Knox
Deone Knox, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and loving friend died Friday, August 22, 2014 with her family by her side.
She is survived by her son, Leon Knox and wife Treva, daughter Wanda Demboske and husband Stan, and daughter Nancy Fitzwater and husband Kyle.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Keenan, Hollie, Ron, Christine, Kristi and Christopher. She is survived by her great-grandchildren, Kaegan, Kylie, Trinity, Graham and Connor.
She is preceded in death by son, Jesse, husband, Wilton, and grandson, Zachary.
She will be missed by many other close friends and family members.
A visitation with the family will be on Monday, August 25, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main St., in Anahuac.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, 204 Trinity St., with Rev. Kelly Krone and Rev. Randy Carrion officiating.
Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery.
She requests in lieu of flowers all donations to be given to the First Methodist Church of Anahuac. She also requests all those wishing to attend her services wear bright colored attire as we wish to celebrate her life.

Ethel Fay McCoy Stubbs, 78, of Dayton, died Saturday, August 23, 2014, at the Heritage Villa Nursing Home in Dayton.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Heirlawn cemetery in South Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Ethel was born December 8, 1935 in Dayton, to parents; B. R. “Shorty” and Edith Jennings McCoy, and has resided in Dayton throughout her life. She was a graduate of the Dayton High School, a former caregiver in home healthcare, and former member of the Order of Eastern Star. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, and baking.
Mrs. Stubbs was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years: George L. “Bo” Stubbs, an infant son: Baby Boy Stubbs, father: B. R. “Shorty” McCoy, mother: Edith Jennings McCoy, brothers: Earl, Ray, Ross, and Clarence McCoy, and sisters: Ruby Calloway and Mary Mitchell. She is survived by her daughter: Fay Brown and husband Sid of Dayton, sons: Roy Stubbs and wife Sarah of Hilltop Lakes, and Benny Stubbs of Dayton, sisters-in-law: Louise Vyoral of Dayton, Lavinia Dillard of Dayton, and Pearl McCoy of Kountze, grandchildren: Tiffany and husband Tim, Brian and fiancé Brooke, Aaron, Megan, Nathan and wife Beverly, and Ashley and fiancé Joe, great-grandchildren: Shaylee, Katie, Bryce, Carson, Nikolas, Braedan, and one on the way, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Roy
Gerald W. "Shorty" Roy, 88, of Wallisville died Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side.
He was a loving husband, daddy, pawpaw, great-grandpa and friend.
Gerald was born January 24, 1926 in Nacogdoches and has resided in the Wallisville area since the 1950. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Chambers County and retired after 27 years of service. After retiring, he dedicated his time to family, gardening and taking care of his animals. He was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ, Liberty, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma M. Roy; parents, George W. and Myrtie Ballow Roy; sisters, Pauline, Gladys, Earline, Evelyn, Inez, and Wilma.
He is survived by his daughter, Lucille Sherman and husband Bill; sons, Butch Roy and wife Marie, and Mike Roy and Reva; grandchildren, Shawn Knight and husband, Tony, Michal Gaudet and husband Dustin, Nick Foreman and wife, Kristian, Amos Roy and wife, Kayla, Sarah Johnston and husband, Jeremy and Josh Roy; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Callie, Ally, Trace, Caleb, Jace, Lexi, Slade, Sylas, Camren and a host of other family and friends.
A visitation with the family will be on Saturday, August 23, 2014, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main in Anahuac, with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Don Prather officiating.
Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nick Foreman, Amos Roy, Josh Roy, Tanner Cervenka, Eugene Langford, and Curtis Vaughn.
Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Deborah Byerley West, 60, of Dayton, died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 21, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Deborah was born December 23, 1953 in Dayton, to parents; John S. Byerley, Jr. and Bonnie Williams Byerley, a former resident of Cleveland, and has resided in Dayton for the past eight years. She was a graduate of the Lafayette High school class of 1972 and retired from Aldine ISD Child Nutrition Services.
Mrs. West was preceded in death by her father: John S. Byerley, Jr., brother: John Curtis Byerley, paternal grandparents: John S. Byerley, Sr. and Valverdie Byerley, and maternal grandparents; James E. Williams and Ellene Williams. She is survived by her mother: Bonnie Byerley of Dayton, sister: Linda Byerley of Dayton, brother: Don Byerley and wife Karen of Broussard, Louisiana, son: Travis West of Cleveland, stepsons: Justin West and wife Alyssia of Cypress and Houston West and wife Sandy of Cleveland, step grandchildren: Katelyn, Madison, Dawson, and Leanne West of Cypress, and a beautiful legacy of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Jessie Robert Gaskins, Sr., 81, of Dayton, died Monday, August 18, 2014, in Baytown.

