Burton

Jamie Ann Burton, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend; born April 13, 1980 in Houston, Texas, to Joe Dusak & Margie (Lewis) Dusak; died at the age thirty, in Dayton, Texas on Thursday, August, 12, 2010.

Jamie or “J” by her family and friends, has been a lifelong resident of the Dayton area; attending and graduating from MacArthur High School. In her free time she enjoyed fishing, camping and especially cooking for her family and friends; as many of her loved ones knew her best as a water baby always wanting to be on river and spending those times with her children. One of her greatest known hobbies was her passion to save mementos and memories from every occasion; from every touching moment shared with her beloved husband and her dearly loved children. Jamie will be deeply missed by all who had the gift of having their life’s touched by her.

She is preceded in death by her two aunts, Mavis Wood & JoAnn Lambert and her sister, Susie Cooley.

She is survived by her loving husband of fifteen years, Michael Burton Jr.; children, Breanna & Blake Burton; mother, Margie Hogan & husband, Alvey; father, Joe Dusak; siblings, Cynthia Deluna, Joseph Dusak and James Lewis and numerous other beloved family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 5-8pm Monday, August 16, 2010 with a celebration of life being held at 7:00pm at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas 77535.

Polasek

Mary Frances Polasek was born on December 31, 1928, in Neuburn, Texas, died peacefully on August 14, 2010, after a brief illness due to complications from pancreatic cancer.

Mrs. Polasek was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen John Polasek and her parents, Ruby Kay and Earl Burton Martin.

Mary Frances is survived by her only child, Kay Frances Polasek-Joyce and son-in-law, Rene’ Ronald Joyce and two step-grandchildren, James and Jessica Joyce, of New Orleans; first cousins, Dolly Annette Herndon and her husband John, of Humble, TX, Marlene Bacon, of Beaumont, TX, Joe Jones and Vannie Jones, of Beaumont, TX, Thelma Lee Camp, of Tyler, TX, her special pal, David Parker. She and David saw every movie that came out.

Mary Frances was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Liberty. She was a member of the WMU and taught Sunday School as well as Vacation Bible School.

Mary Frances enjoyed her special friends from high school, Beth Buchanan and Joe Ann Root. She adored her weekly domino games with Beth Buchanan, Doris Chapman, Barbara Shipman, Eloise Dennison and Ollie Davis.

Mary Frances had a wonderful life and was a very positive mentor to many friends of all ages.

Mary Frances was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She was included in every activity of her daughters’ life from childhood to the present. We will all miss her positive out-going personality and her beautiful smile.

Mary Frances was a very unique “Southern Belle”. She was a second generation “Hat Lady”. Her precious mother, Ruby Kay Martin, taught her to be true to herself and to her family. Mary Frances always lived life to the fullest and always did it “Her Way”. Mary Frances loved and appreciated all your prayers, flowers and cards.

A committal service will be held on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Catholic cemetery of Liberty, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 at the First Baptist Church of Liberty at 602 Main Street, officiated by Rev. Steve Bean. A reception will follow at the First Baptist Activity Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Home, 1101 N. Travis Street, Liberty, TX, 77575, 936-336-6418.

Catchings

William Art Catchings, 76, of Hardin, died on Saturday August 14, 2010 with his friends and family by his side. He was an active member of the Hardin Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Catherine Catchings; Children, Robin Watson and husband Clyde of Hardin, Ricky Wayne Catchings and wife Mary of Hardin, Kimberly Ann Melancon of Hardin; grandchildren, Sarah Watson, Pamela Morgan and husband Eric, Dana Brashier and husband Matt, Amy Catchings, Corey Kinnamon, Michael Kinnamon; great grandchildren, Avery Montgomery, Marley Montgomery, Kinley Brashier, Brady Morgan, Ethan Morgan, and Kaden Brashier.

Family will receive friends at Allison Funeral Home on Monday August 16, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday 10:00 A.M. at Hardin Baptist Church officiated by Tony Hines. Burial will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the directions of Allison Funeral Home, 1101 N. Travis, Liberty, TX, 77575, 936-336-6418.

Curry

Jimmy D. Curry, 64, of Dayton, died Friday, August 13, 2010, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at a later date at Magnolia Park cemetery. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jimmy was born November 9, 1945 in Liberty, to parents; Jimmie and Joanna Reynolds Curry, and has resided in the Dayton area throughout his life. He was a graduate of Dayton High School, former stocker for Wal-Mart, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. Curry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brothers: Donnie L. Curry of Dayton and Bobby Curry and wife Carolyn of Skiatook, OK, sister: Dianna Ashby and husband C.D. of Kennedale, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Walker

Funeral Service for Mackie Walker, 108, of Dayton, Texas, will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, with the Reverend Emery Maxwell, officiating, burial in Acie cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Services, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Bunkie, Louisiana, Mrs. Walker moved with parents and six siblings to Texas, where she spent all of her adult life.

