Elmer Yeck
Argyle - Elmer Wesley Yeck, 97, of Argyle died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 6, 1904, in Denton County. Mr. Yeck was a farmer.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Old Alton Cemetery. The Rev. Bob Joyce will officiate.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 5, at Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home.
Survivors include one son, Donald Yeck of Denton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Bernice Noah
Bernice Gordon Noah, age 95, passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 3, 2001, at Denton Good Samaritan Village Health Care Center, Denton, Texas. She was born Oct. 30, 1905, in a small prairie house near the community of Temple in Indian Territory, now Oklahoma. Later the family moved to Fleetwood, Okla., where she began her education in a one-room schoolhouse. At age 13, the family moved to a farm near Tioga, Texas.
At the age of 17, to obtain funds for her college education, she passed an examination given by the State of Texas and was awarded a teaching certificate. Her first teaching assignment was in a one-room schoolhouse, teaching grades 1 through 7 at Delaware Bend, which is now covered by Lake Texoma.
Bernice was the second child of seven children in the family of Eva and J.D. Gordon. She entered North Texas Normal College, now the University of North Texas, in 1924 and graduated in 1928. While in college, she met Winton E. "Pop" Noah, the man of her dreams. They married on Dec. 27, 1927. This marriage lasted almost 50 years, until Pop's death in 1977.
From this marriage, three children were born: Patricia Noah Graham and husband Seldon of Austin, Texas, Winton T. Noah of Atlanta, Ga., and Dale G. Noah and wife Jo Rene of Joplin, Mo.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
She and Pop began their married life in Dallas, Texas, where he coached football and track at Oak Cliff, now Adamson High School, for 20 years. In 1947, the family moved to Denton where Pop became the head track coach of the University of North Texas.
A major part of their life were the boys on Pop's track teams where she acted as a surrogate mother. She enjoyed all sports and attended the first Cotton Bowl game. She and Pop were a major part of the world of athletics; Pop as a coach and Bernice as a coach's wife. She also was an avid bridge player, voracious reader, and loved to fish on their farm, "The Hill."
In 1948, Bernice obtained her real estate license. She was co-founder and the first president of the Denton Real Estate Board. She was active as a Realtor for over 20 years.
She was a life-long member of the Methodist church and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Denton for more than a half century.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, in Cole Chapel of the First United Methodist Church, 201 South Locust, in Denton. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to the Coach ``Pop" Noah Track Scholarship, University of North Texas, P.O. Box 311370, Denton, Texas 76203, or the First United Methodist Church of Denton.

Connie Galindo
Connie Galindo, 64, of Denton, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 8, 1936, in Coleman. On May 20, 1951, she married Willie Galindo in Coleman. He died Feb. 6, 1988.
Mrs. Galindo was a homemaker.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Monday, Feb. 5, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Popo Gonzales and the Rev. Tim Baca will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Schmitz-Floyd-Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her son, Robert Galindo of Irving; eight daughters, Liza Baca of Sherman, Sylvia Butler and Diane Carter, both of Denton, Patti French of Sherman, Gina Nack and Janet Richards, both of Denton, Bernie Richardson of Sanger, and Kaye Unclebach of Sherman; four brothers, Antonio Perez of Vernon, Fermin Perez of Fredrick, Okla., and Henry and Joe Perez, both of Lansing, Mich.; three sisters, Tomasa Alvarado of Odessa, Maria Garza of Lansing, Mich., and Saprano Garza of Vernon; 23 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Brian Darrach
Brian Darrach, 19, of Rhome, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Wise Regional Heath System in Decatur.
Coker Funeral Home of Decatur is in charge of arrangements.
Frank Goode
Alvord - Frank Elbert Goode, 75, of Alvord, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Crescent Care Nursing Center, Bridgeport.
He was born June 2, 1925, in Floydada. His wife, Matha Faye Jeffcoat, is deceased.
Mr. Goode was Baptist.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at New Hope Cemetery, Tarrant County. Gentry Castleman will officiate.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Coker Funeral Home in Decatur.
Survivors include two sons Duwane Goode of Mount Pleasant and David Goode of Bowie; and two daughters, Martha Renner of Alvord and Elaine Burrel of Shirley, Ark.,: two sisters, Jo Houser of Locksburg, Ark., and Ethel Hannom of Hot Springs, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Five brothers, William, Aubry, Robert, Hoyt and Ray, are deceased.
Nancy Kerksieck
Nancy Elizabeth Kerksieck, 88, of Denton, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Select Specialty Hospital in Dallas.
She was born Sept. 6, 1912, in Crossroads in Denton County, to John Henry and Nellie (Claytor) Robinson.
Mrs. Kerksieck worked in food service at the University of North Texas.
She was Baptist.
Graveside services were held at 9:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Cooper Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Buddy Owens officiated. Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Belew of Denton; one son, William Kerksieck of Lake Dallas; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Jackie Tiner
Aubrey - Jackie Sue Tiner, 56, of Aubrey, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at her home.
She was born July 29, 1944, in Dalhart. She married Jim Tiner on Dec. 4, 1959, in Dumas.
Mrs. Tiner was a homemaker and employed by Zales Jewelry at Golden Triangle Mall.
A memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at her home, 306 Cole Road, Aubrey. Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home of Denton is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society of Denton.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Tiner; one son, Russell Tiner; one daughter, Dana K. Bodkin; her mother, Katie Field; her stepmother, Betty Wilkinson; her stepfather, Sherman Field; three brothers; three sisters; and seven grandchildren.
Neva Ross
Dallas - Neva Jane Ross, 41, of Dallas, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, surrounded by her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Slater and Mary Ross. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Maricella Ross; brother, Benny Ross; sister, Brenda Ross; nephews, Ben Ross and Matthew Ross; niece, Amanda Ross; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends between 6 and 9 p.m Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Oak Cliff Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at Grace Temple Baptist Church, Dallas, with the Rev. Mickey Moriarty officiating. Interment will follow in Furneaux Cemetery, Carrollton.
Neva was a longtime employee of Highland Park Pharmacy and attended Grace Temple Baptist Church. She was a graduate of W.H. Adamson High School in Oak Cliff. She is loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Pallbearers for Neva will be Gene Williams, Dale Williams, Dub Williams, John Williams, Robert Williams and Paul Williams.

