Decatur - Zena Leveta Thompson, 77, of Decatur, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Sunny Hills Nursing Center in Decatur.
She was born Aug. 7, 1922, in Crowley. She married Melvin Warren Thompson on Oct. 26, 1940, in Ardmore, Okla. He is deceased.
Mrs. Thompson was a retired clerk for Farmer Home Administration.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, July 6, at First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Rusty Hedges will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Coker Funeral Home in Decatur is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Decatur.
Survivors include her son, Warren Thompson of Houston; and sister, Helen Bullington of Lugoff, S.C. Her brother, Fred Maples, is deceased.
Willie Williams
Lewisville - Willie Lee "Papa" Williams, 54, of Lewisville, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, in Lewisville.
He was born Jan. 2, 1946, in Frisco, to Charles and Claudia Williams.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, July 6, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Lewisville. The Rev. Lester Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Flower Mound Cemetery in Flower Mound. Dalton & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Faye Williams of Lewisville; three sons, Vince Edward Williams-Hare of Lewisville, Willie Dwayne Williams of Frisco and Jerry Don Williams of Cooper; two brothers, Billy Williams of McKinney and Terry Williams of Wasco, Calif.; four sisters, Emma Williams of Lewisville, Avella Stubblefield, Earlene Mays and Carol Coombs, all of Carrollton; and five grandchildren.
Hazel Bearden
Arlington - Hazel Bearden, 93, a homemaker, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, in Arlington.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Arlington Funeral Home. Burial: Keystone Cemetery in Arlington.
Memorials: Texas Masonic Retirement Center.
Hazel Bearden was born July 31, 1906. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Petersburg, Texas, and taught school at Center and Boz where she met her future husband. She was past Worthy Matron of Petersburg Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Bearden; sons, David Milton and Melvin Leon; grandchild, Kim Bearden; and sister, Mylie Agee.
Survivors: Sons, Robert and Wanda Bearden of Petersburg, John Dwayne and Peggy Bearden of Krum, and Dwight and Pat Bearden of Lovington, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
David Penn
David Penn, 84, of Denton, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 27, 1915, in Rochester, N.Y., to Alexander Penn and Gennie (Ruben) Penn. They are deceased. He married Geraldine Banker in Danville, N.Y., on June 18, 1938.
Mr. Penn was a chemical engineer for General Dynamics Corporation.
Memorial services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 7, in the chapel of the Vintage. The Rev. Brent Bowen will officiate.

John Broadus
Grand Prairie - John Oscar Broadus, 70, of Grand Prairie, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, in Grand Prairie.
He was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Denton, to Jewel Clark and Lester Broadus Sr. He married Elsie M. Durham.
Mr. Broadus was a senior master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at Oakwood Cemetery in Denton. The Rev. Reginald Logan will officiate.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, July 7, at Peoples Funeral Home in Denton.
Survivors include his wife of Grand Prairie; son, Calvin Broadus of Grand Prairie; and brother, Lester Broadus Jr. of Waco.
Floyd Hawkins
Floyd Hawkins, 66, of Denton, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at RHD Hospital in Farmers Branch.
He was born April 20, 1934, in Antlers, Okla., to Freddie Henry and Fannie L. Hawkins. He married Mary Jim Banks on July 2, 1955, in Hugo, Okla.
Mr. Hawkins graduated from Grant Oklahoma High School. He was a member and former president of the Denton Lions Club. He was a member of the Texas Water Quality Association.
He owned and operated Hawkins-Culligan Water Service of Denton and Nocona since 1972.
Mr. Hawkins was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and an usher.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Denton. The Rev. Donavan Davidson will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, July 7, at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton.

She was born June 25, 1956, in Dallas, to Bill and Beth (Hanley) Finch.
Ms. Monroe was a production associate for Boeing.

