Miguel Curiel, 29, of Anahuac, died Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

He was a longtime resident of Anahuac, graduate of Anahuac High School in 1996 and attended Lee College, where he received a degree in Technical Processing. He worked as a Process Technician with Dow Chemicals in Freeport for the last 6 years and enjoyed his children and playing and watching soccer.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Anahuac with burial to follow at the Anahuac cemetery.

He is survived by: Wife: April Curiel of Anahuac; Sons: Miguel Curiel of Anahuac and Marcos Curiel of Anahuac; Parents: Angel and Raquel Curiel of Anahuac; Sister: Susanna DeLaCruz of Anahuac; Brother Luis Curiel of Anahuac and Grandfathers: Rafel Curiel of Mexico and Luis Garcia of Mexico. Pallbearers will be: Angel Curiel, Luis Chavez, Guillermo Garcia, Joe Lofton, Albert Lofton, Victor DeLaCruz and Ernie Serrata.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Michael Connor, Stacy Levias, Mike Shields and Chris Hernandez. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2006 at the Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Cobb

Sherry Gayle Taylor Cobb, 45, of Liberty, died Friday, April 14, 2006 at her residence.

She was born October 29, 1960 in Dayton to her Parents: Tommy Taylor and Marie Fregia Taylor. She had lived in Liberty most of her life and attended the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Daisetta. Sherry enjoyed raising flowers and keeping her house organized.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Daisetta, with Rev. Nolan Taylor and Rev. Joann Vining officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakdale cemetery in Daisetta.

She is survived by: Mother: Marie Taylor of Liberty; Brother: Alvin Dewayne Taylor and his wife Tammy of Liberty; Sister: Laura Trousdale and her husband Willie of Liberty; Grandmothers: Ethel Fregia of Liberty and Shattie Taylor of Liberty; Nieces and Nephews: Joshua Taylor, Kimber Taylor, Kasandra Taylor, Ashley Watson and Richard Watson; Great-Nieces: Madison Watson and Tiffany Trousdale. She was preceded in death by: Husband: John Cobb and Father: Tommy Taylor.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Daisetta.

Linney

Rev. Jack B. Linney, 83, of Muldoon, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at the St. Mark‚s Hospital in LaGrange.

Funeral services will be held at 2 Pm, Monday, April 17, 2006, at the Greens Bayou Assembly of God Church in Houston with burial following at Linney cemetery in Dayton. Visitation with family receiving friends, will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm, Sunday. Visitation will continue to 9 pm, Sunday, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Bro. Jack was born January 19, 1923 in Dayton, to parents; George and Cora Linney, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Muldoon area for the past 30 years. He was a graduate of Sam Houston High School class of 1941 and Texas A&M University, veteran of the US Army with service during WW II, a retired pastor and district official for the Assembly of God Church with 50 years of service, and enjoyed gardening, cattle, and travel.

Mr. Linney was preceded in death by his parents, son: Jack B. Linney, Jr., three brothers, and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Juanita Fregia Linney of Muldoon, sons: Rev. Steve Linney and wife Christi of Weatherford, Tim Linney and wife Loanne of Katy, Rev. Mike Linney and wife Deleana of Austin, and Paul Linney of East Texas, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 15 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pinckard

Ernest Lee Pinckard, 69, of Liberty, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Ernest was born January 19, 1937 in Livingston, to parents; Sidney "Peg" and Alice Yates Pinckard. He was a graduate of the Kountze High School class of 1956, had attended St. Phillips and Lamar University, obtained his teacher‚s certificate from Texas A & M University, a member of the North Main Baptist Church, veteran of the US Air Force. In his career, he taught at the Edgewood I.S.D. in San Antonio for four years and the Beaumont I.S.D. for fifteen years, before retiring. Mr. Pinckard also enjoyed bird watching, camping, reading, and woodworking.

