Atkinson
Willie Mae Atkinson, age 84, of Liberty, TX, died at her home, Wednesday, July 9, 2008.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, TX, at 10:00 A.M., with the Reverend Allen Cherry officiating. Burial will be in the Corinth cemetery, Kennard, TX at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 12, 2008 with the Reverend Jim Ainsworth.
Willie Mae was born on July 26, 1923 in Leon County, Texas to Dewitt Smith and Lela Bell Patrick. She graduated from the Kennard High School and married
Woodrow Wilson Atkinson in Houston County, TX on October 14, 1938.
They moved to the Liberty area and opened a shoe repair shop. They were the best cobblers in the county. Willie Mae was a member of the Church of Christ, the Rebecca Lodge, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Liberty Volunteer Fire Dept. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and quilting.
Willie Mae is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son: W. W. Atkinson, Jr.; daughter, Lela Kathleen Atkinson; grandson, Douglas Potts, and a son-in-law: Harvey Garness. She is survived by two daughters: Bobbie Jean Wages and husband William, of Liberty, TX and Mary Hellen Atkinson of Katy, TX, three sisters: Aline Morrow of Kansas, Vera Reeves of TX., and Maude Jones of Pasadena, TX., a brother: James Smith of Bryan, TX., three grandchildren: Jeannette Potts, Francis Frybert, and Crystal Lofsteadt; eight great- grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.

Williams
Ryan James Williams aka “Batman” gained his angel wings on Wednesday evening, July 9, 2008.
Ryan was born September 30, 2002 in Humble, Texas to parents C. D. and Theresa Skarpa Williams. He had attended the First Baptist Church Weekday Ministries and had played T-Ball with the DYSA. He was a member of the Sunshine Kids, Royal Rangers, and an honorary member of the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department. Ryan loved Batman and other Super Heroes, he would very often be seen as one of these special characters. He enjoyed playing Wii, Legos, and going swimming, but he most of all loved to wrestle with his Dad and kiss his Mom. Visitation for Ryan will 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2008 at Dayton First Assembly of God Church. A Celebration of Ryan’s Life Service will be 7:00 p.m., Friday at the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Charles Pierce officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Thuc Nguyen officiating. Interment to follow at Magnolia Park cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Ryan is survived by his mother: Theresa Skarpa Williams who was his true love; his father: C. D. Williams who was his partner forever; his sister: Haley Williams who he was her best brother, of Dayton; his grandparents: Felix and Marie Skarpa of Dayton, Cecil D. Williams, Sr. of Dayton; his great-grandmothers: Pauline Dybala of Needville and Betty Ann Peace of New Boston; also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Meiners
Lillie Mae Meiners, age 85 Old Snake River, died Monday July 7, 2008 at the Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Lillie was born on June 13, 1923 in Detroit, MI to Harold K. Emmons and May Marie Banghart. She graduated from the Colley High School in 1942, and married
Willard John Emmons in 1943, and moved to the southeast Texas area in the late 1970’s.
Lillie is preceded in death by her parents and husband, and four children: Ruth Moore, John Meiners, Thersa Meiners, and Howard Meiners. She in survived by a daughter: Linda Marie Meiners of Old Snake River, and a brother: Howard Emmons of Detroit. MI, fore grandchildren: Christine Fregia, Sherry Marie, Lynn Moore and Malynda Lambert, and fore great grandchildren and a host of friends and other relatives.

