Jimmie Larene Blanton Land of Melrose, Texas, died June 7, 2011 at age 85.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 10, 2011 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow in San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston.
A gathering of Jimmie's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the funeral home.
Jimmie was preceded in death by her husband Robert G. Land, son Timothy E. Land, stepson Alan Land and brothers Jesse E. Blanton and James L. Blanton.
She is survived by her son Vincent Antone Casto; Daughters-in-law Bobbie Casto and Starla Land Stonecipher; former, but still precious to her, "Daughters" Patty Land Jones and Joanne Land Clancy; Sister and best friend, Allie Lorraine Crum; grandchildren Traci Galyean, Shannon Casto, Robin French, Mandi, Angela, Crystal and Albin Land, and Matt Patton; great grandchildren Timothy Land and Alyssa and Vincent Galyean; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She would have had a special thank you to Debra Blanton, her niece, fiercest protector and most tender lifeline to the outside world who was with her almost every day.
Simon
Lester Lee Simon, 50, of Anahuac, died on Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Anahuac. He was a loving son, brother, and uncle.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Eminence Baptist in Wallisville. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of Lester's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.
Lester was a native Anahuac. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; N.C. and Doris Simon; Norman and Minnie Mitchum; sister-in-law Carol Simon.
Lester is survived by his parents, Guy and Barbara Mitchum Simon; brother, Guy Simon Jr and wife, Dawn; sister, Marie Middleton and husband Kent; brother, T.C. Simon; sister, Kay Morris and husband, Larry; aunt, Marilyn Bilyeu; uncles, Lee Simon and wife JoJo, Phillip Mitchum and wife Debbie, and David Mitchum; great aunts, Mary Gilliam, and Mary Goodsell; several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Dorman
Louie Edward Dorman Sr., 72, of Dayton, died on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at his residence. He was a loving father, grandfather, and brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 11, 2011 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. A gathering of Louie's family and friends will be from5:00 to 8:00 Pm on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the funeral home.
Louie was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Betty Cannon Dorman; sons, Lee and Steve Dorman; brother, Earl Dorman; sister, Doris Dorman.
Louie is survived by his sons, Ed Dorman Jr., Tommy Dorman and wife, Diane, and Paul Dorman and wife, Lisa; 13 grandchildren; sister, Barbara Dorman; brother, Wayne Dorman; and a host of other family and friends.
Powell
Louise LeNormand Powell, 80, life-long resident of Hull, TX, died Sunday June 5, 2011. She loved to fish and crochet and working in her garden. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Powell; brothers, L.C. LeNormand, Ralph LeNormand, Clinton "Bull" Lenormand, Pete Lenormand; sisters, Mary Lillian Broussard, Judy Dowdell; parents, Austin and Gladys LeNormand.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Taylor and husband Nelson of Hull; sons, Perry Powell and wife Julia of Batson, Terry Powell and wife Joyce of Liberty, Phill Powell and Rhonda of Old River, sister-in-law, Ethel LeNormand of Hull, special family friends, Randy Wheeler and Charles Barr; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel on Tuesday June 7, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday June 8, 2011 at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Allen Owens. Burial will follow at Guedry cemetery.

Morgan
Randolph Lee “Randy” Morgan, 58, of Liberty, Texas, passed away in Baytown on Sunday, June 5, 2011. A memorial service will be held at four o’clock in the afternoon, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Randy was born on January 31, 1953 in Baytown, Texas to parents Richard E. “Ace” Morgan and Cleo Atkinson Morgan. He was graduated from Milby High School in Houston, Texas and was graduated from Sam Houston State University. Mr. Morgan taught school for twenty-seven years in Liberty ISD and surrounding districts. Along with teaching, he also coached football and golf. He enjoyed music and played the banjo, mandolin, and guitar professionally. Randy was also involved with The Valley Players. He enjoyed woodworking, home repairs, and spending time with his friends and family.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents and one niece Keely Morgan. He is survived by his wife, Penny Morgan; one son, Trace Wesley Morgan; a sister, Ginger Cooper and husband Mike; a brother, Richard Morgan and wife Shirley; a niece Morgan Cooper and a nephew Michael Cooper.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Liberty Municipal Library, or the Liberty Middle School Library.

