AUSTIN — Services for Ben L. Parten Jr., 76, of the Driftwood Community are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Driftwood Community Church.
A reception will follow at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin.
Mr. Parten died Sunday.
He attended the University of Texas, served in the U.S. Army-Air Corps during World War II, returned to the University of Texas to receive his law degree, and practiced law in Franklin for many years. He was also a member of the San Marcos Fly Fishing Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha James Parten.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew B. and Glenna Parten; a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine James and Kenneth Murray; and a grandson.
Fannie Ethyl Whitehall
July 12, 1903 — March 21, 2000
CENTERVILLE —Services for Fannie Ethyl Whitehall, 96, of Robbins Community of Leon County are set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville.
The Rev. Larry Ashley of the First Baptist Church in Centerville will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Whitehall died Tuesday in a Crockett hospital.
She was born in the Redland Community, was a housewife and a Baptist.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Wilbur “Ozy” Whitehall of Grapeland, Texas, Bill and Lorene Whitehall of Trinity, Texas, and Don Whitehall of Dallas; a sister, Mobeta Kuykendall-Crockett; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two granddaughters-in-law, two grandsons-in-law; and two daughters-in-law, Edris Aschenbrener and Gay Lynn Bynum.
Marjorie Elizabeth Burkhalter
Oct. 18, 1919 — March 21, 2000
Services for Marjorie Elizabeth Burkhalter, 80, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
The Rev. Butch Smith of Living Hope Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Wellborn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Burkhalter died Tuesday at St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Kurten, Texas, was a retired nurse from St. Joseph Hospital, owned a day care after her retirement, and was a member of Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norton R. Burkhalter.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Avon and Wayne Langston of Ft. Worth, and Eunice Cornelius of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Almeta Burkhalter of Victoria, Texas; a sister, Sylvia Welch of College Station; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Robert Oliver Anderson
June 11, 1967 — March 18, 2000
Services for Robert Oliver Anderson, 32, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Bryan.
The Rev. Anthony Lang of West Union Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Wixon Creek Cemetery in Bryan.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Washington Mortuary.
A wake will be recited from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Anderson died Saturday in Galveston.
He was born in Bryan, was a certified nursing assistant and a member of 38th Street Church of God in Christ in Minnesota and attended West Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ingrid Bisor Anderson of Bryan; four sons, Robert Anderson Jr. of St. Paul, Minn., Melvin Nutall, Micah Nutall, and Myles Anderson, all of Bryan; two daughters, Kelli Anderson of Minneapolis, Minn., and Monisha Bisor of Bryan; four brothers, Rickey Randle of St. Paul, and Jessie Washington, Joshua Washington and Jordan Washington, all of Minneapolis; seven sisters , Lynette Harvey of St. Cloud, Minn., Bonita Randle, Laurece Harvey, Lisa Harvey, Quanda Moore, and Tonia Anderson, all of Minneapolis; his parents, Gladys Randle Anderson and Jessie and Diane Harvey Anderson, all of Minneapolis; his grandparents, Billy Oliver Anderson and Adolph and Thelma Johnson, all of Bryan; his mother-in-law, Velma Bisor Spivey of Bryan; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
George Avner Baldwin

MADISONVILLE —Services for George Avner Baldwin, 76, of Madisonville are set for 11 a.m. Friday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.The Rev. J.W.L. Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, the Addicks Addition, in Huntsville, Texas.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Baldwin died Saturday in Colorado.
He was born in West Columbia, Texas, was a self-employed accountant and a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville. He was also a member of the Masonic Forrest Lodge #19 in Huntsville where he was Past Master and a member of the Lion’s Club. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Baldwin.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, George “Andy” and Brenda Baldwin of Richmond, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret B. and Paul Thompson of Broomfield, Colo.; a brother, S.C. Baldwin of Pasadena, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

CAMERON — Services for Ben Goodwin Massengale, 94, of Cameron are set for 11 a.m. Friday in the Little River Baptist Church.
The Rev. James E. Lafferty will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery .
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.
Mr. Massengale died Tuesday at his home.
He was born in the Jones Prairie Community near Cameron and was a farmer and rancher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beaulah Corrine Massengale.Survivors include a son, Benny Massengale of Lexington, Texas; two daughters, Billie Jo White of Cameron and Barbara Rae Heitman of Rosenberg; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Harvey J. Walker

Services for Harvey J. Walker, 78, of Bryan are set for 3 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church in Bryan.

Mr. Walker died Tuesday at St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Denver, Colo., was an agronomist for Texas A&M University from 1955 until his retirement in 1985, he earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree at Texas A&M University, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Cropp Walker of Bryan; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ben and Jackie Ortega-Walker of Bryan, Ronald and Shelly Walker of San Diego, and James Walker of Houston; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles R. and Hilda Walker of Shamrock, Texas; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Hanhart

HEARNE — Services for Jacqueline “Jackie” Hanhart, 73, of Hearne are set for 4 p.m. Friday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.
Lloyd Martin of White River Ministries in Hearne will officiate. Burial will be in New Baden Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the services time Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hanhart died Tuesday in Hearne Health Care.
She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, was a homemaker and a Lutheran.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Doc” Hanhart.
Survivors include three daughters, Tonda Rushing of Bellville, Texas, Landa Mowery of Hearne and Kim Naranjo of Calvert; two sisters, Vickie Simmons of Columbus, Ohio, and Margie Perkins of Wheelersburg, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services for Marcelino Tigerina Ramirez Sr., 45, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan.
The Rev. John McCaffrey will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Chapel.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Ramirez died Thursday at St. Joseph Regional Heath Center.
He was born in Bryan, was a U.S. Army veteran, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member and coach of the Little League.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Ramirez of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Marcelino and Rosa Ramirez Jr. of Bryan; a daughter, Magdalena Ramirez of Bryan; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Felipe and Esther Ramirez, Daniel Ramirez, and Toby Ramirez, all of Bryan; seven sisters and three brothers-in-law, Connie and Jessie Bernal and Gloria Veracruz, all of Houston, Lydia Villereal of Pasadena, Texas, Janie and Lorenzo Jimenez, Felicita Ramirez, and Yolanda and Mike Byer, all of Bryan, and Rachel Salas of Ft. Worth; and three grandchildren.
