James O'Rear
Memorial services for James O'Rear, 82, of Lorenzo will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 4, 2002 at Lorenzo First Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Williams and Rev. Jerry Golden officiating. Burial will be in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo. He died Saturday, March 2, 2002 at Autumn House in Idalou. He was born October 4, 1919 in Lorenzo,  Texas. He married Nell Midkiff on November 5, 1939 in Abernathy,  Texas. He was a member of the Lorenzo First Baptist Church and taught the Maverick Sunday School Class. He was a diretor of Wayland Baptist University and served on the Board of Lorenzo State Bank at Lorenzo for 31 years. He also served on the Board of Lorenzo Textile Mills and the Lorenzo School Board. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Blue Lodge #1144 in Lorenzo. He served as Mayor of Lorenzo from 1952 to 1956 and served 10 years on the Lorenzo City Council. He and his family operated O'Rear Grocery Store in Lorenzo for 63 years. He served in the Army during WWII. He had lived in Lorenzo all his life. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers: Jack O'Rear and Dr. J. M. O'Rear. Ssurvivors include: his wife; Nell O'Rear of Lorenzo, a daughter; Patti Work of Idalou, 2 granddaughters; Wendi Work Pene of Shallowater and Lesli Work Davis of Lubbock, 7 great grandchildren. Pallbearers: Walt Pene, David Davis, Tommy Fondren, Dee Reynolds, Bud Peterson and John D. Sales. The family suggests memorials to Lorenzo First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the funeral service in the Fellowship Hall of Lorenzo First Baptist Church.

Lorenzo Martinez
Mass for Lorenzo Martinez, 67 , of Ralls will be at 7:30 PM, Friday, March 1, 2002 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Ralls with Re. Leonardo Pahamtang officiating. Rosary will be said at the same time at the same church.
Burial wil e in Cataloa Mpio De San Diego, Mexico at a later date. Local arrnagements under directio of Adams Funeral Home in Ralls.
He died Thursday, February 28, 2002 in Ralls. He was born September 13, 1934 in San Diego DeLa Union, Gto, Mexico. He married Maria Guadalupe “Lupe” Nunez in San Diego DeLa Union, Gto, Mexico.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Ralls. He moved to Ralls in 1963 from Mexico. Survivors include: his wife Lupe Nunez of Ralls, 3 sons; Humberto Martinez of Mexico, Juan Lorenzo Martinez of Dallas, Abelino Martinez of Mexico, 6 daughters; Juana Martinez of Mexico, Maria Elena Martinez of Mexico, Esther Martinez of Mexico, Ma. Del Carmen Martinez of Mexico, Guadalupe Martinez of Mexico, Martha Martinez of Lubbock, 2 brothers; Juan Martinez of Mexico, Augustino Martinez of Mexico, 2 sisters Dolores Martinez of Mexico, Enedino Martinez of Mexico and 15 grandchildren.

Hans Nelson
Memorial services for Hans Nelson, 82, of Lorenzo will be at 4:00 PM, Monday, February 25, 2002 at Lorenzo First Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Williams and Rev. Gary Boles officiating.
He died Saturday, February 23, 2002 at Lubbock. He was born November 29, 1919 in Dallas. He married Frances Hendricks on October 21, 1947 in Lubbock.
He was a 1934 graduate of Lorenzo High School and attended  Texas Tech for 2 years. He served in the Army Air Corps in WWII. He was a cotton buyer, cotton ginner and a cotton classifier for the International Cotton Association, He was an insurance salesman for life and pre-need funeral insurance. He lived in Lubbock, Temple and  Texas City, but spent most of his life as a Lorenzo resident. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Lorenzo First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Frances Nelson of Lorenzo, a son Bill Nelson of Ralls, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to U-Turn in care of Liberty Rock Church in Cone.

Anna Benton
Services for Anna Benton, 889, of Ralls will be at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at Emma Church of Christ in Ralls with Minister Tim Mills officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
She died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at Ralls Nursing Home. She was born October 27, 1912 in Idalou,  Texas.
She was a member of the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls. She was a graduate of Ralls High School and a member of the Prairie Thimble Quilting Club. She lived in the Ralls area most of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charley M. and Ruby Parks Benton.
Survivors include a brother Charles Benton of Roswell, New Mexico, a sister Margaret Moore of Ralls and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Michael Benton, Larry Benton, Milton Pace, James Pace, Eddie Jordan and Charlie Jordan.

