Herbert C. Parrish
Herbert Charles Parrish, 80, of Denton, died Wednesday, June 28, at his home.
He was born Oct. 8, 1919, in Jacksboro, to Jake Newton Parrish and Amy Rosalie Wilton Parrish. He received his bachelor's degree from North Texas State College in 1939, and his master's degree in 1941. In 1955 he received his Ph.D. from Ohio State University. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an ensign in 1944 and retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve as a lieutenant commander in 1979.
Dr. Parrish married Edrie Talley on Aug. 12, 1941, in Denton. He began his career as an instructor of math at Ohio State University from 1948 to 1949. At North Texas State College, now University of North Texas, he was an assistant professor of math from 1949 to 1955, associate professor of math from 1955 to 1958, and professor and director of the math department from 1958 until his retirement in 1985.
He was listed in "Who's Who of America," and was a member of National Council of Teachers of Math, Math Association of America, American Math Society, Sigma XI, Pi Mu Epsilon, Kappa Mu Epsilon and Kappa Delta Pi.
He was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 30, at Grace Temple Baptist Church. The Rev. Donovan Davidson will officiate. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, June 29, for visitation.
Memorials may be made to National Parkinson's Foundation or the E.H. Hanson Math Scholarship Fund at University of North Texas.
Survivors include his wife of Denton; one daughter, Roberta Starbird of Austin; two sons, Byron Parrish of Brookline, Mass., and Norman Parrish of the Woodlands; one sister, Hazel Marley of Jacksboro; and seven grandchildren.
Earline Roach
Earline Roach, 81, of Old Alton Community, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at her home.
She was born March 9, 1919, in Hughes Springs to George A. and Tennie (Allen) Rickett. She married J.W. "Dub" Roach on March 24, 1939, in Marietta, Okla. He died May 1, 1985.
Mrs. Roach graduated from University of North Texas with a master's degree in education. She retired in 1981 as an elementary teacher for Lake Dallas Elementary School after 21 years of service.
She was a member of Old Alton Baptist Church.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 30, at Old Alton Baptist Church. The Rev. Randy Templin will officiate. Interment will follow at Old Alton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Roach, Robert Roach, Don Roach, Donald McLeod, Jimmie F. White and Glen Gray Jr.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, June 29, at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home in Denton.

Survivors include a son, Jimmy W. Roach of Denton; brother, Harold Rickett of Azle; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Robert O. Bradtke
Flower Mound -- Robert O. Bradtke, 63, of Flower Mound, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at Medical Center of Lewisville.
He was born Oct. 8, 1936, in Jackson, Wis., to Edward T. and Margaret Beisel Bradtke. He married Lois Helen Wendt on March 2, 1957, in Wayne, Mich.
Mr. Bradtke received a degree in police administration from Michigan State University and worked in law enforcement in Ann Arbor, Mich., for 10 years. He later worked as a pharmaceutical sales manager.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Flower Mound. He was an elder, the church treasurer and taught Sunday school.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Flower Mound. Richard H. Schleicher will officiate. Burial will be Wednesday, July 5, in Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia, Mich.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, June 30, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.

Survivors include his wife of Flower Mound; son, Joel Bradtke of Santa Anna, Calif.; daughter, Sheree Jones of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brother, Edward R. Bradtke of St. Louis, Mo.; and six grandchildren. His brother the Rev. Martin T. Bradtke, is deceased.

