Sivils
Ollie L. Sivils, age 87, died Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Liberty.
Ollie was born in Hull, Texas December 20, 1923 the daughter of the late John Allen Hatcher and Frances Williams Hatcher. A homemaker and volunteer, Ollie will be remembered for her devoted service to the Spirit of Sharing for over twenty years. While volunteering she received on numerous occasions the volunteer of the year award. In her youth she enjoyed fishing, crocheting and was a devoted member of Dayspring Church in Liberty.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Lee Sivils, brothers Bailey, Dalton, and Weldon Hatcher, grandson Douglas Franklin “Butch” Guerrant as well as a great grandson Aydenn Jon Hendrix.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter Darlayne Guerrant of Galena Park, son Kelton H. Sivils and wife Judy of Dayton, grandsons Jack Sivils and Jay M. Hendrix. In addition she leaves five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Ollie will be held Monday December 19, 2011 from 5-8PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A funeral service will be held 10AM Tuesday December 20, 2011 at the funeral home with Rev. V.R. Hylton to officiate. Burial to immediately follow the service in Palms Memorial Park, Dayton, Texas.
Whatley
Rick Whatley, 60, of Dayton, died December 16, 2011, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton.
Rick was born February 3, 1951 in Hico, to parents; Dale Whatley and Dorothy Turner, a former resident of Colorado City and Midland, and has resided in Dayton for the past 28 years. He was a graduate of the Colorado City High School class of 1969, veteran of the US Army, a Product Coordinator for Enterprise Products of Mt. Belvieu with 28 years of employment, and member of the P.G.A. of America. He also enjoyed playing golf, taking his children and grandchildren fishing, riding motorcycles, and Friday night dinners with family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, papaw, son, brother, friend, and patriot.
Mr. Whatley was preceded in death by his father: Dale Whatley, mother: Dorothy Turner Motley, and brother: Jerry Dale Whatley. He is survived by his wife of 34 years: Joyce Orrell Whatley of Dayton, son: Ryan Whatley of Dayton, daughters: Jill Dumont and husband Chris of Dayton and Tamra Christiansen and husband Corey of San Antonio, father: Bob Motley of Colorado City, sisters: Alice Anderson of Midland and Patty Roberts of Dallas, parents-in-law: Luke and Jaurie Orrell of Ft. Worth, sister-in-law: Luanne Jay of Dayton, grandchildren: Dyllan, Lauren, Collin, Joslynn, and one on the way, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Vaclavik
Michael Anthony Vaclavik, 50, of Devers, died at his residence Wednesday, December 14, 2011.
He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved carpentry. He also loved being on the road and driving his truck. He was a softhearted Dad. He would do anything for anybody. He is preceded in death by his father, Henry William Vaclavik, Sr.; brother, Henry William Vaclavik, Jr. He is survived by his children, James Miller and wife Renee of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Justin Vaclavik of Houston, Christopher Vaclavik of Devers, Amy Vaclavik of Devers; mother, Barbara Ann Driver of Winnie; sister, Susan Casey and husband J.W. of Devers; grandson, Tanner Miller of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; his four-legged children, Roscoe and Kung Fu Kitty; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Service Monday December 19, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be Tuesday December 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty, officiated by Reverend Sebastian Myladiyil. Burial will follow at The Catholic cemetery of Liberty.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Patterson, Tyler Vaclavik, Joseph Rayon, Josh Rayon, Forrest Parrish, Jonathan DuBose, Raymond Runnels and Jason Butter. Nichols
Linda Kay Blumerick Nichols, 67, of Huffman, died Friday, December 16, 2011, at her residence.
Services will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Linda was born April 15, 1944 in Ionia, MI, to parents; Kennth and Dorthy Bishop Blumerick, a former resident of Humble, and has resided in Huffman for the past 30 years. She was a graduate of Tecumseh High School class of 1962, attained her Associate Degree in Accounting at the Davenport Business College, and a retired cafeteria worker for the Huffman ISD. She also enjoyed gun collecting, computers, quilting, and bead work.
Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 44 years: Sheldon J. Nichols of Huffman, sister: Mary Lynn Wilke of MI, brothers: Michell and Kent Blumerick of MI, nephews: Cam, Cory, and Todd Blumerick, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Paul Pete, 93, of Anahuac, died Dec. 08, 2011.

Fereday
Joyce Fereday, 61, of Anahuac, died on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America with her family by her side.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of Joyce's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.
Joyce was a nurse for over twenty years, working at Southmore Hospital and Dr. Tommy Swate. She loved shopping and being in the casino. She was known for being the party lady and her Christmas Lights.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 8 years, Thomas Fereday; mother, Jewel Burks Davis; children, Roland Fannin and wife, Theresa, James Fannin and wife, Pamela, Charles Fannin and wife, Kyung, Shannon Sanders, Todd Fereday and wife, Alyssa, Trent Fereday and wife, Medeja, Travis Fereday and wife, Veronica; numerous grandchildren; sister, Elouise Mikuleka; brothers, Gerald Davis, Thomas Davis and William Davis; and a host of other family and friends.
Grissom
Betty Jane Grissom, 67, died peacefully on December 11, 2011 after a brief battle with Leukemia.
Betty was born and raised in Silsbee before moving to Pasadena where she spent much of her life. She lived an abundant life filled with family and friends. Betty settled in Liberty this past summer to be closer to family and was surrounded by loved ones during her last months.
Betty was preceded in death by her only child, Amanda, who passed away in 1991. She is survived by her sister Esther Sonnier of Oakdale, La, sister-in-law Barbara Read and husband Bill of Liberty, nieces Johnnie Sue Short and husband Hugh of Vidor, Deena Van Pelt and husband Robert of Mauriceville, Charlotte Hudson and husband Dave of Oakdale, La, and nephews Darren Grissom and wife Sarah of Austin and Milton Short and wife Barbara of Mauriceville. “Aunt B” enjoyed spending time with a host of great-nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, December 14 at Allison Funeral Home in Liberty. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 15 at First United Methodist Church of Liberty. On Friday, December, 16 at 10:00 am, family and friends are invited to attend a burial service at Resthaven cemetery in Silsbee. Services will be officiated by Pastors Lindsey Smith of First United Methodist Church of Liberty and Kevin Brown of First Baptist Church Mauriceville.
Betty enjoyed her new life in Liberty, playing cards at the senior citizens center and listening to great music at the Liberty Opry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Liberty County Project on Aging, 2000 Panther Ln, Liberty, TX 77575.

