Robert Phineas Hill Jr, age 94, of Liberty, died on April 5, 2012 in Liberty, TX.
Robert was born April 17, 1917 in Dayton, TX son of Robert Hill Sr and Tullah Hill. Robert attended Hull-Daisetta High School and graduated in 1936. Robert then received a track scholarship from Rice University. Robert left Rice and then ran track for Southwest Texas State Teachers College. Robert was a chartered member of the U.S. Air Force where he was on active duty as a major in the Army Air Corp and then a Lieutenant Colonel in the Reserve Air Force which was later changed to the U.S. Air Force. Robert was a sports fan and a devoted Rice University fan. He loved working in the yard and was a true southern gentleman. Robert worked for Liberty County Gas Company as a manager. He was a past president in the Rotary Club, past president of the school board and a Mason.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Margielee Earnest Hill, brothers; Dick and Jack Hill. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Betty Hill of Liberty, daughter; Sharon Peebles and husband Rick of Baytown, grandchildren; Rob Peebles and wife Anna of Nashville, TN and Amy Peebles Mayo and husband Thomas of Beaumont, TX, great-grandchildren; Caroline and John Thomas Mayo, stepsons; Byron Husarik of Las Vegas, NV, Greg Husarik and wife Nancy of Valparaiso, IN and Kelly Husarik and wife Joy of Kaiohsung, Taiwan.
A memorial service will be held for Robert Phineas Hill Jr at the United Methodist Church in Hardin on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 10am.
Moorhead
Jimmie Blair Moorhead, 87, of Anahuac, died on April 4, 2012 at her residence with her family by her side.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 7th at First United Methodist Church of Anahuac under the directions of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. A gathering of Jimmie's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, April 6th at the funeral home.
Jimmie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tony Moorhead, daughter, Susan Tunze Hollomon; sisters, Jeanette Hoffpauir, Lois LaFleur. She was County Treasurer and Auditor during her 51 years of service for Chambers County.
Mrs. Moorhead is survived by her daughters, Lynn Dell Turner and husband, Leslie, Mitzi Key and husband, Buster; son, Rex Tunze and wife, Peggy; son-in-law, Gus Hollomon. Mamere was grandmother to 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request the donations be made to the Susan Hollomon Memorial or the American Cancer Society.

Larry Dale Floyd, 44, of Midland, Texas, formerly a resident of Sour Lake, died Tuesday April 3, 2012 in Midland Texas.
Larry was born July 21, 1967 to parents Johnie Floyd and Claudie Hashaw Floyd in Beaumont Texas . He had lived in Sour, Lake most of his life before moving to Midland TX, and was an Heavy Equipment Operator with K & G Rentals also in Midland Texas.
Larry is survived by his parents Johnie and Claudie Floyd of Sour Lake. Brothers John Floyd and wife Darla of Sour Lake, David Floyd and wife Angelin of Sour, Lake, Gary Floyd and wife Danette of Sour Lake. Nephews Blaine Floyd of Sour Lake, Cooper Floyd and wife Krystle of Sour Lake, , Justin Floyd of Sour Lake, Garrett Floyd of Sour Lake. Nieces Lena Floyd of Sour Lake, Kristi Floyd of Sour Lake, Laura Floyd of Sour Lake, and a host of friends and co-workers who loved and thought very much of Larry and he will be greatly missed.
A service of remembrance will be held Monday April 9, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Bill Fabriguze officiating, interment will follow at the Guedry cemetery in Batson. Bertha Couch Dyck died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the age of 98.
She was born July 14, 1913 in Randlett, Oklahoma to parents Wesley and Gertrude Couch who preceded her in death along with her husband Peter Dyck, two brothers and two sisters.
She leaves behind two daughters Esther McLendon and Thelma Heeth; grandchildren Wesley Simpson and wife Cyndi; Cynthia Barton and husband Jimmy; Mike Simpson and wife Pam; Rebecca Knoles and husband Rick; Ella Pinkerton and fiancé Jay Neutzler, Jonathan Heeth and wife Susan, Charles Heeth and wife Karen, Lisa Knapik and husband John; great-grandchildren David Heeth, Shelley Heeth, James Knapik, Stephanie Knapik, Debra Lawler, Christina Simpson-Salazar, Michelle Simpson, Brett Lane, Daniel Pinkerton, David Simpson, Billy Joe Hughes, Jennifer Simpson and Ryan Knoles; great-great-grandchildren Vincent Carswell, Bridget Lawler, Michael LaCourt, Emily LaCourt, Taylor Thompson, Joshua Cooper, Conner Holt and Christopher Borel and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harrison
Doris Dorothy Harrison, 89, of Votaw, died Tuesday April 3, 2012.
She was a member of Votaw Worship Center. She lived in the Big Thicket Area for over 35 years. She enjoyed sewing and had a passion for gardening, studying herbs and nutrition. She was fourth generation Baptist. Her ancestors established the first Baptist Church in Coryell County, Texas. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, William “Bill” Corbett and wife Mary, of Washington, Carol Ellis, of Tulsa, OK, Anita Diane Strack of Redonda Beach, CA, and Patricia Ann Misczuk and husband Bill of Pasco, Washington; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
In honor of her wishes, she will be cremated and laid to rest in Waco, TX.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Waco, TX.

