Gene Odell Worthy, age 80, died at his home in Liberty, TX, Wednesday, November 26, 2008.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 28, 2008 at 2:00 P.M., at the Allison Funeral service Chapel, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, TX. Burial will be in the Worthy cemetery, with the Rev. V. R. Hylton officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Allison Funeral Service from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Gene was born on January 4, 1928 in Liberty, TX, to James Earl Worthy Sr. and Maudie Clarisy Moss Worthy. He attended schools in Liberty and was a member of the Baptist Church. Gene married
Rosie Lee Davis on October 1, 1949 in Houston, TX. Gene was a maintenance supervisor for the Texas Gulf Sulphur Company and enjoyed hunting, gardening, and his family.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, a brother: James Earl Worthy, Jr., two sisters: Estelle Rich and Maurice Land. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rosie Lee Worthy, of Liberty, TX., a son: Gene O. Worthy, Jr. and wife Juanita, two daughters: Patty Fenner and husband Jack, Karen Tims and husband Paul, a sister: Iris Threlkeld, and six grandchildren: Anna Guidry and husband Jay, Aaron Worthy and wife Melanie, Candi Foreman and husband Neil, Kelli Tims, Ashley Worthy, and Courtney Tims, and a host of other family members and friends.

Williams
Joann Baker Williams, 65, of Deer Park, TX died, Monday, November 24, 2008 in Houston, after a brave fight with cancer.
She was born April 27, 1943 in Quitman, Mississippi, to parents: Arthur Baker and Mildred Price Mason Baker She was a long time resident of Baytown, Texas, where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1962, continuing her education in Mobile, Alabama where she attended beautician school. Joann enjoyed growing flowers, reading, and dancing. She loved her family and especially enjoyed camping and boating with them. She was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church in Pasadena, TX.
Services for Mrs. Williams will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Hilley officiating. Interment will follow at Linney cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her grandparents: John and Missouri Baker, Otis and Pearl Cooper, Waldo and Virgie Mason; step-father: Charlie Ed Price and her great-nephew: Chase Siebert. Riffle
James Allen “Beaver” Riffle, 38, died at his home Tuesday, November 25, 2008.
He was born October 7, 1970 in Jamestown, New York, to parents: Lloyd H. Riffle, Sr. and Rebecca M. Efaw Riffle. He had lived in this area for the past two years, previously living in West Virginia. He enjoyed the computer, building stereo speakers, and mechanics. He was a people person and loved being with his family.
Services are planned at Frey Home for Funerals in Fairmont West Virginia. Local arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas.
Mr. Riffle was preceded in death by his grandparents: James and Betty Efaw, and Annie L. Hovatter. He is survived by his mother: Rebecca M. Efaw Riffle of Dayton; his father: Lloyd H. Riffle, Sr. of Jamestown, New York; his brother: Lloyd Henry Riffle, Jr. and wife Shannon of Silsbee; his sister: Betty Riffle Marler and husband John of Dayton; his niece: Heather M. Holland
James Holland, age 77, died Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Liberty Healthcare Center.
James was born in Batson January 24, 1931, the son of the late Richard Holland and Edna Jordan Holland. He was veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Army. He later went on to drive trucks.
James leaves behind his aunts Mary M. King and Clara Nightengale as well as a good friend Ben Stegall. A graveside service will be held Wednesday 11 AM at Jordan cemetery in Batson, TX.
Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis have been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mouton
Funeral Service for Ethel Mouton, 85, of Devers, Texas, will be held Monday, November 24, 2008 at Galilee Baptist Church, Devers, Texas, at 11 A.M with Reverend Jethro Lee, officiating, with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas.
A native of Rayne, Louisiana, she was a domestic worker.
A member of Galilee Baptist Church, she died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas, after a brief illness.
Visitation will be held from 9 A.M. until time of service at the church.

Cain
Doris Lee Kelley Cain, formerly of Liberty, died at the Atria Senior Facility in Sugarland, on Wednesday, November 19, 2008.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 22 at 2 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX. Rev. Richard Lintelman will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty.
She was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Everett H. Cain, Sr., her parents and sister, Evelyn Winfield.
Doris is survived by her sons, Everett Harrison Cain Jr. of Austin and C.H. Cain of Hemphill and daughter, Doris Lee Rowell of Sugarland.

Fregia
Bobby Lee Fregia Sr., age 58, of Liberty, TX, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 in Houston, TX.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 20, 2008, from 5 pm until 8 pm at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, Dayton, TX. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008, 2:00PM at Sterling Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hardin Chapel cemetery, Hardin, Texas.
Bobby was born on December 8, 1949 in Liberty, Texas, to Wilson Fregia and Alva Beard Fregia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War where he served two tours of duty. During his service to his country Mr. Fregia was wounded and left disabled. He will be remembered fondly for his love of barbecuing, country music, and scratch off tickets. He was a man with a good sense of humor that loved to tell stories. His greatest joy was his family and he loved to spend time with them, especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents and a half brother Travis Lindsey.