Mr. Pinckard was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife: Carolyne Byrd Pinckard of Liberty, sons: Kenneth T. Pinckard of Liberty and Steven L. Pinckard and wife Melissa K. of Liberty, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Rogers

Fred Morris “Fritz” Rogers died on Saturday, April 8, 2006. Services will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2006 10:00 am at Allison Funeral Home in Liberty, Texas. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 12, from 6-8 p.m. at the Allison Funeral Home in Liberty, Texas.

Fritz was born in Daisetta, Texas, November 27, 1921. He was the son of Ella Maywald Rogers and Harry Odell Rogers. He was the youngest of seven children: Harry Jr., Jack, Vernon, Mabel, Gordon, and Nadine. He was a lifelong resident of Daisetta, but due to his illness moved to Waco, September of 2005 to be with his daughter Harriet Shearer and family.

Fritz was one of the last remaining members of the 1937-1940 Hull-Daisetta Bobcat Football teams that won 43 consecutive games. During that time, he was a running back and was a member of the backfield call “The Four Horsemen”.

Fritz met and married the love of his life, Juanita Bolding, of Warren, Texas, on April 23, 1943. They had one daughter, Harriet Jane. They were married 52 years.

Fritz had many interests but had one lifelong passion of raising horses. He raised most of the horses he owned, treating them as a pet rather than a workhorse. Fritz also enjoyed feeding and telling stories about his pet alligators. Other interests included deer hunting, fishing, building and welding, traveling, cooking, and sitting outdoors.

Fritz was a member of the Hull Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and also served on Hull-Daisetta’s School Board and City Council. He gave 43 years of service to The Texas Company which later became Texaco. His jobs included production, derrick man to roustabout, gang pusher, and pumper. Following retirement, he worked for the Curtis Hankamer Company as a pumper.

Fritz joined the First Baptist Church of Daisetta in 1950 and was baptized the same day as his daughter Harriet. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Daisetta at the time of his death.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Juanita Rogers in 1995, and his parents, brothers, and sisters. He is survived by his daughter Harriet Rogers Shearer and son-in-law Tom Shearer of Waco; Grandson Steve Shearer, and wife Teresa Shearer of Salado; and Granddaughter Stacie Shearer Lathern and husband Jeff Lathern of Waco. Great-grandchildren include Taylor and Samuel Shearer, Grant and Pearson Lathern, and step-granddaughter Hailey Lathern. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Ruth Rogers of San Antonio and Betty Lou Maywald Whitley of Merryville, Louisiana, and two nephews and seven nieces.

Serving as pall bearers are Bobby Rogers, Roy Bolding, Dr. Randy Froelich, Harvey Ashcraft, Frank Chalfant, and Nathan Barrier. Honorary pall bears include Jimmy May Sr., Harold McCann, Percy O’Quinn, Ed Theis, and Horace Young.

Fritz will be buried with his loving wife and family in Oakdale cemetery in Daisetta, Texas. Memorials may be made Central Baptist Church of Daisetta, Texas.

Chennault

Davie Chennault, 66, of Liberty died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at the Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

He was born September 16, 1939 in Gilroy, California to his late Parents: Joseph Austin Chennault and Wilma Glasco Chennault. Mr. Chennault had lived in Liberty for the last 12 years and had previously lived in Old River and Crosby. Davie retired as a Counselor from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after 10 years of service and as a millwright from U.S. Steel after working for 20 years. He had also served as a union steward in the steel workers union and enjoyed traveling, photography and collecting numerous different items.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2006 at the White Chapel cemetery in Highlands with Dr. Jimmie Clemmons officiating.

Services will be under the direction of Allison Funeral Service in Liberty. He is survived by: Wife: Carolyn Chennault of Liberty; Sons: Davie Duane Chennault and his wife Wendy of New Jersey, Darrel Chennault and his wife Debra of Crosby, Dale Chennault and his wife Roxanne of Crosby, Danny Burk and his wife Marsha of Baytown and Donnie Burk and his wife Tracy of Wallisville; Sisters: Jeri Davis of California, Carolyn DeLong of California and Yvonne Graham of California; Special Friends: Nancy Leva of Arkansas and Margie Hagan of Liberty; Father-in-law: Howard Parker of Liberty; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law: Daryl and Marsha Parker of Dayton and numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and loving Relative and Friends.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2006 at the Allison Funeral Chapel in Liberty. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Anayat House, Inc, P.O. Box 5934, Beaumont, Texas 77726-5934.

