Smith
James Washington Smith, 92, of Cleveland, Texas, died Saturday, July 7, 2007. He was born in Huffman, Texas on March 8, 1915 to George Washington and Carrie Alice Smith who preceded him in death along with his wife, Mary Alma Smith; and daughter, Ann Lavois Smith; sister, Dorothy Mae Sjolander; and brother, George Willie Smith.
James Washington Smith was Southern Baptist in faith; was a former resident of Highlands, Texas and spent a good 10 years on Tarkington Prairie. He was well like through out his community and will surely be missed.
Survivors include his daughters, Bette Gigout and husband, Ira, Sherry Buchanan and husband, Leslie A.; sister, Irma Bearden; her cherished grandchildren, Rex Gigout, Lynn Gigout, Ricky Gigout, Eric Griffin; great-grandchildren, Aaron Gigout, Ian Griffin, and Sarah; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2007, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Jerry Bontrager will conduct funeral services Thursday, July 12, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at Oak Shade Baptist Church, 1807 County Road 2212, Cleveland, Texas 77327 with interment following Huffman cemetery, Huffman, Texas.
Frauenberger
George Nelson Frauenberger, 83, of Raywood, Texas, died Friday July 6th, 2007.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday July 10th, 2007 at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Interment will follow in Palms Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Monday, July 9th with a rosary being recited at 7:00pm.
George was born in Nowata, Oklahoma on March 16th, 1924 to Melvin and Gladys Frauenberger. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dennis Frauenberger. He is survived by wife Edna, son Ricky and wife Linda; granddaughter, Amy Richard and husband Pete, and their children Josh and Riley; granddaughter Amanda Heaton, grandson, Ricky II and wife Teri and their children Lisa Shelby and Ricky III; grandson, Kevin and wife Pamela and their children Kade, Kole, and Kenadi; sisters Eloise Havard and Sandra Spano and husband James; sisters-in-law, Beverly Frauenberger, Elizabeth Tywater and husband Jabo and Vivian Richard and husband Murphy; brother-in-law Lenton Guidry and wife Shelby; and numerous more nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
George and Edna were married
for 57 years. He worked for Texaco, Inc. for 37 and a half years and retired in 1986. He served in the Army, 75th Infantry Division, Battle of the Bulge in Germany and was awarded a purple heart in WWII.
Edna and family would like to thank all of the nurses and doctors at St. Elizabeth Hospital for all their kindness and care.

Robbins
Henry “Bob” Robbins, 78, of Liberty, died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at the Magnolia Place Nursing Home in Liberty.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at the Oats cemetery in Leggett, with burial following thereafter. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Henry was born December 12, 1928 in Dunn, LA, to parents; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Robbins, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 10 years. He was a retired maintenance worker for the City of Daisetta, veteran of the US Marine Corps with service during WW II and Korea, member of the Faith Chapel PCG Church, and enjoyed music, playing the guitar, reading, gardening, and church activities.
Mr. Robbins was preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of four years: Alice Steger Robbins of Liberty, two daughters, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to the Faith Chapel at P.O> Box 1047, Dayton, Texas 77535, in his name.
Cooper
Joyce Marie Cooper, 56, of Shepherd, Texas, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007. She was born in Cleveland, Texas on March 21, 1951 to Luther Charles and Helen Christine Carlos who have preceded her in death along with her brothers, Tex Carlos and Leroy Carlos.
Joyce has been a resident of Shepherd, Texas for over 30 years and Assembly of God in faith. She will surely be missed by her family, friends, and community.
Survivors included her loving husband, Kenneth G. Cooper, sons, Kenneth Wayne Cooper and Craig Stephen Cooper; grandchildren, Kayla, Abby, Morgan, Ryan, Kara, Katelynn, Robin, Johnathon, Austin, and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Ayden Thornton; nephew, Charlie Carlos; niece, Melba Carlos; other special people in her life are Oliver and Carolyn and her Uncle Greddie along with other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Farley Chapel cemetery, Shepherd, Texas.
Walters
Billy D. Walters, Sr., 70, of Cleveland, Texas, died, Thursday, July 5, 2007. He was born in Prescott, Arkansas to Bill and Maggie Sue Walters.
Billy is preceded in death by his son, John F. Walters. Survivors include his loving wife, Laura Jane Walters; son, Billy Walters, Jr. and wife, Dena; brothers, Eddy Morris Walters and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Misty Gros and Tony Gros; great-grandchild, Colby Byron; niece Dana Ann Hughes and husband, Tommy and many caring friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 8, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas with interment following at Morgan cemetery.

Oubre
Margaret Anne Oubre of Port Arthur, died on Thursday, July 5, 2007
at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, at the age of 66. She was born in Eunice, Louisiana, to Francis and L. B. LaFleur on August 26, 1940. She lived in Port Arthur, for most of her life. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1958.
