Roy William Rueter

Sept. 3, 1925 — March 21, 2001

BRENHAM — Services for Roy William Rueter, 75, of Brenham are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Michael Habermehl will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Rueter died Wednesday in Methodist Hospital in Houston.

He was born in Falls County. He founded Magnetic Instruments and then moved the company to Brenham in 1977. He also served in the merchant marine.

Survivors include his wife, Anneta Rueter of Brenham; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Allen and Lori S. Rueter of Cypress, Gary and Clara Rueter of Brenham and Timothy and Sheila Rueter of Houston; a sister, Odessa Bocchetti of San Antonio; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Joe Henry Jones

Aug. 15, 1951 — March 21, 2001

NAVASOTA — Services for Joe Henry Jones, 49, of Navasota are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Holland Baptist Church. The Rev. Derick Watson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Holland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mr. Jones died Wednesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

He was born in Navasota. He was a member of St. Holland Baptist Church.

Survivors include seven sisters and a brother-in-law, Earline Jones, Pearline Jones, Shirley Jones, Jean Jones and Diane Jones, all of Navasota, Jo Ann and Jess Horace of Katy, and Lois Faye of Beaumont; two brothers and a sister-in-law, David and Angie Jones and Larry Jones, all of Beaumont; and his mother, Cora Lee Jones of Navasota.

Arthur G. Lochridge Sr.

Oct. 30, 1916 — March 15, 2001

PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. — Graveside services for Arthur Guy Lochridge, 84, of Pacific Grove, are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at New Tabor Cemetery near Caldwell. The Rev. Henry Beseda will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mr. Lochridge died Thursday at Hospice House in Monterrey, Calif.He was born in Houston and resided in Texas City before moving to Pacific Grove four years ago. He was a retired electrician.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Olga Kubin Lochridge.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Arthur G. Lochridge Jr. and Cindy of Pacific Grove; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1798, Monterey, Calif. 93942.

John Richard Enzminger

June 30, 1947 — March 19, 2001

A Mass of resurrection for John Richard Enzminger, 53, of Bryan is set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Austin. The Rev. Ed Jordan will officiate. Burial will be Monday at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.

Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Enzminger died Monday at his home.

He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He resided in Bryan for a year. He was a college graduate and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.

He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and was employed in the oil industry.

Survivors include a son, Joe Enzminger of Austin; a daughter, Ann Enzminger of New York; a brother, Kurt Enzminger of Chicago; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Marti and Emil Nielson of Cody, N.Y., and Theresa and Ray Massaro of Denver.

Frank L. Vavra

Sept. 1, 1915 — March 21, 2001

Services for Frank L. Vavra, 85, of Bryan are set for 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. John McCaffrey will officiate.

Entombment will be at the Msgr. Gleissner Mausoleum in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel.

A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Vavra died Wednesday.

He was born in Brazos County. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Usher’s Club, a third-degree knight of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J.B. Gleissner Council No. 1834, Slavonic Mutual Fire Insurance and a lifetime honorary board member of Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Vavra retired from Texas A&M Univeristy and the city of Bryan. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Anne Vavra of Bryan; six daughters and two sons-in-law, Doris Jane Vavra of Bryan, Frances Jean Manna of Bryan, Mary Louise and Gary Sims of College Station, Anne Daleon of Bryan, Kathleen Vavra of New Orleans, La., and Elaine and Charles Shipman of San Antonio; a brother, Martin Vavra of Bryan; a sister, Cecile Lowrie of New Braunfels; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Roy Frankwin Gilbert

April 26, 1941 — Feb. 2, 2001

Memorial services for Roy Frankwin Gilbert, 59, of Bryan are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. The Rev. John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. A private graveside service was held.

Mr. Gilbert died Feb. 2 at his home in Bryan.

He was born in Detroit. He received a B.A. in economics from Michigan State in 1963, an M.A. in economics from Michigan State in 1966 and a Ph.D. in economics from Michigan State in 1969.

