 1955 in Bonham to John Reid Rogers Jr. and Ethel Nemer Rogers.
Miss Rogers graduated from Robinson High School in Waco and attended McLennan Community College. She was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
Miss Rogers was a yard manager for the B&L Construction Company in Waco. She had been employed by the company since 1976. In November of 1985 Miss Rogers was among 45 women in McLennan County to be honored by the Women’s Issues Forum of the Waco YWCA and 13 other organizations as a pathfinder for distinguishing herself as first in her field and paving a path for other women to follow.
Miss Rogers grew up looking over the shoulder of her grandfather who was a woodworker. At the age of eight she learned how to use a saw and today would make bookcases, picture frames and wood and glass display cases in her spare time. She also was an avid photographer and artist, and enjoyed fishing.
Miss Rogers was preceded in death by her parents; and infant brother, John Nemer Rogers; two aunts, Hazel Nemer Nichols and Julia Nemer Kraus; uncles, Coster Nemer, Nicholas Nemer and Jimmy Rogers.
She is survived locally by her aunts, Jay Nemer Mann and Rose Nemer, both of Palestine, and Rosalie Rogers Weisler of Marble Hill, Mo.; uncle, Alexander Nemer Sr. of Palestine; numerous cousins; and many loyal friends in Waco.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 940, Palestine, Texas 75802 or to the charity of choice.
Vashti Starkey
Services for Vashti Starkey, 91, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Benny Burlison officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park.
Mrs. Starkey died Wednesday at Cartmell Home for Aged.
She was born March 9, 1911, in Anderson County to Lon Killion and Mary Lively Killion.
Mrs. Starkey was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Elkhart. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by husband, Grady Starkey Sr.; sisters, Idola Crain and Viola Denson; and brother, Cliff Killion.
Mrs. Starkey is survived by daughters, Mary Ann McCracken of Palestine and Joyce Rowland of Tyler; sons, Grady Starkey Jr. of Lake Palestine, Jimmy Starkey of Elkhart and Charles Lee Starkey of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; sisters, Jewel Gunther of Dallas and Audean Muskeit of Houston; brothers, Clyde Killion of Palestine and Wren Killion of Palestine; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Benny Phillips, David Starkey, Doug Rowland, David Kimbrough, Tony Mayo and Ralph Hughes.

Willie Earl Pierson Sr.
Services for Willie Earl Pierson Sr., 53, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul AME Church in Oakwood with the Rev. Herman L. Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Family Cemetery in Oakwood under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Pierson died Monday in Houston. A wake will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Houston.
Theodore Charles Granger
Services for Theodore Charles Granger, 63, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of Emanuel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pauper Field Cemetery.
Mr. Granger died Monday at his home.
He was born Dec. 19, 1938 in Port Arthur to Paul J. and Thelma LaGrange Granger.
Mr. Granger attended school in Port Arthur. He was a Baptist and a retired construction worker and roofer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, P.J. Granger Jr., Harris Granger and Kerney Granger.
Mr. Granger is survived by sons, Jeff Granger of Navasota and Steve Granger of Batson; daughters, Tracy Alexander of Franklin, Lacey Wesolick of Navasota, and Teddie Cox and Heather Berryhill, both of Palestine; sisters, Patsy Toups of Nederland and Jacklyn Boussard; a stepdaughter, Mary Estrada of Palestine.
Stafford Chandler
Services for Stafford Chandler, 77, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wills Point Church of Christ with Maxie Boren, Alvis Nickols and Shawn Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Cana Cemetery under the direction of Eubanks Funeral Home.
Mr. Chandler died Monday at his home.
He was born Aug. 1, 1924 to Leslie Carmon and Augusta Amelia Gunderson Chandler in Van Zandt County. He married Patsy Louise Brown on Oct. 26, 1946.
Mr. Chandler was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was an active member of various churches of Christ, including Cliffwood Church of Christ for 38 years and Wills Point Church of Christ.
He worked for Temco Aircraft Corp., quality control until his retirement in 1990. He lived in Dallas for 47 years, moving back to Van Zandt County in 1998.
Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by brothers, Carmon Adolph Chandler, Ansel Charles Chandler and Leslie Junior Chandler.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Chandler; son, Farris William Stafford of Cedar Hill; daughter, Melanie Henderson of Canton; brothers, William Irvine Chandler of Palestine, James Martin Chandler of DeSoto, Clifton Horace Chandler of Midlothian and Gene Ray Chandler of Tyler; sisters, Nellie Marie Thomas of Mabank and Melba Irene Roberts of Canton; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Clinton Sawyer, Dennis Cliborn Jr., Alex Skvortsov, Brant Chandler, Bobby Chandler, Kenny Chandler, Keith Chandler and Leslie Thomas. Honorary pallbearer will be Brady Roberts.

Doris Wood Hall
Services for Doris Wood Hall, 78, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gregory Megill officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Hall died Wednesday morning at Cartmell Home for the Aged.
She was born April 4, 1923, in Lufkin to James P. Wood Jr. and Minnie Mae Hallmark Wood.
Mrs. Hall was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the UMW. She was an accomplished seamstress, member of Harvey Woman’s Club and TOPS, where she received many awards.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Roy W. Hall of Palestine; daughters, Suzy Wright of Ore City, Helen Grigsby of League City and Nancy Page of Farmersville; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Clark, Mark Page, David Page and David Eaves.
