Alvin Haley Gibbs, 74, of Cleveland, Texas, died Monday, January 28, 2008. He was born in Willis, Texas, on June 1, 1933 to Arthur Boyd and Hazel Yawn who preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughters, Lilly Downen, Mary Dobson; sons, Alvin Ray Gibbs, Kenneth Wayne Gibbs, Gary Wayne Gibbs, David Wayne Gibbs; sister, Rebecca Jezek; grandchildren, Wanda Burns, Sonny Dobson, Patricia Dobson, Timothy Dobson, Johnny Dobson, Michael Gibbs, Matthew Gibbs, Christina Poul, Joshua Martin, Misty Martin, Jessica Gibbs, Lew Lane, Jr., Mare Lane, Amy Lane and numerous great-grandchildren; nephews, John Jr., Clifton, William, Richard, Archie; nieces Barbara, Bonnie, Beverly; granddaughter-in-law, Michelle Dobson and Lois Dobson; sons-in-law, Frank Downen, Ernest Dobson, Debra Sue Gibbs, Melissa Gibbs, Debbie D. Gibbs.

Graveside services were held Thursday, January 31, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens, Cleveland, Texas.

Young

Betty Jo Young, age 79, of Hardin, TX, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at her home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the Hardin Baptist Church, with Rev. Tony Hines and Rev. Bill Fabriguze officiating, with burial following in the Hardin Chapel cemetery, Hardin, TX. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, TX., from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Betty Jo was born on September 7, 1928 in Baytown, Texas to parents, James “Jimmy” E. Lay and Hallie Mageors Lay. She graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School and later attended Lee College. She was a member of Hardin Baptist Church. She was the church musician for many years. She loved music. She enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially football. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Betty Jo is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, A.L. “Bo” Young, and one sister, Jimmie Swenson.

She is survived by two daughters, Jo Carol Clark and Linda Bolton, one sister Sammie Wallace and husband Thomas Earl, and one brother-in-law, Horace Young and wife Deanie, grandchildren, Robert Clark and wife Treasia, Donnie Bolton and wife Heather, Bodie Clark and wife Krystle, Tiffany Bolton, great-grandchildren, Taylor Clark, Blaize Clark, Ava Victoria Bolton, and many other relatives and friends.

Alexander

Theresa Pauline Alexander, age 79, died Sunday, January 27, 2008, in a Houston hospital.

A service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 11:00 A.M., at the Allison Funeral Service chapel, with burial in the Palms Memorial Park cemetery, Dayton, TX.

Theresa was born on October 28, 1928, in Stoneham, TX, to Garrett Groochett and Rose Busa Grochett. She was a receptionist for the Trinity Animal Clinic in Liberty for years before retirement. She enjoyed her family and golfing.

Theresa is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her children: Georgia Kay Roe and her husband Norm Roe of League City, TX., and Garnett I Baecker and his wife Marcie Baecker, of Friendswood, TX., five grandchildren: Laura Varga, Rebecca Nelson, Robert Schlief, Jamie Winfrey, and Parker Baecker, and four great grandchildren: Blake Varga, Bennett Varga, Jack Nelson, and Kate Nelson.

Dearmore

Dorothy Fay Cleere Dearmore, age 88, of Liberty, TX, died Monday, January 28, 2008 in a Houston Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church, 539 Main Street, Liberty, TX, at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Ron Page officiating, with burial following in the Liberty Catholic cemetery, Liberty, TX. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, TX., from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Dorothy was born on July 20, 1919 in Houston, Texas to parents, Erskine C. Cleere and Era Fay Dodson Cleere. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1936 and later graduated from Rice University in 1940. She married Jack Earl Dearmore in Quantico, VA. in 1943. Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Liberty, Texas. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jack Earl Dearmore.

The survivors are one daughter; Ann D. Gibbins and husband Tom, one son; David E. Dearmore and wife Becky, three grandchildren; Amy Gibbins, Josh Dearmore, Jennifer Sykes and husband Tanner, and many other relatives and friends.