Robbins
Edwin “Ed” Robbins, Jr., 79, of Kenefick, died Monday, May 30, 2011. He was born March 12, 1932 in Groveton, Texas to parents Edwin Robbins, Sr. and Betty Perkins Robbins. Ed served his country in the US Army from 1952 until 1954. He had lived in Kenefick for the past 14 years after moving from Sheldon where he had worked for Enpro before retiring. Ed was a member of AARP, NRA and was an alderman of the city of Kenefick.
Services for Mr. Robbins will be 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Houston National cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until noon, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.
Mr. Robbins was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Herbert K. & Jesse C. Robbins, and his sister, Necia V. Wood. He is survived by his brothers: Johnny Robbins, Jr. and wife Josephine of Humble and Ray Robbins and wife Sue of Aransas Pass; his sister: Julia E. Gaitz of Cypress; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Antoine

Alex Stash Ripkowski, 94, of Dayton, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Liberty Healthcare Center in Liberty.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday with rosary services at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Alex was born September 23, 1916, in New Waverly, to parents; Stash and Mattie Olbrich Ripkowski, and has been a lifelong resident of Dayton. He was rice farmer, veteran of the US Army with service during WW II and awarded the good conduct medal, and EAME campaign medal with five bronze stars, former owner/operator of Rip’s Texaco and Rip’s Café, member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the American Rice Growers, the American Legion serving as finance officer for numerous years during his 57 year membership, and life member of the Nolan D. Pickett VFW Post #5621. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and bossing the Rip kids.
Mr. Ripkowski was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Daisy Ripkowski, stepdaughter: Patsy Ballard, stepson: Charlie Hatcher, sister: Virginia Carter, and brothers: Bill, Bernie, Felix, August, Stanley, Raymond, Herman, and Leon Ripkowski. He is survived by his brothers: Franklin Ripkowski of Dayton, John Ripkowski of Dayton, and Mike Ripkowski of Dayton, sisters: Kathryn Machala of Crosby, Pearline Tilton of Victoria, and Anna Lee Campbell of Dayton, stepchildren: Sid and Glenn Ballard, Jill Baxter, and Jana Zylmon, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Kaye Perry Lee, 55, of Liberty, died Friday, June 3, 2011, at the Liberty Healthcare Center in Liberty.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Kaye was born November 9, 1955 in Cleveland, to parents; R. C. Perry and Evelyn Swearingen, and has resided in the Liberty area throughout her life. She was a homemaker, had attended the National Education Center for nursing, and enjoyed her grandchildren, watching game shows, and fishing.
Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her father: R. C. Perry and mother: Evelyn Swearingen Arnold. She is survived by her daughters: Stephanie Green and husband Richard of Atascocita and Rebecca Davenport and husband Thomas of Liberty, companion: Leroy Taylor of Liberty, sisters: Marla Cowart and husband Ron of Rye, brother: Edward Stafford of Orange, grandchildren: Richie Green, Zachary Green, Madison Tanton, Kali Davenport, Ryan Davenport, and Kade Davenport, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Zeno-Toussiant
Vera Lee Zeno-Toussiant (Ma-Ma) was born to the late Tom and Veralla Zeno, January 12, 1921 in Devers, Texas.
As a young child she united with Galilee Baptist Church in Devers, Texas where she accepted the Lord at an early age. She attended school in Devers, Texas where she completed her education.
Later she met and married
Joseph Milton Toussaint Sr. on November 26, 1941 and through this union 7 children were born.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, 10 siblings, 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 1 great grandson.
Ma-Ma was a devoted woman of GOD until death. She was a true worshipper who enjoyed listening to her family sing praises unto GOD. Her hobbies were sewing, fishing and cooking. The most important message in her life was sharing the word of God to everyone she knew and met.
In cherishing her memories she's survived by Karen Rollins of Dayton; Velma (Charles) Williams Sr. of Houston; Sherrye Tousant of Dayton; Joseph (Carrie)Tousant of Humble; Thomas Keith (Valarie) Tousant of Baytown; Dean (Felicia) Tousant of Dayton; Melody (Odysseus) Jackson of Humble; Sister, Mable Zeno, Godson, Daren Williams, Twenty two grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and a (spiritual daughter and son) Twana Williams and Ron Polluard along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Abshier
Dorothy Beulah Abshier, 89, of Hankamer, died on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at her residence. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Hankamer under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Abshier cemetery in Hankamer. A gathering of Dorothy’s family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Cholley Evans Pugh; husband, James Abshier; daughter, Patricia Gale Abshier; granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Abshier; and sister, Margaret Ann Harmon.