Jessie was born August 8, 1933 in Smackover, Arkansas, to parents; Robert E. Gaskins and Donnie I. Golden, a former resident of Channelview, and has resided in Dayton for the past 37 years. He was a veteran of the US Army with service during Korea and a retired pipefitter from Brown and Root. He also enjoyed fishing, wood working, gardening, and will be remembered as a jack of all trades.
Mr. Gaskins was preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy E. Curry Gaskins, daughter: Ginger G. Gaskins Ramsey, son: J. Robert Gaskins, Jr., father: Robert E. Gaskins, mother: Donnie I. Golden Verden, stepfather: Ollie Verden, and sister: Virginia McCoy. He is survived by his daughters: Janet Gaskins Beacham and husband Randy of Baytown and Sissy Gaskins Stanley of Highlands, brother: Gene Gaskins and wife Rosemary of Channelview and Lee Verden of Plantersville, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Pugh
Margrette Olga Pugh, age 85 of Liberty, died August 18, 2014 in Liberty, TX.
Margrette was born July 12, 1929 in Liberty, TX, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Zagar Osbolt. Margrette started working for 1st Liberty National Bank after school and worked for over forty years before retiring as a Senior Vice-President and Cashier. She was a member of the Altar Society at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church as well as the Liberty Chamber of Commerce. Margrette was also on the Board of Directors at the bank. She loved to work on crossword puzzles and her favorite time of the year was Christmas. Margrette was known for her Christmas snow village which grew every year that contained hundreds of houses and buildings which made up her famous collection. She will be missed by all.
Margrette was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Alonzo Pugh, daughter; Teresa Vanderhider and her husband Gerald, brothers; Joe Osbolt, Frank Osbolt, Edward Osbolt, Valentine Osbolt, Antone Osbolt, Stephen Osbolt, sisters; Francis Million, Pauline Loggins, and Rose Osbolt. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son; Mike Pugh of Liberty, sister; Mary Ripkowski, grand-daughters; Kemberlee Pugh of Houston, Kristee Masters and husband Tay of Spring and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Margrette Olga Pugh will be Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 411 Milam, Liberty with Father Sebastian Myladiyil officiating. Burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.
Weston
Memorial services for Rita Kaye Carroll Weston, 67, of Whitehouse, were held on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church in Tyler with Dr. Stuart Baskin officiating. Arrangements are with Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Weston died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in Whitehouse.
She was born November 22, 1946 in Gadsden, Alabama to Lester and Ruby Cothran.
She had resided in Liberty County for many years and was the owner of The Party Shop on Main St.
Rita was a member of the Venetian Ballroom and the Crystal Ballroom Dance Clubs. She was a volunteer at Trinity Mother Frances and was a member of TASCA. Rita loved traveling to the warmer climates where she could feel “a little sand between her toes”. She was a beautiful lady that loved her family dearly.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Weston was preceded in death by a sister, Charles Cothran.
She is survived by his loving family including her husband of four years, Gilbert Weston of Whitehouse; daughter, Nickie Pylant and husband Bobby of Southside, Alabama and grandchildren, Cody and Kaleigh Pylant.

Busby
Richard O. “Dick” Busby II, age 79 of Liberty, died in Beaumont, TX on August 16, 2014.
Richard was born September 30, 1934 in Hull-Daisetta, son of the late Richard Oliver and Christine Busby. Dick attended the University of Texas for two years and then finished at Lamar University earning his engineering degree. He served in the U.S. Army. Dick owned and operated Dayton Pipe Co. and Busby Maintenance and Construction Co. since 1946. He served as a Senior and Junior Warden for St. Stephen’s as well as a Sunday School teacher and on the vestry. He served on the Texas Association of Business (TAB) Board and was the 1 chairman of the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB). Dick has been the President, Vice President, and the Sec/Treasurer of the Liberty Dayton Chamber of Commerce and was honored in 1984 as the “Man of the Year” by the Chamber. Dick also served on the Board of Directors of the First Liberty National Bank. He was chairman of Liberty-Dayton Area Managers Association from 1980 to 1981, vice president of Liberty County Industrial Commission, chairman of Liberty County Building Commission and was on the board of directors for the Magna Charta in American Foundation. Dick loved anything to do with the outdoors, including fishing, hunting and golfing. He was an avid reader of the Bible and loved watching football, especially his Texas Longhorns. But he mostly loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Gary Busby. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of fifty years; Velma Busby of Liberty, sons; Dale Hill and wife Karen of Galveston, TX, Lee Hill and wife Teresa of Liberty, Steve Hill of Liberty, Mike Hill and wife Dawn of Angleton, TX, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
