Beaulah Pearl Davis
Services for Beaulah Pearl Davis, 67, of Ratcliff will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Saint John Baptist Church in Grapeland with the Revs. L. Session, Thomas Willis and Sammie Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Golden Gate Cemetery in Grapeland under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 20, 1935 in Grapeland to Walter and Jane McCoy Kissee.
Mrs. Davis moved to Ratcliff in 1975 and was employed as a housekeeper. She was a member of the Tabernacle of Yahweh in Grapeland.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, Jesse Davis; her parents; three brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Davis is survived by daughters, Dianne K. Davis of Crockett and Barbara A. Polk of Palestine; brother, Herman Marshall of Houston; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be E.J. Coleman, James McCoy, Jimmie McCoy, Joe McCoy, Homer Polk Sr. and James Polk.
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and friends of the family.
Joe Billie Bridges
Services for Joe Billie Bridges, 67, of Grapeland, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Grapeland Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Hall officiating. Burial will be in Parker Cemetery in Houston County under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mr. Bridges died Saturday in the East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.
He was born July 30, 1935 in Houston County to Clarence Bridges to Abbie Lee James Bridges.
Mr. Bridges was a member of the Grapeland Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years. He worked as a registered nurse at the Grapeland Nursing Home until his retirement.
Mr. Bridges was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Winnie Bridges of Grapeland; his mother, Abbie Lee Bridges of Grapeland; daughter, Selena Cryer of Grapeland; son, William Bridges of Moline, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Willie Marie Calcote
Services for Willie Marie Calcote, 87, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. today at Land of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. J.T. Thomas officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Calcote died Friday at Greenbrier Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Jacksonville to W.F. and Omie Jerrells Oden.
Mrs. Calcote was a member of Norwood Heights Baptist Church. She was a sales clerk for K-Wolens Department Store.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Calcote, in 1995.
Mrs. Calcote is survived by daughters, Jerry Ann Douglass of Palestine and Beverly Jo Hughes of Houston; son, Allen Calcote of Tennessee Colony; brother, Durwood Oden of Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Donald F. Brooks
Funeral arrangements for Donald F. Brooks, 74, of Palestine, are pending at Herrington/Land of Memory.
Mr. Brooks died Saturday morning near Cayuga after a sudden illness.
Anne Johnston Chennault

Mrs. Chennault died Saturday at the Hospice Home in Tyler.
Dean Miley
Funeral services for Dean Miley, 52, of Tennessee Colony will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Evangelistic Temple with Dr. Barry Roberts and Rev. Dale Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Miley died Tuesday in a Tyler hospital after a sudden illness. He was born March 19, 1950 in Houston to Donald Curtis and Penny Miley. He had lived in Anderson County since 1980 coming from Tomball. Mr. Miley had worked in law enforcement with Anderson County for 20 years, having served as former police chief in Elkhart and currently as a deputy with the sheriff’s department. He was a member of the Anderson County Public Safety Association and a member of Judson Baptist Church. He also served in the U.S. Navy. He loved people.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald C. Miley. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Miley of Tennessee Colony; son, Robert Miley of Tennessee Colony; daughter, Charity Miley of Athens; mother, Penny Miley Lester of Elkhart; sisters and brother-in-laws, Jeanie and Doug Aden of Point Blank and LaNell and Danny Perry of Magnolia; and three grandchildren, Kaylee, Kaitlyn and Karlee.
Pallbearers will be David Brock, Johnny Baker, B.T. Bettingfield, Larry Ward, Lamar Robertson and Shelby Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Brownlow, John Hobson, Chuck Franklin, Brian Chason, David Coker, David Hartman, Richard Farris, Tammy Lightfoot and Fannie Hutchison.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Anderson County Animal Shelter.
Jim B. Oden

Juanita Cockerham Denison
Services for Juanita Cockerham Denison, 80, of Hillsboro, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Assembly of God Church in Hillsboro with the Rev. Al Crane officiating. Burial will follow in Milford Cemetery under the direction of Edens Funeral Home of Hillsboro.
Mrs. Denison died Saturday at her home.
She was born June 30, 1921 in Winn Parish, La. to Gill and Olive Mae Holloway Cockerham.
Mrs. Denison grew up in Louisiana and Ellis County, Texas and attended school in Ellis County.
She worked in Waxahachie during the early part of World War II and on June 27, 194, she married Noal Denison in Milford. She then lived in Galveston, LaMarque and Palestine before moving back to Milford in 1980.
She was preceded in death by a daughter.
Mrs. Denison is survived by her husband; a son, Albert Denison of Palestine; daughters, Barbara Jennings of San Antonio and Sandra Zimmerman of Houston; a sister, Lovie Marie Pruitt of Waxahachie; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Barbara Gean Eisworth

Eliza Lee Page Brown
Services of Eliza Lee Page Brown, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of the Living God in Tennessee Colony with the Rev. Casteel officiating. Burial will follow in Jimmerson Quarters Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown died Wednesday at Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler.
She was born Sept. 27, 1921 in Anderson County to George and Lue Dellia Dawson Page.
Mrs. Brown attended St. John School. She was a former member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and member and usher for Church of the Living God. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.J. Brown; and five children.
Mrs. Brown is survived by sons, L.J. Brown, George Brown Jr., James Brown and Robert Brown, all of Fort Worth, and L.C. Brown of Tennessee Colony; daughters, Vernoise Brown Taylor of Tennessee Colony and Ammie M. Coleman of Dallas; sisters, Alice Tucker and Jessie Mae Ross, both of Fort Worth, Elaine Dale of Colorado Springs, Colo., Helen Bass of Palestine and Elnora Walton of Dallas; brother, Arthur Lee Page of Fort Worth; 24 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the Church of the Living God.
Herbert S. Nicholson
Services for Herbert S. Nicholson, 88, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. Alan Van Hooser officiating.
Mr. Nicholson died Wednesday at Cartmell Home for the Aged.
He was born Jan. 24, 1914 in Palestine to Scott and Mary Collier Nicholson.
Mr. Nicholson was a lifelong resident of Palestine. He was a retired material clerk with Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church.
Mr. Nicholson was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II who served in the South Pacific during the war.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy White Nicholson, in 1993.
Mr. Nicholson is survived by a son, Calvin Nicholson of Palestine; sister, Mary Lightfoot of Palestine; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren..
Pallbearers will be Nick Nicholson, Scott Nicholson, Ethan Nicholson, Jerrett Nicholson, Ken Alford and Danny Glenn.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Nicholson, Jesse Nicholson, Edwin Woodard and Wallace Holcomb.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Eleanor Word Nance Curtis
Services for Eleanor Word Nanee Curtis, of Palm Beach, Fla., and formerly of Palestine, will be at 1:30 p.m. May 18 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Palestine with the Rev. James H. Booker Jr. officiating. Interment will be in East Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Curtis is survived by her husband of 67 years, Edward William Curtis of Palm Beach; son, Edward William Curtis Jr. of New Orleans; daughter, Eleanor Nance Curtis Booker of Houston; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Annie Kitner
Services for Annie Kitner, 91, of Grapeland, were at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Grapeland with the Rev. Dean Reeves officiating.
Mrs. Kitner died Monday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 17, 1910 in Mart to Josef Horak and Katarina Kratochvil Horak.
Mrs. Kitner was a homemaker and member of the Methodist church. She was a 50-year member of Slavonic Benevolent Order of the State of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kitner.
Mrs. Kitner is survived by a daughter, Kathy Bridges of Grapeland; a son, David Lawrence Kitner of Freer; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Velma Jones