Herman “Alvis” Mitchell, 72, of Dayton, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 2, 2012, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services at 2:00 p.m., Monday, at Forest Lawn cemetery in Beaumont. Alvis was born August 19, 1939 in Beaumont, to parents; Alfred Herman and Zelda Alice Scarborough Mitchell, a former resident of Friendswood, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 16 years. He was a graduate of the Beaumont High School class of 1959, attended Lamar University, was a retired electrician from Rockwell Automation of LaPorte, member and usher of the First Baptist Church of Dayton. He also enjoyed fishing, his work, working in his yard and garden, and wood working.
Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers-in-law: Mike Mitchel and Jack Hawkins. He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Peggy Epperson Mitchell of Dayton, sons: Mark Mitchell and wife Tammy of Lumberton and Jason Mitchell and wife April of Keller, daughter: Mary Alice Mitchell of Dayton, brothers: A. Janie T. Reyes, 87, our beloved Family Matriarch, died peacefully, at home with her family on March 29th, 2012. Janie was born on June 24th, 1924, in San Felipe, Guanajuato, and had lived in the US for almost 60 years.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Soledad Seman and her husband, Etienne, sons Jesse Longoria, Joseph Longoria and his wife, Anita, and Frank Longoria, along with 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, along with other family and friends.

Frieda E. Lampl, 96, of Liberty, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital in Liberty.
Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2012, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Burial services were held at Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton, Ohio. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Frieda was born January 29, 1916 in Hamilton, OH, to parents; Jonathan and Marie Hockstock Lampl, a former resident of Fairfield, OH, and has resided in the Liberty area for the past 13 years. She was a retired sales order clerk for Beckett Paper mill, a former Girl Scout leader, and member of the Gone Crazy Cook Team. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, quilting, drag racing, and cook offs.
Miss Lampl was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Andy, Carl, Mike, Herman, G.J., and Alfred Lampl, and sisters: Suzie Guertimiller, Hilda Staarmann, Marie Henry, and Anna Eisenhogel. She is survived by her niece: Barbara Reynolds, nephew: John Staarmann, and numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Sjolander
Rev. Raymond Drewis Sjolander, 95, of Huffman, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at his daughter’s home in Lake Jackson.
He was born in Cedar Bayou, Texas to John C. and Ellen Dahlquist Sjolander. He was a long time resident of Baytown and Huffman area. He served the Lord in many churches throughout Louisiana and Texas.
Services for Rev. Sjolander will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Huffman with interment to follow at Huffman cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Visitation is 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.
Rev. Sjolander was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy Mae Sjolander, four sisters, one brother, and one son, Douglas Sjolander. He is survived by his son: Jerry Sjolander of Palm Springs, CA; his daughters: Dina Colburn and husband Wayne of Houston, Judy Zavisch and husband David of Lake Jackson; and Martha Dietrick and husband Daly of Waco; daughter-in-law: Joyce Sjolander; nine grandchildren: Gary, Julie, Joy, Jeremy, Matthew, Sjerrie, Nathaniel, Rebecca, and Ethan; eight great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Gary Jr., Jay, Trey, Taryn, Samson, Richard, Sulley and John; brother: Calvin Sjolander; numerous other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Gladys W. Squires, age 104, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012.
Mrs. Squires was born September 14, 1907 in Cleveland “Tarkington Prairie”, Texas to parents Jesse T. Wright and Hallie Mathews Wright who preceded her in death along with her loving husband Howard Squires; parents Jesse T. and Hallie Wright; brother Raymond Wright; sisters Edith Mounts and Ethel Davidson; and her grandson Scott Squires.
The family moved to Cleveland from Tarkington in 1910, attending the local school through high school; attending college three years; taught school in San Felipe and Cleveland and was a substitute teacher in Houston for ten years. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 10 or 11 at First Baptist Church and was baptized in the San Jacinto River. She loved her family and church family; she had a sewing circle who had met for over 30 years. Sometimes she would create themes for gatherings making them tastier with her wonderful cooking. She was recognized for 50+ years of teaching Sunday school. The most important fact about Mrs. Squires was she walked the talk about her spirituality. Mrs. Squires quotes: “Please tell: Jesus is the only way to have Eternity in Heaven”.
She will be remembered lovingly by her son Thomas L. Squires and wife Virginia; daughter Mary E. Baldwin; grandchildren Michael Squires, Michele Squires and partner Mandy, Mac Fernandez and wife Erika, Denise Harris and husband Charles, Mike Fernandez and wife Allison; great-grandchildren Madeline, Macy, Michael, Dion, Damian, and Cooper and numerous nieces; nephews and faithful friends throughout the years.

