Sanger - Douglas Payne, 60, of Sanger died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 29, 1940, in Wichita Falls.
Mr. Payne worked for Coker Funeral Home.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, in the chapel of Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. The Rev. Dewey Lang and Dr. E.L. McNeal will officiate. Burial will be in Sanger Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Bounds, Ronny Jones, Billy Ed Nance, Jim Reed, Sammy Ripper and Sammy Voss.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, July 24, for visitation.
Survivors include one daughter, Christal Rhoades; and two brothers, Bobby Payne and Kenneth Payne.
Mary Swindle
Mesquite - Mary Jewel Swindle, 84, of Mesquite, formerly of Collinsville, died Sunday, July 15, 2001, at her home in Mesquite.
She was born June 26, 1917 in Gunter, to James Nathan and Jessie Lola Wilson Skaggs. On. Feb. 9, 1935, she married Eber Swindle in Gainesville.
Mrs. Swindle was a homemaker.
She was a member of Elmont Baptist Church.
A service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, in the chapel of Flesher Funeral Home in Van Alstyne. Burial was in Collinsville Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of Mesquite; two daughters, Clova White of Mesquite and Carolyn Wampler of Scurry; one brother, Charles Skaggs of Van Alstyne; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
I. Beulah Greathouse
I. Beulah Greathouse, 87, of Denton died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at her home.
She was born June 23, 1914, in Jackson County, Kan.
Ms. Greathouse was a teacher.
The service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home.
Survivors include one brother, Roy Kern of Iola, Kan.; one granddaughter, Lisa Bracken of Denton; two grandsons, Dan Greathouse of Olathe, Kan., and Rick Greathouse of Corinth; and six great-grandchildren.
James Fricke
James A. Fricke, 77, of Denton died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Dayton, Ohio.
Mr. Fricke was a security guard for Able Security. He was a veteran.
A service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, at Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Stiles will officiate.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Fricke of Denton; three daughters, Lianne Fox of Houston, Lisa Fricke of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Shelly Parker of Denton; two sons, Gus Fricke of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Steve Fricke of Wilmington, Ohio; two brothers, Dr. Don Fricke and Howard Fricke, both of Dayton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Helen McWhinney
Helen R. McWhinney, 91, of Denton died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Fairhaven Retirement Center in Denton.
Helen was born March 1, 1910, in Corder, Mo., to Harvey and Edna (Strader) Edwards. She graduated from Bates City High School in 1928. She married Ted McWhinney on March 30, 1935, in Kansas City, Mo. He died Jan. 30, 2001.
She was a member of Denton Bible Church.
She served as a secretary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W) in Kansas City, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, at the chapel of Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home with her pastor, Tom Nelson, and a family friend, Jack Manes, officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at the funeral home.
Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Lillie McWhinney of Denton; three grandsons, Ted, John and Jimmy; and several very dear nieces and nephews.

Aubrey - Larry Donald Armor, 38, of Aubrey died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 10, 1962, in Bonham, to Billy Wayne and Edwina Rich Armor.
Mr. Armor was a truck driver.
He was Methodist.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 27, in the chapel of Goen-Hudgens Funeral Home in Denton. Burial will follow in Belew Cemetery in Aubrey.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, July 26, for visitation.
Survivors include three sons, Eric Pennington Armor of McKinney, Christopher Crober Armor of Clearview, Fla., and Jerred Ribb Armor of Little Elm; one daughter, Courtney Crober Armor of Clearwater, Fla., his parents of Aubrey; four brothers, Terry Wayne Armor of Denton, Darrell Armor of Justin, Jimmy Armor of Granbury and Jeffery Armor of Aubrey; one sister, Gwendolyn Armor of Fort Worth; and his grandmother, Nova Carmack of Durant, Okla.

Decatur - Marjorie Doris Brown, 83, of Decatur died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at a Dallas hospital.
She was born May 18, 1918, in Turnersville. On March 29, 1941, she married Lawrence M. Brown in Denton. He is deceased.
Mrs. Brown was a homemaker.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Rusty Hedges will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Decatur.
The family will be at Coker Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 27, for visitation.
Survivors include one son, Lawrence Brown Jr. of Plano; one daughter, Judy Smith of Decatur; one brother, Bob Buchanan of Decatur; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Larry Wayne Eaton, 54, of Denton died Friday, July 20, 2001, in Fort Worth.
He was born Dec. 27, 1946, in Kermit.
The memorial service will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Krum First Baptist Church.

