Roberts
Pearl Roberts, 77 of Liberty, died at her residence on Wednesday, November 3, 2004.
A native and lifelong resident of Liberty County, she was a member of the Wilderness Church Of God in Ames, was a retired school dietician and had worked for the past four years at The Project For The Aging in Liberty where she served meals to the elderly.
She is preceded in death by her Parents: Columbus Nugent and Melina Fregia Nugent; Husband: J. W. Roberts; 3 Brothers; 1 Sister and 2 Great-Grandsons.
Visitation for Mrs. Pearl Roberts will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2004 from 5:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.
She is survived by her Sons: Donald Roberts and his wife Sherry of Liberty; David Fregia and his wife Kathy of Liberty; Brother: Louis Nugent and his wife Virginia of Arkansas; Sister: Naomi Crouthers and her husband Rev. James Crouthers of Liberty; 8 Grandchildren; 16 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2004 at 11:00 A. M., in the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lamar Shane officiating. Burial will follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton.

David Crouthers, Sr., 49, of Liberty, died Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at his home.
He was a native and life-long resident of the Liberty area, and worked as an operator for the Devers Canal System for the last 7 years. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2004 at the Central Baptist Church in Daisetta, with Rev. Jimmy Van Dorn officiating. Burial will follow at the Monroe Fregia cemetery in Liberty under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.
He is survived by: Wife: Linda Fregia Crouthers of Liberty; Son: David Crouthers, Jr. of Mont Belvieu; Parents: James Crouthers, Sr. and Naomi Crouthers of Liberty; Grandsons: Macie Laine Crouthers of Daisetta, and Hunter Evan Crouthers of Old River; Brothers: James Crouthers, Jr. of Liberty, Daymon Crouthers of Liberty and Columbus Crouthers of Arkansas; Sisters: Evelyn Satterwhite of Liberty, Jenny Able of Liberty and Lillie Tinney of Liberty and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be: Bucky Crouthers, Matthew Tinney, Andrew Tinney, John Vail, Billy Vail and T. J. Marcantell.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: R. W. Fregia and James Michael Fregia.

Samuel "Sam" Edwards, Sr. 67, of Dayton, died Sunday, November 14, 2004, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.
Funeral services will be held at 1 Pm, Saturday, November 20, 2004, at the Abundant Life Church with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 6 Pm to 9 Pm, Friday, at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Sam was born August 27, 1937 in Mallet, LA, to parents; John and Millie Strickland Edwards, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 38 years. He was a retired rice farmer for Sonny Damek in Dayton with 20 years of service, member of the Abundant Life Church, former board member of the Dayton Housing Authority, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.
Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Audrey Hebert Edwards, and brother: Earl Edwards, Sr. He is survived by his daughters: Angela E. Babineaux and husband Jerome of Houston, Millie E. Harvey and husband Calvin of Dayton, Abigail E. McGee and husband Eric, Jr. of Dayton, sons: Samuel Edwards, Jr. of Dayton, Joseph P. Edwards, Sr. of Dayton, and Paul L. Evelyn Smotherman Patton, 88, of Moss Hill, died Monday, November 15, 2004, at the Magnolia Place Health Care Center in Liberty.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Pm, Thursday, November 18, 2004 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following at Moss Hill cemetery. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Evelyn was born December 31, 1916 in Joaquin, to parents; Joseph L. and Molly Jackson Smotherman, and has resided in the Moss Hill area for the past 67 years. She was a homemaker, graduate of the Joaquin High School class of 1933, member, secretary, and treasurer of the Moss Hill Baptist Church, and member of the Woodmen‚s Circle, and the WMU. She also enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Patton was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 36 years: Millard Patton, son-in-law: R. A. Smith, three brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her sons: John Patton and wife Kebbie of Anchorage, AK and James Patton and wife Sharon of Glenrose, daughter: Pat Smith of Dayton, sister: Mattie Jo Rasonette of Ball, LA, four grandchildren: Suzi, David, and Michael Smith, and Jason Patton, five great-grandchildren, special family member: Ronnie Webb of Glenrose, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Farris
Kathleen Ruth Farris, age 77, of Daisetta, died in a Liberty nursing home, Saturday, November 13, 2004.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Daisetta, TX with the Reverend Gene Lovering officiating, with burial following in the Oakdale cemetery in Daisetta, TX. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2004, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Allison Funeral Service 1101 Norh Travis Street, Liberty, TX.
Kathleen was born September 6, 1927 in a Phillipsburg, Texas farmhouse and was baptized Kathleen Ruth Kelling. Her parents were Wilhelm Frederich and Nelda Anne Blum Kelling. Kathleen was the third child of eight children. Her brothers were: Willie, Rudy, Ray, and Dan, her sisters were: Edith, Marie, and Elsie.
Kathleen entered the Nurse’s Cadet Corps at the Hermann Hospital School of nursing in 1943. She completed her nurse’s training and became a Registered Nurse in 1946.
Kathleen met Quentin Farris on December 5, 1948. They married
on December 25, 1948. They spent their entire married
life in Daisetta. Kathleen and Quentin had five children: Bill, Ann, Mark, Nance, and Tom. Nancy died in 1969.
Kathleen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and joined the Methodist Church after coming to live in Daisetta, with Quentin.
Survivors are: Husband, Quentin, children: Bill, Ann Guedry, Mark, and Tom. Twelve grandchildren: Sarah Guedry, Emily, Matthew, Bill, Tom, Joanna, Jack, Steve, Andy, Dan, Margaret, and Penelope Farris, siblings: Rudy Kelling, Edith Gilmore, and Marie Wilson.