Richardson

Darrell G. Richardson, Sr., 46, of Dayton, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital – Alexander Campus, in Baytown. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2008, at the Menard Chapel cemetery in Schwab City with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Darrell was born December 28, 1961 in Woodville, to parents; Charles A. and Barbara Johnsey Richardson, was a former resident of Crosby, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 28 years. He was an equipment technician for DSI Transport of Deer Park and member of the Trinity Baptist Church. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, racing cars, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife of 17 years: Nancy Ihlenfeldt Richardson of Dayton, son: Darrell G. Richardson, Jr. of Livingston, daughters: Jessica Roberson of Dayton, Carly Richardson of Dayton, and Dawn Richardson of Dayton, parents: Charles A. and Barbara Richardson of Livingston, sister: Teresa Richardson of Austin, brothers: Frank and Charlie Richardson of Livingston, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Barbeaud

Jerre D. Barbeaud, 67, of Dayton, died Monday, January 28, 2008, at the Bayside Community Hospital in Anahuac. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2008, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Jerre was born March 20, 1940 in Liberty, to parents; Joe and Rosa Lee Dugat Barbeaud, and has resided in the Dayton area throughout her life. She was a custodian for the Dayton I.S.D. for several years, member of the First Assembly of God Church in Dayton, and enjoyed quilting, embroidery, collecting bird figurines, and animals. Miss Barbeaud was preceded in death by her parents and survived by her brother: J. H. “Pete” Barbeaud of Anahuac, nieces: Lauren C. Barbeaud of Anahuac, Jinifer Johnson of Winnie, and Rose Ann East of Winnie, special nephew: Thomas H. “Bugs Bunny” Barbeaud of Anahuac, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Pitts

Patrick Joseph Pitts, 34, of Spring, Texas, died on January 25, 2008.

Patrick was born on December 1, 1973 in Houston, Texas, to Ronald Pitts and Rose Wiggins. Patrick has lived in the Spring area for a little over a year and worked in motorcycle sales. In his spare time he enjoyed cars, motorcycles, video games, skydiving, remote control cars and airplanes and most of all spending time with his family. Patrick was a very loving and playful person who was very devoted to his family and he will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Patrick is preceded in death by his father Ron Pitts, mother Rose Wiggins and brother Jimmy Mitchum. He is survived by his loving wife Tina Pitts, son Justin Pitts, daughter Alayna Pitts, step daughter Natalie Plummer, brother Perry Mitchum, brother Timothy Juarez, sister Heather Mitchum, grandparents Bobby and Nadine Dunigan, mother and father in law Betty and Nathan Geisendorff and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12-8pm on Sunday January 27, 2008 and Monday January 28, 2008 at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2008 2 pm at Sterling Funeral Home with interment following at Linney cemetery in Dayton.

Carouthers

Larry “L.J.” Carouthers, 51, of Batson, died Thursday, January 24, 2008 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

A native of Liberty he had lived in the area most of his life. Before becoming disabled L.J. had worked in the oil industry as an oilfield worker.

He was preceded in death by his Mother; Rosie Zaruba, Brother; W.G. Carouthers.

Survivors include Wife; Wendy Carouthers of Batson, Father; Willie Gene Carouthers, of Batson, Son; Christopher Carouthers of Batson, Daughter; Courtney Carouthers of Batson. Brothers; Joe Wayne Carouthers and wife Rachel of Sour, lake, James Carouthers and wife Lea of Batson. Sisters; Irene Moor and husband Larry of Mt.Belvieu, Kathy and husband Reverend John Nelson of Mt. Belvieu. Mother in law; Betty S. Bullock of Liberty, Father in law; Glenn D. Bullock of Sour, Lake. Also numerous nieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance will be held Sunday January 27, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the United Pentecostal Church of Batson with Reverend John Nelson and Reverend Tolbert Hudspeth officiating.

The family will be receiving friends Saturday, January 26, 2008 beginning at 4:00 P.M. at the church. Interment will follow at the Guedry cemetery in Batson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Faith and Family Funeral Service of Batson, TX.

