Ted Dressler

A memorial service Ted W. Dressler, 86, of El Campo, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in El Campo with Rev. Gary Janak officiating. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. before the service.

Mr. Dressler died April 8, 2006. He was born Jan. 1, 1920, in El Campo to the late Frank W. and Cecilia Orsak Dressler.

He was a retired house painter and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he had received the Medal of Valor. Mr. Dressler was a member of the American Legion Post No. 251, the VFW and the SPJST.

He is survived by his sisters, Lillian Heller of Richmond, Dolores Sliva of Lane City, Lorraine Kana of El Campo, Charlyne Labay of East Bernard and Janell Labay of Hamshire; and brother, Edward J. Dressler of El Campo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Vlasta Halamicek and Bertha Kunetka; and brothers, George and Jerome C. Dressler.

Memorial Donations may be made to the American Legion Building Fund or to St. Philip Catholic Church.

Charlie Fiala

Rosary and funeral services for Charlie Frankie Fiala, 83, of Boling will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Triska Funeral Home in El Campo with Rev. Bob Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park under the direction of Triska Funeral Home. Visitation will begin 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, at Triska Funeral Home.

Mr. Fiala died April 7, 2006. He was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Taiton to the late Ed F. and Frances Kubecka Fiala.

He was a retired pipe machinist in sulfur production. Mr. Fiala was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Krenek Fiala of Boling; son, David Fiala of Sweeny; sisters, Evelyn Moore of Victoria and Martha Bubela of El Campo; brother, Edwin Fiala of Ganado; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jerome and William Fiala.

Donald Losack

Donald Paul Losack, 66, died Friday, April 7, 2006, in Sealy. He was a resident of Caldwell. Mr. Losack was born on Jan. 24, 1940, in Orchard, son of the late John and Martha Losack.

Mr. Losack was a 1957 graduate of East Bernard High School. He received his associate degree from Wharton County Junior College and graduated from Lamar Tech. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he as a designer engineer for Tex-Tool for several years. Mr. Losack then entered the real estate business in the Dallas area, later, he was a dealer in antiques, sports memorabilia and various collectibles and he spent the rest of his life working in this field.

Survivors include his sister, Leona Jackson and her husband, Larry, of Houston; brothers, Louis Losack and wife, Daisy, of East Bernard, Charlie Losack of Rosenberg, Joe Losack and wife, Linda, of Wharton, Jimmie Losack and wife, Georgia, of East Bernard; sister-in-law, Evelyn Losack of Corrales, N.M.; and brother-in-law, Jack Phillips of Pasadena. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Losack was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Phillips; and brothers, Thomas and Johnnie Losack.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 10, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Graveside services followed at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Wallis with Deacon Jerome Losack and Kellie Jackson officiating.

Pallbearers were nephews Duane Losack, Greg Losack, Dustan Losack, Jaron Losack, Ben Losack, Kellie Jackson and Brandon Losack.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Knesek and Sons Funeral Home in Wallis.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Brazos Valley Hospice Brenham, especially Brenda McCarty and Jeanette Willis.

Antonia Ballejo

Antonia J. Ballejo, age 83, of Wharton died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at her home in Wharton following an extended illness. She was born on June 27, 1921, in Runge, the daughter of the late Pablo Jaquez and Francisca Fonseca Jaquez.

Mrs. Ballejo had been a lifelong resident of Wharton and was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Wharton. She married Guillermo Ballejo on Nov. 5, 1950, in Wharton and he preceded her in death on March 14, 2002. She was also preceded in death by one sister and six brothers.

A Wake Service was held at 7 p.m. Monday evening, Dec. 20, 2004, at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home and funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at Primera Iglesia Bautista with Rev. Joel Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Soila and Secundino Alameda and Elizabeth and Juan Jasso, all of Wharton, and Ruth and Tony Sedillo of El Campo; son, Guillermo Ballejo Jr. of Wharton; sisters, Esther Castillo of Lockhart, Mary Garza, Lydia Gonzales, Anita Ramirez and Josie Martinovic, all of Wharton; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Pallbearers were Chris Alameda, Brian Alameda, Stephen Alameda, Juan Jasso, Tony Sedillo and Daniel Ramirez.

In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to Hospice Support Care, 1102 N. Mechanic, Suite B, El Campo, TX 77437.

Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.

Linda Harrington

Funeral services for Linda Gayle Rodgers Harrington, 62, of Boling, are pending at Wharton Funeral Home.

Ms. Harrington died Dec. 19, 2004, in Boling.

William Penry

Funeral services for William Penry Jr., 57, of Fort Worth, were held Dec. 15 at the Robertson Mueller Harper Funeral Home with burial following with military honors in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Mr. Penry was a retired U.S. Marine Corps major and died Dec. 12, 2004, in a Dallas Hospital after an extended illness with Cancer. He was born May 19, 1947, in Harlingen, the son of William and Bertie Klein Penry.

He graduated from W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi before attending the University of Houston, where he received his undergraduate degree. He later received his master’s degree from Pepperdine University. Mr. Penry married the former Kathy Wilson of Wharton on Dec. 31, 1969. Following his retirement from the Marine Corps in 1990, he was employed by General Dynamics Services in Saint Louis. He left GDS to join Shipley Associates and DynCorp and moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth Area in 1993.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Kathy Wilson Penry; sons, Brian, Joshua and Travis Penry, all of Fort Worth area; brother, John Penry and wife Becky of San Antonio; mother-in-law, Vivian Wilson of Wharton; and sister-in-law, Betty Wilson of Wharton.

