She was a believer in Jesus Christ in the most saintly way and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Floydada. She and her husband Joe spent many years of their life ministering in various ways at the Gillespie Baptist Church in Knox County.
In her later years Opal was able to fulfill her dream to travel. She was able with the help of her family to travel from coast to coast and border to border. She savored her most recent travel - she had been able to go to the 50th Earp reunion where she was the 'matriarch,' just 10 days before her death.
By her testimony, Opal left this life without any regrets or unfinished business. There was not a single broken relationship in her life. Her slate was truly clean.