Davis

Jane Davis, 86, of Hull, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at her daughter’s residence in Thicket.

Born to Sam Brock and Maggie Melton Brock in Wheelock, Texas, Jane was a retired Nurses aid and a faithful and devoted member of New Life Assembly of God Church of Batson. She had lived in the area for about 20 years after leaving Baytown.

Those who precede her in death are Parents; Sam Brock and Maggie Brock, Husband; Howard Davis, Stepsons; Therman and Tharrel Davis. Survivors are Daughter; Melinda Rosier and husband James of Thicket, Son; Leonard “Sonny” Clark who recently passed away also precedes Jane. Other survivors are Grandsons; John Rosser and wife Kim of Thicket, Susanne Rosser of Thicket two great grandsons; Ryan and Dylan Rosser of Thicket. Stepdaughters; Dorothy Brown and husband Darrell of Liberty, Betty Brown and husband J.M of Saratoga, Francis Creel and husband Billy of New Caney, Sue Dudley and husband Kenneth of Lufkin, Brenda Williams and husband Bill of Sabine Pass. Stepsons; Byron Davis and wife Jeanie of Sour Lake, Lewis Davis and wife Karen Sue of Daisetta, Kenny Davis of New Caney.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday January 26, 2008 at 10:00A.M. at New Life Assembly of God Church in Batson with Reverend Bill Campbell and Reverend Darrell Brown officiating. The family will be receiving friends and family on Friday January 25, 2008 beginning at 5:00 P.M. Until 9:00 P.M.also at the church. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Faith and Family Funeral Service of Batson, TX.

Saranthus

Margie G. Saranthus, 73 of Shepherd, Texas, died Monday, January 21, 2008. She was born in Tallassee, Alabama on November 29, 1934 to John Felton and Annie Ruth Nabors who preceded her in death along with her loving husband, J.B. Saranthus.

Survivors include her daughters, Shelley Eddins and husband, Allen Wayne Sr. of Honey Island, Texas, Lori Goffinski and husband, Ken of Shepherd, Texas; sons, Ricky Richburg and wife, Donna of Montgomery, Alabama, Barry Richburg of Dadenville, Alabama; brothers, Billy Nabors and wife, Betty of Dayton, Texas, Donnie Singleton and wife, Elizabeth of Mobile, Alabama; grandchildren Derch Saranthus of Shepherd, Texas, Mandi, Jessica, and Ashley Richburg of Montgomery, Alabama, Buch and Ronald Richburg of Dadville, Alabama, Allen Jr., Scott, Rusty, and Jenni Eddins of Honey Island, Texas, Stephannie Anthony of Woodville, Texas, Gracie Goffinski of Shepherd, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members and caring friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2008, 1:00 p.m. at Church of Christ, Shepherd, Texas, with interment at Farley Chapel cemetery, Shepherd, Texas.

Nutt

James Roy Nutt, 76, of Cleveland, Texas, died Monday, January 21, 1931. He was born in Thorton, Arkansas on September 1, 1931 to Benjamin Franklin and Dora Dean Nutt.

James is survived by his loving wife, Charlene Nutt, daughters, Jan Brockner and husband, Paul of Cleveland, TX, Kay Lee and husband, Joe of Baton Rouge, LA, Angie Carpenter and husband, Clint of Cleveland, TX; son, Jimmy Nutt and wife, Angi of Sheffield, AL; sisters, Margaret Colvert, Faye Mayfield, Patsy Roberts; grandchildren, Jordan Nutt, Clay and Cullen Carpenter, James and Jona Lee, Sommer Emerson, D’rinda, Andrew, Tyler, Thomas, and Abby Brockner; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Hannah Emerson; numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members and caring friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2008, 1:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Welcome Home cemetery, Grayson, Louisiana. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 24, 2008, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas.

