Ruby Bailey
Funeral services for Ruby Otera Bailey, 93, of Wharton, will b held at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Faith Church. Burial will follow in Boones Bend. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. James Methodist Church.
Mrs. Bailey died Oct. 25, 2004, in a local nursing home. She was born April 1, 1911, in Wharton County to Lawyer Gray and Isabella Armstrong.
She worked in domestic care.
Survivors include daughters, Otera Bailey Neblett and Bobbie Scott; son, James Oren Bailey; brothers and sisters, Eugene Gray, Girtha Gray, Naomi Conners and Lydia Hicks; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Andrew Jackson
Funeral services for Andrew Lee Jackson, 55, of Wharton, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. L.C. Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow in Bowden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday.
Mr. Jackson died Oct. 24, 2004, at his residence. He was born Oct. 1, 1949, in Wharton to John and Irene Haynes Jackson.
Survivors include daughters, Tiffany Ware of Missouri City and Crystal Jackson of Lane City; brother, Bennie Jackson of Wharton; sister, Johnetta Lynn Jackson of Houston; and two grandchildren.

Lawrence Petersen
Lawrence J. Petersen, age 73, passed away on Jan. 31, 2005 at his home in Danevang. He was born on Feb. 13, 1931, in Danevang to the late Verner A. and Louise Olson Petersen.
He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss during the Korean Conflict. He earned a degree in agricultural engineering from Texas A&I University. Mr. Petersen was currently serving as a trustee on the Wharton County Junior College Board of Directors having served six years as chairman, a present member of the Commercial State Bank Board of directors, served 20 years on the board of Cotton Incorporated which promotes cotton research and marketing, helped initiate and served as president of the South Texas Cotton and Grain Association, served as past president of Texas Pest Management and was a former Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria McDonald Petersen of Danevang; daughters, Pamela Pope and husband J. Paul of Reston, Va., Laurie Martin and husband Jimmy of Frankfurt, Germany; son Kyle Petersen and wife Andrea of Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren; Travis Pope, Angela Martin, Corie Pope, Leah Martin, Karis Martin, Jesi Petersen and Scott Petersen; and brother Ralph Petersen of Danevang.
Visitation will begin at noon today, Wednesday. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 7 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home in El Campo. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at First Baptist Church in El Campo with Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Interment will be in the Danevang Lutheran Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Travis Pope, Jimmy Barger, Edgar Beyer, Darryl Petersen, Donald McDonald Jr. and Mickey McDonald.
Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters.
Memorials in memory of Lawrence Petersen may be made to the Danish Heritage Museum in Danevang.
Charlyne Spaniel
Funeral services for Charlyne Stephens Spanihel, 77, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. Prayer service and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus and then from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Interment will follow the funeral services in Lakeside Cemetery in Eagle Lake.
Joyce Wynn
Joyce Cox Wynn, age 94, was born in Algoa. On Jan. 28, 2005, she entered into eternal life with Jesus and is now a rookie in Heaven. Mrs. Wynn, who lived in Friendswood came into this world Jan. 7, 1911. She was a longtime resident of Boling and was a lifetime member of Iago Federated Church. Mrs. Wynn was elected Woman of The Year back in the late 1980s by the citizens of Boling for her dedication to helping others.
She was a giver, she loved to help anyone with a need. Her hobby was her flower beds and writing letters to all of her many friends back in Boling and Iago and to her family.
Before her age took over she really enjoyed working on the reunions for Old Gulf School.
She was preceded in death by her husband W.W. “Bill” Wynn III, son James C. “Jimmy” Wynn and her grandsons, Billy Wynn Jr. and Danny W. Wynn. She leaves behind her loving son and loving daughter-in-law, Billy and Ann Wynn of Friendswood; sister, Jewell and husband Gordon Hallenbeck of Houston; sisters-in-law, Aileen Cox of Matagorda and Bernadine Wynn of Houston; grandsons, Wesley Wynn of Friendswood, Rick Vickers of Alvin; granddaughters, Dyane Wynn and her husband Tom Magliolo of League City, Joyce Vickers Pearson of Mabelton, Ga.; great-grandson, Steven and wife Rachel Coleman of Friendswood; great-granddaughter, Shandy Wynn of Deer Park and Christy Coleman and husband J.D. Morgan of League City; great-great grandchildren, Ryan, Brett and Ashely Coleman, all of Friendswood, Cassandra, Cierra and Sebastian Travis Wynn, all of Deer Park; nephews, Raymond Cox of Matagorda, Terry Salley of Indianapolis, Ind., Wynn Norris and wife Margie of Socorro, N.M., and Euclid Norris and wife Bobbie Jean of Baytown; nieces, Alma Humphrey of Houston, Judy Cox of Pearland and Geraldine Noble and her husband Zek of Marble Falls; and a host of wonderful friends.
Pallbearers are Jordan Taylor of Cypress, Euclid Norris, Rick Vickers, Tom Magliolo, Wesley Wynn, Dick Chamrad, all of Friendswood, and Karl McLeod of Iago.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home with Pastor Mickey Reynolds of Iago Federated Church officiating. Interment followed at Forest Park East Cemetery.
Arvis Brown
Funeral services for Arvis Brown, 70, of Wharton, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown died Feb. 20, 2005.

