A native of Jasper, she lived in Newton County most of her life.

Evelyn "Jimmie’’ Martin, 90, of Bridge City died April 18, 2000 at Avalon Place Nursing Home in Kirbyville.

A native of Cushing and a former resident of Orangefield and Port Arthur, she lived in Bridge City most of her life.
Survivors include her son, Charles Raleigh of Burkeville; grandchildren, Charles Richard Raleigh and Mellie Charmaine Raleigh; and great-grandchildren, Stephen Michael Raleigh and John Richard Raleigh.

Willie T. Matlock, 65, of Compton, Calif., died April 15, 2000 at a Compton hospital.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brighter Day Baptist Church in Compton with burial in Los Angeles under the direction of Winston Mortuary in Compton.
A native of San Augustine, he lived in Compton several years.

Kather Pete Briggs, 38, of Beaumont died at his residence.

He was a native and lifetime resident of Beaumont who was self-employed.
