MADISONVILLE — Services for Marcus Odell Burross, 89, of Madisonville are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville.
Ralph Carter will officiate. Burial will be in the Dodge Cemetery in Dodge, Texas.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Burross died Saturday in Madisonville.
He was born in Dodge, Texas, and had lived in Madisonville for three years. He formerly lived in Huntsville, Texas. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Huntsville and was a carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Bailey Burross.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Frances Burross of Huntsville and Jo Ann and Thomas Adams of Madisonville; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Jerry Dwayne Campise
Feb. 23, 1965 — May 6, 2000
HOUSTON — Graveside services for Jerry Dwayne Campise, 35, of Houston are set for at 2 p.m. May 13 at Henry Prairie Church in Franklin.
The Rev. Joe Riley of Bryan will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pat H. Foley Funeral Directors in Houston.
Mr. Campise died Saturday in Seattle, Wash.
He was born in Madisonville and lived in Houston most of his life.
Survivors include his parents, Janace and Jim Lefevre and Frank and Rose Campise, all of Houston; two brothers, Frank Randall Campise and Randall Allen Lefevre, both of Houston; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Laura Dianne and Scott Boughton of Garland, Texas, Tammie and Arvis Guimbellott of Houston and Tina Louise Campise of Lake Charles, La.; and two nephews.
Minnie Jensen
Jan. 19, 1908 — May 5, 2000
BRENHAM — Services for Minnie Jensen, 92, of Brenham are set for 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Friedens Church of Washington U.C.C. in Brenham.
The Rev. Jack Harrison will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .
Arrangements are under the direction of Brenham Memorial Chapel in Brenham.
Miss Jensen died Friday in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born in The Bluffs of Washington and was a homemaker and quilt maker and formerly lived in Washington. She was a member of Friedens Church of Washington U.C.C., where she was a member of the Women’s Fellowship and was a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include two brothers and a sister-in-law, Melvin Jensen and Bennie O. and Willie Mae Jensen, all of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Friedens Church memorial fund.
Romney Leon ‘R.L.’ Legate
Dec. 18, 1915 — May 4, 2000
FRANKLIN — Services for Romney Leon “R.L.” Legate, 84, of Franklin are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at the Franklin United Methodist Church in Franklin.
Chuck Weber of Franklin will officiate. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Blair-Stubbs-McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.
Mr. Legate died Thursday in Franklin.
He was born in Alton, Ill., and had lived in Franklin since 1975, having previously lived in Houston. He was retired from Texas Instruments after 30 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Methodist.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Legate.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Jim Hawker of Camp Creek and Sherle and Jack Kovack of Fort Worth; a sister, Faye Pollock of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Joe C. Matcek
July 1, 1924 — May 4, 2000
CALDWELL — Services for Joe C. Matcek, 75, of Manchaca, Texas, are set for 4 p.m. Sunday at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell.
The Rev. Henry Beseda will officiate. Burial will be in the New Tabor Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Matcek died Thursday at his home.
He was born in the Volney community of Burleson County and was a retired bookbinder. He was a member of the Austin Masonic Lodge, the Austin Scottish Rite Ben Hur Shrine Temple, the Austin Rifle Club and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Ruth Matcek.
Survivors include two sisters, Elsie Matcek and Caroline Matcek, both of Caldwell; and numerous cousins.
Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Niezak

Graveside services for Colonel Nicholas “Nicky” Niezak, 79, of College Station are set for 2:30 p.m. Monday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.
Col. Niezak died Friday in College Station Medical Center.
He was born in Beaumont, Texas, and had lived in College Station for 25 years. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was in charge of the Air Force Jr. R.O.T.C. for Bryan High School. He was a member of the Bryan Night Time Lions Club and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Merrell Niezak of College Station; a son, Ricky Niezak of College Station; and a brother, Jerry Niezak of Beaumont, Texas.
Lyle E. Parker Jr.

WACO — Services for Lyle E. Parker Jr., 53, of Bryan and Waco are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Connally/Compton Funeral Home in Waco.

Mr. Parker died Friday.
He was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, and worked for the Waco Tribune and The Bryan-College Station Eagle as Production Director. He coached Li:ttle League baseball, softball and soccer and collected John Deere tractors.
Survivors include his fiancé, Deborah Key and her children, Melissa Key and Jason Key, all of Waco; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Heath Hoherty of Goldwaite, Texas; a son, Jay Parker of Bryan; his mother, Maxine Walraven of Wichita Falls; his father and step-mother, Lyle and Beatrice Parker of Billings, Mont.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Glen and Jan Parker of Lancaster, Kevin and Debbie Parker and Joel Parker, all of Billings; a sister, Tamara Barnes of Helena, Mont.; a grandson; three nieces; two nephews; and numerous other relatives.

BREMOND — Services for Bill D. Vickrey, 92, of Bremond are set for 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Bremond.

Mr. Vickrey died Friday in Falls Community Hospital.
He was born in Kosse, Texas, and was retired from Exxon in Baytown, Texas, in 1970. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Bremond Masonic Lodge No. 350 and was a member and past worshipful master of the Goose Creek Lodge in Baytown. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bremond, where he was a deacon and financial secretary.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Vickrey of Bremond; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Lewis Irons of Baytown; and a sister-in-law, Cecil Allen of Bremond.
Lyle E. ‘Butch’ Parker Jr.

Charles Benny Jones

Services for Charles Benny Jones, 60, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Jones died Saturday at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Bryan and was a retired plumber supervisor with Garrett Mechanical. He was a member of the Plumbers Local 68 Group for 32 years and was active in Little League East. He was a member of Reliance Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Kindt Jones of Bryan; a son, Michael Wayne Jones of Bryan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Robert Crouch of Harker Heights, Texas, and Michelle and Paul Wood of San Antonio; a sister, Jean Jones Beckman of Richardson, Texas; his father, Charles R. Jones of Bryan; and two granddaughters.
Morie ‘Moky’ Engelke
June 6, 1926 — May 4, 2000
CAMERON — Services for Morie “Moky” Engelke, 73, of Flagstaff, Ariz., and formerly of Cameron are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.
The Rev. Robert Glenn will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Waco Memorial Park in Waco.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Engelke died Thursday in a Flagstaff hospital.
She was a member of the Grace Fellowship in Flagstaff and was a former member of the Cameron Gospel Tabernacle. She was retired from the hotel and apartment management business and also did audits for Circle K.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Engelke.
Survivors include a son, Joe Engelke of Flagstaff; a sister, Charline Traylor of Waco; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