Anita Lindley
Services for Anita Freeman Lindley, 81, of Ralls wil be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 15, 2002 aat Ralls Emma Church of Christ with Rev. Floyd Haddock officiating and minister Tim Mills assisting. Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
She died Monday, April 22, 2002 at her Ralls residence. She was born June 9, 1920 in Crosbyton,  Texas. She married Alvie Lindley on March 13, 1939 in Clovis, New Mexico. He died on September 13, 1992.
She was a 1938 graduate of Crosbyton High School. She was a member of the Emma Church of Christ. She was a member of the Ralls Garden Club and owned and operated the Ralls Flower Shop and Snack Bar for 43 years. She was a life long member of American Floral Service.
Survivors include, a son Mark Lindley of Wichita Falls,  Texas, three daughters; Carolyn Pruitt of Lubbock, Sandra Mackey of San Angelo, D’Ann Reynolds of Lubbock; a brother Bill Freeman of Hale Center; a sister Lennie Merle Freeman of Lubbock, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren

Gladys Gilstrap
Services for Gladys Mimms Gilstrap, 92, of Richardson formerly of Ralls, will be at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at Emma Church of Christ in Ralls with Tim Mills, minister officiating.
Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
She died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at HIS Village in Richardson,  Texas. She was born July 13, 1909 in Rochester,  Texas.
She was a member of the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls and had worked for Carpenter Cleaners in Ralls for many years. She moved to Richardson,  Texas several years ago from Ralls.
She was preceded in death by a daughter; Joyce Weems in 1979 and a brother Leroy Mimms.
Survivors include: a daughter Loyce Bower of Richardson, four brothers; Darrell Mimms of Conway, Arkansas, G. W. “Pete” Mimms of Shallowater, Dalton Mimms of Deer Creek,  Oklahoma, Marvin Mimms of Lazbuddie.six sisters; Jewel  Taylor of Lubbock, Claudia Porter of Lubbock, Leona Blanton of Lubbock, Jerrine Parks of Lubbock, Doris Moorman of Clovis, New Mexico, Merle McFarland of Ralls, six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Willie Fay Poteet
Services for Willie Fay "Bill" Poteet, 87, of Lubbock will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 6, 2002 at the Ralls First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Horn officiating.
Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
She died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at Lakeside Rehabilitation and Care Center in Lubbock.
She was born November 24, 1914 in Tom Green County,  Texas. She married Odell Poteet o January 27, 1940 in Floydada,  Texas.
She attended school in the Starkey Community. She was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church. She worked for Robert Smithee Cleaners in Ralls for many years and at Dunlaps in Lubbock for 30 years doing alterations. She retired at the age of 78. She moved to Lubbock in 1969 from Ralls.
Survivors include: her husband Odell Poteet of Wolfforth, a son Troy Dell Poteet of Wolfforth, four daughters; Mary Nell Thomas of Wolfforth, Nita Vincent of Lubbock, Rita Jernigan of Weatherford and Jackie Clines of Robinson, a brother John Wilson of Ralls, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Pallbearers are grandchildren: Poteet Suzanne Vincent, Lorie Vincent, Justin Jernigan, Derek Thomas, Jeremy Thomas, Jason Thomas, Marci Thomas, Cheryl Poteet, Jon David Poteet, Katy Poteet.

Darlene Bewley
Service for Darlene Benton Bewley, 47, of Lubbock will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Adams Funeral Home in Ralls with Rev. Danny  Jackson and Gerald  Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. She died Sat. May 11, 2002 at her Lubbock residence. She was born Oct. 21, 1954 in Lubbock. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and had lived most of her life in Lubbock. she was a former resident of Lake Dallas and Decatur. She is preceded in death by her father David L. Benton who died Aug. 12, 2001. She is survived by her mother, Elenore Benton of Lubbock, a son Phillip Jason Bewley of Lubbock, a daughter, Jennifer Mary Bewley of Levelland, Tx , a brother, David Benton of Milton, Florida, 3 sisters, Marilyn D. McDonald of Andrews, Tx, Barbara E. Morrison of Minooka, Il and Malene K. Coleman of
Gerogetown, Tx.

Roy Gregory
Services for Roy Gregory, 83, of Ralls will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 17, 2002 at Ralls First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Reed-Farris, pastor officiating.
Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
He died Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born on May 23, 1918 in Tarrant County,  Texas.
He is preceded in death by four brothers: William Loyd Gregory, Porter Glenn Gregpry, Jr., Earl Travis Gregory and Clarence T. Gregory and one sister Pauline May Presley.
Survivors include a sister Ethel Laird of Ralls.

Nelda Pina
Services for Nelda Pina, 40, of Lubbock, will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 18, 2002 at Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jose Martinez of Welch officiating.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday, May 17, 2002 at the same church.
Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
She died Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born Apri 27, 1962 in Crosbyton.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church Singles Group at Emmanuel Worship Center in Lubbock and the Lubbock Hispanic Women's Association. She was a 1982 graduate of Crosbyton High School. She moved to Lubbock in 1984 from Crosbyton.
Survivors include: a brother Javier Pina of Austin, three sisters; Noemi Martinez of Alice, Nora P. Gonzalez and Norma Almaraz both of Lubbock.
