Ricki Ann Campbell
Ricki Ann Campbell, 55, of Denton died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Lake Forest Good Samaritan Village.
She was born May 5, 1946, in York, Pa., to Richard and Gloria Morris. She married James R. "Jim" Campbell on Dec. 30, 1970, in New London County, Conn.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Lutheran Church.
A memorial service will be in Florida at a later date. DeBerry Funeral Directors are in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband Jim Campbell Sr. of Denton; one son, Jim Campbell Jr. of Denton; her mother Gloria Morris of Fla.; and two sisters, Barbara Deakin of Florida and Kay Drescher of Maryland.
Jennee Lawhorn
Jennee Warren (Wright) Lawhorn, 91, of Denton died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 10, 1910, in Decatur to James Logan Wright and Alice Lucille Clements Wright. She graduated from North Texas State Teacher College, now the University of North Texas.
She married O.T. Lawhorn on Aug. 23, 1930, in Ardmore, Okla. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 2000.
Mrs. Lawhorn was a schoolteacher in Houston for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and the American Contract Bridge League. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Denton.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Rev. Marilyn Dickson will officiate. DeBerry Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Tuesday, for visitation.
Survivors include two sons, William S. Lawhorn of Dallas and Thomas W. Lawhorn of Colorado Springs, Colo., 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Bud Galler
Lewisville – Bud Galler, 80, of Lewisville died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at the Medical Center of Lewisville.
He was born Feb. 11, 1921, to Paul William and Lena M. Henry Galler. He married Reba Boren on Dec. 7, 1945, in Denton.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received the Who’s Who in Texas in 1973-1974 as a distinguished citizen of the State of Texas.
Mr. Galler was a plumber and heating and air-conditioning repairman.
He was a member of Flower Mound Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Northview Baptist Church in Lewisville. Interment will follow in Old Hall Cemetery. Rev. Kenneth Wells will officiate. Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home of Lewisville is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Reba of Lewisville; one son, Jerry Galler of Highland Village; one sister, Irene Greener of Lewisville; four grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Dr. Sidney E. Hodges
Dr. Sidney Edward Hodges, 77, of Denton died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth.
He was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Booneville, Miss., to Jimmy Lee and Mildred (Murphy) Hodges. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He received a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University, a master’s degree from East Texas State College and a doctorate in physics from Texas A&M University.
Dr. Hodges taught at ETSC, Stephen F. Austin College, and Howard Payne and Southeast Missouri State universities. On Nov. 2, 1981, he married Linda Susan Neal in Jackson, Mo.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Denton.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at the First Baptist Church. Cliff Feeler will officiate. Interment will be on Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. Goen-Hudgens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Edward Menkemeller
Edward Freeman Menkemeller, 66, of Denton died Friday, Sept. 28, at Zale Lipshy University Hospital in Dallas.
He was born Oct. 5, 1934, in Wheeling, W.Va., to Edward and Caroline Menkemeller. He graduated as a captain from Linsley military Institute in 1952. In 1957 he received a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from West Virginia University, where he was vice president of Scabbard and Blade. He was vice president of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers, and a member of the Society for the Advancement of Management, the Society of Nuclear Medicine, the Texas Hospital Association and active in Delta Tau Delta. He served in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant in Korea. In 1991 he married Gail Sweat Dillon in Denton.
Mr. Menkemeller was the founder, president and CEO of Numed Inc. in Denton and One Medical in Sherman.
He was a member of Southmont Baptist Church.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Southmont Baptist Church. Dr. Larry Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Wheeling, W.Va., under the direction of Kepner Funeral Home.
The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, for visitation.

Sanger – Charles E. Greenwood, 82, of Sanger died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, in Denton Community Hospital.

