Samuel S. Johnson Sr., 79, of Beaumont died Oct. 16, 2000, at his residence.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Baptist Church with entombment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Calvary Mortuary. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday to time of service at the church.
A native of Bunkie, La., he lived in Beaumont 63 years, was a retired truck driver and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include Isadora Johnson of Beaumont; sons, Samuel S. Johnson Jr. and David A. Johnson, both of Houston, Darrell L. Johnson of Gretna, La., and Vincent W. Johnson of Beaumont; daughters, Rita G. Thibeaux and Alice F. Johnson, both of Beaumont, and Cassandra Richardson of Hudson; brothers, Joshua Johnson Sr. of Beaumont and Andrew Johnson of Houston; sisters, Eura Johnson, Rose Johnson and Leslie Williams, all of Beaumont, Gladys Rice and Dorothy Glynn, both of Houston, Josephine Malone of Cheneyville, La., and Mary Young of Riverside, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Willette Cora Kersey, 94, of Bronson died Oct. 18, 2000, at Colonial Pines Nursing Home in San Augustine.
Cremation arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill.
A native of Jackson, Ohio, and a former resident of Miami Springs, Fla., she lived in Bronson four years and was a seamstress.
Survivors include her son, Dal C. Kersey of Jupiter, Fla.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Rose M. Lane, 56, of Port Arthur died Oct. 17, 2000, at Park Place Medical Center.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home in Groves with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
A lifelong resident of Port Arthur, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Richard A. Lane Jr. of Groves and Ricky A. Lane of Port Arthur; daughter, Rosalie M. Smith of Port Arthur; brothers, Mitchell Cricchio and Ronnie Cricchio, both of Groves; sisters, Margaret Little of LaMarque and Tiney Robinson of Port Arthur; and five grandchildren.

Eunice Marie Lavergne, 74, of Orange died Oct. 18, 2000, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange with burial at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A native of Church Point, La., and a former resident of Lafayette, La., she lived in the Orange area 38 years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include daughters, Tricia Davis of Orange and Shirley Thacker of Porter; sons, Pat Lavergne of Mauriceville and Joseph Lavergne of Las Vegas; sisters, Mable LeJune of Baton Rouge and Mary Savoy of Church Point; and five grandchildren.

The Rev. Msgr. Patrick H. O’Connell, 74, of Beaumont died Oct. 16, 2000, at The Clairmont.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Cathedral with burial at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday with a Christian vigil at 7 p.m. at the church.
A native of Fort Worth, he was a retired Diocese of Beaumont diocesan priest.
Survivors include his sister, Rosemary Dibrell of Kerrville.

Robert Shelton Simmons, 84, of Vidor died Oct. 16, 2000, at his residence.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Houston National Cemetery in Houston under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A native of DeRidder, La., he lived in Vidor 20 years and was a retired U.S. Steel machinist and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include sons, Scott Steven Simmons of Stuttgart, Ark., Leonard Shelton Simmons of Baytown and Mark Christopher Simmons of Vidor; brothers, Brent Simmons of DeRidder and Buck Simmons of California; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