Dorothy is survived by her sisters, Mary Joyce Cleine, Evelyn Mayes, and Paulette Beasley; daughter, Donna Bennett; granddaughter, Lindsey Lee Bennett, grandson, Charles “Bill” William Bennett Jr. and wife, Krista, granddaughter, Kristen Bennett, great grandson, Julian Bennett; and a host of other family and friends.

McWhirter
Delbert Wayne McWhirter, age 64, died on June 2, 2011.
Mr. McWhirter was born on November 15, 1946, in DeQuincy, Louisiana, to Delbert U. McWhirter, Jr. and Dorothy Baggett McWhirter. The family moved to Mauriceville, Texas where he graduated from Mauriceville High School in 1965. After graduating Lamar University in 1970 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, spending time in Vietnam. Mr. McWhirter had a love for learning which carried over to his love for teaching. He earned his MEd from Stephen F Austin University. During his life he taught junior high, high school, and middle school science in Killeen ISD (9 years), at Dayton High School (3 years), in Aldine ISD (3 years), and finally at Liberty Middle School (18 years). He also taught Sunday School classes, Vacation Bible School classes, nieces, nephews, and anyone who was present when the opportunity presented itself. In addition to learning and teaching, Mr. McWhirter enjoyed fishing, birding, and a vigorous exchange of ideas. Above all, Mr. McWhirter lived his life by his Christian values.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Wanda Gail Freedman McWhirter, his son, Clinton Dwayne McWhirter, his daughter, Kimberly Anne and her husband Calvin Brown Jr. His surviving siblings are Pam and husband Tom Easterling, Linn and wife Colleen, Hal and wife Becky, and Kris and husband Wayne Trimmier. Also, 5 nephews, 3 nieces and 4 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family wishes to thank the faculty and staff of Liberty Middle School, Liberty High School, and Woodrow Wilson Jr. High, and the members of Calvary Baptist Church for their support that has been so unselfishly given during this difficult time. It is our prayer that God will richly bless all of you. And to all of you who lifted up Mr. Mac and his family in prayer, we thank you. Without God’s strength we could never have made it.
A memorial service will be held at Allison Funeral Home, Liberty, Texas on Saturday, June 4, at 2:00PM. Visitation with the family will begin two hours before the service. All former students attending will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Welch
Deborah S. Welch, 59, of Newark, lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. She was at home with her mother and sister.
Deborah was born on July 10, 1951, in Hagerstown, MD, but spent her youth in Andover, OH and Liberty, TX. She graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania with a degree in Business Administration.
Deborah was president of Respect, Incorporated, a consulting firm with a foundation in diversity education. She co-founded Respect in 1992, developing it from a small diversity boutique to a full business effectiveness company focused on people and their performance. Deborah started her career in Finance with Hercules Incorporated and then DuPont Company. Her tenure with DuPont as a business leader spanned 15 years, teaching her the importance of human capital and leading her to establish Respect, Incorporated.
Deborah was a member of Limestone Presbyterian Church. She was a board member and Development Chair for the Wellness Community Delaware, an organization that provides emotional and educational support for people with cancer. She also served on the board of the Delaware Theater Company. Deborah was active in the Delaware Chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management, the Forum of Executive Women Delaware and the Delaware Chapter of the Executive Women's Golf Association, serving in leadership positions for all of these organizations at various times.
A successful business woman, Deborah was conscientious, persistent, driven and totally committed to quality. She also loved life - fine food, art, golf, and traveling with her mother and dear friend, Janet. Most of all she enjoyed time spent at home with her feline companions, Purrcie and Pico and gardening in her backyard sanctuary.
Deborah is preceded in death by her father, Stanley Crawford Welch, in January 1990. She is survived by her mother, Janet Neikirk Welch, of Wilmington; sister, Les Progar and her husband, Gary, of Milford; brother, Jack Welch, and his wife, Jill, of Atlanta; nephew, Zachary Manning, of Wilmington; and many relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Limestone Presbyterian Church, 3201 Limestone Road, Wilmington, on Saturday, June 4, at 5 pm. Visitation with the family will begin at 4 pm.