Mathews
Debra Sue Mathews, age 55, diedsuddenly July 4, 2008 in Liberty.
She was born in Gulfport, Mississippi, October 27, 1952 the daughter of Betty Alford Lott and the late Finnis Lott.
She leaves behind her mother Betty Lott Baisas, sons Lonnie and Shawn Mathews, brother Bobby Lott, sisters Sharon Conklin and Barbara Burnett as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 10:30AM at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. Dayton, Texas with burial to follow in Palms Memorial Park.
Brooks
Funeral Service for Billy Ray Brooks, 57, of Liberty, Texas was held Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 11 A.M. at Turkey Creek Baptist Church, with the Reverend Paul Cross, Sr. officiating with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery.
A native of Liberty, he was a graduate of West Liberty High School, Class of 1969, a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church, a laborer for Brown & Root, he died June 17, 2008 at his residence after an illness.
Visitation was held Saturday from 9 A.M until time of service at the church.
He is survived by his mother Ellen Brooks of Liberty, one sister: Mary Ford of Liberty; six brothers: Leroy Brooks, Sr., Harold Brooks, Theodore Brooks, and Earnest Brooks, Jr., all of Liberty, Reverend Morris Brooks, Sr., of Cleburne, Texas, and Reverend Larry Brooks of Dayton and a host of other relatives and friends.
Walker
Funeral Service for Johnny Walker, 68, of Liberty, Texas was held Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 11 A.M. at Wells Memorial Chapel, with the Reverend Richard A. Ayers, officiating with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery.
A native of Liberty, he was a graduate of the Liberty Training High School, Class of 1958, a former employee with maintenance department with the City of Liberty.
He died June 26, 2008 at Goose Creek Health Care Center, Baytown, Texas after an illness.
Visitation was held Wednesday 9 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home.
He is survived by two sisters: Jeanette Robbins of Dayton and Pamela Stephens of Baytown, Texas; four brothers: Clifton Walker and Dennis Walker, both of Baytown, Kenneth Walker and Nolan Walker both of Liberty and a host of other relatives and friends.
Edwards
Funeral Service for Loretta Freeman Edwards, 64, of Houston, Texas was held Saturday July 5, 2008 at 10 A.M. at Wells Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Gregory Bellard officiating with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery.
A native of Liberty she was a graduate of West Liberty High School, a member of St. Miles Baptist Church, she was a homemaker.
She died Monday, June 30, 2008 at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston, Texas after an illness.
She is survived by her daughter Marcelle Jones of Houston, three brothers: Gary Freeman, Kenny Freeman, and Bennie Freeman, Jr., all of California; one sister Wanda Freeman of Houston and a host of other relatives and friends.
Williams
A Memorial Service for Wilbert Lee Williams, Jr., 58, will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 11 A.M. in Wells Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Gregory Bellard officiating.
A native of Liberty, he attended West Liberty High School and served his county in the United State Army. He worked construction and various other jobs.
He died at Liberty-Dayton Hospital, Tuesday July 1, 2008.
He is survived by his wife Lavenia Williams, two sons: Damion Williams and Gilvonni Williams; a stepson: Melvin Mouton; and one daughter: Roschanda Williams Owens; two brothers: Erza Bush, Jr. and Reverend James Ray Bush; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Barnhart
Pearlie Ethel Barnhart 88, of Batson died Monday July 7, 2008 at Harbor Hospice House of Beaumont.
A native of Grayburg TX she had lived in Batson most of her life and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her Son; Larry Barnhart and wife Lynn of Batson, Daughters; Martha Barnett of Batson, Wanda Cummings and husband Buddy of LaPorte, Brother; Jarvis Stovall of Batson. Grandchildren; eleven Great-grandchildren; thirteen.
Funeral service will be held Thursday July 10, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. At Batson Prairie Baptist church with interment to follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson. Visitation will be held today Wednesday July 9, 2008 beginning at 4:00 P.M. Also at the church.