Royal Edward Burrow, 69, of Sherwood Shores, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at Tioga Cemetery in Tioga. The Rev. Bob Bolden will officiate.

He was born Oct. 28, 1931, in Collinsville, to Ruben and Maudie Crawford Burrow. On May 22, 1992, he married Mary Alyne Alexander in Sherwood Shores.
Mr. Burrow was a truck driver for Acme Brick Company in Denton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Burrow of Sherwood Shores; one son, Larry Edward Burrow of Sherwood Shores; one daughter, Sharon Ruth Gravley of Aubrey; two brothers, Bill Burrow of Houston and Ruben Burrow of Denton; one sister, Katy Belle Moore of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Tammy Bryant, Misty Vaughn and Billy Vaughn; and one great- grandchild, Collin Bryant.
Walter Keen
Valley View - Walter Oliver Keen, 86, of Valley View, formerly of Denton and Gainesville, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Renaissance Nursing Home in Gainesville.
He was born Feb. 20, 1915, in Tioga to Elzie O. and Henrietta (Broom) Keen. He was married to Laura Jane Mozingo. She died Feb. 2, 1992.
Mr. Keen retired from Santa Fe Transport in 1976 as a truck driver.
He was a member of the Gribble Springs Baptist Church.
The service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, in Roselawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Danny Shaver and Dan Sparkman will officiate. Burial will follow.

John Steadmon
Odessa - John Riley Steadmon, 92, of Odessa, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
He was born March 27, 1909, in Meridian, Miss., to Ada and George Steadmon. On Oct 16, 1949, he married Ruth Young in Carlsbad, N.M. He moved to Odessa in 1959 from Andrews.
Mr. Steadmon retired after 60 years in the oilfield business.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Odessa. The Rev. Dewey Blevins will officiate. There will be a funeral procession leaving the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for the cemetery .
Survivors include his wife of Odessa; three sons, Harold Steadmon of Sumner, Wash., John Roy Steadmon and Michael George Steadmon, both of Odessa; three daughters, Barbara Smith of Inman, S.C., Janet Hamilton of Orange, and Sherri Herrera of Denton; two brothers, Ruben Steadmon of Big Spring and Fermon Steadmon of San Antonio; 35 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Wayne Steadmon and John Steadmon Jr.; three sisters, Vera Rubvno, Bertha Steadmon and Opal Theaux; and four brothers, Edwin Steadmon, Burl Steadmon, Willie Steadmon and James Steadmon.

Perley Brunsvold
Perley O. Brunsvold died July 26, 2001. He was born Nov. 24, 1913, in Kensett, Iowa, where he lived until he entered Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. After graduation he returned to Kensett to begin his life's work in education. He was a teacher, principal, coach and, ultimately, superintendent in his hometown. He then moved to Mason City, Iowa, where he first taught and coached baseball, football and basketball in Monroe School. He then moved up to the high school as athletic director, principal and superintendent of schools and director of the junior college.
He took a two-year leave of absence and earned his Ph.D from the University of Iowa. He graduated with honors, earning the Outstanding Student in Education Administration Award in 1966.
Two years later he joined the education administration department at Mankato State University where he taught until he retired in 1979. A Perley Brunsvold scholarship fund was established to honor his retirement.
In 1936, while teaching in Kensett, he married Arlene Garrett. There were three children born to this union: Brian Garrett, Michael Andrew and Dorothy Janan. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Thomas Bergstrom, Amy Bergstrom Irons, Laura Bergstrom Hynes, Paul Brunsvold, and MaryAnn Brunsvold Hamilton; and eight great-grandchildren.
He worked on many community projects and committees wherever he lived. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, served as Sunday School Superintendent in Mason City, taught Sunday School for 19 years, served as deacon and was on church council at each city in which he lived. He also served on the Boy Scout Board, YMCA Board, Mason City Development Association and was chairman of the United Way.
Memorials may be made to the P.O. Brunsvold Scholarship Fund and sent to Mankato State University Development Office, MSU Box 101, P.O. Box 8400, Mankato, Minn. 56002-8400.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton. Burial will be in Kensett Cemetery on Tuesday, July 31, following a graveside service at 10 a.m. with Major- Erickson Funeral Home of Mason City, Iowa, handling the arrangements.