Monte L. Shaeffer
Monte Lucille Shaeffer, 73, of Denton, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1927, in Jeanette, Pa., to Walter and Mary Mildred Fisher Foltz.
She married Keith Shaeffer on Nov. 7, 1947, in Jeanette, Pa. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Denton and volunteered at Flow Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Shaeffer was a member of the Denton Benefit League and Ladies Golf Association at the Denton County Club. She worked at the voting polls during elections and enjoyed golf and bowling.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with the Rev. Gary Mueller officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to a charity of choice.
Her husband, Keith Shaeffer of Denton; a daughter, Jan Shaeffer of Oak Point; and two grandchildren, Lindsey and Zachary Gorton, survive her.

Elizabeth Estridge
Elizabeth Jean Estridge, 55, of Denton, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 30, 1945, in Yazoo City, Miss.
Mrs. Estridge was a homemaker.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in Sanger Cemetery. Marshall Gonzalez will officiate. Schmitz-Floyd-Andersen Funeral Home of Denton is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Estridge of Denton; one sister, Lady Ruth Nickerson of Denton; and one brother, Robert Charles Stevens of Denton.
William Palmer
Shady Shores - William Terry Palmer, 71, of Shady Shores, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at his home.
He was born July 19, 1929, in Wichita Falls, to William and Nona Palmer. He retired from the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War where he received two Purple Hearts.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Palmer; two daughters, Karen Wilkes and Mitzi Zopp; two sons, Mitchell Palmer and Tim Palmer; two brothers, Jim and Bobby Palmer; and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. The Rev. John Dickey will officiate. Dalton and Son Funeral Home of Lewisville is in charge of arrangements.
Donald Ray Morris
Houston - Donald Ray Morris passed away on Feb. 5, 2001, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 63. He was born on Jan. 4, 1938, in Coffeyville, Kan., to Lindsay Ray and Pearl Naomi Morris. Don enjoyed 30 years in the flour milling industry where he held various executive and managerial positions. He cherished the time spent with his family and treasured the many friendships gained throughout his lifetime.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; daughters, Michelle Marie Hush and husband Ken, and Lisa Dawn Mayes; sons, Stanley Ray Morris and wife Deborah, and Steven Randall Morris and wife Brandy; sister, Beverly Jane Pruitt and husband Richard; and grandchildren, Rachel Hush, Gillian Hush, Jordan Ray Morris, Sawyer Morris, Zachary Mayes, Shaye Mayes, Alisha Mayes, Chad Mayes, and Krystal Gulley.
A visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, and a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Deacon Terry Mulcare officiating. Both the visitation and service will be held in the chapel at Crowder Funeral Home, located at 111 East Medical Center Blvd., Webster, Texas, 77598.

Albert Freed
Lake Dallas - Albert "Bud" Freed, 57, of Lake Dallas, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at a hospital in Denton.
Mr. Freed was a native of Philadelphia, Pa. He worked as a credit analyst for a semiconductor firm.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, in the chapel of Dalton and Son Funeral Home in Lewisville. Dr. Michael Waco will officiate. Cremation will take place after the service.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Feb. 7, at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Moss Freed; two sons, Ryan and Jeff Freed; one sister, Kathy Freed; two brothers, Rick and Bob Freed; and his mother, Kathleen Freed.