King

Kathrina Hazlip “Tinker” King, 58, died on Saturday April 8, 2006 at the Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

She was born on September 10, 1047 in Port Arthur, Texas to Parents: Henry Vincent Hazlip and Thelma Louise Chrisler. Previously of Nederland, Tinker moved to the Moss Bluff and Liberty area at the age of six and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mont Belvieu, a graduate of Liberty High School, enjoyed traveling and had one of the greatest hobbies anyone could ever have. Her hobby was her Granddaughters: Abigail and Victoria. She loved the time spent with the grandchildren and enjoyed them as much as possible.

She is survived by her Son: James King and his wife Christina of Mont Bellvieu; Granddaughters: Abigail King and Victoria King both of Mont Belvieu; Sister: Francis Oliver and her husband Frank of Lumberton; Nieces: Judi Oliver of League City, Michelle Oliver of Lumberton and Dolly Oliver of League City; Nephews: Doug Hazlip, Randy Hazlip both of Moss Bluff and Keith Hazlip of Old River; 4 Great-Neices and 1 Great-Nephew as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 6:30 P. M. at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty. She is preceded in death by her Parents; Brother: Henry Vincent Hazlip, Jr. and Nephew: Kelly Lee Hazlip.

Gruver

Lorene Deann Gruver, 4 months of Houston passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston.

She was born on November 24, 2005 in Humble, Texas to Parents: Richard W. Gruver and Tifny Spring Gruver. Her brief but very memorable and eventful life here on earth touched so many that loved her.

She has left to mourn her passing, her Parents: Richard and Tifny Gruver of Humble; Sister: Layla Cheyenne Gruver of Humble; Paternal Grandparents: Lee Gruver and his wife Marcia of Huffman and Sandra Dulaney of Cleveland; Paternal Great-Grandparents: Deann Gruver of Huffman and Clarence Gruver and wife Rita of Pasadena; Maternal Grandparents: Steve Abel of Humble and Tammy McCullough and husband Kevin of Humble; Maternal Great-Grandmother: Hazel Smith of Humble; Aunts and Uncles: Lee Gruver Jr. of Houston, Jason Gruver and his wife Krystal of Humble, Michael Gruver of Huffman, Tracy Jones of Huffman, Paul Gonzales of Cypress, Matthew Abel and his wife Kristy of Humble and Michael Abel and his wife Laura of Channelview and Numerous Cousins and other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 10, 2006 from 5:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Funeral Services for Lorene Deann Gruver will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 2:00 P. M. at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton with the Rev. Clarence Gruver officiating. Burial will follow at Huffman cemetery in Huffman.

Drake

Michelle Drake, 45, of Dayton, died Sunday, April 2, 2006 at her residence.

She was born February 27, 1961 in Harlingen. She was a longtime resident of the Houston area, graduating from Waltrip High School, and then going on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. Michelle attended the First Baptist Church in Dayton and enjoyed reading, working puzzles and watching Law and Order on television.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating.

She is survived by: Husband: David Drake, Sr. of Dayton; Parents: Beth and Jerry Henry of Houston; Daughters: Noelle Olivia Drake of Dayton, Kimberly Ruth Drake of Houston and Amber Rachelle Greathouse of Baytown; Son: David Edward Drake, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Brothers: Tracey Henry of Rosharon and Peter Henry of Huntsville; Granddaughter: Alexis Greathouse of Baytown and Grandmother: Ruth Lowe of Harlingen. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday April 7, 2006 at the Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Ambrose

Barbara J. Campbell Ambrose, 60, of Dayton, died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at the St. Luke‚s Episcopal Hospital in Houston.