Her long life enabled her to experience history from the days of horse and buggy transportation right through the Space Age. She married and raised seven children. Later, as a single mother, she provided for them through the Great Depression and World War II. She also witnessed the country at war in World War I, the Korean Conflict, the Viet Nam War, the Gulf War and our current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. She saw scientists come up with the cures for polio, tuberculosis, and a host of other deadly and debilitating diseases. Remarkably, other than an occasional head cold, she was never ill a day in her life. She even managed to escape the usual childhood illnesses of mumps, measles, and chickenpox! Although her life was difficult in many ways, she was equally blessed in still other ways.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Gussie Williams, of Baytown, Texas; one son, Freddy Guidry; one granddaughter, Bettye Woods; two grandsons, Malcolm Guidry and Roy Welch; five great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She also has a full spectrum of nieces and nephews and their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2010. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 A.M. until time of service.

Yawn

Rip Rene Yawn, 52, of Dayton, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in Liberty.

He was born October 9, 1957 in Long Beach, California to parents Jack and Charlene Cannaberry Roach. He was a lifetime resident of this area and graduated from Dayton High School in 1977 continuing his education at Lee College. Rip enjoyed taking care of his yard and landscaping, playing checkers and hunting. He was a member of Our Father’s House Church.

Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 16, 2010 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Dayton with Rev. Edward Taylor officiating.

Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the funeral home.

Mr. Yawn was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 34 years: Cindy Conley Yawn of Dayton; his sons: Derrek Yawn and wife Alaina of Dayton, Braden Yawn of Dayton, and Christopher “Boogie” Yawn and wife Megan of Dayton; two grandchildren: Haven and Preston; brother: Todd Gear and wife Jennifer of Los Angele; sisters: Cathy Sample and Sherri Star both of Los Angeles; four nieces, one nephew, other relatives and a host of friends.

Parker

Ida Bell Parker, age 80, of Cleveland, Texas, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010.

She was born in Liberty, Texas on January 6, 1930. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, William Parker; grandson, Charles Vandver; sisters, Dorothy Moffett, Carrie Parker, Estelle Collins and Claudia Sumrall.

Survivors include her son, Leonard Parker and wife, Paula; daughters, Linda Vandver and husband, Roy, Jeanell Mulkey and husband, Bruce and Trudy Roberts; two granddaughters, two grandsons, eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Crawford of Silsbee, Texas, Ruby Clark of Devers, Texas; brother, Gilbert Collins of Lockhart, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and treasured friends throughout the years.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 11, 2010, 6:00-9:00 p.m. and Thursday, August 12, 2010, 8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Larry Jones will preside over funeral services held 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 13, 2010 at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Interment will follow at Blue Water cemetery, Segno, Texas. Pallbearers include Corbett Clark, James Clark Jr., Shane Parker, Dale Parker, Eric McGibney, Cory Parker, Delbert Moffett.

Ramirez

Augustine Samuel Ramirez, Sr., 70, of Crosby, died on Tuesday August 10, 2010.

He was born August 16, 1939 in Vidor, Texas. He proudly served his country by serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. After a career of over 30 years, he retired from Champion Paper Mill in Sheldon. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed football, fishing and family outings. Mostly, he was a family man who believed in the bond and strength of family. He loved his children, adored his grandchildren, and especially loved his “Little” dog Cheyenne.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Nestoria Ramirez; siblings, Rosa Lee Ramirez, Catrino Ramirez, and infant son, Juan Andre Ramirez.

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Ann (Webb) Ramirez; sons, Augustine Samuel (Tino) Ramirez, Jr. and partner Gilbert Johnson, Mario Alberto Ramirez, Aaron Morris Ramirez, James Barron Ramirez and wife Julia; daughter, Monica Ann Ramirez-Butler and husband Joseph; grandchildren, Frank Ramirez, Joshua Ramirez, Samantha Ramirez, Brice Ramirez, Joseph Kenzie Beasley, Nicholas Samuel Beasley, Trey Miguel Ramirez, Jaymason Paul Ramirez, Jessica Ann Ramirez, Jules Audrey Ramirez; great grandchildren, Leah Mckayla Ramirez and Aaidyn Cash Ramirez; sister, Beatrice Lopez and husband John; brothers, Luis Ramirez and wife Lois, Tony Ramirez and wife Frances and sister-in-law, Rosa Ramirez.