Arvis Brown
Funeral services for Arvis Marie Brown were held Thursday at First United Methodist Church with Ralph Steel officiating.
Mrs. Brown died Feb. 20, 2005, after a brief illness. She was the oldest of seven children born to the late Clinton and Mildred Flournoy Morris.
After graduation from Phyllis Wheatly High School in Houston, she received a bachelor of science e degree and master’s degree from Prairie View A&M University. She was a librarian in Wharton Independent School District for 36 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Brown Jr. Survivors include sisters, Vera Fay Reece of Dallas, Bernadine Johnson and husband Mose of Houston; brother, John Wesley Morris and wife Vera of Houston; and a host of nieces, nephews, step-children and cousins.
Johnnie Johnson
Funeral services for Johnnie Johnson, 84, of Wharton, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Johnson Estate Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Johnson died Feb. 16, 2005, at Memorial Hermann Hospital. He was born May 22, 1921, in Wharton to the late Alex Johnson and Olivia Irvin.
He was retired from Reliant Energy.
Survivors include daughters, Gwendolyn Johnson and Rachel Jean Johnson Sanford; and five grandchildren.

Billy Biggerstaff
Billy Jack Biggerstaff of El Campo passed away on March 5, 2006, in Houston at the age of 50. He was born on Feb. 25, 1956, in El Campo to Bill and Foy Jean Tinsley Biggerstaff.
He is survived by his wife Jo Etta Boysen Biggerstaff of El Campo, son, Blake Biggerstaff of El Campo ; parents, Bill and Jean Biggerstaff of Pierce; brother, Mark Biggerstaff of Pierce; and step-grandmother, Helen Biggerstaff of Talco. He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Biggerstaff.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Elks Lodge. He loved to hunt and fish, play baseball with his son and spend time with his family.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Triska Funeral Home in El Campo.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5: to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Joyce McCormick officiating.
Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Drapela, Richard Zahn, Morris Tinsley Jr., Michael Rolf, Gabe Kahanek, Jeff Reckaway, Al Garrison, and Marshall “Red” Foster.

Annie Stolarsky
Funeral Mass for Annie Mae Drymalla Stolarsky, 77, of Richmond, loving wife, mother, grandmother will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2006, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1416 George Street in Rosenberg. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Rev. Dan Warden will officiate the services.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2006, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
Mrs. Stolarsky was born Aug. 9, 1928, in Wallis to Willie and Francis Sliva Drymalla. She passed away May 20, 2006, in Richmond.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Albert Stolarsky Sr.; parents, Willie and Francis Drymalla; siblings, Victor Drymalla, Willie Paul Drymalla, Willa Mae Drymalla and Margie Goff.
Survivors include children. James Blair
James Blair, age 67, of Glen Flora, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006. He was born on Sept. 6, 1939, in Wharton, the son of the late Ed Blair and Sarah Towerton Blair.
Mr. Blair was a lifelong resident of Wharton County, a Methodist by faith, a farmer, rancher and a “cowboy” at heart. He married Flossie Boatwright on Dec. 20, 1958, in Glen Flora. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Shirley Zabodyn and Virginia “Annette” Weid; and two brothers, Ed Blair and Bill Blair.
Friends may call for visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Wharton Funeral Home with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Laura Olson officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
