Nikki Curtis Bowman
Services for Nikki Curtis Bowman, 2, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Muse Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Donald Dwayne Moore and Danny Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Muse Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
The toddler died Friday at Texas Children’s Hospital.
She was born Oct. 20, 1999, in Fort Worth.
Nikki is survived by her mother, Gwendolyn Michelle Bowman of Philadelphia, Pa.; grandparents, Larry and Verna Bowman of Palestine; great-grandparents, Pete Bowman of Grapeland and Ellis and Louis Tindall of Nacogdoches; and brothers, Matthew Bowman and Christopher Hamby.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Jones, Steven Robertson, David Taylor and Adam Graser.

Nicole C. Thorsen
Services for Nicole C. Thorsen, 36, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mike Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Miss Thorsen died Monday in Palestine.
She was born Dec. 25, 1965 in Arlington to Tom Thorsen and Barbara Ann Rienard.
Miss Thorsen was employed with the Texas Workforce Commission. She graduated Cum Laude from Texas A&M University.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Miss Thorsen is survived by her father and stepmother, Tom and Jan Thorsen of Palestine; grandparents, Thorvald and Ruthe Thorsen of Palestine; sisters, Alexandra Thorsen of Palestine, Brandi Smith and Paddi Farmer, both of Arlington; and brother, Justin Griffith of College Station.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Edwards, Terry Thorsen, Justin Griffith, Tot Luten, Danny Rodriguez and Ray Britton.

Maggie E. Ellis
Services for Maggie E. Ellis, 84, of Elkhart, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Elkhart Church of Christ with Perry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Parker Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Ellis died Monday at Greenbrier Nursing Home.
She was born June 11, 1917 in San Augustine to John and Myrtis Roberts Bagwell.
Mrs. Ellis was a homemaker and a member of the Elkhart Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Ellis, in 1986; and a son, Harold Ellis, in 1991.
Mrs. Ellis is survived by a daughter, Mary Killgo of Palestine; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Ellis, Edwin Ellis, Don Burke, Charles Wilbanks, Toodler Rials and Jerry Woody.

Marie K. West
Services for Marie K. West, 97, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park.
Mrs. West died Tuesday morning at Carmell Home for the Aged.
She was born Dec. 11, 1904 in Shawnee, Okla. to Charles H. and Lennie Lee Howard Kirchenbauer.
Mrs. West was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She had resided in Anderson County since 1920.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. West, in 1962; a son, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
Mrs. West is survived by daughters, Edith Deeman and Gloria Dyer, both of Palestine, a son, Daniel West of Rusk; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.