Hughes
Walter Harold Hughes, 68, of Votaw, died Monday, December 12, 2011.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. During that time he was married
to the love of his life, Laura Smalley on February 8, 1965. He was an oilfield salesman for H & O Well Service. He was always the life of the party. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his son, Chris Hughes and his parents, Leroy and Jetta Hughes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years 10 months and 4 days, Laura Hughes of Votaw, children, Melissa and fiance James of Saratoga, Scotty and wife Amy of Votaw; grandchildren, Skylar, Marly, Shelby, Cassidy, Kaycee, Jay and Payton; brothers, Doug Hughes and wife Lessie of Thicket, David Hughes and wife Mary of Batson, Roy Hughes and wife Rhonda of Crosby, Chester Hughes and wife Sondra of Thicket, Jessie Hughes and wife Tracy of Hempstead; sisters, Judy Rulon and husband Jack of Batson, Bobbie East and husband Brian of Fort Worth, Tammy Rodgers and husband Leslie of Hull and Penny Brown and husband Kent of Batson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Randy Kyle Rose, 45, of Daisetta, died Saturday December 10, 2011.
He was a loving husband and father. He was a hard working man. He enjoyed fishing. He will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester and Ethel Crawford and Granville and Elsie Rose.
He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Regina Rose of Daisetta; children, Justin Lane of Daisetta, Andrew Lane of Daisetta and Amber Rose of Daisetta; grandson, Kaleb Lane of Daisetta; father, Kenneth Laverne Rose of Saratoga; mother, Wanda Robbins of Daisetta; brothers, Chester Caskey and wife Sheri of Daisetta, Robin Rose of Daisetta and Kelly Rose and wife Christine of Hull; half-sisters, Jessie Rose of Oklahoma and Janette Rose of Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sackett
Gloria Jean "Memaw" Sackett, age 72, died December 09, 2011
She was born the first of three children in Davis, Okla. to the late Vernon Andrew and Anita Wauls Jeffcoat on February 5th, 1939.
From Davis, Okla. to Oakland, Calif. where she graduated from High School and put two years of college behind her to Houston, TX. to Dayton, where she finally settled and made it her home for the past 42 yrs.
Memaw resided for the past 10 yrs. at Magnolia Place Nursing Home in Liberty, TX.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Vernon Leon Jeffcoat and her youngest child, Shawn Trevor Marvin.
Memaw was a giving person; she was always there to help with others and to give of herself. She loved to go fishing, go on outings with the Nursing Home and playing BINGO. But, the most enjoyment that she got out of life was her Great Grand Children.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory are daughters; Tina Davenport and Toni Valkner of Dayton. TX., and son Troy Key of Baytown, TX.

James Edward "Bubba" Crouthers, 78, of Liberty, died December 9, 2011 at his residence.
Bubba was preceded in death by his father, Edward Divick "Buddy" Crouthers, his mother, Irma Abel Crouthers, his sisters, Evelyn and Marie Crouthers, his brother, Sidney Earl Crouthers and a son, David Earl Crouthers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 12, 2011 at The Wilderness Church of God in Liberty under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow in Wilderness cemetery. A gathering of James’s family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the church.

He met his wife, Naomi at an early age at the Liberty County Fair riding a hobby horse. They were united in marriage February 17, 1951 at the age of 16 and 18 and shared a devotional loving marriage for 61 years.
He worked as a Mechanic, Truck Driver, Derrickman, Operator, Tool Pusher and Pastor. He loved hunting, fishing, mechanics and carpentry. He founded a community out of love and devotion which included the overseeing of electricity, mail, and phone and bus route.
After becoming a Pastor he founded and established The Wilderness Church of God in his community in August of 1988 and served as Pastor for approximately 20 years. He also established a non-profit cemetery to be used by family, friends and loved ones and donated the land thereof.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who had a generous heart and was always willing to reach out and extend a helping hand to whomever was in need.
He was a man of many musical talents but most favorite was his fiddle. He taught most of his children and grandchildren to play musical instruments. He leaves behind a legacy of his and affection, his reaching out helping hand, his many talents and close spiritual relationship with God to be carried on through the generations of family, friends and loved ones.
Although he will be greatly missed, his wishes to all who loved him is to not live your lives in grief but rather rejoice in knowing he is with his Lord and savior and you will one day see him again.