Graveside services will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, April 6, 2006, at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from noon to 5 pm, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Barbara was born July 1, 1945 in Chicago Heights, IN to parents; Maurice J., Sr. and Catherine S. Frohling Campbell, a former resident of Highland, IN, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 27 years. She was a homemaker, former operator of Barb and Bills Game Room, catholic by faith, and enjoyed raising exotic birds, garage selling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Ambrose was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law: Vernon Kroll. She is survived by her husband of 28 years: William Ambrose of Dayton, daughters: Cindy Moore and husband Kelly of Huffman and Katherine Drummer of Huffman, sons: Johnny Farmer and wife Marie of IN and Everett Farmer and wife Kelly of IN, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sisters: Carol Kroll of IN and Margaret Campbell of IN, brothers: Maurice Campbell, Jr. and wife Margo of IN and Arthur Campbell and wife Bobbie of IN, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Thacker

Dorothy Lee Thacker, 76 of Dayton died on Thursday March 30, 2006 at her Daughter’s home in Channelview after a lengthy illness.

She was born on June 21, 1929 in Oak Grove, Louisiana to Parents: William Gwen Del Rio and Lillie Shipley Del Rio. She was a hair stylist by trade, was a member of the Baptist faith, possessed a very forceful and friendly personality and enjoyed pastry baking, and canning foods. She of course will be remembered for the love that she had for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchild. She loved going to church and listening to gospel music.

She is preceded in death by her Parents: William Gwen and Lillie Del Rio; Husband: William Travis Thacker and Brothers: Melvin Louis Del Rio and Luther Joseph Del Rio.

The family will receive friends on Saturday April 1, 2006 and Sunday April 2, 2006 from 1:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. on both evenings at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

She is survived by her Sons: William T. Thacker of Overland Park, Kansas, Robert Thacker of Channelview, and Kenneth Thacker of Dayton; Daughters: Barbara Bass and her husband Dwight of Channelview, Mary Katherine Thacker of Houston and Judy Trevino and her husband Jesse of Channelview; Brothers: Bill Del Rio and his wife Jean of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Vollie E. Del Rio and his wife Barbara of Mineral Wells, TX. and Donald Ray Del Rio of Houston; Sisters: Anne Todaro of Houston, Bernice Barton of Columbia, LA, Delores Brown and her husband John of West Monroe, LA. and Mary Etta Jackson of Bastrop, LA.; 12 Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great- Great-Grandchild and Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Lee Thacker will be held on Monday April 3, 2006 at 2:00 P. M. at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton with the Rev. Kevin Boldine officiating. Burial will follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton.

Groover

Theo Groover, 76, of Dayton, died Monday, March 27, 2006 at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

She was born October 30, 1929 in Houston to her late Parents: Herman Swan and Bertha Huelsenkamp Swan. She lived in Dayton for the last 35 years and was a retired Bus Driver from the Dayton Independent School District after 28 years of service. Theo enjoyed reading and being with her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2006 at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with burial to follow at the Palms Memorial Park in Dayton.

She is survived by: Sons: Gary Groover and his wife Joyce of Clear Lake, Charlie Groover and his wife Karon of Houston and Robert Groover; Brother: Ricky Swan of Arizona; 7 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: Husband: Clarence Groover; Parents: Herman Swan and Bertha Huelsenkamp Swan and Son: Herman Groover. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at the Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Carley

Naomi Ruth Carley, 72, of Cove, died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at her residence.

She was born October 23, 1933 in Davidson, Oklahoma to her late Parents: Henry Oscar Hogan and Lydia Ann McBride Hogan. Mrs. Carley was a homemaker, had lived in the Cove area since 1972 and had also previously lived in Arizona and loved cooking . She married Aron Carley on December 30, 1954 in Houston and they were in professional trucking together, covering the United States and Canada for 2 years .

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with Rev. Danny Biddy officiating. Burial will follow at the Palms Memorial Park in Dayton.