Lottie Mae R. Phillips
Decatur – Lottie Mae Reed Phillips, 103, of Decatur died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Sunny Hills Nursing Center in Decatur.
She was born March 22, 1898, in Wise County. She was a homemaker
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Decatur. Tad Billmire will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Decatur.
Mrs. Phillips’ grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors include one son, Carroll Reed; four daughters, Geneva Boyd of Archer City, Wilma Smith of Decatur, Cleva Nell Bunnell of Mineral Wells, and Virginia Renaker of Arlington; and several grandchildren.

Decatur – Mamie O. Schneider, 95, of Decatur died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at her home.

Daniel C. Thomas
Plano – Daniel Craig Thomas, 39, of Plano, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 1, 1962, in Houston. He attended Plano High School and graduated from Lake Highland High School. He attended Texas Tech University where he majored in hotel and restaurant management.
Mr. Thomas was employed as manager by Southern Multifoods Inc. Earlier he worked as a general manger for Red-Hot and Blue Barbecue, Chili’s and Tias Tex-Mex restaurants.
A service will be at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Sept. 30, at Oak Grove Methodist Church, one half mile south of Hwy 380 on FM720, east of Denton. The Rev. Martha Myer will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. DeBerry Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Judy and Vince Kilhullen of Mt. Home, Ark.; his father, William Thomas of Dallas; two daughters, Kathryn and Bailey Thomas, both of Denton; and four brothers, William Thomas of San Antonio, Wendell Thomas of Fort Collins, Colo., Brian Thomas of Spokane, Wash., and Blake Thomas of Sarasota, Fla.
Oreta Pearl Embry
Oreta Pearl Embry, 92, of Dallas, formerly of Denton, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, in Dallas at her daughter’s home.
Oreta was born Oct. 13, 1908, in Reed, Okla., to Alfred and Linnie Austin. She graduated from high school in St. Jo, Texas. She married Roy Embry on Feb. 7, 1930, in St. Jo; he preceded her in death in 1958.
Oreta was a wedding specialist for Linwood Roberson Florist prior to her retirement after 25 years of employment. She was active in the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Denton and was awarded a community service award for her exceptional service to community members. She was an avid reader in her later years. She was a former member of the Singing Oaks Church of Christ and currently attending the Walnut Hill Church of Christ in Dallas.
The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, for visitation. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Tim Pyles and Scott Self officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
Oreta is survived by a daughter, Jolene and husband Joseph Marcus of Dallas; three granddaughters, Caroline East of Charlottesville, Va., Leslie Favarel-Garriques of Bordeaux, France, and Emily Randle of Los Alamitos, Calif.; grandson, Joseph A. Marcus of Los Angeles, Calif.; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Sanger – Charles Edward Greenwood Jr., 82, of Sanger died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Denton Community Hospital.
He was born Feb. 17, 1919, in Gainesville to Charles E. and Elsie Giles (Speer) Greenwood. On Sept. 7, 1947, he married Grace Novella Gober in the Little-Chapel-in-the-Woods at Texas Woman’s University in Denton.
Mr. Greenwood served in the Air Force during World War II. He was a tool and die maker for L.T.V. for many years.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sanger.
The service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the First United Methodist Church in Sanger. The Rev. Larry Kruger will officiate. Interment will follow in Sanger Cemetery.
The family will be at the First United Methodist Church from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, for visitation.

Delbert E. Sprague
Sanger – Delbert Eugene Sprague, 67, of Sanger died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 22, 1933, in Wills Point.
Mr. Sprague was a self-employed machinist. He was a member of the Model A Club.
A service will be at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Sanger Church of Christ. John Payne will officiate. Burial will be in Sanger Cemetery. Coker Funeral Home of Sanger is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Beard, Lester Marshall, Jim Roberts, Michael Smith, James Stuart and Ken Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Jo Sprague of Sanger; his mother, Edna Sprague of Carrollton; two daughters, Amy Jo Bixby of Denton and Traci Holland of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two sisters, Shirley Stuart of Lubbock and Barbara Williams of Carrollton.