Mariana Choate

Funeral Services for Mariana Choate are set for 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2004, at Metcalf Funeral Chapel with Rev. Travis Burleson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Metcalf Funeral Home.

Mrs. Choate, of Conroe, passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004. She was born Jan. 14, 1947, in Newgulf to Hattie Lee Patterson Page and Dorsie Denton Page Sr.
She attended grade school in Newgulf and Wharton and graduated from Wharton High School in 1965. Her collegiate education was at Texas A&I and the University of Houston.

Mrs. Choate worked for the Houston Grand Opera and retired in 2000 from the Texas Department of Human Services after 30 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dorsie D. Page Sr.; her mother, Hattie Patterson Page; and one grand-niece Kerrigan Page Davis. Survivors include two sisters, Kathleen Page Janik of Gonzales and Betty Page Wilson of Van; one brother, Dorsie Denton Page Jr. of Alexandria, Va.; four nieces, Page Elizabeth Janik of Houston, Sarah Ellen Janik Russell of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mariana Page Smith of Fredericksburg, Va., and Amanda Elizabeth Davis of Van,; four nephews, James Thomas Anderson IV of Columbia, Va., Jeffrey Scott Anderson of Lewisville, Dorsie Denton Page III of Alexandria, Va., and Charles Edward Wilson of Tyler; seven great-nieces, Stephanie Russell Biermann of Chesterfield, Mo., Katie Ann Arrington of Fredericksburg, Va., Tayler Dingler and Hannah Emily Grace Wilson of Tyler, Emma Grace and Molly Kate Anderson of Lewisville and Madigan Page Davis of Van; three great-nephews, James Thomas Anderson V and Ardan David Anderson of Columbia, Va., and Parker Zachary Charles Wilson of Tyler. She is also survived by a host of cousins and friends.

Honorary pallbearers include, Jay Anderson, Jeff Anderson, Steve Russell, Russell Turbeville, Charlie Davis, Chuck Wilson, Dorcie D. Page III and Craig Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, to Baylor Medical School for Alzheimer’s Research, or to the American Heart Association.

Reginald Eddington
Funeral services for Reginald Eddington Sr., 48, of Wharton, will be held at 1:45 p.m. Monday at National Cemetery Chapel in San Antonio. Mr. Eddington died Aug. 20, 2002.

Bertha Crowder

Funeral services for Bertha Mae Crowder, 70, of Houston, will be held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Houston with Rev. Mark A. Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. today.

Mrs. Crowder died Aug. 13, 2003, at L.B.J. Hospital in Houston. She was born Feb. 19, 1933, in Minden, La., to Sidney and Mattie Mae Taylor Easter.

Survivors include many relatives.

Kenneth Faulkner

Kenneth Lee Faulkner, 64, of Wharton, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003. He was born Nov. 15, 1938, in Marlin, to the late Henry Lee and Elizabeth Hartgrove Faulkner.

Mr. Faulkner served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietname War. He enlisted in the spring of 1959 and was honorably discharged in December of 1970, completing almost 12 years of service. Mr. Faulkner moved to Wharton in 1972 and worked as an apprentice prior to becoming an independent carpenter in 1974. For nearly 30 years he was self-employed and engaged in home roofing and remodeling and outdoor furniture manufacturing.

A private family ceremony and burial will be held at Houston National Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Vallie K. Faulkner of Dayton; daughter, Rachel E. Bowman of Richmond, Va.; three grandchildren, Savanna, Kenneth and Steven; and two brothers, J.S. Faulkner of Marlin and T.H. Faulkner of Victoria.

Stazie Kasmir

Funeral services for Stazie Kasmir, 88, of Beaumont, are pending at Wharton Funeral Home.
Ms. Kasmir died Monday in a Beaumont nursing home.

Mary Kresta

Mary Ann Kresta, age 90, of Wharton, died Aug. 16, 2003, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1913, in Moulton, the daughter of Frank and Anastasia Derrich.

She married Edwin Julius Kresta on May 10, 1929, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moulton, and later in life married Harry Brotze.

Mrs. Kresta resided at Avalon Place in Wharton and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, KJZT and the Legion of Mary. She was a Catholic and her faith remained strong throughout her 90 years.

Survivors include son, Frank Kresta and his wife Soon of Visalia, Calif.; daughter, Anita Michalec and her husband Laddie of San Antonio; son, James Kresta Sr. and his wife Elrose of East Bernard; daughter-in-law, Betty Kresta of Hungerford; grandchildren, Tammy Nam, Bernadette Real, Ronald Michalec, Vivian Prothro, Barbara Martin, Michael Michalec, Kenneth Kresta, Terry Kresta, Randy Kresta, Craig Kresta, Chris Kresta, Brenda Walbush, James Kresta Jr., Becky Wilcox, Laura Jirkovsky and Kristi Kresta; 31 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Riha and Sidonia Cross. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Eugene Kresta; one brother and four sisters.

A rosary was recited on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at 7:30 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Rev. Joe Hybner officiating. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Cemetery in San Antonio with Rev. Bill Zodora officiating.

Pallbearers are her grandsons, Ronald Michalec, Michael Michalec, Kenneth Kresta, Randy Kresta, Chris Kresta and James Kresta Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Bill Tripp, Bubba Wilcox, Ron Prothro, Alan Jirkovsky, Eutchel Nam and Kirk Walbush.
