His Mother, Ora Drake Miller, died when he was two years old. Mahala Ann Gage was his Grandmother, Mother of Ora Drake Miller. Buck’s father, Clyde Gordon Miller, attended the Kansas City School of Law and received his law degree & license to practice in 1908, but never practiced law. He moved to Texas in 1908 and worked for the Frisco Railroad all his adult life. While a young lad, Buck C. worked as a paperboy for the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Later Buck C. was a delivery boy for the Renfro Drug Corporation in Fort Worth. Graduating from high school in 1935, Buck and Grandville Poole, his brother-in-law, opened a cleaning and pressing business in Fort Worth. Buck C. attended T.C.U. from 1937-1939 where he did his Pre Law work. Buck C. left Fort Worth in June to enter the University of Texas School of Law at Austin. When arriving in Austin, Buck C. went to the Dean and asked for a job. Since Buck C. had all A’s and one B, the Dean told Buck C. to go to the Law Library and go to work. He earned thirty cents an hour. In Law School, Buck C. studied from daylight to dark and then to midnight. Buck C. Miller graduated from Law School in 1942, receiving his LLB degree and his license to practice Law the same year. He entered the Military Service April 10, 1942 and served four years, being discharged as a Lieutenant in the Military Police and also served as judge advocate in Tacoma, WA. On August 7, 1943, he met Raymonde Calmette at a dance for the Military in the Civic Center, San Francisco, California. That meeting blossomed into a romance that has lasted sixty-three and a half years and the romance was still going strong to the day of his death. They were married
December 26, 1943. They had and still have four children, Francis Miller, Carolyn Denton, Martin Miller and Paul Miller and nine Grandchildren. After the war, he and Raymonde came to Houston and Buck C. worked for Percy Foreman in 1946, then he engaged in private practice of law, becoming associated with King Haynie (a well known Criminal Appellate Lawyer who retired in 1949). Buck C. then became associated with Dan Brown, an Attorney in the Scanlan Bldg. in 1950. In 1953, Buck C. became associated with Philip Shafer, Attorney at Law. No person ever had better in-laws than Buck C. Miller. They don’t make better human beings than Gaston and Rosa Calmette. He loved them both. Buck C. was happy that he had the opportunity to serve his Country, the United States of America. Buck C. was thankful that the United States of America gave him the opportunity to become a lawyer and engage in the practice of Law, which he enjoyed immensely. He was raised in Houston and Galveston, where he met the love of his life, Betty Joyce Mashburn or "Joyce-Lynn" as he liked to call her. They were married

He returned and began a career in refrigeration and air conditioning eventually starting his own business at the age of thirty. At age sixty he successfully transitioned into the oil business which thrived until the onset of his disease. Buddy never met a stranger and whether it was golf, tennis, Boy Scouts, AA, Sunday school or the oil business, he brought joy and life to all he encountered. His real-life relationship with Jesus Christ allowed him to preach his own gospel truth of "every day's a holiday and every night is Saturday night!" We know that he and Joyce are on a "holiday" like we cannot imagine and that he can finally add that eraser he's always wanted to his golf-scoring pencil. We love our Buddy! A memorial service will be held at the Memorial Church of Christ, 900 Echo Lane, Houston, TX 77024 on Monday at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the church to assist the family of eighteen-month-old Malachi Schaefer in his ongoing battle with leukemia.

She met Keith Paul at UT in 1950 and married