Esther Pearson
Boyd - Esther May Pearson, 95, of Boyd, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Sunny Hills Nursing Center in Decatur.
She was born April 29, 1905, in Wise County. She married David Andrew Pearson II on Jan. 1, 1921, in Wise County. He is deceased.
Mrs. Pearson was a homemaker.
She was a member of Cottondale Church of Christ in Cottondale.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at Cottondale Church of Christ. Gerald Cleveland will officiate. Burial will be in Annis Chapel Cemetery in Wise County.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, July 7, at Coker Funeral Home in Decatur.
Survivors include her two daughters, Estelee Romar of Fort Worth and Laverl Wilson of Springtown; brother, A. V. Isbell of Tyler; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her son, David Andrew Pearson III, is deceased.
Lloyd Tigert
Decatur - Lloyd Travis Tigert, 69, of Decatur, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
He was born Nov. 16, 1930, in New Boston. He married Cleo Jean McGar on Sept. 19, 1953, in Lovington, N.M. She died Aug. 14, 1997.
Mr. Tigert did maintenance for Decatur Independent School District.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Decatur. Lee Roy Jackson will officiate and Louis Horton will assist. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, July 7, at Coker Funeral Home in Decatur.
Survivors include his son, Bobby Glen Tigert of Fort Worth; two daughters, Connie Jean Wilson and Donna Raine Howard, both of Decatur; brother, Bill Tigert of Decatur; two sisters, Juanita Fulghum and Margaret Jackson, both of Mesquite; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Her brothers, Richard Tigert and Clifford Tigert, and sisters, Mellie Thompson and Helen May Lloyd, are deceased.
Maria Tumyk
Maria S. Tumyk, 76, of Denton, died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Medical Center of Lewisville.
She was born April 24, 1924, in Germany, to Maximillian and Ellsbeth Gerdes.
A private service will be held at a later date.

Survivors include her son, Josef Tumyk of Lewisville; and brother, Johannes Gerdes of Germany. Her husband is deceased.
Ernest M. Peiser
Ernest Martin Peiser, 86, of Haskell, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at an Abilene hospital. Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. today, Friday, July 7, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Haskell with Pastor Gary O. Bruns officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery in Haskell under the direction of Holden-McCauley

The son of Albert and Annie Peiser, Ernest was born May 5, 1914, in Haskell County. He attended Irby School. He married Lilly Mary Druesedow on Dec. 21, 1937, at her Haskell County home. Ernest and Lilly farmed in the Irby Community until 1978 and continued to raise livestock until the early 1990s. He was a licensed agent for Germania Insurance for 25 years.
Ernest was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and had served as a deacon and an elder. He was a former president of the Mattson School Board and the Order of the Sons of Hermann Lodge #241. In the Lodge he held numerous offices and was honored for his 60 years of service to the organization in 1994. He served on the Haskell Co-Op Gin board and was chairman of the Democratic Precinct Party for 10 years. He also was a dedicated volunteer at the Experienced Citizens Center.
He had a passion for woodworking and enjoyed sharing his craft with his family and friends. Using barn wood from the homeplace, Ernest built intricate bird houses and other specialty items. He was a green-thumb gardener and an avid fisherman and sportsman until his health declined. Another of his special gifts was helping people. With a big German smile, he always shared his time and his talents. He was a loving husband, a caring father and an extra special grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of Haskell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Bobby McGary of Abilene and Cynthia and Johnny Hudson of Pilot Point; four grandchildren, Shari and Dana Schaefer of Abilene, Bradley and Robin McGary of Abilene, Heath and Nancy Hudson of Pilot Point and Brandon and Shannon McGary of Abilene; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Fischer and Evelyn Moeller of Haskell; and many nieces and nephews.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Alfon Peiser and Willie Peiser.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Druesedow Jr. of Aledo, Andrew Kline of Pike Creek, Ben Nanny of Abilene, Darrell Richards of Ericksdahl and Gary Druesedow, Dale Fischer, Allen Moeller and Wayne Peiser, all of Haskell.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