He came to Texas A&M in 1970 as an assistant professor in economics and was an associate professor since 1973. His fields of studies were econometrics, forensic economics, macroeconomic theory and microeconomic theory.

He served on the board of editors of the Journal of Legal Economics; he was editorial referees for the Journal of the American Statistical Association, the Journal of Forensic Economics and the Litigation Economics Digest.

Survivors include his legal ward, Andrew Bemis of Bryan; and numerous cousins and friends and associates.

Memorials may be made to the Evans Scholarship c/o University Development, Michigan State University, 4700 S. Hagadorn Road, Suite 220, East Lansing, Mich. 48823.

Richard V. Ramirez

Sept. 11, 1954 — March 21, 2001

HEARNE — Services for Richard V. Ramirez, 46, of Hearne are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hearne. The Rev. Scott Mikkelson will officiate. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ramirez died Wednesday at his home in Hearne. He served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1975. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hearne.

Survivors include his wife, Isabel C. Ramirez of Hearne; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Christopher and Tylesha Ramirez of Bryan and Richardo Ramirez Jr. of Hearne; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Christi and Gary Essix of Bryan, Carlotta and Jesse Ruiz and Francisca Ramirez, all of Hearne; seven brothers and six sisters-in-law, Pete and Elizabeth Ramirez of Abilene, Frank and Lydia Ramirez of Rockdale, Carlos Jr. and Nellie Ramirez and Victor and Mary Jane Ramirez, all of Hearne, Robert and Pat Ramirez of Franklin, Raymond and Julie Ramirez of Calvert and David Ramirez of Florida; his parents, Charlie and Benita Ramirez of Hearne; and five grandchildren.

James Mac Doss

Nov. 23, 1906 — March 21, 2001

A graveside service for James Mac Doss, 94, of College Station will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Forest Park Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. James Clark of Park Place Baptist Church will officiate. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.

Mr. Doss died Wednesday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Quannah, Texas, and lived in College Station for 27 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was retired after 40 years as manager at the Sam Houston Hotel. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Park Place United Methodist Church No. 1172.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Louise Doss of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Leroy Suttles of Palestine; two sisters-in-law, Frances Doss and Eula Mae Doss, both of Houston; a granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Garland Laird

April 20, 1972 — March 20, 2001

Services for Garland Laird, 28, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Daniel & Son Funeral Home. The Rev. John F. Foster Sr. of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Laird died Tuesday at College Station Medical Center.

He was born in Maywood, Ill.

Survivors include a godson, Anthony Chapel of Bryan; a sister, Deborah Laird of Bryan, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Keith Jerone Stubblefield Sr.

Feb. 7, 1964 — March 18, 2001

Services for Keith Jerone Stubblefield Sr., 37, of Harris County, formerly of Bryan, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Zion Christian Outreach Center.

The Rev. Winfred D. Garrett Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Outreach Center.

Mr. Stubblefield died Sunday in Spring Branch Hospital.

He was born in Houston. Mr. Stubblefield was the manager of Captain D’s and was a member of Zion Christian Outreach Center.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Dianne Stubblefield of Houston; three sons, Keith Jerone Stubblefield Jr., Kendall Wayne Stubblefield and Kendrick Ray Stubblefield, all of Houston; a daughter, Korietta Leshay Stubblefield of Houston; three brothers, Reggie Stubblefield, Carl Stubblefield and Steve Stubblefield, all of Houston; and three sisters, Evangeline Holmes, Renae Laws and Shaundra Campbell, all of Houston.

Elmer ‘Guber’ Richards

July 27, 1925 — March 20, 2001

Services for Elmer “Guber” Richards, 75, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Bryan. The Rev. Gary Bagley will officiate.

Burial will be in North Elm Cemetery in Cameron.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Callaway Jones Funeral Home.

Mr. Richards died Tuesday at his home in Bryan.

He was born in Cameron and had resided in Bryan since 1959. He was an employee of Texas A&M University commissary until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Threisa “Marianne” Richards of Bryan; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
