Halton

Funeral Service will be held for Curtis Halton, Sr., 68, of Raywood, Texas at 11 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2012 in Wells Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Marvin Etheridge, Officiating, burial in Wells Memorial cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty.

Born to James and Pearlie Halton on March 4, 1943, he passed away at Liberty-Dayton Regional Hospital on Thursday, December 29, 2011. He was self-employed owning a tire repair shop.

Curtis is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; his parents, one sister and a brother.

He leaves to cherish his memory one son: Curtis Halton, Jr., two grandchildren: Curtis III and Dehaven, all of Raywood, nine step children; several step-grandchildren; niece: Lesle Allen, nephew Rodney Ortan; brother-in-law: Cleveland Allen, of Dallas, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.

Fanning

Nancy Gertrude Fanning, age 70, of Devers, died Tuesday January 3, 2012 in Liberty.

She was born November 25, 1941 in Lynchburg, VA, the daughter of the late James McManus and Lucy Davis McManus. A strong Christian woman, she enjoyed singing, gardening, cooking, and music. She was devoted to her family and friends and was very generous. She was direct and you always knew where you stood with Nancy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Fanning, daughters Rhonda McFarland and Nancy Fanning, sons Richard, Robert, William, and Kenneth Fanning, sisters Sarah Dixon and Francis Lehr, and her brothers Robert and Albert McManus.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters Penny Wright and Elizabeth Fanning, brothers James and George McManus, sister Elizabeth Womack, grandchildren Natisha Peterson, Brandon Wright, Alex McBride, Amy McBride, Regina Monts, Stormi Kassinger, and Jamie Bretta. In addition she leaves eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas.

Brady

Allen Ray Brady Sr., 61, of Dayton, TX, went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2011.

Allen was born to the late Sidney Brady and Mary Phillips Brady on September 28, 1950. He was baptized at an early age and attended Crosby I.S.D and Charles R.Drew. Allen was an avid truck driver who was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Harold and Rosemary Dumas, and niece Donna Brady.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: a loving wife of 40 years Rosalind Dumas Brady of Dayton, TX; 2 daughters Elexanderia Brady Graham (Brian) of Humble, TX. and Latasha Denise Brady of Dayton, TX.; son Allen Ray Brady Jr. of Baytown, TX.; 2 Grandchildren Shalanderia Trenise Arceneaux and Kehllin Damien Smith, Jr. Both of Humble, TX.; 5 Brothers; 4 Sisters and a host of relatives and friends.

A wake service will be held with on Friday January 6, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at the New Covenant of Faith MBC 204 Ridge Drive. Barrett Station, TX 77532. A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday January 7, 2012 also at the New Covenant of Faith beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. M.Keith Cooksey Pastor.

Fox

Carl Edward Fox, 70, of Crosby, died Tuesday January 3, 2012 at a Houston area hospital.

He was a hard-working man. He was dedicated to his family and adored his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Fox; parents, Walter and Mable Fox.

He is survived by his children, Betty Hatfield of Baytown, Jacqueline Hess and husband Rick of Highlands, Carla Fox of Channelview, Arron Fox and wife Cindy of Humble, James Robinson and wife Ashley of Crosby; grandchildren, Chris Hatfield and David Hatfield of Baytown, Melanie Lofton and John Lofton III and Brodie Lofton of Channelview, Ashley Crawford and husband Brandon of Frisco, TX, Michael Fox of Humble, Cha’tae Avila and Michael Avila of Humble, Noah Robinson and Joshua Robinson of Crosby; great grandchildren, Ethan Hatfield and Layla Hatfield of Baytown; siblings, Leona Polling, Jimmy Fox, Fannie Perllo, Shirley Bebout, Carlton Fox, William P. Fox, Sr.

His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel on Friday January 6, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday January 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

Serving as Pallbearers will be James Robinson, Michael Fox, Chris Hatfeild, David Hatfeild, Jr., Brodie Lofton and David Kent.

Knerr

Donna L. Ratliff Knerr, 65, of Dayton, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012, at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Donna was born November 5, 1946 in Eureka, CA, a former resident of Bellaire, and has resided in Dayton for the past 15 years. She was a high school graduate, homemaker, and attended the First Baptist Church of Dayton. She also enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, and her TV programs.