Babbs
Tommie O’Neal Babbs, 39, of Liberty, died Saturday, November 15, 2008.
He was born September 5, 1969 in Galveston, Texas, to parents: Herbert Lee Babbs, Sr. and Erniter Britton Babbs-Lewis. He had lived in Liberty, since 1982 and graduated from Liberty High School in 1989. He was currently working for Campbell Concrete in Texas City. He loved his family, his friends, enjoyed playing dominoes, listening to music, and cooking bar-b-q. Tommie also enjoyed working on cars.
Services for Mr. Babbs will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday before the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Herbert Lee Babbs, Sr. and Erniter Babbs-Lewis; his step-father: Taft Lewis; his brothers: Herbert Lee Babbs, Jr. and Nathan Babbs. Sherman
Bernice Cross Sherman died on Monday, November 17, 2008.
She was born in Laurel, Mississippi, on November 11, 1922.
She is preceded in death by her husband Romaine Sherman; sister, Leah Baumann; and brother, A.B. Cross, Jr.
She is survived by her six children, Judy Sherman, Sibbie Lancon, Janet Waldie and husband David, J.R. “Chipper” Sherman and wife Martha, Karen Shepherd and husband David, and Leslie Nelson and husband Jim.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mike and Chris Lancon, Lance Waldie, Piper Joyce, Jessica Dorough, Josh and Kirk Sherman, Jess Delz, and Holly and Brice Nelson; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous more relatives and close friends.
Bernice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a friend to many and will be missed by all who loved her.

Hebert
James Harrell Hebert, 60, of Liberty, died at his home on Wednesday, November 12, 2008.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Valley Community Bible Church, 1507 North San Jacinto, Liberty, at 2 P.M. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to service at the church.
James was born on December 11, 1947 to parents, Ragis A. Fontenot Sr. and Annie Mae Hebert. He was retired from Lubrizol after many years and enjoyed cooking. He was a member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames.
James is preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Joseph H. Hebert; brothers, Norris Melonson and Joseph Melonson. He is survived by his son, Kevin James Hebert; daughters, Nicole Booker and husband, Gusta, Rebecca Hebert and his husband, Gregory Winters and Devon Duran and husband, Edgar; sisters, Kay Tebo and Susie Waters; brothers, Ragis Fontenot Jr. and Marvin Searles. Five grandchildren also survive, Shannon Smith, Peyton Booker, Halye Winters, Jordyn Duran and Jacob Duran.

Dunagan
Baxter Willis Dunagan of Liberty, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 14, 2008 at 2 P.M. at the First Methodist Church of Liberty with the Rev. Jay Barnes officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday, November 13 from 5-8 P.M. at the Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty.
Baxter was born October 17, 1952 in Beaumont, TX, to parents, James “Jim” Abner and Sarah Grace Willis Dunagan. He was a 1970 graduate of Liberty High School and the Sam Houston State University Class of 1978. He married
Susan Kaye Downs in 1982 and they had one son, B. W. Dunagan Jr. He was a rice farmer and rancher who loved to play golf, fish, and flag football. Baxter was a member of the Men’s Bible Class of the First Methodist Church of Liberty, where he served on the administrative board.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandra Dunagan and father-in-law, B.L. “Pee Wee” Downs.
Baxter is survived by his wife, Susan K. Dunagan; son, B. W. Dunagan Jr. and mother-in-law, Mae Joyce Downs; brother, Jimbo Dunagan and wife, Rebecca; sisters, Susan Gordy and husband, Marvin and Kathy Dunagan. Nichols
Gordon Allen Nichols, 88, of Mt. Belvieu, Texas, died Sunday, November 9, 2008.
He was born on December 7, 1919 to Dan Allen and Virgie (Gregory) Nichols in Gadsden, Alabama. Gordon was a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Belvieu, and was active in the Men’s Sunday school as well. Gordon enlisted into the United States Army in 1940 and served until 1945. He enjoyed golfing and oversaw the construction of Eagle Point Golf Course as a volunteer. He was such a good golfer that he hit 3 hole-in-ones in his lifetime. Gordon was great with his hands. He built and played dulcimers and carved many things out of wood. But above all else, Gordon loved spending time with his family.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Christine Chaney; and brother, James Nichols. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Helen Nichols; daughter, Sharon Barrow and husband Richard of Mt. Belvieu; sister, Velida Ozment of Vidor; two grandchildren, Richard Barrow and wife Terrie of Nashville, Tennessee and Brandi King and husband Kevin of Hockley; five great-grandchildren, Ethan and Noah Barrow, Kensington and Britain Williams, and Layne King; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be from six until eight o’clock in the evening, Thursday, November 13 at Sterling Funeral Home. A service of remembrance will be held at Two o’clock in the afternoon, Friday, November 14 at Sterling Funeral Home with interment to follow in Guedry cemetery in Batson. Coleman