Mullican
Irene Mullican, age 88, died in Ashdown, AK July 2, 2008.
She was born in Kirbyville, TX August 13, 1919 the daughter of the late George W. Neely and Ary Simmons Neely. She worked for twenty-eight years in the classified department for the Houston Chronicle. She was a past member of the Kenefick Southern Baptist Church and was a member of the Kenefick activity club.
She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Mullican, her brothers Jay M. Neely and George “Buck” Welden as well as two sisters Cecil Schnover and Margaret Black.
She leaves behind her daughters Olene Lyons and husband Daniel of Forman, AK; Katherine Ewell of Ashdown, AK; step-son Randy Mullican; three grandchildren; Danna Carter; Stephen Payne; Gary Lyons; great-grandchildren; Rachel Amber Bates; Randy Ray “Bo” Adcock Jr.; Joseph Daniel Adcock; Megan Nicole Lyons; Kristi Isom; ten great-great grandchildren Shae; Samantha; Luke; Ty; Taylor; Aryn; Zachery; Addison; Kaden and Jayden.
Visitation will be held Tuesday July 8, 2008 from 7-9pm at the Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. Dayton, Texas. Funeral Services to be held 10AM Wednesday at the Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Day officiating. Burial to follow in Magnolia cemetery.
Garrison
Kenneth N. “Ken” Garrison, Jr., 75, of Liberty, went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2008, at home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Liberty with burial following at the Cooke Memorial cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Pallbearers are Bill Roehr, Kevin Garrison, Keith Garrison, Billie McCoy, Gary Nance, Chip Williams, and Jeff Schoch. Honorary Pallbearers are Dave Beere, Jack Bracken, Jay Kerth, Ron Barrett, and Gary Nakamatsu. Ken was born January 1, 1933, Flushing, NY, to parents; Kenneth N, Sr. and Blanche Lemly Garrison, was a former resident of Maryland and Kingwood, and has resided in the Liberty area for the past 20 years. He was a graduate of the Balboa High School class of 1951, veteran of the US Army with service during the Korean War, obtained his Bachelors Degree in Transportation from the University of Baltimore in 1963, was the owner and President of Tri-Star Freight from 1987 to present, member of the First Baptist Church of Liberty, the Transportation Club of Houston, Magnolia Ridge and Kingwood Country Clubs, a 32nd degree member Mt. Araret Masonic Lodge #44 AF & AM and Scottish Rite, Shriner, member of NRA-National Rifleman’s Association and member of Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. He also enjoyed playing golf, ranching, travel, hunting, and playing the organ. Mr. Garrison was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years: Laura K. Gulling Garrison of Liberty, sons: Kevin Garrison and partner Lisa Fregia of Humble and Keith Garrison and wife Debbie of Jacksonville, FL, daughter: Kathleen Nance and husband Gary of Hardin, grandchildren: Christine, Kurt, Michael, and Tristan Garrison, Casey and Corey Nance, brother: William B. Garrison of Myrtle Beach, SC, sister-in-law: Stephanie Stephens of Hampton, VA, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The family wishes to thank the team of Regency Hospice headed by Kathy Freeman for their guidance and compassionate care. Emanuel
Douglas Edward Emanuel, 94, of Hull died July 3, 2008 at the Fairy’s Landing Nursing Home in Hull, TX.
Services will be held on Monday July 7, 2008 at 10 A.M. at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel in Liberty. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6 from 3-6 P.M. at the funeral service. Burial will be in the Guedry cemetery in Batson.
Doug was born in Fuqua, TX to parents, Zema Emanuel and Ellen Dowden on October 26, 1913. He graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School and served as the Liberty County Commissioner for Precinct # 2 for twelve years. He was a member of the Baptist Church, Hull Masonic Lodge # 1193 and the Woodmen of the World who enjoyed hunting.
Mr. Emanuel is preceded in death by his wife, Erline Hammer Emanuel, parents, two brothers; Harold Bay and Vester Emanuel
He is survived by three daughters; Sue Ellen Spinks and her husband Noel of Hull, Linda Lou Thomas of Naples, Italy and Dixie Lee George of San Antonio; sister, Kathryn Shaw and brother, A.J. Bay Jr. Also, surviving are grandchildren, Cassidy Wright, Alex Wright, Dustin Allen and Christiane Pitts and one great-granddaughter, Camryn Pitts as well as nieces, Kathy Valenta and husband Bob and Patsy Shivers.

Rawlinson
Willodene Hanchey Rawlinson, 83 of Hardin, TX passed away July 3, 2008 at her home.
Services will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at 5 P.M. at the Hardin Baptist Church in Hardin. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 5, from 6-8 P.M. at the Allison Funeral Service in Liberty.
Burial will be in the Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin.
Willodene was born to parents Conious Commodore Hanchey and Frances Effie Tullos on November 11, 1924 in Hardin. She graduated from Hardin High School in the Class of 1942. She worked as a secretary in the Hardin ISD for 25 years. Willodene was a faithful, life long member of the Hardin Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arlice Barton and her parents. Willodene is survived by her children; Marilyn Kay Dodd and her husband Roland of Hardin, Brenda Gayle Duclos of Baytown, Melva Jean Blanchard of Batson and Nedra Ann Van Dorn and husband Jim of Hardin. Grandchildren; Tammy Herrin, Erik Van Dorn, Stephanie Murphy, Adrienne Pena, SSgt. Spencer J. Duclos, U.S.A.F., Jill Romig, Mike Romig and LaTosha Graham; numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
The family offers a special thanks to the staff of Faith Community Hospice and the loving caregivers: Vanessa Scott, Joyce Edwards and Dee LeMelle.

Kapalski
Lynda Caballero Kapalski, 65, of Dayton, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
She was born September 26, 1942 in Galveston, Texas to parents: Joe and Velma Marks Caballero.
Lynda was a lifelong resident of Dayton where she graduated from Dayton High School in 1960.
She worked for Gulf States for over 10 years and was very instrumental in starting JAM which was the food pantry at St. Joseph’s Church.
She was also a member of St. Joseph’s The Worker Catholic Church and the Alter Guild. Lynda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She loved being with her family and friends and supported them in every way.
Services for Lynda will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008 at St. Joseph’s The Worker Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at St. Anne’s Catholic cemetery in Eastgate.
The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents: Joe and Velma Caballero.
