Steven Glenn Grimes
Services for Steven Glenn Grimes, 43, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with Dr. Dan Gold officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Grimes died Wednesday at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield.
He was born May 31, 1958, in Dallas to Raymond and Lila Grimes.
Mr. Grimes was reared in Northeast Texas and had lived in Palestine for 14 months. He was employed with Patterson Drilling Company. He was a Christian.
He is survived by his father, Raymond Grimes of Texarkana; mother and stepfather, Lila and Wayne Thomas of Maud; wife, Barbara L. Grimes of Palestine; sons, Joshua Grimes of Bloomburg and Andy Grimes of Arkansas; stepsons, Ricky Grimes of Arkansas, Robert Gomez of Palestine and David Gomez of Gladewater; daughters, April Grimes of Texarkana and Jessica Grimes of Arkansas; stepdaughters, Jennifer Thorpe of Gilmer and Amanda Gomez of Palestine; brothers, Paul Grimes, Chance Grimes and Byron Grimes; sister, Connie; and 16 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Gomez, Robert Gomez, Charles Blackley and Bill Thorpe.
Honorary pallbearer will be Rodney Fisher.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
J.W. Huddleston
Services for J.W. Huddleston, 87, of Elkhart, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Elkhart with the Rev. Howard Huhn officiating. Burial will follow at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Huddleston died Tuesday at Spring Season of Elkhart.
He was born Sept. 7, 1914, in the Alderbranch community to Cliff M. and Fannie Gossett Huddleston.
Mr. Huddleston had lived in Anderson County most of his life. He was retired and had worked for many years at the Exxon Service Station on the corner of Mallard and Palestine Avenue.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elkhart and served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Mr. Huddleston was preceded in death by a son, Jim Huddleston in 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Huddleston of Elkhart; son, Rodney Huddleston of Fort Worth; brothers, Dr. John Huddleston of San Antonio and Cliff Huddleston of Ruston, La.; sister, Hazel Wesson of Tyler; two granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Broadway, Jerome Broadway, A.L. Huddleston, Philamon Huddleston, Raymond Hogan, Wayne Moore and Morris Howland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Alan Howard Dean
Services for Alan Howard Dean, 70, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Zacharias Kunnakkattuthara officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
A rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Dean died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 2, 1932, in Syracuse, N.Y. to Howard and Freida Burgess Dean.
Mr. Dean was reared in the Northeast and in Nova Scotia. He had lived in Palestine since 1999, coming from Crystal Beach. He was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire. He retired in Los Angeles from hotel administration. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He was a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by son, Tommy Dean.
Mr. Dean is survived by his wife, Effie Dean of Palestine; sons, Howard Dean of Houston and Michael Dean of Austin; daughters, Judy Reimert of Plantersville and Dr. Sandra Shriner of San Antonio; sister, Rita Hayes of Saco, Maine; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Howard Dean, Michael Dean, Alan Dean, Jason Dean, David Giles, David Shriner and Randy Reimert.
Visitation will be this evening following the rosary at the funeral home.
Hannah Grace McFall
Services for infant Hannah Grace McFall of Harker Heights were at 3 p.m. today at San Pedro Cemetery with Stacy Jackson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
The infant was stillborn Monday at Darnell Community Hospital in Fort Hood.
She is survived by parents, Patrick and Christine Smith McFall of Harker Heights; grandparents, Ben and Bonnie McFall of Coral Springs, Fla., Susan and Robert Garamella of Old Hickory, Tenn., Linda and Kevin Strathdee of Euless, and Randy and Kathleen Smith of Grapeland; and great-grandparents, Eddie and Maria Grounds of Grapeland and Calvin and Joyce Smith of Huntsville.
Maurene Gillette Ward
Services for Maurene Gillette Ward, 82, of Palestine, and formerly of Fort Worth, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Handley Baptist Church in Fort Worth with the Revs. Jonathan Curtis and Doug Harrell officiating.
Mrs. Ward died Monday at Greenbriar Nursing and Rehab Center in Palestine.
She was born April 16, 1920, in Childress to John and Lois Ward.
