Ed Voygle Killion
Services for Edd Voygle Killion, 81, of Palestine will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Jim Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Killion died Thursday morning at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
He was born April 3, 1921 in Anderson County to Homer and Silla Langston Killion.
Mr. Killion graduated from Slocum High School in 1937. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad in April 1985 with 30 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Navy 1939 to 1945 in the South Pacific. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Mr. Killion was a Merchant Marine from 1946 to 1951 and was a second engineer.
Mr. Killion was a rancher from 1951 until the present. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907. He was a member of the Fields Chapel Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clyne “Buck” Killion; and nephew, Tim Killion.
Mr. Killion is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Killion of Palestine; daughters, Tami Killion and Tina Bartz and husband Bob of Palestine; sisters, Dot Hinson of Palestine and Aman Walling of Tyler; brother, Hi “Pont” Killion of Palestine; grandchildren, Torian Jaubert of Euless and Kaylyn Bartz of Jacksonville; great-grandson, Jeremy Battle Jr. of Jacksonville
Pallbearers will be Smokey Killion, Chip Satterwhite, Mike Walling, David Killion, Bob Jones, Roger Jones and David Gravitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Lasiter, Roger Main, David Gibson, Larry Miller, Sam Woody and the men of Fields Chapel Methodist Church.
Condolence calls will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Earnestine Ester Griffin
Services for Earnestine Ester Griffin, 68, of Houston, and formerly of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Emanuel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Palestine.
Mrs. Griffin died Sunday in Houston.
Forrest Elton Birdow
Services for Forrest Elton Birdow, 47, of Tennessee Colony, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church in Tennessee Colony. Burial will follow at New Hope No. 1 Cemetery in Tennessee Colony.
Mr. Birdow died Monday in Palestine.
Johnny P. Rodger
Services for Johnny P. Rodger of Crockett will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Grace Temple New Testament Holiness Church of Crockett. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
Mr. Rodger died Sunday morning.
Vivian Lewis
Services for Vivian Lewis, 67, of Grapeland, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Crockett under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home, Crockett.
Mrs. Lewis died March 22 in Elkhart.
W.D. McCoy Edwards
Funeral arrangements for W.D. McCoy Edwards, 68, of Tennessee Colony, died Thursday in Dallas.
Mr. Edwards was born Nov. 2, 1932, in Harleton to L.D. and Octavia Edwards.
He attended Booker T. Washington High School, Arlington State College, El Centro College and Southwestern Technical Institute. He worked for Ruberoid as a machinist; Johnson & Johnson as a safety engineer; Texas Department of Corrections as a welding instructor and industrial supervisor; and Blue Bell Ice Cream as a distributor. He was a corporal in the Korean conflict and earned bronze and silver medals for bravery. He was a member of Salt Works Road Church of Christ.
Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Harrison Edwards; children, Roddey Edwards and Wendell Edwards; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two godchildren.
Lou Morman
Services for Lou Morman, 54, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Benny Burlison and the Rev. Jeff Russell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Morman died Tuesday afternoon at her residence.
She was born Oct. 6, 1947, in Oakwood to Ben and Roxie Johnston Boykin.
Mrs. Morman was a food manager for Ramada Inn. She was a member of Trinity Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jenifer Christine Stephens; grandchildren, Brianna Stephens and Dustin Parks; and brother, Elmer Boykin.
Mrs. Morman is survived by daughters, Denise Onopko of Dallas and Shelly Morman Parks of Palestine; stepdaughter, Leslie Morman of Buffalo; sons, Tony Russell and Jason Stephens, both of Palestine; stepson, Jay Morman of Buffalo; sister, Bertha Graham of Palestine; brother, A.J. Boykin of Washington; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Grimes, Paul Dean, Joey McEvoy, Jason Pryor, Brad Socia, Billy Ballard Sr. and Pete Onopko.

Jesse Burnett Shepherd Sr.
Services for Jesse Burnett Shepherd Sr., 85, of Grapeland, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Grapeland. Burial will follow in the Shepherd family cemetery in Grapeland under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home, Crockett.
Mr. Burnett was born Dec. 18, 1916 in Grapeland to H.W.L. and Mary A. Warfield Shepherd.
He attended and received his degree from Daily Community School. He furthered his education at Mary Allen College and Prairie View A&M. He was a self-employed farmer and rancher.
Mr. Burnett was a member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Grapeland where he was an ordained deacon. He was a member of the Gloryland Singers and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was married three times, to Juanita Turner, Annie Mae Dickerson and Thelma Thompson.
Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by siblings, Joe Houston, Cartelyou Shepherd, Haynes Shepherd, Albert Shepherd, Ben Shepherd, Rosetta Dickson, Jennie Wagner, Eva Daily and Sarah Shepherd.
