Neylan Frank Emert
March 19, 1929 — July 29, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Neylan Frank Emert, 71, of Madisonville are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bedias Baptist Church in Bedias.

The Rev. Jerald Brown of the Bedias Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Madisonville City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.

Mr. Emert died Saturday.

He was born in the Elwood Community at Midway and had lived in Madisonville since 1987. He formerly lived in Houston, where he worked for Texaco for 35 years. He was a member of the Bedias Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and deacon and worked with fellowship and in the kitchen.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Lynn Emert.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Emert of Madisonville; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Charlotte Kay Steinecke and fiance, Bud Nichols, and Nancy Ann and David Harris, all of Madisonville, Janice Sue and Mike Myers of Honduras and Mary Nita and Bennie Schovajsa of Tomball, Texas; four brothers, Nolan Emert of Madisonville, Coy Emert of Waco, Jack Emert of Round Rock, Texas, and Wayne Emert of Houston; three sisters, Vivian Hardwick of Sweeny, Texas, Linnie Mae Stone and Joann Jones, both of Madisonville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Davie Lynn Fain
Jan. 22, 1955 — July 30, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Davie Lynn Fain, 45, of Madisonville are set for 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville.

The Rev. J.W.L. Adams will officiate.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Fain died Sunday.

She was born in Madisonville and was a lifelong resident of Madison County. She was a cosmetologist for many years and was a correctional officer for T.D.C. at the time of her death. She was a member of the Mesquite Hill Baptist Church in Madisonville.

Survivors include her husband, Lee H. Fain of Madisonville; her parents, Garvin Sr. and Billie Shiflet of Rockland, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles David and Angie Yargo of Madisonville; a daughter and son-in-law, Jenna Kay and John Matthew Hicks of Conroe, Texas; a brother, Garvin Shiflet Jr. of Rockland; and a sister, Linda Mary Shiflet of Madisonville.

Anna Ferguson
Feb. 27, 1931 — July 29, 2000

Memorial services for Anna Ferguson, 69, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Callaway-Jones Chapel in Bryan.

The Rev. Nicolas R.D. Dyke, rector of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Bryan, will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Bluff Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Ark.
Mrs. Ferguson died Saturday at her home.

She was born in Pine Bluff and had lived in Bryan for 33 years. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. She held a master’s degree and was a chemist for Texas A&M University before her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ferguson II.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles III and Lisa Ferguson of Kingwood, Texas; a brother, Vern McClennan of Lufkin, Texas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marijon and Joe Bufalini of Cary, N.C., and Betty and Duffy Carter of Fayetteville, Ark.; and a grandchild.

Bob B. Whitten
July 13, 1920 — July 29, 2000

TEXARKANA, Texas — Services for Bob B. Whitten, 80, of Hooks, Texas, are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Fuqua-Everett Memorial Chapel of the Texarkana Funeral Home in Texarkana.

The Revs. James Sparks and Roy Ford will officiate. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Whitten died Saturday in a Texarkana hospital.

He was born in Madisonville and had lived in Hooks for many years. He formerly lived in Bryan. He was retired from the Red River Army Depot and was a member and past president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees No. 1339. He was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Whitten of Hooks; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Whitten of Texarkana and Bill and Marilyn Whitten of Hooks; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Steve Sparks of Hooks; a brother, Edward Whitten of Bedford, Texas; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hooks Building Fund or to the American Diabetes Association, 12770 Merritt Drive, Suite 115A, Dallas, Texas 75251.

Marjorie Mosley Williams
March 12, 1910 — July 30, 2000

MADISONVILLE — Services for Marjorie Mosley Williams, 90, of North Zulch are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Willow Hole Chapel in North Zulch.

The Rev. Dwayne Mallett of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Hole Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at J.M. Day Funeral Home in Madisonville.
Mrs. Williams died Sunday.

She was a lifelong resident of the North Zulch area. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 531 in North Zulch.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe E. Williams; and a son, Billy Joe Williams.

Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Mildred Mosley, Velma Williams and Audry Longino; a granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; six nieces; three nephews; and numerous cousins.

Jack Thomas Sloan
June 29, 1912 — July 29, 2000

Services for Jack Thomas Sloan, 88, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Mr. Sloan died Saturday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Huntington, W. Va., and had lived in Bryan for 60 years. He was a 1934 graduate of Texas A&M University, with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural administration and a master’s degree in rural sociology and was the 1934 class agent. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from the Army Reserves as a Lt. Colonel. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Kiwanis Club and the Civil War Round Table. He worked at the Texas A&M Agricultural Extension Service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Sloan.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Daisy and John White of Houston; a brother, William Sloan of Bartlesville, Okla.; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, the American Diabetes Association or the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation.

Courtney Elizabeth Brymer
May 25, 1977 — July 29, 2000

Services for Courtney Elizabeth Brymer, 23, of College Station are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Bible Church in College Station.

The Rev. Dwight Edwards of Grace Bible Church will officiate. Burial will be in College Station Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel-College Station.

Miss Brymer died Saturday in Clarendon, Texas, as a result of an auto accident.

She was born in Bryan and was a lifelong resident of College Station. She graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1995, where she was in Bengal Belles and was a student ambassador with the Sister Cities program and traveled to Kazan, Russia, her junior year. She attended Blinn College and Sam Houston State University and studied sociology at Texas A&M University during the summer. She worked with junior and senior high school students for five years at First Baptist Church in College Station and was a member of Grace Bible Church.