The Ramirez family will receive friends at Sterling Funeral Home on Friday August 13, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday August 14, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Sterling Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Linney cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Andy West, Bobby Manning, Jake Burr, Joe Butler, Michael B. Webb and Ernest Mike Webb.

Arrangements are under the direction Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main, Dayton, Texas, 77535, 936-258-2678.

Jones

Jerry Wayne Jones, 68, of Dayton, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in Houston.

He was born February 17, 1942 in Liberty County to parents Robert Lee and Rosalee Tanner Jones. A lifetime resident of this area, Jerry was currently working for Austin Industrial at Equistar in Mont Belvieu. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, enjoyed working in the yard, his garden and doing special woodworking projects. He was always known for helping others and being a kind, wonderful sweet person that loved his family.

Services for Mr. Jones will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2010 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Dayton with Rev. Jimmy Charles officiating and Robert Hajovsky speaking. Interment will follow at Lum Garden of Memories in Macedonia. Pallbearers are Littleman, Jarrett Jones, Toby Jones, Shane Hajovsky, Robert Hajovsky, and Jennifer Lujan. Honorary Pallbearers are Roger Tanner, Jodie Tanner and Bo Lehan. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his father: Robert Lee Jones and his brother: Clarence E. Jones. He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Judy L. Jones of Dayton; daughter: Connie Lehan and husband Bo of Dayton; son: Carl Jones & wife Glenda of Dayton; mother: Rosalee Tanner Jones of San Antonio; brother: Earnest Jones & wife Rose Marie of Dayton; his sister: Shirley Costolow of San Antonio; Five Grandchildren: Robert Hajovsky, Shane Hajovsky, Jennifer Lujan, Jarrett Jones, and Toby Jones; Eleven Great-Grandchildren; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Allen

Bryan Keith Allen, 45, of Grand Prairie, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in Beaumont after an extended illness.

He was born July 11, 1965 in Beaumont, Texas to parents: Alonzo Allen, Jr. and Louise Margaret Mueller Allen. He graduated in 1983 from Liberty High School, lived for many in years in Lumberton before moving to the Arlington area where he was employed by Clifford Wofford Farmers Insurance and was a member of the Celebration Community Church in Fort Worth. Bryan taught and performed ballroom dancing and he enjoyed gardening.

Services for Mr. Allen will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Dayton with Rev. Carol West officiating. Interment to follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by sister: Brenda Swearingen of Grand Prairie; brothers: Larry Allen and wife Wanda of Fannett, Harold Allen of Fannett, and James Allen of Grand Prairie; nieces and nephews: Ashley Castrogiovanni and her children Hailey and Gracie of Germany, Misti and Greg Sommer and their children: Destiny, Devon, and Gregory of Cut and Shoot, Brittany Allen of Fannett; also numerous other relatives and friends.

Vales

Lillian Frances (Verrette) Vales, age 90, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in Raywood, with her beloved family by her side.

Lillian was born in Raywood, September 15, 1919 the daughter of the late Peter Verrette and Alida Fontenot Verette. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and working in her garden. Lillian was also a faithful servant to her Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Raywood where she served on the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lewis Vales Jr. and a brother Leo Verrette.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters Virginia Benoit husband Alphonse of San Antonio, Earline Valdez husband Enrique of San Antonio, Cynthia Wong husband Johnny of League City, son Elliott Vales wife Yolanda of Saratoga, CA., and a sister Mary Medina of Raywood. In addition she leaves her beloved grandchildren, Christopher Buitte, Katherine Sanchez, Ivy Vales, and Louie Vales, as well as her adored great-grandchildren, Chris Vales, Lauren Buitte, Chris Elliott Buitte, Ashley Buitte, Aaron Buitte, and Evan Lewis Sanchez. Lillian will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at ten o’clock in the morning, Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3370 FM 160 N. Raywood, Texas, with burial to immediately follow in Sacred Heart cemetery.

Visitation will begin at eight-thirty in the morning Saturday, with a nine o’clock Rosary service.

Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis, Liberty has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Crouthers

Katherine Zelma Crouthers, 85, of Hardin, died on Monday August 9, 2010.

She was a very Loving mother and a hard worker. She took extra care of her children. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors with such activities as fishing and hunting. She also loved to make quilts. She was a fine person who will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Hansen Nugent; second husband, Edward Devick Crouthers; sons, Charles Lee Nugent and Hanson Nugent; brothers, Harlon Dowdell, Romaine Dowdell; sister, Bessie Vater; half brother, William Albert Dowdell.

She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Nugent, Sandra Ribble; brother, Joe Dowdell; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday 2:00 p.m. August 12, 2010, at the Apostolic Tabernacle of Batson, officiated by Tolbert Hudspeth. Burial will follow at Guedry cemetery.