Jack Davis Layfield, 76, of Denton, formerly of Justin, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at Denton Community Hospital.
He was born on April 29, 1924, in Blackwell, Okla., to Richard F. Layfield Sr. and Bertha Clay (Ogle) Layfield.
Mr. Layfield was employed in assembly at the Shelter Workshop.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 1, in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home in Denton. The Rev. Scott Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Justin Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Pollock, Louis Rigney, Gerald Whisenhunt, Richard B. Layfield, James Taylor and Don Morgan.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Pat Layfield of Justin; and several nieces and nephews.
Clarence Peevey
Clarence Asher Peevey, 11-day-old son of Shannon Eric and Cecilia Ho Peevey of Denton, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at Cook-Fort Worth Childrens Medical Center.
He was born June 17, 2000.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Stan Dennis will officiate.
Visitation will be after the services.
Survivors include his parents; grandparents, Dennis and Bonnie Naffziger of Ronan, Mont., Bing-Tung and Victoria Ho of Hong Kong and Edward Earl Peevey Jr. of Waco; and great-grandparents, Mae Naffziger of Valyermo, Calif., and Edward and Minnie Peevey of Waco.
Derrel Youngblood
Derrel Gene Youngblood, 47, of St. Charles, Mo., formerly of Newark, died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, in St. Charles, Mo.
He was born July 6, 1952, in Stigler, Okla., to Betty Youngblood.
Mr. Youngblood was an engineer for Electrical Traffic Control.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 1, in the chapel of Coker Funeral Home in Decatur. Neil Cardwell will officiate. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery in Aurora.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, June 30, at Coker Funeral Home.
Survivors include his mother of Newark; wife, Janice Youngblood of St. Charles, Mo.; daughter, Tracy Plumlee of Garland; two brothers, Ricky Youngblood of Newark and David Youngblood of Sachse; sister, Susie Lucas of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren.
Curtis Anderson
Alvord -- Curtis Buchanan Anderson, 79, of Alvord died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at his home.
He was born May 12, 1921, in Bridgeport. He married Mary Ann "Pid" Shaunty in Weatherford in 1943.
Mr. Anderson was a furnace operator for a manufacturing company. He was veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of First Baptist Church in Alvord.
Service will be at 10 a.m. today, July 1, at First Baptist Church in Alvord. Bill Cleveland will officiate. Burial will be in Alvord Cemetery in Alvord. Coker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Ben Peace, Joe Campos, Danny Bramlitt, Tim Shaunty, James D. Anderson, Tommy Sweet, Dan Stinnett and Don Pierce.
Survivors include his wife of Alvord; a daughter, Sandra Ann Thompson of Alvord; a sister, Faye Sweet of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Craig Anderson.
Lucile Hammond
Lewisville -- Lucile Balderston Hammond, 78, of Lewisville died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Medical Center of Lewisville.
She was born Aug. 25, 1921, in Canadian to Edward and Ida B. Dawson Balderston. She married John R. Hammond Dec. 31, 1959. He died in January 1990.
Mrs. Hammond retired from Lewisville Independent School District in 1985. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewisville.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 3, at First Presbyterian Church in Lewisville. Thomas J. Baughman will officiate. Burial will be in Martin Oaks Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.

Survivors include three nephews, Robin Balderston, Richard Balderston and Chris Balderston; and two nieces, Martha Balderston and Sharon Greisser. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob Balderston and Fred Balderston.
Brittany White
Corinth -- Brittany Marie White, 12, of Corinth died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at her home.
She was born Jan. 22, 1988, in Denton to Randell Lee and Susan Marie Wilson White.
She was a sixth-grade honor student at Lake Dallas Intermediate School. She was a cheerleader and was active in dance, piano, team kids and the children's choir.
Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 3, at First Baptist Church of Corinth. David Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for Brain Tumor Research.
Survivors include her parents of Corinth; a brother, Randy Lee White II of Corinth; her grandparents, Jean White of Denton, Robert White of Lake Dallas, and Donna Wilson of Corinth; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Maurice McGowan
Maurice Richard McGowan, 82, of Denton died Friday, June 30, 2000, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 3, 1918, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Charles and Margaret Hickey McGowan. He married Mary Etta Sewell on June 29, 1983, in Dayton, Ohio.
He attended the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. He was retired as the chief of personnel relations at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 3, at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Revs. Virgie Holbrook and Steve Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 2, at Mulkey- Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home in Denton.
Survivors include his wife of Denton; four daughters, Maurita Ockerman of Niceville, Fla., Laureen Minardi of Dayton, Ohio, Cynthia Bego of Sunland, Calif., and Suzanne Carpenter of Marietta, Ga.; one son, William McGowan of Boise, Idaho; one stepdaughter, Kimberly Vennerholm of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; two stepsons, Mark Vennerholm of Corinth and Gregory Vennerholm of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Mary Carol of Cincinnati, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; and 6 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Annette McGowan.
Janie Montez
Janie Castillo Montez, 46, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Denton Community Hospital.
She was born May 19, 1954, in Marlin to Felix and Cathy Montez Reyes.
She worked as a custodian at a public school. She was Catholic.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 3, at Belew Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 3, at Goen- Hudgens Funeral Home in Denton.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Lee Davis of Lake Dallas; two daughters, Lorena Montez of Lake Dallas and Elizabeth Howell of Pilot Point; a son, George Davis of Dallas; two brothers, Joe Montez of Irving and Freddie Reyes of Carrollton; three sisters, Thersa Reyes of Frisco, Carmen Reyes of Irving, and Anna Reyes; and four grandchildren.