He is survived by sons, Jessie Shepherd and Javon Shepherd, both of Houston, Freddie Shepherd of Huntsville, Lonnie Shepherd and Phillip Shepherd, both of Toledo, Ohio, Thaddeus Shepherd of Gilbert, Ariz.; daughters, Hazel Thorpe of Missouri City, Sandra Warfield of Palestine, Rosie Shepherd of Huntsville, and Burnadine McGee, Elizabeth Shepherd and Vernell Whitmill, all of Chandler, Ariz.; brothers, Samuel Shepherd of Houston, the Rev. T.J. Shepherd of Crockett; sisters, Jessie M. Wise of Ocala, Fla., and Alice G. Shepherd of Grapeland; 27 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A wake will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Joy Baby Douglas Ingram
Services for Joy Baby Douglas Ingram, 68, of Fort Worth, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Fort Worth with Dr. C.C. McNealy officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Arlington.
She died Sunday.
Mrs. Ingram grew up in Tennessee Colony. She graduated from Massey Lake High School. She was first lady of ministry at Old Bethel in Palestine for five years and for 32 years at First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Cleburne. She was president of the Cleburne Interdenominational Ministers Wives for 10 years and a member of Lake Como Ministers Wives.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edward Ingram of Fort Worth; daughters, Cynthia Walker and Angela Christian; brother, Joe Louis Douglas of Houston; sisters, Opal Bruce of Houston, Gladys Shed and Wanda Holland, both of Fort Worth, and Beatrice Brown-Archie of Palestine; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Veronica Chapter of Gregory W. Spencer Funeral Directors and from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Cleburne.
Gertrude Lee
Services for Gertrude Lee, 89, of Buffalo, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Buffalo Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Middlebrook officiating. Burial will be in Lummus Cemetery in Buffalo.
Mrs. Lee died Monday at the Buffalo Nursing Home.
She was born April 28, 1913 in Silsbee to Wiley and Amanda Purvis Pitts.
Mrs. Lee lived in the Flo community for 25 years assisting her husband with a cattle ranch. She had lived in Buffalo for the past four years. She and her husband were charter members of Chapter 2870 of AARP in Buffalo. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Lee, in July 2001.
Mrs. Lee is survived by a daughter, Mildred Rayborn of Buffalo; son, Chester Brown of Citrus Heights, Calif.; stepson, Paul Jacobs of Houston; sister, Clemmie Petitt of Buffalo; 14 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today with the family present beginning at 6 p.m.
Alberta Alford Ford
Services for Alberta Alford Ford, 96, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Waymon Chapel AME Church with burial to follow in Bethel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home in Teague.
Mrs. Ford died Wednesday in Hobbs, N.M.
She was born June 7, 1906 in Freestone County to Major Alford and Lela Shoemake Alford.
Mrs. Ford was a member of Waymon Chapel AME Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Ford Sr.
Mrs. Ford is survived by sons, Fisher A. Ford of Dallas, Earnest Ford Jr. of Albequerque, N.M. and Edward Ford of Fort Worth; daughters, Nettie Jones of Fort Worth and Ethelene Hutchings of Hobbs N.M.; 15 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Jasper Newton Carr
Services for Jasper Newton Carr, 81, of Palestine, will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Muse Baptist Church.
Mr. Carr died Monday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 8, 1921 in Oklahoma City, Okla. to George and Lizzie Carr.
Mr. Carr was a farmer and rancher. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Carr of Palestine; and a daughter, Sarah Carr of Palestine.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Norma Munsinger
Services for Norma Jean Munsinger, 57, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Liberty Cemetery near Bradford with the Rev. Mike Drinkard officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mrs. Munsinger died Sunday at her home.
She was born Oct. 27, 1945 in Quanah, to Audie Joe and Myrtie Mae Holcomb Perry.
Mrs. Munsinger lived in Palestine most of her life. She was a 1964 graduate of Palestine High School. She was a member of Bois D’Arc Baptist Church.
Mrs. Munsinger worked as a nurse for Palestine Healthcare Center for 32 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, James Perry, Horton Perry and Bruce Perry.
Mrs. Munsinger is survived by daughters, Melinda Munsinger of Palestine and Melanie Hamby of Elkhart; brothers, A.J. Perry Jr. of Deridder, La., Dan Perry of Woodville and Bill Perry of Palestine; sisters, Madge Woods of Karnack, Mickey Dean of Palestine and Marsha Curry of Bossier City, La.; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jason Perry, Tim Perry, Ricky Smith, David Giles, Billy Wier, Tommy Upton, Joe Curry and John Upton.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Elizabeth Barber
Services for Elizabeth Barber, 94, of Fairfield, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Blair Stubbs Chapel in Teague.
Mrs. Barber died Monday in Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.J. Barber.
Florence Miller
Services for Florence Miller, 86, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Chapel of the Air at Land of Memory Cemetery with Dr. Jeff Cover officiating.
Mrs. Miller died Monday at Cartmell Home for the Aged.
She was born Aug. 11, 1916, in Rosebud to John Carlton Taylor and Ethel McIntosh Taylor. She had lived in Palestine most of her life. She was a Baptist and a housewife.
Mrs. Miller is survived by sons, Larry Miller of Palestine and Clifton Miller of Halletsville; daughters, Sandra Kelly, Cynthia Akin and Cecilia Webb, all of Palestine; brother, Cecil Taylor of Palestine; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mark Miller, Michael Miller, Chad Hardgrave, Charles Akin Jr., Wesley Akin and Kevin Morris.
