Blanchie Henderson
Services for Blanchie Henderson, 97, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Revs. Jay Abernathy and Allen Van Hooser officiating. Burial will follow in Brushy Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Henderson died Monday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 25, 1905 in Dawson to Oscar and Cassie Arnold Berry.
Mrs. Henderson was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Palestine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.M. Henderson, in 1974; and a daughter, Virginia Henderson.
Mrs. Henderson is survived by her daughters, Eloise Mullenaz and Lorene Henderson of Palestine; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Edward Holcomb, Robbie Kennedy, E.G. Scarbrough, Robert Mullenax, Charles Warren, Willie Langston and Roger Henderson.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Luceal Woodard
Services for Luceal Woodard, 95, of Elkhart, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Washington Chapel Church. Burial will follow in the Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Woodard died Tuesday at Spring Season Nursing Center in Elkhart.
She was born July 7, 1907 in Houston County to Val G. Blackshear and Mary Lewis Woodard.
Mrs. Woodard received her education the Rocky Mount School. She was a member of St. Andrew AME Church and later became a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She was preceded in death by two husbands; two sisters, Lela Lewis and Vada Edwards; four sons, Harvey Weaver, Horace Weaver, Charles Woodard, and John Henry Woodard.
Mrs. Woodard is survived by daughters, Geneva Simmons of Elkhart and Costella Addison of Houston; sons, John D. Woodard, Roosevelt Woodard and Bill Weaver, all of Dallas, Porter Weaver of Houston, Odell Woodard of Elkhart and Willie Woodard of Palestine; sister, Lula Mae Robinson of Grapeland; 32 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Gene Mills
Services for Gene Mills, 72, of Quinlan, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Buford Stockard officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Cemetery.
Mr. Mills died Saturday morning at the Medical Center in Terrell.
He was born Dec. 31,1929 in Trenton to J.W. Mills and Leona Pryor Mills.
Mr. Mills was a Baptist. Before retiring he was a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Leona Parker Mills, in 2001; and a son, Roy Lee Bridges.
Mr. Mills is survived by daughters, Jena Ann Fice of Hogeye and Becky Lankford of Palestine; son, Freddie Joe Mills of Quinlan; sister, Aretis Lockridge of Fate; brothers, Troy Mills and Wendell Mills, both of Yantis, and Edwin Mills of Blue Ridge; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Clifford Lockridge, Michael Wade Johnson, Horace Parker, Billy Lloyd Lockridge, Denny Lee Pettit and Troy Paul Mills.

John E. Monk
Services for John E. Monk, 54, of Dallas, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Beth Eden Baptist Church in Dallas with the Rev. Tony Monk officiating. Burial will be in the Veterans Memorial under the direction of Benevolent Mortuary Funeral Home in Dallas.
A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Mr. Monk died Monday at Baylor University hospital in Dallas.
He was born June 17, 1948 in Houma, La. to Willie Drew and Willie Mae Monk.
Mr. Monk was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an associate minister of Beth Eden Baptist Church.
Mr. Monk attended Henderson County Junior College in Athens. He was a drill sergeant instructor for C.C.D. until his illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Monk is survived by his wife, Ettro LaVerne Monk; son, Tony Monk; and daughter, LaToya Monk, all of Dallas; nine brothers and three sisters, all of Dallas, and one sister of Waco.
Pallbearers will be the Brotherhood of Beth Eden Baptist Church.
Daisy Glover
Services for Daisy Glover, 99, of Neches, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reginald Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Dabbs Cemetery in Neches under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Glover died Tuesday at Frankston Health Care Center.
She was born Sept. 23, 1903 in Todd City to Jim and Nancy Holloway Jordan.
A lifelong member of Evans Springs Baptist Church, she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.
Mrs. Glover was employed at Palestine Laundry. She married James Glover and later married Eric “Buck” Nelson. After Mr. Nelson’s death, she remarried her first husband.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; eight siblings; and a son, Raymond Nelson.
Mrs. Glover is survived by a son, Larry Clayborne of Neches; four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Rev. Tenolian Johnson
Services for the Rev. Tenolian Johnson, 88, of Centerville, will be at noon Saturday at Hopewell Baptist Church in Centerville with the Rev. Herman West officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson died Saturday at Madison Saint Joseph Health Center in Madisonville.
He was born Nov. 28, 1913 in Nineveh to Isaiah and Ever Tryon Johnson.
Mr. Johnson attended school in Nineveh and Oakwood. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church where he served as deacon, Sunday school superintendent and sang in the choir.
He later joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Centerville and was called into the ministry. He pastored at Watson Chapel Baptist Church in Marquez and later at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Nineveh until his death.
Mr. Johnson was treasurer and president of the congress in the Regular New Home Baptist Association. He worked on the waterfront in Houston and for General Motors in Michigan. Upon returning to Texas he worked as a cattle rancher.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Isaac Johnson and Corrie Johnson; sisters, Isa Clay, Celestine Isadore, and Lillie Bell Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 24 years, Brenda Abram Johnson of Centerville; stepson, Myua Abram of Dallas; and sisters, Eugenia Scott and Etherial Banks of Teague.
Pallbearers will be Myua Abram, Chauncey Banks, Curtis Banks, Curtis Banks Jr., Maurice Banks and Shawn Banks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Banks, McKinley Banks, Johnny A. Clay, Dennis LeCompte and James Thomas.
Crafton M. Reid
Services for Crafton M. Reid, 80, of Wheaton, Md., and formerly of Palestine, were held last week in Inwood, W.V.
He died Oct. 1 in a Martinsburg, W.V. hospital.
Mr. Reid was born May 17, 1922 in Palestine. He was reared in Neches and served in U.S. Navy and retired as special representative to the U.S. Naval Service Group Command Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Carpenter Reid.
Mr. Reid is survived locally by a nephew, Cliff Scroggins of Palestine.

