Opal Roper Martin

Opal Roper Martin, wife of Lloyd Martin, beloved mother of Patsy Howard Argo, Judith Howard Bell, Charolett Howard Gaddis and Don "Adam" Howard, went home to Heaven on Monday. Third daughter of Ollie Chandler and C.M. Payne Sr., born July 12, 1915 in Tuskahoma, Okla. She was preceded in death by daughter, Darlene Howard; son, Charles Allen Howard; two grandsons, Sam Howard Gaddis and James Edwin Griffin Mays; two sisters, Euphie Payne Cates and Ruth Payne Lynch; four brothers, C.M. Payne Jr., Arnis Wade Payne, Eugene Floyd Payne, O.D. Thomas Payne, both parents and husbands, Noble Howard and J.B. Roper.

Opal made her home in East  Texas in 1961 when she went into the restaurant business in Frankston. She owned and operated her family restaurant, Roper's Diner, for 30 years, having a reputation for great home cooked meals at a reasonable price and a successful business woman. Opal enjoyed fishing, making quilts for her children and visiting with her family and friends.

Opal is survived by her dear husband, Lloyd Martin; and children Bob and Pat Argo of Roanoke, Bob and Judith Bell of Plano, Don and Deb Howard of Palestine, and Albert and Charolett Gaddis of Frankston; two brothers, Richard Payne of Kemp and Archie Payne of Wills Point; grandchildren, Malinda Howard of Dallas, Kayla Collins and Lucretia Howard, both Tyler; Don Paul Howard of Arkansas, Debi Pearson and Donna Mumma, both of Sunset; Marsha Argo of Alabama, Sandy Fanell of Chico, Kenneth Mays of Roanoke, Robert Bell Jr. of Missouri, Carlina Tesche of Sachse, Scott Bell of Gun Barrel City, Angelia Williams of Abbeyville, La., Hollie Lynn Gaddis of Frankston, Angela Ray of Caarrotton, Lauren Jimenez of Palestine, Alex Howard of Palestine and Brenda Wilson of Rockwall; 41 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-granchildren with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dear quilting sisters, her beloved "coffee drinkers," her many friends and customers and her faithful, loving employees whom she never forgot.

Opal was a Christian woman trusting in God, who loved her husband and children more than life. She has left a legacy of beautiful children who will miss her greatly.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with the Rev. George Folmar officiating. Burial will be at the Frankston City Cemetery immediately following the services.

Eva "Granny" Robinson

Services for Eva "Granny" Robinson, 84, of Elkhart will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Willie Reagan officiating. Burial will follow in Ferguson Cemetery.

Mrs. Robinson died Tuesday morning at Spring Season of Elkhart.

She was born April 19, 1919 in Moultrie, Ga. to Buddy and Rebecca Kelly.

Mrs. Robinson was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Warren. She was a retired cook for the Advent Christian Village, after 15 years of service. She also worked as a line canner at Kraft Foods.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Clarence James Robinson.

Mrs. Robinson is survived by daughter, Carol Robinson of Palestine; son, Lawrence Robinson and wife Barbara Jane of Palestine; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lester Baxter, Charles Baxter, Wade Salmon, Bryan Robinson, John Floyd and John Alexander.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Jacqueline "Hope" Harcrow

Services for Jacqueline "Hope" Harcrow, 11, of Normangee, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Harmony Baptist Church in Normangee with the Revs. Bud McGee and Kip Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo City Cemetery under the direction of Buffalo Funeral Home.

She died Monday at Scott &  White Hospital in Temple.

Helen L. Minor

Mrs. Minor died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Grammer George Moore

Services for Grammer George Moore, 78, of Gladewater, were scheduled at 2 p.m. today at St. James Baptist Church in Gladewater with the Rev. Samuel Lawson officiating. Burial will take place Saturday at Roosevelt Memorial Cemetery in Chesapeake, Va. under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Mr. Moore died Monday at Longview Regional Medical Center.

Catherine Alleta Scott

Melvin Dusty Bell

Services for Melvin Dusty Bell, 52, of Palestine, were at 10 a.m. today at Grace & Truth Tabernacle in Palestine with the Rev. Etta Bell Guthrie officiating. Burial followed at Parker Cemetery, south of Oakwood.

Mr. Bell died Tuesday afternoon.

He was born Aug. 20, 1951, in Flo,  Texas.

Mr. Bell was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Because of his love of plants, he went on to achieve a horticulture degree at Trinity Valley Community College.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aden and Clara Driskell Bell of Palestine; and nephew, Shane Bell of Buffalo.

