CALDWELL — Services for Malinda Brinkman, 87, of Sweeny, Texas, are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
The Rev. Debbie Measells will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville.
Mrs. Brinkman died Wednesday in the Sweeny House Nursing Home in Sweeny.
She was born in Birch and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brazoria.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Brinkman.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Geniva Anne and George Minks of Brazoria and Norma Jean Danford of West Columbia; a brother, Alton O. Poehl of Somerville; three sisters, Martha Peters of Brazoria, Laverne Smalley of Somerville and Ruby Lee Meier of College Station; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Rosa Haecker Wesch
Sept. 13, 1908 — March 12, 2001
NEW BRAUNFELS — Services for Rosa Haecker Wesch, 92, of San Antonio are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels.
Burial will be in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wesch died Monday.
She was a member of the Women’s Guild and Sewing Club at Bethany Congregational United Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by a son, Calvin Wesch.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Marcella and Calvin Stapper and Ann B. Scates, all of San Antonio; a son and two daughters-in-law, Vincent and Audni Wesch of Midland and Judy Wesch of Friday Harbor, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul Lawrence Toliver
Nov. 23, 1932 — March 10, 2001
Services for Paul Lawrence Toliver, 68, of Bryan are set for 1 p.m. Thursday at the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Bryan.
The Rev. Fred Ford of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in New Bethlehem Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.
Mr. Toliver died Saturday in the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Temple.
He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and was a member of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He served on the Deacon Board, was Sunday school superintendent and sang in the church choir. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include two sons, George Anthony Toliver of Las Vegas and John Paul Toliver of Bryan; a daughter, Valerie Lynn Toliver-Roy of Los Angeles; two brothers, Searcy Lamar Toliver of Bryan and the Rev. Daniel Obbie Toliver of Oakland, Calif.; a sister, Geraldine Toliver-Hester-Baccus of College Station; and a granddaughter.
Alene Raye Montelongo

ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Alene Raye Montelongo, 26, of Thorndale are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Rockdale.
The Rev. Douglas Springer of the Rockdale Full Gospel Church will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Ms. Montelongo died Monday near Rockdale.
She was born in Hearne and was a crew leader at the Sonic Drive-In in Rockdale. She attended school in Rockdale.
Survivors include three sons, Quentin Orion Montelongo and Rick Austin Montelongo Reynosa, both of Rockdale, and Brett Andrew Brockenbush of Houston; a daughter, Caress Nichole Montelongo of Rockdale; her father and stepmother, Raymond Alvin and Veda Talafuse of Thorndale; her mother, Barbara Jean Walter of Rockdale; her ex-husband, Ben C. Montelongo of Rockdale; four brothers, Billy Small of Austin, Tiger Tovar of Rockdale, Weyland Talafuse and Raymond Alvin Talafuse III, both of Thorndale; and six sisters, Teresa Lawhon, Tina Blackmon, and Lena Tovar, all of Rockdale, Tracy Small of Houston, Donna Talafuse of Dallas and Amanda Talafuse of Rosebud, Texas.
Emily Marguerite Craft Watson

JEWETT — Services for Emily Marguerite Craft Watson, 84, of Jewett are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Jewett.
The Revs. Bill Bob Evans of First Baptist Church of Marquez and James Engle of First Baptist Church in Jewett will officiate. Burial will be on private land near Jewett.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday at Ricks Funeral Home in Jewett and from noon to the time of the services Friday at the church.
Mrs. Watson died Monday in Madison St. Joseph Health Center.
She was born in Newby and was a homemaker. During World War II, she taught in the CC Corps (Tree Army) and worked in the Fort Worth Defense Plant as a riveter. She helped construct the P-51 Mustang and B-24 Liberators. She attended Texas Women’s College in Denton and taught first grade in Buffalo in the 1930s. In later years, she worked as a librarian in the Jewett Library and Museum. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jewett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Elmer Watson; and a son, Robert Wayne Watson.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Ruth Neal; two sons, David Lloyd Watson and Stephen Randell Watson; two daughters-in-law; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Jennie Rodgers

Services for Jennie Rodgers, 87, of San Antonio and formerly of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan.
The Rev. John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rodgers died Sunday in San Antonio.
She was born in the Steel Store community of Brazos County and lived in Brazos and Burleson counties for 70 years. She was a retired grocery owner and operator. She and her husband owned and operated the Riverside Grocery in the Steel Store community for many years. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julious Rodgers.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Hank Fraser of San Antonio; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Louis and Ruth Morello and Matt Morello, all of Bryan; two sisters, Lucille Listi of Houston and Laura Nelson of San Antonio; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Billy Batte

ROCKDALE — Services for Billy Batte, 92, of Rockdale are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home.
The Rev. Calvin Springer of the Rockdale Full Gospel Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.
Mrs. Batte died Wednesday in the Renaissance Villa Nursing Home in Rockdale.
She was born in Granger, Texas, and lived in Rockdale for 10 years. She lived most of her life in Cameron and was a homemaker, a waitress in Cameron and Temple, and ranched with her husband. She served in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II and volunteered as a “pink lady” in the Cameron hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Batte Jr., and a daughter, Viola Joyce Conoley.
Survivors include a stepson, Bobby Batte of Cameron; a stepdaughter, Pat Batte of Cameron; three brothers, Roy Cummings of Kingston, Okla., Robert Cummings of Allen and Frank Cummings of Georgetown, Texas; four sisters, Bertie Wilson of Rockdale, Ida Hickman of Pflugerville, Ina Cartwright of Texas City and Merle Williams of Georgetown; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Melba Renay Bazy

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brasher died Wednesday.
She was born in Coryell County, Texas.

Ira T. Goodlett

Graveside services for Ira T. Goodlett, 70, of Rowlett, Texas, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Steep Hollow Cemetery near Bryan.
The Rev. Dean Goodlett will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mr. Goodlett died Thursday in Dallas.
He was born in Calvert and was a member of the Arapaho Road Baptist Church. He attended Howard Payne College and Texas A&M University. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was chief executive officer and founder of Temperature Control Systems Inc., until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi Goodlett of Rowlett; a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Dean and Jenny Goodlett of Santa Isabell, Calif.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Scott Cross and Patti and Ron Sparazynski, all of Rowlett, and Sarah Kay and Arthur Rhodes of Princeton, Texas; and 10 grandchildren.

Mrs. Manas died Thursday in Harris Northwest Hospital in Azle.
She was born in Brenham and was a retired production worker for Keller Manufacturing. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was in the Altar Society and Rosary Circle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph Manas Sr.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William Joseph Jr. and Trese Manas of Somerville and Mark Charles and Wanda Manas of Rockdale; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Manas and Conrad Martin of Azle; two sisters, Natalie Pawlak of Houston and Julia Bell of Brenham; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