Mrs. Ward is survived by her husband, Frank Clark, formerly of Fort Worth; son, Mike Clark of Kingsland; daughters, Suzette Murray of Palestine and Kimberly Clark of Arlington; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Nora Lee Bell Smith
Services for Nora Lee Bell Smith, 84, of Fairfield will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield with Bo Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith died Monday at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield.
She was born Feb. 2, 1918 in Freestone County to Robert Richard Smart and Mary Elizabeth Smart.
Mrs. Smith belonged to the Assembly of God Church and was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Smith; and two daughters, Billie Dean Fisher and Winona Ann Smith.
Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Gerrell Darlene Toland of Amelia, Ohio; son Roy Kenneth Smith of Independence, Mo.; brother, Pete Smart of Tyler; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Raymond Jeffcoat
Services for Raymond Lee Jeffcoat, 61, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. Lyle Huntress officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Jeffcoat died Friday at his home.
He was born Feb. 12, 1941 in Palestine to Alton Ray Jeffcoat and Mary Ann Berryhill Jeffcoat.
Mr. Jeffcoat was a retired truck driver who lived most of his life in Palestine. He was a Baptist and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Johnny Jeffcoat and Kenny Jeffcoat.
Mr. Jeffcoat is survived by his wife, Lou Jeffcoat of Palestine; son, Raymond Lee Jeffcoat Jr. of Florence, Miss.; daughter, Kelly Roman of Palestine; brother, Alvin Jeffcoat of Cold Springs; sisters, Doris Corpus and Jean McCally, both of Palestine; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Britt Raner, Glenn Fontenot, John Corpus, Maurice Green, Cory Green and Mike Hardgrave.

Velma A. McShan
Services for Velma A. McShan, 91, of Nacogdoches will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laird-McGill Funeral Home with the Rev. S.D. Dodd officiating. Burial will follow in Old North Church Cemetery under the direction of Laird-McGill Funeral Home, Nacogdoches.
Mrs. McShan died Monday in Palestine.
She was born March 28, 1912, in Nacogdoches to Marshall Honea.
Mrs. McShan was employed in the laundry business and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by sons, James McShan and Kenneth Don McShan, both of Huntington, Gerald McShan and Jerry Lynn McShan, both of Nacogdoches, and Charles Ray McShan of Palestine.
She also is survived by 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Calvin Hudson Sr.
Services for Calvin L. Hudson Sr., 71, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with Chris Jenner officiating.
Mr. Hudson died Tuesday in Palestine.
He was born Jan. 8, 1930, in Charlotte, N.C., to Adam and Ruth Miller Hudson.
Mr. Hudson was reared in North Carolina and had lived in Palestine for the past 20 years. He joined the U.S. Navy at 17 and retired after 23 years of service. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a Mason and a former Rotarian.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Manuel Hudson; and sister, Katherine H. Jones.
Mr. Hudson is survived by sons, Ralph V. Hudson of Charleston, S.C., Calvin Livingston Hudson Jr. of Arlington and Jon Christopher Hudson of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Lyn Hudson Coleman of Waco and Lee Ann Hudson Martine of Palestine; brothers, Roger Hudson of Charleston, S.C., Joe Hudson of Concord, N.C., Aubrey Hudson of Bangkok, Thailand, and Adam Hudson of Houston; sisters, Nancy Wallace of Washington, N.C., and Mollye Canaday of Palestine; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Kenner, Bill Rogers, Joe Crutcher, Tommy Stanfield, Chuck Dickens, Bobby Totah, Mike Rose and David Brown. Honorary pallbearer will be Rayburn Moore.

Mr. Bailey died Tuesday night at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.
William M. Crist
Services for William Maury Crist, 85, of Bullard, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow at Becks Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home of Athens.
Mr. Crist died Tuesday in Athens.
He was born July 14, 1915, in Henderson County’s Becks Chapel community to Steve and Nellie Mooney Crist.
Mr. Crist was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army under Gen. Patton from 1940 to 1945. He was a retired farmer and rancher.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel; son, Tony Crist; and second wife, Louise.
Mr. Crist is survived by brother, J.C. Crist of Lake Palestine; sisters, Alice Gurganus of Weatherford, Dulas Welch of Cross Roads and Bulah Vigne of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chip Crist, Kane Crist, O.W. Farmer, Roger Wright, Jordan Winkle and Shannon Walker.