Mr. Bell is survived by brothers, Jack Bell, Curtis Bell, Roger Bell, Steve Bell and John Bell; sisters, Patsy Seevers, Bertha  Jackson and Sherry Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were L.D. Jones, Tony Jones, Sam Lonewolf, John Crye, Fred Smith and Jerry. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Seevers, Don Smith, Jerod Scroggins, Collin Bristow and the Rev. Arvie Jones.

Infant Tyme Phillip Carrillo

Newborn son of Paul Carrillo and Kerri Field, brother of Cassie, Whitney, Elijah, Sage and KhyAnne.

Wanda (Gallup) Coffman

Services for Wanda (Gallup) Coffman, 72, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tennessee Colony Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Dees officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.

Mrs. Coffman died Friday at Hospice Home Place in Tyler.

She was born Dec. 11, 1931 in Anderson County to Willard and Mable Graham Bridges.

Mrs. Coffman worked for the Palestine Independent School District as a secretary for many years. She was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, James P. Coffman.

Mrs. Coffman is survived by sons, Kent Gallup and wife Carla of Athens and Keith Gallup and wife Brenda of Palestine; grandson, Wesley Gallup of Palestine; and close companion, Puppyduddle.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Wade Riley

Services for Wade Riley, 86, of Houston, and formerly of Palestine, will be at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at Mount Vernon AME Church. Burial will follow at the Mallard Burial Grounds on CR 404 under the direction of Frazier Mitchell Funeral Home in Houston.

Mrs. Riley died Houston on March 29.

The viewing will be 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the church.

Laura Kay Rhyne Rodriguez

Amelia Lee Zizzi

Services for Amelia Lee Zizzi, 78, of Frankston will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Cashner Colonial Chapel. Interment will be held in Houston National Cemetery at 1 p.m. with Cashner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Zizzi was born in Nacogdoches on Nov. 16, 1925 and passed away Tuesday in Conroe,  Texas. During World War II she was a "Rosie the Riveter" while working at Convair and Lockheed. She was a very well known custom tailor for the California Peace Officers.

Mrs. Zizzi is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Warren and Paula Zizzi of Crestline,  Calif. and Joe and Trish Zizzi of Montgomery; sister, Barbara Parish of Huntsville; brother and sister-in-law, Alvis and Nelda Warren of Elkhart; grandchildren, Eric Zizzi, Jeffrey Zizzi and Devon Zizzi; great-grandchildren, C.J. Zizzi, Justin Zizzi and Elle Zizzi.

Laura Kay Rhyne Rodriguez

Laura Kay Rhyne Rodriguez went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 31, 2004 after experiencing heart failure.

Services for Laura Kay Rodriguez, 41, of Fayetteville, N.C. will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Bailey & Foster Chapel with Rev. Rick Dees officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Laura was born in Marshall on Feb. 8, 1963 to Robert Lloyd and Martha Allums Rhyne. Laura moved to Palestine with her family in January 1969. She graduated from Westwood High School in 1981. She was active in the band and served as feature twirler her senior year. She was employed at East  Texas National Bank for two years before moving to Houston, where she was employed at Citizens National Bank in Bellaire.

In 1998 Laura served as mayor of Marshall Park Community in Seaside,  Calif. From 2000 to 2001 she had been a volunteer in a faith-based after-school program at Cumberland United Methodist Church of which she was a member. She worked for the Waffle House in Fayetteville.

Laura married Tony Rodriguez on Feb. 14, 1987 in Palestine. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Laura is survived by her husband, Tony Rodriguez of Fayetteville, N.C.; parents, Robert Lloyd and Martha Rhyne of Palestine; daughter, Megan Marie-Phoenix Rodriguez of Fayetteville, N.C.; son, Robert Anthony-Rhyne Rodriguez of Fayetteville, N.C.; stepsons, Benjamin Blake Coulter of Bogota,  Texas and Joshua Anthony Rodriguez of Houston; sister, Theresa Bambeck and husband Danny of Palestine; sister-in-laws, Ginger Chavez and Ginny Billeaud and husband Greg; brother, Robert "Robbie" Rhyne II of Holland,  Texas; brother-in-laws, Chris Chavez, Jay Rodriguez and Jeff Chavez and wife Sabrina; nieces, Jena Chavez, Mariana Rodriguez, Michelle Billeaud, Leslie Bambeck, Brooke Bambeck, Kristy Rhyne and Jennifer Rhyne; and nephews, Christian Chavez, Jeff Chavez, Cameron Chavez, Michael George Rodriguez and Bo Rhyne.

Pallbearers will be Dugan Woodard, Robert "Bo" Rhyne III, Kyle Betterton, Mike Pope, Tommy Bankston and Thomas "Bo" Bright.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
