Viola Hardgrave

Services for Viola Hardgrave, 90, of Palestine will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tom Loden officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Hardgrave died Thursday in Palestine.
She was born Jan. 22, 1914, in Smith County to Grady Thompson and Maude Townes Thompson.
Mrs. Hardgrave was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Texas Hairdresser and Cosmetology Association and owned and operated Hardgrave Beauty Shop. She also was a volunteer at the local hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, H.E. Hardgrave who died in 1969; and two sisters, Dorothy Louise Hazard and DeEdra Therrell.
Mrs. Hardgrave is survived by daughter, Susan Ingram and husband Tom of Elgin; sons, Melville Hardgrave and wife Carole of San Antonio and Larry Hardgrave and wife Vivian of Athens; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tony Rhone, Ray Shank, Kevin Seitz, Bobby Freeman, Corky Huffman and Hugh Summers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Burroughs and Bailey Summers.
Condolence calls will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family requests donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
Neville Schiller

Neville Schiller, 93, of Elkhart died Thursday in Tyler. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
He was born Aug. 3, 1910 in St. Joseph, Mo. to Wilbert Hubert and Maud Schiller.
Mr. Schiller was member of Cedar Bayou Methodist Church in Baytown. He served in the Army during World War Ii and before retiring owned and operated a carpet business in the Houston-Baytown area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lois Mae Schiller; brothers, Frederic and Martin Schiller; and sister, Lois.
Mr. Schiller is survived by his wife, Ollie Schiller of Palestine; daughter, Charlotte Rucker and husband James of Elkhart; sister-in-law, Aida Schiller of Skidmore, Mo.; nieces, Sarah Batesel and Frederica Long; grandchildren, Brian Rucker and wife Krispen and Nathan Rucker; and one great-grandchild, Camryn Rucker.
Family requests memorials be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4101 University Blvd.., Tyler, Texas 75701.
Joe Lee Humphrey

Services for Joe Lee Humphrey, 77, of Elkhart will be held at 1 p.m. today in Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. W. Lynn Stroud and the Rev. Garry Wallace officiating.
Mr. Humphrey died Wednesday at his home.
He was born Jan. 7, 1927 in Clarendon to John Calhoun Humphrey and Charity Lee Jones Humphrey.
Mr. Humphrey served in the Army during World War II. He was a self-employed master carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Kathy and Pauline Humphrey.
Mr. Humphrey is survived by his wife, Jonnie Humphrey of Elkhart; daughters, Linda Shimek and husband Jimmy of Bay City, Sue Richardson and husband Bennie of Pasadena, Connie Skaines and husband Ray of League City, and Kay Stroud and husband Lynn of Montalba; sisters, Billie Gibson of Springfield, Mo. and Eva Wallace and husband C.L. of Palestine; brother, Jerome Humphrey and wife Beverly of Pampas; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Margaret M. "Peggy" Yeast

Graveside services for Margaret M. "Peggy" Yeast will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Roselawn Park with the Rev. Scott Dornbush officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mrs. Yeast was born in Duluth, Minn. and raised in Springfield, Mo. She and her husband resided in Palestine from 1953 to 1967 and returned in 1981 to live in the area until their recent relocation to a retirement community in Arlington.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Yeast worked in the area as a nurse and X-ray technician. Two pastimes Mrs. Yeast enjoyed in her retirement was square dancing and playing bridge.
Mrs. Yeast is survived by her husband Kenneth Yeast; and her two daughters, Barbara Sandifer of Palestine and Cindy Yeast of Washington D.C. She also is survived by three grandchildren, Kim Livesay of Kansas City, Kan., Rebecca Conwell of Chula Vista, Calif. and Philip Sandifer of Olympia, Wash.; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Family condolences will be received after 1 p.m. today at the home of Janice Bedre Burris at 106 Nanny Lane.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in her honor to the American Heart Association.

Mrs. Webb died Saturday morning in Fairfield.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday.