Ada Mae Brown
Services for Ada Mae Brown, 72, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hilliard Funeral Chapel in Van, with Robert Brown and Leonard Brown officiating. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown died Monday at a Palestine hospital.
She was born Aug. 11, 1928 in Kopperl.
Mrs. Brown had lived in Palestine since 1974. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles David Brown, in 2001.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, J.D. “Jack” Brown of Palestine; a son, Kenneth Brown of Arlington; a daughter, Delores Brown of Conroe; a brother, Leonard Bush of Fort Worth; sisters, Wynona Hendrix and Mildred Bridges, both of Burleson, and Laura Eaton of Mansfield; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ernest Eastman Bice
Services for Ernest Eastman Bice, 83, of Elkhart, were at 11 a.m. today at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart with the Rev. Barney Walker officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Bice died Sunday in Palestine.
He was born June 21, 1918, in Healdton, Okla. to Robert Lee and Lula Hart Bice.
Mr. Bice had lived many years in Arizona before moving to Anderson County 30 years ago. He was a retired supervisor with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was a former commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Arizona. He also helped organize a fraternal Order of the Eagles organization, and was a 32nd degree Mason in Denver, Colo.
Mr. Bice served in the U.S. Army during World War II serving in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters receiving three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel Nee Bice Cannon.
Mr. Bice is survived by his wife, Gladys Bice of Elkhart; sons, Ernie Bice and Craig Bice, both of Elkhart, and George Bice of Haughton, La.; daughter, Shirley Bice Farrow of Tucumcari, N.M.; brother, Leo Bice of San Simon, Ariz.; sister, Abbie Nee Herrell of Purcell, Okla.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Abram died Monday at the University of Texas Health Center in Tyler.
J.G. “Griff” Hamilton
Services for J.G. “Griff” Hamilton, 56, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Crockett Road Church of Christ with Dan Manuel officiating. A graveside service with full military honors accorded by Barksdale Air Force Base will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Green Oak Cemetery in Kinder, La. with Jack Creel Jr. officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Hamilton died Monday in Bossier Parish, La.
He was born Feb. 6, 1946, in Kinder to Edward Pierre Hamilton and Evelyn Della Johnson Hamilton.
Mr. Hamilton was the previous owner of Tri-State Measurement. He was a graduate of Kinder High School in 1964 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1968 and was currently on active duty as a Senior Master Sergeant.
He was a member of Crockett Road Church of Christ. He was associated with the Palestine YMCA youth from 1981 to 1986. He served on the Westwood ISD Board of Trustees from 1986 to 1994 and again from August of 1998 through April of 1999 as board president.
Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Hamilton of Palestine; daughter, Lisa Gailey of Memphis, Tenn.; son, John Hamilton II of Palestine; sisters, Dot Guillory of Kinder and Pat Martin of Lake Charles, La.; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Herrington, Charles McCullough, John Hill, Lloyd Kelsey, Dick Swift and Phil Fletcher.

C.H. “Slick” Wilson
Services for C.H. “Slick” Wilson, 82, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Parker Cemetery with the Rev. Howard Huhn officiating. Funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 2:15 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Wilson died Monday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 29, 1919, in the Denson Springs community.
Mr. Wilson was a deputy sheriff of Anderson County from 1960 to 1972 and a rancher. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Herod Wilson; daughter, Joy Tapp; and brother, Theron Wilson.
Mr. Wilson is survived by daughters, Marlane Gaines of Palestine and Barbara Estes of Corpus Christi; sister, Lillian Mathison of Palestine; brother, Madrile Wilson of Austin; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Pontello, Stewart Gaines, Bill McCune, Larry Mathison and Jared Gaines.

Carl William “Dude” Thompson
Services for Carl William “Dude” Thompson, 77, were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Malakoff Cemetery with the Rev. Calvin Guston officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Mr. Thompson died Sunday in Athens.
He is survived locally by daughter, Vickie Hutcherson of Palestine; and sister, Geneva Mitchell of Palestine.
Paul B. Cravey
Services for Paul B. Cravey, 79, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. June 15 at the East Texas Arboretum in Athens. Burial will be under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory of Palestine.
Mr. Cravey died Monday at his residence.
He was born Jan. 25, 1923, in Brownsboro to Howard and Ruth Curry Cravey.
Mr. Cravey was a graduate of Humble High School in Houston and the University of Houston.
He had lived in Palestine for the past 14 years. He was a Christian.
Mr. Cravey was retired acting director of Tenneco Oil Co. and a founding member of the East Texas Arboretum Society in Athens. He was a contributing writer to the writing guild of the Palestine Senior Citizens Center. He was a former member of the Pasadena Rotary Club and a former city alderman and first elected mayor of Seabrook.
He was a carrier-based fighter pilot with the U.S. Navy in World War II. He retired from the Naval Reserve with 20 years service. He also was in the Pacific theater in WWII.
Mr. Cravey is survived by his wife, Jean Cravey of Palestine; sons, Mike Cravey of Marble Falls, Paul Cravey of Houston and Donald Cravey of Seabrook; stepson, Eric Deahmer of Brenham; daughter, Laurel Lee Osborne of Fairfield, Iowa; stepdaughters, Jana Stakes of Brenham and Monet Tibbits of Houston; brother, Seaborn Cravey of Crystal Beach; sisters, Carole Ann Butter of Fayetteville, Ark. and Nancy Hulse of Kerrville.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