Evlyn Lewis

Mrs. Lewis died Tuesday at a Houston hospital.
Sereta Moore
Services for Sereta Moore, 77, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Joe Warren officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Moore died Wednesday at Hospice Home Place in Tyler.
She was born July 1, 1925, in Palestine to Hubbard Henry and Holly Johnston Warren.
Mrs. Moore had worked for Davis Refrigeration as a bookkeeper. She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by sister, Clara Stevens; and brother, Henry Warren.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, V.E. “Sug” Moore of Palestine; daughters, Veda Holcomb of Palestine and Kandas Babbs of Athens; sister, Willie Mae Tucker of Palestine; brother, Haden Warren of Palestine; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Stevens, Elmer Stevens, Wade Warren, Breck Dodd, Shane Carter, Zeke Sekol and H.K. Crouch.
John Wesley Higgins
Services for John Wesley Higgins, 89, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Campbell Family Cemetery with Dan Manuel officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Higgins died Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan.
He was born Nov. 10, 1912 in Naples, to O.P. and Pearl Higgins.
Mr. Higgins was a longtime employee of Exxon Oil Company, retiring in 1978 to Palestine.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise McFarlane Higgins.
Mr. Higgins is survived by sons, Pat Higgins of Dallas and Mike Higgins of College Station; daughter, Amanda Higgins of Clear Lake; and a sister, Lucille Knight of Naples.
Daisy Glover

Leo DeCoene
Services for Leo DeCoene, 81, of Fairfield, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church with the Rev. Samuel Metzger officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. DeCoene died Monday at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield.
He was born Sept. 15, 1921 in Detroit to Rene and Elizabeth DeCoene.
Mr. DeCoene was a resident of Fairfield for the past 20 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen DeCoene; and a sister, Georgette Berger.
Mr. DeCoene is survived by a cousin, Frank Mispeon of Michigan.
Pallbearers will be Brian Whitaker, Brad Franklin, Greg Ralph, John Gallegos, Michael Tomanek, Tom DeFrancesco and Mack Sysmanski.
John Wesley Higgins

Durward O. Durnell
Services for Durward O. Durnell, 85, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Interment will follow at Huntsville Cemetery.
Mr. Durnell died Sunday at Mary Rutan Hospital in Belefontaine.
He was born Dec. 8, 1916, in Elkhart to John Franklin and Maude McCutcheon Durnell.
Mr. Durnell was retired from National Extrusion as a press operator in 1979. He also served in the Pacific in the Army in World War II.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Jacqueline Ricketts Durnell, in 1968.
Mr. Durnell is survived by sons, Mike Durnell and John Durnell, both of Bellefontaine, and Lanny Durnell of Lewistown, Ohio; daughters, Tina Durnell and Rita Scherer, both of Bellefontaine, and Sue Pagnard of Franklin, Ohio; brothers, John Durnell, Calvin Durnell and Virgil Durnell; and sisters, Eula, Lois and Esther.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