She was a homemaker, wife and mother to her family and a member of St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur.
Visitation will be on Sunday evening, July 8, 2007 from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. with a rosary to be recited at 7 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 9, 2007 at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Rev. Sinclair Oubre, her nephew will serve as celebrant. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Yvonne LaFleur. She is survived by her loving husband, Cecil Oubre of Port Arthur, Texas, Her two sons, Chris Oubre and his wife, Julie of Ocean Springs, Mississippi and Todd Oubre and his wife, Susan of Dayton, Texas, her three grandchildren,
Chase and Melissa Oubre of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Matthew Oubre of Dayton, Texas, along with her sister, Deanna Glidden and her husband, Sonny of Buna, Texas, and her brother, Mike LaFleur and his wife, Debbie of Lake Charles, Louisiana, as well as several nieces and nephews.
McMillen
Dewey A. McMillen, Jr., 74, of Winnie, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at the Arboretum Nursing Home in Winnie.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 9, 2007, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial following at Liberty Catholic cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with rosary services at 7 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stencil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Dewey was born September 23, 1932 in Raywood, to parents; Dewey A. McMillen, Sr. and Blanch Janise, a former resident of Liberty, and has resided in the Winnie area for the past four years. He was a graduate of the Liberty High school, a retired tool pusher for Stanley Well Services after 28 years of employment, and enjoyed hunting.
Mr. McMillen was preceded in death by his parents, son: Alfred L. McMillen, and daughter-in-law: Andle McMillen. He is survived by his wife: Doris McMillen of Winnie, sons: Ervin E. McMillen and wife Maria of Winnie and Dewey A. McMillen, III of Huntsville, daughters: Leona B. Hall and husband John of Friendswood, Marie Mahmood and husband Max of Friendswood, and Rose Anna McMillen of Huntsville, sisters: Lillie Blanch Kersh, Martha J. Schroeder and husband Ernie, Mary Dinker, Bertha T. Theriot and husband Harry, and Josephine Smesny and husband Jerry, brothers: Francis McMillen, Jacques McMillen and wife Rose, John A. Colley
Ronald Bryant Colley, 60, of Hankamer, Texas, died Monday, July 2, 2007. He was born on January 17, 1947 to John and Vonda Colley in Beaumont, Texas.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Jarrod Desormeaux. Reeves
Wanda Busceme Reeves, age 53, of Liberty, TX, died Saturday, June 30, 2007, in a Beaumont Hospice House.
Wanda was born March 19, 1954, in Avoyelles, Louisiana to Edward Stanley Book and Willie Mae Blood Book.
She was the Automotive Manager with the Wal-Mart Super Store in Liberty, and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Liberty.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 2, 2007 at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A Wake service will be held Monday at 7:00 P.M. in the Allison Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 411 Milam Street Liberty, TX, with burial following at 1:00 P.M. in the Forest Lawn cemetery, Beaumont, TX.
Wanda is preceded in death by her mother: Willie Mae Book and a son, Thomas John Busceme.
Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law: Wendy and Terry Don Fregia, and Dusty and John Paul Theriot; her father, Edward Stanley Book and his wife Catherine; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Shelia and Johnny Brackman, and Rena and Jimmy Start; six grandchildren: Andrew Fregia, Tyler Fregia, Alexis Theriot, Leilan Theriot, Krista Theriot and Skylor Theriot, and two special friends: Karen Reavis and Judy Hanks, and a host of other family members and friends also survive.
Moore
Terrie Jane Moore, 44, of Dayton, Texas, died Saturday, June 30, 2007. She was born in Pasadena, Texas on April 12, 1963 to Ronald and Becky Buck.
Survivors include her loving husband, Scott Moore; parents; grandmother, Mary Faye Dorcett; daughter, Tabitha Land-Scott; son, Cory Moore; sister, Thersa Hartley and numerous nieces, nephews, and many other loving family members and a host of friends beyond measure.
Memorial services were held Thursday, July 5, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.
Atkinson
Bob Atkinson died Friday, June 29, 2007 in Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital from complications following a heart attack. A long-time resident of Liberty, Bob was 77.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 1 at 10 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Liberty. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4-6 P.M. on Sunday, June 30th at the Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty.
Bobby Nolan Atkinson was born on February 18, 1930 in the rural community of Pearson Chapel in Houston County. He was the second of four sons born to Leo and Jewel Atkinson. He graduated from Lovelady High School in 1948 and married
his childhood sweetheart, Barbara Daniel, on Christmas Day of that year. Trained as a butcher by his uncle, Bob was employed by Hooks Grocery in Crockett were he and Barbara lived until 1952. Their first child, a daughter, Cynthia was born in 1951.