Fannie V. Holt, 88, of Liberty, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Magnolia Place Nursing Home in Liberty.

Fannie was born December 1, 1923 in Devers and has resided in Liberty for the past 25 years. She enjoyed magazines and singing.
She is survived by her niece: Thelma Taylor of Pearland, guardian and friend: Elaine Tabors of Liberty, and numerous other family members and friends with the Tri-County MHMR.
Giles
Mark Anthony Giles of Channelview, died on March 24, 2012 in Houston, Texas. He was surrounded by family as God called him home.
Mark was born April 12, 1969 to parents Shirl and Mildred Giles in San Diego, California at the U.S Naval Hospital. He was a 1987 graduate of Channelview High School, and has resided in the Channelview area for most of his life. He enjoyed working outdoors, fishing, barbecues and was an excellent cook. He enjoyed playing soccer as a youth. He was currently employed by HRT of Houston.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Giles, and uncle, John Goetschius. He is survived by his daughter, Payton Giles, sisters, Rosemary Mozingo and Tina Goetschius, brothers, Mike and Keith Giles, brother-in-law, Raymond Mozingo, sister-in-law, Tammy Giles, nephews, Ian Goetschius, Robert Mozingo, Joshua, Christian and Austin Giles. Nieces, Serita Partin, Cheyanne, Meagan, Amber and Courtney Giles. He is also survived by great-nephews, Christopher Spillman, Timothy Don and Connor Partin, great nieces, Haley Don and Rachel Partin.
A private Memorial Service will held on March 31, 2012.

Lena Belle "Nana" Smith, 79, of Anahuac, died at Bayside Community Hospital in Anahuac with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Anahuac under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of Nana's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Nana was a native of Anahuac and the owner of Aunt Lena's Kids. She was also a member of Maranatha Church in Mont Belvieu. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.W. Smith Jr., sisters, Edna Mae Watson, Audrey Lotz, and Eva Pearl Segrest.
Nana is survived by her daughters, Ronda Smith Abshier and husband, Whalen, Shauna Lynn Smith, Dianna Casey and husband, Donny; son, Curtis Smith; brother, David Congelton and wife, Kit; grandchildren, Hollie Hanks and husband, Coy, Heath Abshier and wife, Amanda, Jerrod Smith, Shannon, Brooke, and Zach Smith, Keith Casey; great-grandchildren, Connor and Channing Hanks, Isabella, Maddox and Bentley Abshier, Parker Lewellyn; and a host of other family and friends.

Ruth Carr Barrett, long time resident of Daisetta and Smith Point, Texas was born August 3, 1926 and died March 27, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tena Abel Carr and Lorenzo Carr; her sons, Bobby Gene Barrett and Tommy Lynn Barrett; husband, Eugene E. Barrett; brothers, Levi “Bubba” Carr and Elmo E. Carr; sisters, Hazel Carr Vanya, Yettie Carr, Lillie Carr, Theo Carr Riggs and Darthula Carr Pinckard.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her loving caretakers, Tina and Leon Parker, their daughter, April DeFore and Tina’s mother, Frieda Powell.
