Services for Fred David "Dave" Marler, 60, of Tyler were scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Mark Price officiating. Burial will follow in New Addition Annex Cemetery.

Mr. Marler was born June 13, 1943 in Palestine to Fred and Virginia Lavonne Andrews Marler.

He was an insurance salesman and served in the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Marler was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by sons Jeffrey D. Marler of Houston and Paul Marler of New Braunfels; brother, Douglas Marler of Gillette, Wyo.; grandchildren, Kirsten Marler, Ryan Marler, and Sydney Marler.

Clemmie Carrico

Mrs. Carrico died this morning at East  Texas Medical Center in Athens.

Elmore Robinson

Services for Elmore Robinson Sr., 70, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at South Union Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Myron Waddle officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Mr. Robinson died Sunday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Laura Bernice Raines Palmquist

Services for Laura Bernice Raines Palmquist, 83, of Palestine will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mrs. Palmquist died Saturday at Palestine Health Care Center.

She was born Oct. 23, 1920 in Bells,  Texas to Alfred Claudie and Nanna Pearl Langston Kite.

Mrs. Palmquist was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palestine. She was a nurse at Memorial Hospital in Palestine for 25 years. After retiring she worked part time at Cartmell Home for Aged.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Lavelle Raines; daughter-in-law, Mary Jenice Raines; and sister, Audrey May.

Mrs. Palmquist is survived by her husband, Cyrus Palmquist of Palestine; daughter, Kay Burney and husband John of Palestine; stepdaughter, Gayle Woolverton of Palestine; stepsons, Bill Palmquist and wife Chris of Flower Mound, Mark Palmquist and wife Nancy of Fairfield; brothers, Perry Kite and wife Thelma of Garland, Eldon Kite and wife Peggy of Houston; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, John Burney Jr., Heath Burney, Sherman Shewbirt, Paul Shewbirt, Eric Woolverton and Josh Woolverton.

Condolence calls will received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Martha Lucille Walding

Martha Lucille Walding, 85, of Houston went to be with her Lord Dec. 27, 2003. She was born March 15, 1918 in Navarro County to John and Ada Goodman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. "Bill"; and children, Shirley and Larry.

Mrs. Walding is survived by her sons and their wives, Jerry and Rusty, Bobby and Sue, Jim and Harriet, and David and Terri Walding. She also is survived by her son, Mark; daughters, Melba Ferrell and Margaret Callaway, and husband Bob. Lucille is also survived by her brother, Alton Goodman; and numerous loving grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephew.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Neches with Pastor Charles Grasty officiating. Funeral arrangements by Thompson Funeral Home, Frankston.

Lynn Ada Grounds

Services for Lynn Ada Grounds, 94, of Fairfield were at 3:30 p.m. today at Fairfield Cemetery with the Rev. Eston Turner officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel of Fairfield.

Mrs. Grounds died Saturday in Fairfield.

Services for Ella V. Gaston will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Union Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Union Hope Cemetery in Elkhart under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.

Oleta Caskey

Services for Louie Oleta Caskey, 86, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Parker Cemetery in Grapeland with the Rev. Gary Luker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.

Mrs. Caskey died Saturday in Norther Oaks Nursing Home in Abilene.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford, Abilene,  Texas, 79605.

Erma Lee Woodard

Services for Erma Lee Woodard, 91, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at E.E. Wheat (Butler) Community Center in Oakwood. Burial will follow in the Pine Top Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Woodard died Dec. 27 at East  Texas Medical Center in Fairfield.

Vernon Mitchell

Services for Vernon Mitchell, 75, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Evangelistic Temple with Dr. Barry Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Mitchell died Saturday in a local nursing home.

He was born Aug. 5, 1928 in Percilla to Bennie Mitchell and Willie Coleman Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Evangelistic Temple Church and the Augusta Masonic Lodge. He was a rancher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Gale; sisters, Benola Daniels and Leota Mitchell; and brothers, Porter Mitchell and Harold Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by daughters, Verna Jean Nall and Jennifer Wallace, both of Tennessee Colony, Denise Gilliam of Palestine, Beth Maeker of Lubbock and Cindy Lanier of Stephenville; son, Benny Mitchell of Palestine; sisters, Leona Dickey of Percilla and Flora Mae  Jones of Rusk; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, James Robert Vincent, Jake Holiday, William Riker, Matthew Riker, Ryan Maeker and Jeremy Lanier. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Lanier and Payton Wallace.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Cecil West

Services for Cecil Clarence West, 89, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Court Drive Church of Christ with Glen Cogburn of Tyler and Danny Sidders of Palestine officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction Herrington/Land of Memory.

Mr. West departed the earth on Saturday afternoon from his home.

He was born July 28, 1914 in Montalba to Thomas J and Ona West.

In May 1972, Mr. West retired from Exxon after 37 years of service and returned home to Palestine.

His retirement years were filled with beekeeping, gardening, woodworking and many civic activities, but the most important time to him was devoted service to God and his family.

Mr. West is survived by he devoted wife of 67 years, Louise; daughter, Kathryn of Palestine; son, Bob and wife Emily of Palestine; sister, Ruby and husband Eldred Smith of Longview; granddaughters, Marie and husband James Hoke of McKinney and Katie and husband Walter Presley of Austin; grandsons, Robert and wife Jennifer of Waco, and  Jefferson of Palestine; great-granddaughter, Madelynn of Waco; great-grandson Kyler of Waco; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Robert and  Jefferson West, James Hoke, Howard Gambrell, Melvin Gambrell and Kenneth Gambrell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Pickle, Monroe Kelley, Archie Waldrum, Dan Stoldt, Jess Stringham, Jimmy Cook, Mike Wilkinson, Dean French, Ken Brewer, Bill Brewer, J.L. Parkman and Dale Sparks.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Court Drive Church of Christ Food Bank or a charity of choice.

Ruth Ann Pool

Services for Ruth Ann Pool, 58, of Palestine will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis with the Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Miss Pool died Sunday at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

She was born Dec. 31, 1945, in Ennis to John and Ruth Bergner Pool.

Miss Pool was reared in Ennis and was a graduate of Ennis High School. She then attended East  Texas State University where she received her Masters in English. In 2002, she retired from Westwood High School in Palestine. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Palestine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Jim Pool.

Miss Pool is survived by an aunt, Gladys Bergner of Fredricksburg; cousins, Billie Harrell of Fredricksburg and Richard Gillette of Chicago.

Pallbearers will be Rick Williams, Barry Williams, Michael Williams, Joe Buirhead, Roland Haley and Joe Walker.