Ms. Knerr was preceded in death by her father: Harold Ratliff, mother: Virginia French, brother: Kenneth Ratliff, and sister: Becky Thomas. She is survived by her daughter: Cynthia Fencil and husband Shannon of Dayton, son: Kenneth Knerr and wife Brenda of Katy, stepmother: Carol Ratliff of FL, grandchildren: Sonya, Kayla, Jessica, Samantha, Laura, and Nathaniel, numerous brothers, sisters, other relatives, and friends.

Brown

James V. “Jim” Brown, Jr., 80, of Dayton, died Sunday, January 1, 2012, at the Houston Hospice in Houston.

Graveside services will be held at a later date under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jim was born April 22, 1931 in Wildsville, LA, to parents; James V., Sr. and Alice Richey Brown, a former resident of Ore City, and has resided in Dayton for the past 31 years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, a retired transportation manager for Five Star Transportation after 17 years of employment, and enjoyed mechanics, gardening, and carpentry.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Ruth Seyfarth Brown of Dayton, son: James V. “Jay” Brown, III and wife Kristina of FL, daughters: Stacy May of Houston, Patricia J. Anderson and husband Clay of Katy, and Linda Nichols of AZ, brothers: Charles Brown of Mt. Belvieu and Ralph Brown of LA, sister: Dorothy Thompson of LA, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family request that donations be made to the Houston Hospice in Houston or Magnolia Place Nursing Home in Liberty.

Wolf

Keith Damon Wolf, 37, of Huffman, died Thursday, December 29, 2011 in Kingwood. He was born February 17, 1974 in Dayton, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Huffman where he attended and graduated from Huffman High School. He was currently employed by A-VAC in Huffman.

Keith enjoyed cooking, listening to music and loved his children and being with his family.

Service for Keith will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 2, 2012 at Huffman Church with Rev. David Karese officiating. Interment will follow at Huffman cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Keith was preceded in death by his grandfather: Oscar F. Wolf. He is survived by his wife of 15 years: Dianna Bailey Wolf of Huffman; his sons: Aaron F. Wolf of Huffman, Zach “Ozzie” O. Wolf of Huffman, and Famen R. Wolf of Huffman; step-son: Robert Valdivia of California; his mother: Rita Wolf of Minnesota; sister: Krystal Martell of Minnesota; grandmother: Peggy Allison of Huffman; cousins: Randy Wolf, Michael Wolf, Famen F. Wolf, Jessica Patton and Lauren Wolf; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Community Bank of Huffman for Keith’s children.

Isaac

Funeral Service will be held for Martha Ann Green Isaac, 54, of Dayton, Texas at 11 AM on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Dayton, with the Reverend Dwight Pruitt, Officiating, burial in Acie cemetery, Dayton, under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty. Born to Reese McGee Green and Bernadette Wiltz Green on July 3, 1957, she died at Liberty-Dayton Regional Hospital on Thursday, December 22, 2011.

Martha Ann leaves to cherish her memory two sons: Calvin Isaac and Freeston Isaac, both of Baytown; one daughter: La’Niece Isaac of Dayton; two brothers: Joseph Carlton of Houston and Reese Green, Jr. of Dayton; four sisters: Mary Jefferson of Houston, Doris Triggs of Rosharon, Tammy Derouen and Karen Asson, both of Dayton; two grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be on Saturday at the church from 9 AM until time of service.

Smikal

Albert A. Smikal, 81, of Dayton, died with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at his residence. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow in Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. A gathering of Albert's family and friends will be from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 27th at the funeral home.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Steve Smykai, Marion Smykal, Jesse Smykal and Emil Smykal; sisters, Frances Young, Tonie Janik, Mildred Brannon, Agnes Kovis and Mary Samoheyl; daughter, Lisa Smikal; son, Roger Smikal. Albert was a retired Pipefitter. He also loved hunting.

Albert is survived by his son, James Smikal and wife, Michelle; daughters, Julie Fregia and husband, William, Ruth Sklar and husband, Alex; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Smikal and wife, Martha, Jerry Smikal and wife, Irlene; and a host of other family and friends.

Nelson

Joe Nelson Jr., 75, Smith Point, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Bayside Community Hospital in Anahuac.

He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Anahuac under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Jackson cemetery in Double Bayou with Masonic Rites. A gathering of Joe's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, December 30, 2011 at the funeral home.