Hargraves

Mrs. Naomi Meacham Hargraves died in the Baptist Retirement Center in San Angelo, TX, at the age of 95. A native of Liberty, TX, she lived in El Paso from 1955-2001 and in San Angelo from 2001 – 2008. In El Paso she was a member of Ft. Boulevard United Methodist Church. She is survived by a son, the Rev. M. Wayne Hargraves and daughter-in-law, Dixie F. Hargraves; a daughter, Mrs. Sandra Hargraves Knickerbocker and son-in-law, Dr. W.E. Knickerbocker, Jr.; grandchildren, Jon M. Knickerbocker and his wife, Janna F. Knickerbocker, Amy M. Knickerbocker Palaszo and

her husband Robert V. Palaszo; great-grandchildren, Katherine O. Knickerbocker, Daniel E. Knickerbocker and Clare O. Palaszo. Her husband was the late Marvin C. Hargraves of Beaumont, TX.

Services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2008, at 10 A. M. at the Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX. Interment will be in Liberty City cemetery.

To honor her request, please do not send flowers. Memorials may be sent to the Baptist Retirement Community, 902 North Main Street, San Angelo, TX 76903.

Black

Ernest M. Black, 70, of Houston, Texas, died Monday, January 21, 2008. He was born in Teague, Texas, on January 27, 1937 to Ben B. and Mable Black.

Survivors include his children, Tressia Nichols, Carrell Varnell, Darrell Black and wife, Rhonda, Ernest Black, Jr. and wife, Shawn, Terry Black and wife, Tammy; brother, M.T. Black and wife, Thelma; sisters, Bernice Latham and wife, Sumpter, Betty Farrell; fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and other cherished family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Dew cemetery, Dew, Texas.

Hamilton

Tommie James Hamilton, 89, of Cleveland, Texas, died Sunday, January 20, 2008. Tommie was born in Henderson, Texas, on February 5, 1918 to Christopher C. and Anna D. Hamilton who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Cloyd Hamilton and Jessie Hamilton; sisters, Lula Lorene McCarley, Else Pauline Cox, Maxlee Burlison, and Faye Hamilton.

Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Billie Hamilton; sons, James Ray Hamilton, William Paul Hamilton, Elmer Roy Hamilton; daughters, Bennie Porter, Doris Barfield, Connie Hayes; step-children, Joyce Walding, Gloria Leslie, Diane Robertson, Alton Robertson; brothers, George, Howard, and Willard “Top” Hamilton; twenty-five grandchildren, fifty-four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and so many other treasured family members and caring friends.

Funeral service were held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 24, 2008 at New Caney Family Worship Center, New Caney, Texas with interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens, Cleveland, Texas.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to St. James House and Regency Hospice in Baytown, Texas, for the wonderful care given to him in the last few months.

Mitchell

A Memorial Service for Murry G. Mitchell, 82, of Dayton, Texas, will be held Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 11 A. M. at Wells Memorial Chapel, with the Reverend Richard Ayers Jr. officiating.

A native of Dayton, he was a student of Colbert High School and a rice farmer.

He died January 18, 2008 at Triumph Hospital of East Channelview, Texas.

He is survived by several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Thompkins

Funeral Service for Ethel Lee Thompkins, 53, of Liberty, Texas, will be held Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 11 A. M. at Berean Tabernacle Baptist Church, Liberty with the Reverend Hurley Clayton officiating with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery.

A native of Liberty, she graduated from nursing school at Prairie View A&M University at Liberty and work as a caregiver.

She died January 18, 2008 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas after an illness.

Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9 A.M. until time of service.

She is survived by two sons Allen Thompkins of Raywood, Texas and Kenneth Thompkins of Baytown; one sister: Carolyn Victorian of Ames, Texas, and one brother John Wayne Austin of Liberty, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.

Dossett

Della Bricol Dossett, age 86, of Cleveland, Texas, died Sunday, January 20, 2008.

She was born in Santa Rosa, California on December 19, 1921.

She is leaving behind her loving husband, Harvey Dossett.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 22, 2008, 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Forest Park cemetery, Houston, Texas.