Robert L. Paw-Paw‚ Rao, 56, of Hardin, Died Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at the John Sealy Hospital in Galveston.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Pm, Saturday, November 13, 2004, at the Lighthouse Church in Moss Hill with burial following at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin. Robert was born December 8, 1947 in Beaumont, to parents; Joseph B. and Florence Parker Rao, and has resided in the Hardin area for the past 27 years. He was a heavy equipment operator for H & O Services of Saratoga, member of The Lighthouse Church, volunteer and committee member of many T. V. E. functions, and enjoyed trail rides, driving his tractor, and cooking.
Mr. Rao was preceded in death by his father: Joseph B. Rao, Sr., son: Lonnie Joe Rao, Sr., daughter-in-law: Floda Rao, grandson: Lonnie Joe Rao, Jr., and granddaughter: Krista Leneigh Rao. He is survived by his wife of 40 years: Linda Lucas Rao of Hardin, daughter: Debbie M. Watson and husband Richard of Hardin, son: Robert L. Rao, Jr. and wife Suzy of Mt. Enterprise, six grandchildren: Richard, Derrick, and Brandon Watson, and Tiffany, Christopher, and Kelby Rao, sister: Daisy A. Prince of Silsbee, brothers: Joseph B. Rao, Jr. of Beaumont, and Glen A. Rao and wife Sandra of Beaumont, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Cecil
Cynethia Meshia Cecil, age 67, of Liberty, TX, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004, in a Houston Care Center.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 10:00 A. M. at the Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 with Mr. Kevin Ladd officiating. Burial will follow in the Anahuac cemetery in Anahuac, TX. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 12, 2004 at Allison Funeral Service from 5:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Cecil was born to John Allen Meadows and Vera Alice Williams Meadows on November 5, 1937 in Roswell, New Mexico. She graduated from the Roswell High School in 1955 and later married
Donald Ray Cecil. She was a homemaker and very active in the DAR, the UDC, and was the chartering President of the Thomas Jefferson Chambers Chapter # 2591 United Daughters of the Confederacy, and former member of the Robert E, Lee Chapter # 186 of the UDC, and a member of the John Champion Chapter of the National Society of Colonial Dames. Cynethia was an active genealogist, She was a member of the Liberty County n Historical Commission and the Chambers County Heritage Society, and a longtime volunteer for the Wallisville Heritage Park Museium in Wallisville. She had spent several decades raising, showing and training Rottweilers and caring for abandoned or mistreated dogs. She could grow just about anything in her garden.
Cynethia is preceded in death by her father: John Allen Meadows, and her husband: Donald Ray Cecil. Survivors are two sons: Joseph Lyonel Cecil and John Meadows Cecil and wife Laura, all of Houston, TX, a niece: Kimberly Smith of Tennessee.
Alford
Earline J. Alford, 76, of Hardin, died Monday, November 8, 2004, at the Madison St. Joseph Health Care Center in Madisonville.

Earline was born October 1, 1928 in Goose Creek, to parents; Larkin M. and Georgia Bell Ballard Hilton, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in the Hardin area since 1946. She was a cook for the Liberty I.S.D., where she worked for the elementary school for ten years, was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, and the Nolan D. Pickett VFW Post Auxiliary. She also enjoyed silk flower arranging, travel, camping, and the outdoors.
Mrs. Alford was preceded in death by her parents, husband: William T. Alford, Sr. and son: Raymond F. Alford. She is survived by her son: William T. Alford, Jr. and wife Patsy of Hardin, daughter: Alice Middleton and husband Wayne of Iola, sister: Velma Ashley of Onalaska, seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Kathryn E. Turner Hill, 42, of Dayton, died Friday, August 20, 2004, at her residence.

Travis Lee Pilgreen, 19, of Dayton, died Friday, August 20, 2004, in Saratoga.
Graveside services will be held at 2 Pm, Monday, August 23, 2004, at Guedry cemetery in Batson with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from 10 Am to 12 Pm, Monday at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace~Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Travis was born December 15, 1984 in Liberty to parents; Travis L. Pilgreen and Annette Sheckler, and has resided in the Dayton area throughout his life. He was a roughneck for Five “J” Oilfield Services, had attended the West Hardin High School, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sports; especially baseball.
Mr. Pilgreen was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather: A. F. Pilgreen. He is survived by his wife: Crystal Preston-Pilgreen of Batson, daughter: Cheleby Pilgreen of Batson, mother: Annette Fuentes and husband Jose of Dayton, father: Travis L. Meshell
Huey Fred “Hoss” Meshell, 72 of Liberty, died Friday, August 20, 2004 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 2pm, Sunday, August 22, 2004 in Willis cemetery with Rev. Richard Amador officiating. Visitation will be from 5p until 8pm on Saturday at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty.
Mr. Meshell was a native of Hemphill, Texas and a former resident of Conroe before moving to Liberty in 1994. He was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, western movies, joking, and being outdoors.
He is preceded in death by his parents John Ashford & Mary Stanley Meshell.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn Meshell of Conroe; sons Fred E. Meshell, Sr. & wife Carolyn of Porter, Ernest R.