In July, 1952 Bob and his family moved to Liberty when he was hired by B.M. “Tad” LaFour, owner of LaFour’s Super Value Grocery. This business grew and became Minimax in 1958. Bob’s family also grew as twins Robbye and Bobby were born to he and Barbara in 1963. The business continued to flourish, and Bob’s loyalty and hard work paid off when Mr. LaFour sold Minimax to his stepson Hubert Ray and to Bob in 1973. In 1976 Minimax moved into a new and larger store and continued as Liberty’s leading grocery under their ownership until it was purchased by H.E.B. Bob officially retired in 1989.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his yard, but he most enjoyed the company of his family –his wife, children and grandchildren and family activities. In retirement he and Barbara took 15 cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. A member of the First Baptist Church at Liberty since 1980 and active in the church also with Barbara until he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 1994, Bob had been a resident of Golden Charm Nursing Home since 2001.
A well–respected man in the community and beloved by his family and friends, Bob will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
Bob is survived by Barbara, his wife of 58 years; 3 children, Cynthia and John Henderson of Livingston, Robbye and Dorrance Deakle of Houston, and Robert and Ellen Atkinson of Liberty; 8 grandchildren: Chris and Jeff Henderson, Donnie Deakle and Dawn Holland, Eric and Ashley Atkinson, and Jessica and Laura Smith and 4 great-grandchildren.
Thornton
Ralph B. (Buck) Thornton, 84, died on June 25, 2007. Buck served his country in the US Army during World War II. He retired from Mobil Oil, Hull Texas after thirty-seven years. Buck was very active in the Baptist Church and served as a Baptist Deacon for many years.
Buck is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Jeanne Thornton; son Kelly Thornton and wife Charlotte; step-sons, Mike Westbrook and Richard Westbrook and wife Barbara, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife Francis Thornton, son Jerry Lynn Thornton and daughter Sandra Kay Diehl.
A visitation for family and friends will be Thursday June 28, 2007 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sterling Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 10:00 am Friday, June 29 in Fair Lawn cemetery in Liberty, Texas.

Matthew Lane Page, 24, of Shepherd, Texas, died in a tragic car accident Wednesday, June 27, 2007. He was born in Houston, Texas on March 29, 1983 to Terry Lane and Sandra Page.
He is preceded in death by both fathers, Stony Guynes and Terry Page; grandmothers, Hilda Page and Edwina Stanley. Survivors include his loving wife Bonnie Page; mother, Sandra Guynes; daughters, Laci and Lauren Page; brother, James Guynes; sister, Sarah Page; grandparents, Joseph and Joyce Stanley, George Page and wife, Pat, Hirshell Guynes; nephew, Jerritt Whitmire; uncles, Wray Page and wife, Daryl, Timothy Page, Joesph Allen Stanley and wife, Stephanie and so many other loving family members and cherished friends.

Lilley
Laura Elizabeth Lilley, 100 years of age, of Cleveland, Texas, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007. She was born in Everitt, Texas to Ben and Susie Everitt of whom preceded her in death, along with her husband, J.R. (Pete) Lilley; son, B.E. Lilley; daughter, Nona Ruth Ellisor.
She is survived by sons, Vernon Lilley and wife, Lois of Magnolia Community, San Jacinto County, Texas, Gervis Lilley and wife, Lavonne of San Jacinto County, Texas; daughter, Billie Schreckenbach of Richmond, Texas; sixteen grandchildren with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 29, 2007, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.
Oppenhammer
Sammie Lee Oppenhammer, 76, of Coldspring, Texas, died Sunday, June 24, 2007. He was born in Willis, Texas on July 28, 1930 to Henry and Queen Ester Oppenhammer of whom preceded him in death along with one sister and three brothers.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 29, 2207, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, Texas. Rev. Jack Washington will conduct funeral services Saturday, June 30, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church, Coldspring, Texas with interment immediately following at Laurel Hill cemetery, Coldspring, Texas.
Sammie was a hard worker; he worked as a laborer for Louisiana Pacific, Bordens Metal and Trinity River Authority for many years. He dearly loved fishing, playing dominoes and family Bar-B-Qs. He was a member and deacon of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in which he sang in the Male Chorus.
He married
Dorothy Ann Jackson on December 16, 1967. Sammy was an excellent father and provider. He received great joy in playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his five daughters, Jackson, Lendy Harrison, Ruby Oppenhammer, Essie Johnson, Henriettia Steaty and husband, Charles Roy; one son, Jimmy Jackson of Conroe, Texas; sister, Vera Williams of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Diongsus and Derek Jackson, Rysha and Quinn Oppenhammer, Venecia Streety, Samathia Greene and husband, Armstead, Angela Johnson, and husband, Craig, Willie Thomason, Zakiayaa and Jonquis Johnson, Nakita Walston and husband, Kevaughn; twelve great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ethel Oppenhammer; seven nephews and six nieces. His special friends, Katherine Walker, “Mother” Eliza Nobles, Charlie and Lola Massey.
