Michele H. Godfrey
On Friday, November 21, 2008, early in the morning, Michele Harrison Godfrey, our loving mother and wife to our father, passed away from a massive heart attack. This came very suddenly to us, she never expressed that she was living with any pain, for she had a very high tolerance of it.
Born in Montclair, NJ February 21, 1949, Michele grew up in North Caldwell, NJ on the same block as the rest of her extended family. Her father, Donald, was a mechanical engineer while her mother, Yvonne, was a local sculptor and painter. Michele is survived by her older brother Steven, husband Corey, and children Forest and Celeste. She studied theater and acting in New York City, attended the University of Utah when she was in her 40’s and graduated Suma and Magna Cum laude in both English and Anthropology. Michele lived in New Jersey, South Carolina, Arizona, and San Francisco, California where she had numerous adventures and starred in and directed many Theatrical Plays. When she became pregnant with her son, Forest, she moved back to New Jersey to live with her mother in a small town called Tuckerton, located in Ocean County; this small town was where she gave birth to both children at home. Michele was a single mother for 7 years until she met her husband while working for a Membership Camp Ground Resort selling memberships, they both recalled it as 'Love at First Sight' for once they went on their first date, Corey spent the night and never left. They were together for 2 years and then married
in a Methodist Church. After her mother passed away, she moved our family to Salt Lake City, Utah where she raised her children. A few short months ago, she moved to Houston, Texas where her son Forest had been living.
Michele will be remembered for her passion for life, kindness, selflessness, and the positive energy that she brought into everyone's lives. She was a Gypsy and a Hippie at heart; Michele loved the arts and listened to classical music everyday. We miss her very much for she was the one that kept us all organized; she was the glue that kept us and will keep us all together. We will be having a visitation on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, 6-9 PM in the Chapel of Miller Funeral Services. We will continue celebrating Michele’s life on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 2pm that will be hosted at family friend Dr. Carl Meisner’s home. Please call family for directions.
Michele Harrison Godfrey- we love and miss you dearly and we know you will be with us everyday for the rest of our lives. We will honor your life everyday and we will make you proud. xoxoxo...
