Services for Margie Louise Pennington, 63, of Kingsville will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church of Kingsville with the Rev. Chuck Miller officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Flat Prairie Cemetery in Travis County under the direction of Turcotte-Piper Mortuary of Kingsville.

Mrs. Pennington died Friday in Kingsville.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Brian RaShawn Cooper

Services for Brian RaShawn Cooper, 16 months, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at South Union Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery in Montalba. Arrangements are under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.

Infant Cooper died Saturday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 16, 2002 in Palestine to Brian Patrick Cooper and Gravernet Roshaun Durham.

Infant Cooper was enrolled in the Kacey's Kids Day Care and Home of Love Day Care.

He is survived by his parents; sisters, Ashley Durham of Palestine and William and Linda Cooper of Henderson; great-grandparents, J.C. and Jean Cox of Fairfield and Taz Durham of Oakwood.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Emanuel Funeral Home.

Bertha Taylor

Funeral arrangements for Bertha Taylor, 100, of Tyler and formerly of Palestine, are pending at Mercy/McGowan Funeral Home.

Mrs.  Taylor died Friday at Colonial Manor Nursing Center in Tyler.

Christopher Taylor

Funeral arrangements for Christopher Taylor, 20, are pending at McCoy Funeral Home.

Mr.  Taylor died this morning at Hospice of East  Texas in Tyler.

Brian RaShawn Cooper

Services for Brian RaShawn Cooper, 16 months old, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at South Union Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery in Montalba under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home of Palestine.

The toddler died Saturday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Manly R. Mabry

Services for Manly R. Mabry, 85, of Fairfield will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Flowers officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel of Fairfield.

Mr. Mabry died Sunday in Corsicana.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Shelby Green

Services for Shelby Leo Green Jr., 39, of Tennessee Colony, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Evangelistic Temple with Dr. Barry Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Tennessee Colony Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mr. Green died Thursday in Anderson County.

He was born Sept. 11, 1963, in Conroe to Shelby L. Green Sr. and Nellie R. Ballard Green.

Mr. Green had lived in Anderson County for 23 years. He was a Catholic and had been employed by the Anderson County Sheriff's Department for 10 years, nine of those in full-time capacity. For 5 1/2 years, he served on the Dogwood Trails Narcotics Task Force and at the time of his death was working as a sheriff's investigator. He had received the "Award of Valor" from the Drug Enforcement Administration for his work as an undercover narcotics agent. Prior to coming to the sheriff's department, Green had been employed by the  Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the National Scientific Balloon Facility.

He also had served as a member of the Cayuga Independent School District's Board of Trustees and a member of the Tennessee Colony Volunteer Fire Department. He was actively involved in the restructuring of the Tennessee Colony VFD.

Mr. Green was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Diane Green; sons, Stephen Green, Shelby Green III and Scott Green; and mother, Nellie Green, all of Tennessee Colony; and brothers, Carl Green of Abilene and Randy Green of Conroe.

Pallbearers will be Brenda Gray, Gerald Kerr, Steve Slater, Greg Taylor, Tammy Lightfoot and Chuck Franklin.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Anderson County Sheriff's Department; Palestine Police Department investigators; and Assistant Police Chief Mike Medders.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Tennessee Colony Improvement Association.

Jerry Pharis
5-16-2003
Services for Jerry Pharis, 38, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. Ricky and Terry Smith and family officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Pharis died Wednesday in Hospice Home Place in Tyler after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 20, 1964 in Palestine to the Rev. Johnny Pharis and Velma Crutcher Pharis.

Mr. Pharis was a Christian and had lived in Palestine all his life. He was a graduate of Palestine High School. He had worked 18 years as a driller in the oil field industry.

He is survived by his wife, Felicia Annette Pharis; twins, Dustin Neal Pharis and Hattie LaShell Pharis; parents; sisters, Pam Taylor, Elizabeth Harris and Cindy Callaway; and grandmother, Thelma Crutcher, all of Palestine.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Callaway, Brandon Harris, Greg Taylor, David Crutcher, Ricky Farmer, Bryan Mersiovsky, Kenny Lyons and Kelly Moore.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Holmes, Richard Hand and Billy Morton.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Rand F. Ivins
5-16-2003
Services for Rand F. Ivins, 70, of Neches will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Neches with the Rev. Charles Grasty officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Ivins died Wednesday at the VA Hospital in Temple.

He was born June 7, 1932 in Anderson County to Walter William and Mary Alma Roe Ivins.

Mr. Ivins was a member of the First Baptist Church of Neches. He was employed with the Houston Lighting & Power for almost 20 years before returning to Neches. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ethylene Griffith, Alene Walding and Iris Tingle; and brothers, Wilford Ivins and J.R. Ivins.

Mr. Ivins is survived by sisters, Oleta Homan of  Louisiana and Wanda Porter of Houston; brothers, Hub Ivins of  Louisiana and Ewell Ivins of Nederland.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive condolence calls from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.

James Baker

Mr. Baker died Thursday at his residence.

Ramona Eddie Taylor

Ramona Eddie  Taylor was born Oct. 22, 1907 in Hope, Ark. to Edward and Lillie Brown Taylor.

He received his education in the Hope School District. He later graduated from Tyler Barber College in Tyler.

Mr.  Taylor received Christ at an early age. After arriving in Palestine he united with South Union Baptist Church. He later moved his membership to Smith Chapel Church of God in Christ.

He was in the cab business for over 30 years in Palestine, retiring in 1986.

Those preceding him in death were h is parents; son, Verlie C. Taylor; sisters, Vassie Lee Smith, Alma Perry and Emma Lee Lemon; brothers, J.T. Taylor, Otis  Taylor and Cleo Taylor.

His passing will be mourned by sisters, Grace  Jones of Detroit, Mich., Charlene McIntosh and Florence Delaney, both of Dayton, Ohio, Thelma Robinson of Little Rock, Ark.; nephews, J. McIntosh of Dayton, Ohio, Reginald Robinson and Renard Robinson, both of Little Rock; special friend, Espanola Wilson; special daughter, Cheryl Barrett (James); special grandchildren, Rena Wilson, Jasmine Swint and Brittany Swint, all of Palestine; special sister-in-law, Estella Ruth Akins (William Charles) of Austin; special brother-in-law, Eddie Lee Goree (Ealie) of Oakwood; special nieces, Dianne Akins Iglehart and Joyce Akins, both of Houston; special great-niece, Rena Olivia Iglehart of Houston; special great-nephew, Justin Charles Iglehart of Houston; and many other relatives and friends.

Services for Joe Odell Christian, 77, of Weatherford, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Palestine.

Mr. Christian died Tuesday at his residence.

He was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Prairie View.

Mr. Christian was a retired truck driver, a retired security guard for Wal-Mart, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Calvary Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene Christian.

Mr. Christian is survived by his wife, Nora Christian of Weatherford; sons, Wayne G. Christian of Murfreesboro, Tenn., the Rev. Garry Christian and wife Bertha of Belton, and David Joe Christian and wife Laurel of Conroe; stepchildren, Joann Livingston and husband Eddie of Colleyville, Vernon Harris and wife Lynda of Granbury, and David Harris and wife Charlotte of Azle; sisters, Betty June Gumm and husband Monroe of Brownwood, and Johnell Eiler and husband Vernon of Livingston.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