Survivors include her parents, Tom and Christel Brymer of College Station; a sister, Casey Brymer of College Station; a brother, Justin Brymer of College Station; grandparents, Ed and Phyllis Brymer of Gilmer, Texas, and Wilhelm Strohmeier of Arlington Heights, Ill.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the Courtney Brymer Memorial Scholarship Fund at First American Bank, 711 University Drive, College Station, Texas 77840.

Gary V. Button
May 25, 1957 — July 28, 2000

Services for Gary V. Button, 43, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

The Rev. Ray Marshall of Reliance Baptist Church in Bryan will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Button died Friday at his home.

He was born in New Berlin, N.Y., and had lived in College Station since 1971. He was owner and operator of the Collision Center in Bryan.

Survivors include a son, Vincent Allen Button of Bryan; two daughters, Kelcie Nicole Button and Danielle Elise Button, both of Bryan; his parents, Beverly Cain of Bryan and Arthur Button of Tampa, Fla.; his stepfather, Lee G. Widdison Sr. of Bryan; his stepmother, Janet Button of Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Marsha Doran of Bryan, Patti Holiskey of Blackshear, Ga., and Jerri Kay Welch of Annapolis, Md.; a step-brother, L. Gordon Widdison Jr. of Bryan; two stepsisters, Mary Joe Chappell and Susan Marie Hartzog, both of Bryan; his grandmother, Virginia Button of New Berlin, N.Y.; a nephew; and two nieces.

Memorials may be made to the Gary V. Button Children’s Trust Fund at Wells Fargo Bank.

Maurine E. Dougan
Dec. 6, 1913 — July 30, 2000

CAMERON — Services for Maurine E. Dougan, 86, of Cameron are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.
The Rev. Dan Darby will officiate. Burial will be in String Prairie Cemetery near Calvert.
Mrs. Dougan died Sunday in a Cameron nursing facility.

She was born in Milam County and was a longtime member of the Calvert Methodist Church and a current member of the First United Methodist Church of Cameron. She was the bookkeeper at Calvert Auction for many years and later was a nurse at Calvert, Hearne and Colonial Nursing Homes for 33 years. She was a member of the Texas Federation of Women and the Order of the Eastern Star in Calvert.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Dougan.

Survivors include a sister, Elma E. Anderson of Cameron; two nieces; three nephews; a great-niece; and five great-nephews.

Verna K. Glowski
Jan. 12, 1912 — July 30, 2000

BREMOND — Services for Verna K. Glowski, 88, of Bremond are set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond.

The Rev. Celso Yu of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bremond Funeral Home in Bremond.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home by the Rev. John McCaffrey of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan.

Mrs. Glowski died Sunday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was a lifelong resident of Bremond and was a homemaker. She was retired from the Swift Turkey Plant in Marlin and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the St. Mary’s Rosary Society and the St. Joseph’s Polish National Alliance.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Glowski.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Herman and Kristi Glowski of Judsonia, Ark.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Raymonda and Stanley Ewaniak of Mesquite, Texas, Gertrude and Jim Matula of Dallas, Sylvia and Robert Kruse of Bryan and Beatrice and David Johnson of Chilton, Texas; a brother, Frank Budzisz of Hearne; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Cecilia Glowski of Bremond, Patranella and Antone Wilganowski of Bryan and Gertrude and Ralph Barslowe of Houston.

Beulah Gay Gunter
Dec. 12, 1925 — July 30, 2000

CALDWELL — Services for Beulah Gay Gunter, 74, of Caldwell are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Caldwell.

The Rev. Steve Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Gunter died Sunday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Leesville, Texas, and lived in Caldwell for one year. She formerly lived in Amarillo for 36 years and was a teacher. She was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo, where she worked in the church nursery, and was a current member of the First Baptist Church in Caldwell. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Amarillo.

Survivors include her husband, J.B. Gunter of Caldwell; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Jim Burton of Whispering Pines, N.C., Shellie and Kevin Sims of Dallas and Diane and Randy Brown of College Station; a son, Russell Gunter of North Little Rock, Ark.; seven sisters and five brothers-in-law, Nancy B. Simpson of Luling, Texas, Joice Davidson of Cameron, Bertha May and S.G. Rogers and Alene and Clifford Lohse, all of Nixon, Texas, Velma and Charles Brown of Karnes City, Texas, Darlene and Thomas Royal and Shirley and James Bohanan, all of Caldwell; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Jessie and Nena Harden of Premont, Texas, Amos and Imogene Harden of Kenedy, Texas, Joseph and Edith Harden of Amarillo, Billy and Eunice Harden of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Donald and Connie Harden of Houston; a sister-in-law, Melba Harden of Pasadena, Texas; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Curtis Perry Jr.
Feb. 6, 1963 — July 30, 2000

Services for Curtis Perry Jr., 37, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ruby’s Chapel of Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

The Rev. Fred G. Ford of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Perry died Sunday at his home.

He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and was a laborer. He attended Bryan High School and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his mother, Ruby Mae Perry of Bryan; a brother, Larry Perry of Bryan; and three sisters, Tammy Perry, Linda Perry and Alfreda Perry, all of Bryan.