Joe was a commercial fisherman and owner of Fisherman's Harvest Inc. He was a member of Smith Point Baptist Church and Anahuac Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his father, Neal Nelson; nephew, Benjamin "Bubba" Harrison.

Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Nelson; daughters, Vickie Jo Nelson Perez and husband, Alraro, Vanessa Jo Nelson Vallejo and husband, Arturro; son, Karl Wesley "Bo" Nelson and wife, Sandi; mother, Jewel Lee Nelson; sister, Necil Kelly and husband Alton; brothers, Ben H. Nelson and wife, Jeri, Eddie Nelson and wife, Emilee; grandchildren, JoLinn, Jay, Stephanie, Scooter, Tawni, Tiffany, Maeleigh, Alex, Nicolus, Dustin, Darrin, Kord; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Gilfillian

Estelle Elizabeth Barnhart Gilfillian, 95, of Batson, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011.

She was born on May 27, 1916 to parents, Johnnie Caruthers and Rita Ann Richey Caruthers. She was a good Christian woman who was active in her church. Mrs. Gilfillian was a homemaker and was devoted to her family. She was an excellent cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Gilfillian, one son, Luther D. Barnhart, three brothers, Charles Elton Caruthers, Bennie Ray Caruthers, John Luther Caruthers, five sisters, Alma Storey, Edith Riley, Jannie Whitely, Oma Lee Yarber and Edna Merle Lewis. She is survived by one sone, Joe Barnhart Jr., one daughter, Elizabeth Rebacca Parker Baez and husband Frank, two sisters, E. Doris Husband, Thelma Lois Reavis, two brothers, Willie Gene Caruthers, James Weldon Caruthers, six grandchildren, Gary, Donna, Randy, Gayle, Paula and Geraldine, eleven Great-Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, December 29, 2011 at the Calvary Tabernacle Church, Batson, Texas, from 6pm until 8pm. Funeral services will be Friday, December 30, 2011 at 2pm at the church with burial to follow in the Guedry cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575.

Nason

William Arthur Nason, age 87, of Liberty, died Monday December 26, 2011 at Liberty Health Care.

William was born in North Providence, Rhode Island August 7, 1924 the son of the late Herbert Nason and Mary Pinder Nason. Bill was a life member of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War as a member of the Nolan Pickett Post of Liberty he was a founding member of their Honor Guard. He was a veteran of WWII serving proudly in the US Navy. Bill was self employed poultry farmer in Rhode Island owning and operating Rolling Meadow Farms in Greene, R.I. He later moved to Florida and finally to Liberty, Texas in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle King Nason and a son Charles Herbert Nason.

He leaves to cherish his memory a son Robert William Nason and his wife Josephine of Plainfield, CT, daughter Patricia A. Duke and her husband James of Liberty, as well as four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11AM Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N Travis Liberty, Texas with a visitation to be held one hour prior to the service, Rev. Lindsey Smith Jr. to officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the FUMC of Liberty or to a Veteran’s Service Organization of their choice.

Youngblood

Maxine Youngblood, age 79, died peacefully on December 26, 2011, at St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls, ID.

Graveside service for Mrs. Youngblood will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Cooke cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. The family will receive friends 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

A native of Dayton, TX, Maxine spent most of her life in Liberty, TX. Maxine married her husband of 62 years, Roy E. Youngblood of Liberty, TX, in 1949. She worked alongside him to build a family business that would sustain both of them throughout their lives. She was also a wife, homemaker, and dedicated mother to three children.

Maxine enjoyed her children & grandchildren, was a fabulous cook, a Christian & life-long member of the First Assemblies of God Church, a friend to many, and enjoyed shopping.

Maxine is preceded in death by her father, Morgan E. Jackson, Sr. and her mother, Eunice Jackson, both of Liberty. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Roy E. Youngblood, currently of Twin Falls, ID; three children: Jerry Youngblood of Edmond, OK, Allen Youngblood of Liberty, TX, and Dr. Andy and Sharon (Youngblood) Keeter of Twin Falls, ID; three grandchildren: Sam & Chelan Keeter of Seattle, WA, Tommy Keeter of Fort Campbell, KY, and Will Keeter of Minneapolis, MN. Maxine is also survived by her brother Morgan E. Jackson, Jr. of Pasadena, TX.