Services for Roy Fountain, 64, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Palestine City Cemetery's New Addition with Rev. Mike Davis officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Fountain went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday. He was surrounded by his family.
He was born on Feb. 13, 1940 in Frederick, Okla. to William E. Fountain and Violet Hardiman Fountain.
Mr. Fountain was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Tyler, a Master Mason and member of Palestine Lodge No. 31 A.F. & A.M., a Master Barber, a veteran of the U.S. Army, owner of his own trucking company and had retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Law Library Supervisor. He also had a degree in accounting and a degree in criminal justice.
He was preceded in death by his father William Fountain; brothers, Joe and James Fountain; and sister, Oleta Kinute.
Mr. Fountain is survived by his wife and beloved friend of 24 years, Carolyn Fountain of Palestine; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Tina Fountain of Corsicana, daughter and son-in-law Tracy and Jerry Ramirez of Tennessee Colony; sister and brother-in-law Pauline and Frank Leavitt of Tyler; brother and sister-in-law Sam and Judy Fountain of Dallas; grandchildren, Tabitha, Brook, Jordan, Stormy-D, and Joshua Fountain and Jordan and Avery Ramirez.

Sammie Viola Cretsinger

Services for Sammie Viola Cretsinger, 90, of Athens, and formerly of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Pentecostal Church of Athens with the Rev. O.L. Davis officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Broyles Chapel Cemetery in Palestine.
Mrs. Cretsinger died Feb. 15.
She was born in Sept. 9, 1913 in Powell and was the last surviving of seven siblings born to Samuel and Viola Benson.
Mrs. Cretsinger and her late husband, Tommie Cretsinger, were former residents of Palestine where they owned and operated Cretsingers Meat Market. After retirement, they moved to Athens where Mrs. Cretsinger was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church. She was an avid reader, and still enjoyed playing games with her family.
She is survived by daughter, Joann Rushing and her husband J.L of Athens; grandsons, Raymond Smith of Whitesboro and Joel Rushing of Athens; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.
Jessie Price Burnett Bishop

Services for Jessie Price Burnett Bishop, 93, of Channelview, and formerly of Grapeland, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Grapeland. Burial will follow in Elkhart Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Bishop died Saturday at her residence.
She was born June 4, 1910, in Houston County, to Albert Price and Polly Walling Price.
Mrs. Bishop was a member of First Baptist Church of Grapeland and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Bishop, in 1976; sisters, Addie Lovett and Viola Hendon; and brothers, Leathard Price, Woodard Price, Willie Price and Charley Price; and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by daughters, Shirley Kirkland and husband J.W. of Channelview, Rita Madeley and husband Walter of Corpus Christi and Jean Ballard of Channelview; stepdaughter, Linda Harrison and husband Ralph of Houston; sons, W.A. Burnett and wife Shirley Ann of Waldron, Ark.; and Buck Burnett of Palestine; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Robert Streetman, Jeffery Madeley, Ray Price, Gary Burnett, Charley Burnett and Robert Wood. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Wagnone, Bubba Savoic, Rodney Piecznski, Tim Howell and Ralph Harrison.

Services for Dorothy W. Stone, 73, of Jacksonville, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Meador Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Treend officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home of Jacksonville.
Mrs. Stone died Sunday in Jacksonville.
She was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Turney.
Mrs. Stone was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ruby Woodell; and granddaughter, Jennifer Stone.
Mrs. Stone is survived by her husband, Richard Stone of Jacksonville; sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Denise Stone of Jacksonville, David and Dona Stone of Tyler, Paul and Abby Stone of Bullard; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Larry Brown of Jacksonville; sister, Fran Treend of Lake Conroe; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her son, Paul Stone, is the associate editor for the Palestine Herald-Press and worked previously as a sports writer at the Tyler Morning Telegraph.
Special acknowledgments go to caregiver Dean Cooper and physician Dr. Alfonzo Saade, both of Jacksonville.
Memorials may be made to HOPE or to the Building Fund of First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville.
